No, I don't own any Yu-Gi-Oh! related etc. If I did… Anime would be a new religion, with great and powerful leaders like, Kazuki Takahashi. That would be pretty cool.

Chapter Twenty: Detention and Its Many Benefits
Kaiba walked out of the men's room. He distinctly heard the pitter patter of fading steps as though a group of people were running away from where he stood.
Oh, well. Not my concern.
He had just come from the detention room and had met Yugi and his small group of bumbling idiot friends. Amongst them though, was not the blond. This worried him. He figured that the golden haired boy would have slept a few hours and then gone back to class. But he had not returned.
Kaiba simply assumed then, that he had simply decided to skip class altogether, which wouldn't really have surprised him all that much. After class, he figured that the boy would have met up with his little posse made up of the short midget kid, the other idiot, the whore slut, and the depressing albino-like kid thing, but obviously he hadn't. He had just seen those very same people walking down the hall, holding one of their stupid conversations, but Jounouchi had most definitely not been with them.
So? Where is he? Could he still be asleep?
Kaiba wondered.
We both have detention in a few minutes. If he's still sleeping… I guess I should go wake him?
Kaiba stood there for a minute debating his next course of action. One the one hand, he felt slightly obligated and strangely compelled to assist the blond boy. On the other hand, he continually reminded himself, he didn't give a damn. The CEO took a long look back towards the detention room. He caught eyes with the odd white haired kid who stood in the door way. The other boy was smiling at him. Kaiba sneered annoyingly back and walked away down the hall towards the old building where he had left the slumbering blond.
Ryou quirked an eyebrow and walked back into the room assigned for detention. /I wonder where he's going?/
He sat down in a desk towards the front of the room. Already the back was piled up with the school miscreants and random tardy student. Bakura appeared next to him, leaning against another nearby empty desk. The spirit shrugged. //Kill Jounouchi?//
Ryou gave him a disapproving look.
//What?! If you don't like my answer then why'd you ask?//
Ryou sighed. /If he doesn't come back soon, he's going to be late./
//I don't think he cares to much about that right now.//
Ryou frowned and looked confused. /Huh? What do you mean?/
The old tomb robber calmly grinned a knowing smile. //You couldn't tell?//
Ryou shook his head.
//It was in his eyes. In his face too. Something's on that boy's mind. And, I assure you, it has nothing to do with being late to some stupid after school detention class.// Bakura smirked. //Still… I do wonder what's got that hard ass all looking like that?//
Ryou blinked, a little out of the loop. /What are you talking about?/
Bakura laughed and waived it off, chuckling a bit to himself.

Kaiba opened the door to the old storage room. A bit of dust clung in the air as he entered. The lights were dim as only the natural sunlight from outside filtered in through small dirt grime covered windows, forming soft beams of light that traveled through the room. Stages for the dancing dust. He soundlessly walked across the room towards the still sleeping figure on the old, rusted, blue cot.
Hmph. Still sleeping?
Jounouchi's body lay on its side, with his back to Kaiba. He had both his arms propped under his head, as a makeshift pillow, and laid softly, his sides barely rising as he took in small shallow breaths of air. Kaiba followed the rhythmic breathing; his eyes focusing on the boy's exposed neck and drifting slightly down his broad shoulders to his curved body, noticing in particular detail the way his waist seemed to slowly dissipate into slender hips and lead into long toned legs. Kaiba almost found himself with an open mouth admiring the blonde's well formed body, but quickly shook his head clear of any random thoughts and composed himself.
Hmph.
He reached out a hand, with the intention of shaking the sleeping boy's shoulders to rudely wake him up, when, at that exact second, Jounouchi turned onto his back, inadvertently making the CEO`s hand land directly on his chest. A split second passed and then Kaiba's arm shot back immediately, as though Jounouchi's body were made of fire. He had felt one heart beat in that small expanse of time. It made the normally cold Seto Kaiba shiver awkwardly, as he suddenly became painfully aware that what lay before him was in fact…
Alive…
Kaiba turned away, unable to continue looking at the sleeping boy.
Wait… This is stupid! What the hell's wrong with me?! I'm letting that cretin mutt get to me? Me?! Seto Kaiba?! I don't think so!
The recuperated CEO turned back with a scowl imprinted on his face. He looked down at the sleeping dog. Jounouchi's arms were raised over his head, consequently raising his white shirt, exposing a good amount of delectably soft, delicious, creamy, pastel skin. The low glimmer of light that managed to penetrate the room, illuminated the little golden hairs that swirled around Jounouchi's navel and trailed down his abdomen, disappearing into the confines of his well fitted jeans. Slight indents marked the boy's well toned hips, forming almost chiseled lines that ran into his waistband, as obvious ones marked the well sculpted abs that ran up and under his shirt. Any resolve that Kaiba might have had quickly disappeared as Jounouchi whimpered slightly and finished accommodating himself.
Kaiba found himself glued to his spot next to the cot staring down at the dish spread out in front of him. Jounouchi shifted in the cot a little, bringing Kaiba out of his oddly induced trance. The CEO staggered back a little, shaking his head, trying to find his focus.
What the hell?! What..? What was that?!
The brunette held his head and noticed that he was breathing rather sharply.
OK… That's… Different. Um…
Kaiba took a deep breath to steady himself and tried to swallowed the lump that was forming in his throat. A strange knot had somehow wound itself inside his stomach. He hated the feeling of confusion that flowed through his veins and permeated his body at that second. "Hey!" he yelled. "Wake up mutt!!!"
Jounouchi did just that. "Huh?! Wha-? What?! Kaiba?"
"Yes. You slept through the whole day."
"What?! Crap!" the blond cursed as he sat up, rubbing the sleep out of his eyes.
"Hurry up, and get up. We have to go." Kaiba began walking towards the door.
"What? Where?" Jounouchi stumbled to his feet and trailed after the other teen, nearly slamming into a over stacked shelf covered in dust. "Where are we going? Hey, hold on!"
Kaiba thanked the fates for giving him his long legs as he strode down the hall. Jounouchi had to break into a small trot just to keep up. "Slow down, will ya'! Where are we going?"
"Detention."
"Oh, hell! I forgot about that." The blond yawned and stretched. "Mm!! I feel so much better! I wanna go outside and run around! The day looks good!" he spoke as they exited the building and made their way down the walkway. The sun was partially clouded, but still shone with a brilliance that vanquished any shadows, and the air held a soft fragrance of freshly cut grass that the warm winds picked up and swirled everywhere.
"Hm?" Kaiba grinned, suddenly finding himself in a good mood as well. "If you want, I can let you off your leash so you can go chase little squirrels and bark at cats up in trees?" Kaiba smirked and expected the usual reaction from the hot tempered boy next to him.
"Really?! Sounds like fun!" Jounouchi laughed.
Kaiba's eyebrows furrowed together.
Huh? That was… Unexpected.
The CEO cleared his face of any visible emotions as he continued down the path. Jounouchi sprinted in front of him and opened the door to let them both pass into the classroom's building.
"Hey, Kaiba?" the blond began, suddenly growing very serious. "I want to thank you for, you know, um, uh, letting me get some sleep. I guess."
Kaiba could tell that what Jounouchi had spoken was not what he had intended to say.
He shrugged in response. "Do it at home from now on, mutt. Just because you're a dog, doesn't mean you can sleep in alleys. I can't be worrying about you all the-" Kaiba caught himself. "-It bothers me when you act like an idiot." He continued walking.
Jounouchi had stopped.
Did he just say..? No. He couldn't have… That's just wishful thinking…
Jounouchi trailed after the brown haired boy. Suddenly, he wasn't feeling as cheerful anymore.
Idiot.

Ryou leaned back in his seat. Everyone that was scheduled to meet for detention had already arrived. It used to be that detention was held in the cafeteria, but they recently changed the system. Now, they just assigned everyone a certain day and room. In the old days, no one really cared about staying for detention, because it was held in a big cafeteria, with only two teachers guarding it. Sneaking out after attendance was called, or sitting there talking to friends was relatively easy. So no one cared about getting it. Now, though, sneaking out was next to impossible, and talking was pretty hard to pull off. People actually started going out of there way to not get detention. Lucky him. He had his yami to keep him company. /Hey, Bakura?/
//Yeah?//
/What were you talking about earlier?/
//What? About me wanting to lick every part of your body?//
Ryou immediately collapsed into a coughing fit and had to apologize to those around him. A girl even came up to him and patted him lightly on the back. "Arigato, I, uh, choked on… Spit," he explained. "Gomen." He was very red. /No, Baka! I meant about what you were talking about a little while ago! About Kaiba?!/
//Oh, that,// the white haired spirit laughed. //Well, why don't you see for yourself?// He motioned for Ryou to turn towards the door. There both Kaiba and a down looking Jounouchi stood being reprimanded by the teacher about coming to detention tardy. //Interesting, that, don't you think, eh, hikari? Both of them, coming in together? Especially, when Kaiba could easily have been here on time. Hm?//
Ryou turned to look at his yami and quirked an eyebrow.
//Rather peculiar, wouldn't you say? Almost as if Kaiba went out to find Jounouchi so they could both come to detention together.// Bakura made the implication obvious. //I think they're screwing around.//
Ryou almost choked on spit again. /Are you /insane/?! They hate each other! How could you imply… That /anything/ might exist between those two?!/
Bakura folded his arms and grinned. /It's fun. And besides, take a look for yourself./
Ryou looked confused, but turned anyways. The teacher had finally finished his doled out speech about `the evils of coming to class tardy' and had finally allowed the two to sit down. Ryou knew for a fact that Kaiba liked to sit in the far back of the classroom, in the corner desk. And that usually no one ever sat next to him. In fact, as a rule of thumb, no one ever sat next to him.
Unfortunately, for the CEO, all the desks in the far back corners of the room had already been taken. Ryou could hear the chuckles coming from Bakura as Kaiba glared at those unfortunate few who where unlucky enough to have taken the scary CEO's favorite seats. They withered in their desks. The poor students looked as though they were ready to jump out at any second and give up their place to the brunette. Ryou did find it somewhat amusing that the boy could single handily shift the demographics of the classroom with just his glare. Then something odd caught Ryou's eyes. Jounouchi was just standing next to Kaiba.
//See? You notice it too, right?//
/He's… Waiting?/ Ryou nodded confused.
Kaiba then seemed to not find it worth his time anymore and simply walked up to a desk near the front row, and sat down. The front row offered many free desks as most of the other students had accumulated near the back. Jounouchi followed and sat in the desk right next to Kaiba.
/I don't believe it./
Bakura laughed.
Jounouchi turned around slightly, looking around to see who else was in the room. He vaguely noticed that he was getting stared at from practically everyone in the room. Rule of thumb, again: no one sat next to Kaiba. No one. He shrugged and turned back facing the front in his desk.
I guess it is kind of weird that I'm sitting next to him. Hm? Actually, why am I sitting next to him?
Kaiba sat at his desk, arms crossed, scowl in place, and eyes set dead forward.
Why the hell is he sitting next to me? God damn it, that mutt is acting weird!
Ryou still stared at the two sitting figures.
Why are they sitting next to each other?! This is too weird!
Bakura scratched his crotch.
I wonder if I can get Ryou to suck me later today?

Yugi stood behind the counter of the Kame Gameshop. Gi-chan was in the back filing out some paperwork and preparing for that weekends tournament. Every Sunday afternoon, a little tournament for local card players was held in the neighborhood game center. Gi-chan always volunteered to host it and his shop always donated the prizes. It also provided very nice tax cuts, which Yugi`s grandfather very much enjoyed.
Every now and then, a few kids would walk through the doors of the shop, look around, ask a few questions, maybe talk a little with Yugi, buy some cards, and then leave. It provided Yugi with a never ending assortment of entertainment as he sat there behind the counter.
//Aibou?//
/… Yes, Yami?/
//There is something that I've been meaning to talk to you about.//
Yugi sighed. /What about?/
//Aibou, I've noticed that lately-//
Here it comes.
Yugi thought.
//-That lately Jounouchi has been acting oddly.//
Yugi looked baffled at Yami.
You notice him, but you don't notice me?
Yugi felt slightly hurt.
/I've noticed it too,/ he agreed.
//He seems… Distracted. And sad.//
/Yeah./
Distracted and sad.
//I have no idea why, though.//
/I don't either./
Distracted and sad. Just like me.
//Maybe we could ask him again? Try to get him to talk to us about it?//
/Yeah.//
Distracted and sad… Just like me?
/Wait Yami!/ Yugi suddenly looked up. /I think I know what's wrong with Jounouchi-kun!/
* * * * * * * * * *
OK. So, what was that about earlier?
Kaiba stared ahead ignoring everything around him.
I was in the storage room, and Jounouchi was in the cot. And I was looking at him, and he looked… Very good. Hm? So, he looked good? Hm. That's odd.
The CEO turned to glare at the boy sitting next to him; the only one sitting next to him.
And now, he's acting all buddy, buddy with me. This is just… Strange.
Jounouchi sighed.
Hm?
He could have almost have sworn that Kaiba had been looking at him.
Pshew. Get real, Jou. Why the hell would he look at you? I don't know, maybe… He likes what he sees? Oh, like- Man, you're stupid! Yeah, I know, I know… Like that could ever happen. I bet he's still kinda' ticked off at me `cause I threw that desk at him. And that Haga kid. Stupid insect boy. Ugh! I got a crush on the worst person damn possible!! So, what are ya' gonna do about it, hm? Well… I can ignore it, I guess. Do you really wanna do that?
Jounouchi gulped. His brain sometimes posed the most annoying questions.
No really.
He confessed.
Are you gonna tell him..? Are.. You… INSANE!?!
Jounouchi almost laughed out loud.
Hell, no. I think he'd kill me. Maybe. Possibly. Probably. Yeah, he'd kill me. Or laugh at me. That'd be worse. No, I can't tell him. Sooo… What then?
Jounouchi shrugged.
I don't know. I think… I… I like being around him. Really? I thought you hated him. I do. I mean, I did. But… I don't know! I wanna be near him! Well… You could just become his friend?
Jounouchi suddenly looked like the world's greatest epiphany crash landed in his eye.
That's a great idea! I mean, he doesn't have any friends. Heh, the word 'Kaiba' and `friends' is like mixing oil and water, but that's it! I'll be his friend! You know… That's easier said than done. Shut up! It's better than talking to you! Aw, now my feelings are hurt. Heh, heh. Thanks man! I knew I could count on you!
Jounouchi finishing thanking his brain for thinking, and then smiled. He snuck a look at the boy sitting next to him-
He's not too bad.
-The one emanating rays of evil and darkness. Jounouchi sweat dropped.
Even if it somehow kills me, I'm gonna get Kaiba to be my friend!
* * * * * * * * * *
//So it's agreed then?// Bakura asked his hikari.
Ryou nodded. /Yup. There is definitely something up with those two. They keep looking back and forth at each other./
//Told you. So? Should we… Oh… Take advantage of it?//
Ryou frowned. /I don't like where this is going./
Bakura laughed. //Just a little black mail is all.//
/No./
//Just a little-//
/No!/
* * * * * * * * * *
I think… He might like me?
Kaiba snorted.
That's ridiculous. That boy hates me. Hell, I hate him. Why the hell would he like me?
He snuck another look and saw Jounouchi with his eyes closed in a huge smile. An odd twang reverberated through his chest. Kaiba turned away.
OK, what was that?!
Kaiba was actually starting to get slightly scared.
I wonder if I might be getting a heart attack? That would be very unlikely though. I'm in perfect physical condition… And so is Jounouchi.
Kaiba's thoughts shifted to images of the blonde's muscular abs and well toned body.
….. Why am I thinking about that? This is very… Different.
Kaiba truly was confused. See, the CEO had spent his entire life getting to were he was. Studying and self sacrifice had been his only friends. People had always betrayed him. First his parents, when they died. Then his relatives. After they had finished sucking up all of his and Mokuba's inheritance, they had essentially ditched them at the orphanage. That was were he had met Kasaro Kaiba, the wealthy owner of Kaiba Corp. From there on out, his life had gone downhill. With the exception of Mokuba, everyone he had ever met had tried either to kill him or screw him over in some way, shape, or form. Even Yugi, or his 'supposed' other personality, had tried to kill him. He simply did not know how to trust anyone anymore. And as a result, he had closed off his heart to the world. Kaiba looked over to see the blond almost giddy with amusement.
So then why does my chest feel so tight when I see him smiling?
* * * * * * * * * *
Yami looked at Yugi with a face of surprise. //In love?!//
The smaller tri color haired boy nodded intently. /Yes! Think about it! He's been depressed and sad lately, right? And very distracted? And he's in a new class! What if he likes someone from his new class!?/
The older spirit thought about it for a while. //I suppose it could make sense, but… Shouldn't feeling love make someone happy? Not the opposite?//
Yugi could almost feel his heart rip a little. / It should, unless… The feeling is not returned./
//Oh! I understand now!// the pharaoh said completely missing the underlying meaning. //Still, if this is true, why would Jounouchi keep it from us?//
Yugi shrugged. /Everyone has there reasons./
Yami looked down at Yugi. He was frowning. He looked sad. And distant. And for the first time, Yami took note of it. A chilling thought ran down his spine.
How long has it been since I last saw my aibou smile?
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Ah! Another chapter, another essay for ENG put on hold. Gods, I hope I don't fail that class *sweat drop*. One of my betta fish died. Not the pretty white Ryou fish though, so that's good, but aw. It makes me sad when my fish die. Oh, I've managed to get $1100 in my 'get me a kick-ass bike' fund. Whoo! I still can't get over it. I can't wait till I'm cruising down the road in Lucille. That's what I'm gonna name my bike. Heh. Such a stupid name.

DemonandGoddess
Yeah, the Japanese version is kick-ass(er). I get the DVDs off eBay. You can get all the series up until the latest episodes from Japan for about $130, give or take. That's 183 episodes on 22 disks. And the subtitles are amusing sometimes. Like when Kaiba starts calling Jounouchi 'chick.' Ah, that was high-larious! Not to mention the story stays intact and it's not cut! Ah, and yes! I agree, my second favorite pairing is Kaiba/Jou!
Mooselini McSqueegee
Ah, it's good to know that you won't hold anything against the fic for the Yami/Yugi pairing. Yeah, for some reason, I know lots of people that aren't very into that pair. Odd. To me they just seem to obviously go together. Hm? Maybe that's why? I just can't see Yugi with anyone else. Who do you thing that Yami and Yugi should pair up with? I'm interested in knowing!
Tamlin
Yay for me! Indeed! I love getting on the favorites list. Hell, if it weren't for the fact that I'm writing this, I'd put it in my favorites list too! Oh, gomen. My ego's showing, heh. Ne, thanks! Ego busts like yours are what gets me writing! And, personally, I'm still not really all that sure on how I'm going to work out the Yami/Yugi thing. I have an idea, but… Heh. I'm diligently working on it!
Velvetina
Whoo! New reviewer! Yoh. Yay! Another one that likes the Bakura/Ryou pair! Yeah, they're my favorite. 'Cause they're both so incredibly… Hot. Gee. And the Kaiba/Jou 'cause… They're very interesting, don't ya' think? ….. Hm…? *gasp!* You used the word 'reckon'!! Oh, my! I've never seen that word actually used by another person online before! Are you from the south, by any chance, hm?
Zoey Hellmaster
Ah! Ah! Ah! You are my new temporary idol!!! Your site… It kicks the ass of kickass! Yes, my posse and I have basically lived at your site for the past week! On my old computer, I used to have your site saved to my favorites and I used to go there all the time to read the Slayers fics. That was like three years ago! Then my computer crashed and I lost your site name. Oh! The sadness of that day! But, now I got it again! Oh, the rejoicing! And it's got so much more stuff too! I was bouncing all around when I was surfing it and RyokoMink had to yell at me to stop, heh. Oh! Do you think that I could give you this fic to post on your site? In the YuGiOh! fics section? It would be a great honor and all that other stuff!
Sakayora
Heh, forgetting stuff, eh? Yup, that happens to me too! Sometimes I'm in the middle of typing, and then I completely forget what the hell I was going on about and end up typing like, the recipe for Japanese Cheesecake, which, by the way, I made yesterday, and it was delicious. What was I saying again? Oh, yeah! Forgetting! Um… Yes. OK. Hm. For some reason, my family says that eating fish help to not forget stuff. I'm going to assume that's an old wives tale. My family is odd.
Rowan Girl
Yoh! What's up mah something, something, etc?! Ah, RyokoMink and I were discussing you the other day. We both think it's pretty crazy the sheer amount of fics that you've reviewed. Yeah. We are both very impressed. Very. Heh. Oh, and yes. I fully intend to give Ryou what he so longs for… But not quite yet. Heh, heh. Him getting some is going to actually be a major plot device, but shhhh!! Don't tell anyone! Sore wa himitsu desu!
^ ^
RyokoMink
Ha, ha! Yes, yes, we both know you hate Anzu. And yes it is ironically amusing that both Anzu and Anthy sound alike. And as for your dry erase pens… Um… I fear I must say, that I think they might be somewhere in the abyss of my garage. Fear. They are lost. Forget them. They are gone. Sadness. I think I just made a poem. And yes, antagonist have to pee. I remember he other day when you had to empty your bladder…
Al
Adorable yaoi? Wouldn't that be shonen ai? Whoo! Go oxymorons. Ah, but onomatopoeia, those are amusing! Eh? Kaiba and Jounouchi having all the luck? In which way? And yes, Ryou and Bakura in detention together, but… I was thinking it would have been more entertaining, you know. Hm. I'll have to alleviate that with a little mischief! Oh! I have the perfect solution! Oh, just wait for the next chapter! This is going to be funny! Thanks for the inspiration, ne!
Lauryn R
*nods* Here's another chapter for ya'! Enjoy! And I know what you mean, so many fics out there, so little updating, heh.
