[Your voice that I can't hear and can't reach me gets blocked by crowds and disappears.]

"Na-nan da to?!" Yami stared down at Yuugi, unable to decipher the expression in his large eyes.

"Do you love me?" Yuugi repeated, and this time Yami caught a waver in his other's voice.

"I…I honestly….What do you mean, Jonouchi told you?" Yami said slowly, trying to squelch his rising fear.

"Ano…" Yuugi looked away, then back up at the spirit. "We were talking about the new girl he's set his sights on, then I guess one thing led to another, and he just… sorta blabbed it out." Shrugging, Yuugi rubbed the back of his head.

"I never…." Yami faltered, seeing Yuugi's eyes lose some of their shine. Frowning, Yami pushed on.

"I've never told anybody whether I loved you or not…. And frankly, I've never thought of you as anything beyond a very close friend-an aibou." Catching the slight sag in Yuugi's diminutive frame, he held up a hand.

"But that doesn't mean our relationship can't evolve beyond that, Yuugi."

"H-Hontou…? You mean it, mou hitori no boku?!" Yuugi beamed, tears gathering in his eyes. Overcome with happiness, he glomped Yami.

After a small pause, Yami awkwardly put his arms around Yuugi.

"…Of course…Aibou, you realize that this means…."

"Hn? Nani?" Yuugi pulled away slightly, smiling up at Yami.

"Things might be strange for a while. I've never been able to maintain a romantic relationship with anybody…and you know what I am….?" Yami sighed, kneeling down to be eye level with Yuugi.

"Ah…. Pharaoh?"

Yami's eyes grew wistful for a moment. Shaking his head, he put his hands to Yuugi's Puzzle.

"Iiya, Yuugi. A spirit." Taking Yuugi's shoulders, he stared intently into his other's eyes.

"Here in this time, I live in your Puzzle. I can make myself solid without using your body if I so wish, but I am still not human."

Yuugi frowned.

"What are you talking about? If Noah was a human, then you are too! His mind may have been inside a computer, but he was human, not a machine."

"I'm dead. I'm never changing. But you…you'll grow older, graduate from high school, go to college, get a job…" Yami shrugged.

"Did you hear what I just said, mou hitori no boku?" Yuugi stepped back, annoyance beginning to show in his eyes. "You are still human. Humans can love each other…."

"Yes, but would you still want me to be with you ten years from now? Twenty years? You'll be that much older, while I'll remain the same." Yami stood up.

They faced each other as the rain continued to fall outside.

INTERNAL DIALOGUE!

Cody: Yuugi still has the glasses on! X3

Yuugi: …T_T;

Cody: …So much for the fluff. *sighs* Maybe later. Y'know, I originally intended for them to face this problem later on, but Yami's too perceptive.

Yami: *nods* Arigatou.

Cody: >_< *smacks*

Yami: Itai! What was that for, you bastard?!

Cody: *smacksmacksmack*

Yami/Cody: ….RAWR! *scuffle*

Yuugi: ….>_>;; *pulls curtain in front of Cody and Yami* Ignore the psycho people… A review might assuage the author.

Cody: *smackage*

Yami: Dammit! MIND CRUSH!!

*BOOM.*

Yuugi: …o.O;; Be right back.
