Legacy of Seraph

Chapter Four

Yugi and Joey ran into the Egypt Exhibition, followed closely behind by Tristan, Duke, Tea, Serenity, and Yuan. Seeing no sign of Ishizu, they ran into the storage area. Ishizu was in there, locked in a duel with a mysterious man. From the looks of it, she was losing. She looked like she was in pain, and she had only one monster on the field. As the group ran to her aid, the spirit of the pharaoh in Yugi's Millennium Puzzle awakened.

"Stop this duel right now!" Yami Yugi shouted.

The Westram looked up from his duel and saw the Millennium Puzzle. "You have a Millennium Item," he said. "You will be giving that to me."

"Pharaoh . . ." Ishizu breathed.

"No, the Millennium Puzzle belongs to me!" Yami responded. He then set his Duel Disk for a duel. However, Yuan stopped him.

"A duel won't be necessary, Pharaoh," Yuan said. He then pulled Seraph from its scabbard. The sword began to glow. "Does this ring a bell, Westram?"

"So, you saw through my disguise," the Westram remarked. "And why should I be afraid of a simple blade?"

Yuan put Seraph away, surprised. I guess he wasn't there when I made my escape.

The Westram then looked at Yami. "I shall duel you. When I win, I will take your Millennium Item."

Joey turned away and grinned. 'That idiot. He has no idea what he's getting himself into.'

"Dark Magician!" Yami shouted. "Attack my opponent's Life Points directly!" The Dark Magician fired a blast of magic that hit the Westram and annihilated the rest of his Life Points. The duel was over, and the Westram was unable to even touch Yami's Life Points. The Westram's Duel Disk fell off his arm and he ran away.

Yami walked over to Ishizu, who had fallen to one knee. He offered his hand to help her up, and she got up with his help. "Thank you, Pharaoh," Ishizu said. "But who was that man?" She then looked over at Yuan, who froze. "And who is he?"

"Dis here is Yuan McCann," Joey said. "He's a duelist, just like us."

Yuan blushed. "A p-p-pleasure to meet you, Miss . . ."

"I am Ishizu Ishtar," Ishizu said. "Although I would prefer if you called me Ishizu. Pardon me, but are you by some chance related to Charles McCann?"

"Yeah," Yuan said as he grinned sheepishly. "He was my father. But please try to keep that on the lowdown. I hate too much publicity."

Ishizu nodded. "Do not worry. Your secret is safe with me."

Yuan walked forward to look at the Duel Disk. Then, he felt something. He pulled Seraph out of its scabbard and pointed it at the Duel Disk. "This is weird. Seraph is reacting to the Duel Disk." He then picked up the device. "Holy cow! I feel a lot of power!"

"Let me see," Yami demanded. Yuan handed the Duel Disk to the ancient pharaoh. He inspected it for a moment. "It's just as I thought. This contains the ability of a poor soul who was taken by the Westrams."

"No way!" Joey shouted.

"You're kidding!" Tea exclaimed.

Yami shook his head. "It seems that the Westrams channel their victims' dueling ability through their Duel Disks."

"Pardon my interruption," Ishizu said, "but would someone please enlighten me as to what is happening?"

"Um, do you have anywhere we could sit?" Yuan said, scratching the back of his head. "This will take a while."

-4-

"No!" Ishizu exclaimed. "How can this be?"

"I think the Millennium Eye may have something to do with it," Yuan said. "Yugi himself said that both the Millennium Eye and the Millennium Ring disappeared a while back. The Westrams may have taken them."

"At least dey took da Millennium Eye," Joey said. "For all we know, da Millennium Ring coulda returned to Bakura. It wouldn't be da first time."

Ishizu pressed her fingertips to her temples. "I never thought I would do this," she said. "I may have to unseal the full power of the Egyptian God Cards."

"Uh, pardon me," Yuan sheepishly held up a hand, "but what exactly are Egyptian God Cards? Kaiba mentioned them, but he didn't bother to explain."

Ishizu looked at Yuan. "Uh, but if it's too much trouble, that's fine," Yuan stammered. "I don't want to impose or anything-"

"No, it's fine," Ishizu said. "The Egyptian God Cards are three monster cards that carry nearly limitless power. They are Slifer the Sky Dragon, Obelisk the Tormentor, and The Winged Dragon of Ra. They all have powerful monster effects, and they are immune to all enemy effects, spell cards, and trap cards."

"I currently own Slifer the Sky Dragon," Yugi said. "Its effect gives it additional strength in proportion to the number of cards in the player's hand."

"Seto Kaiba currently owns Obelisk the Tormentor," Ishizu said, "and I have the Winged Dragon of Ra, although I do not use it. Unfortunately, it is currently in its Sphere Mode. It cannot be used as is."

"So, what do we do?" Yuan asked.

"If we wish to awaken its Battle Mode, we need a person to say an incantation," Ishizu said. "However, the incantation must be said in ancient Egyptian, and the only person who knows the incantation is my brother, Marik. Currently, he is in Egypt right now, so if you wish to awaken the card, at least two of you should go to meet him."

"Why two?" Yuan asked.

"The Sahara Desert is treacherous," Ishizu said. "If you wish to be safe, you should always travel with somebody else. I recommend that you go to Domino Airport as soon as you can to schedule a flight to Cairo."

"That won't be necessary," Yuan remarked.

Everybody looked at him. "Why not?" Duke asked.

Yuan pulled out a cell phone. "Why take a commercial airliner-" he flipped the top up - "when your uncle has a private jet? Remember, my Uncle Artis is a multimillionaire, almost a billionaire."

-4-

"Mr. McCann, there is a phone call for you on line two," Artis's secretary, Charlene, said.

Artis rubbed his temples. "I thought I told you to take no more phone calls today," he muttered.

"Sir, it's your nephew."

Artis snapped up. "Well, why didn't you say so? You have to tell me these things, Charlene! I'm not a mind reader." He grabbed his desk phone and pressed the line two button. "Hello, Artis McCann."

"Hey, Uncle Artis!"

"Yuan! Good to hear from you! So how did the meeting with Seto Kaiba go?"

"It went fairly well, I guess," Yuan responded. "He said he'd get back to me in a few days, after he had a little bit of time to try it out."

"So, what are you calling about? I get the feeling it just wasn't to say hi. You're not the type who is willing to waste his minutes."

"I need to ask you a favor," Yuan said. "I need to use your private jet. I need to get to Cairo on urgent business."

"Egypt?" Artis asked, confused. "What for?"

"Let's just say it will help me avert any more disasters like what happened back home."

"I understand," Artis said. "I'll sent the jet right away."

-4-

Yuan put his cell phone away. "Uncle Artis said he will have the jet sent immediately," he told the rest of the group. "Now, I guess we will decide who is going to go. I think I should, since we'll only get on the jet if I'm there. Who wants to go with me?"

"I'll go," Joey volunteered.

"Now all that remains is to determine who receives The Winged Dragon of Ra," Ishizu said. "However, each Egyptian God Card chooses its user, so there may be a change of plans." Ishizu walked off to get the card.

"So, who do you think it will be?" Yugi asked.

"Probably you, Yug," Joey answered. "You already have one God Card."

"Yes, but that isn't really a guarantee," Yugi said. "Any one of us could get it."

"Not me," Tristan said. "I'm not a duelist." Duke, Tea, and Serenity all agreed.

"So that leaves Yugi, Joey, and Yuan," Duke deduced.

"I don't think it'll be me," Joey said. "Dere's no way I could control Ra."

Then, Ishizu returned with the card in her hand. "It is time for The Winged Dragon of Ra to pick its user. The user will be . . ."

Yuan felt a strange pulse coming from Seraph. He pulled the sword from its scabbard and found that the sword was pulsing with light. 'Strange . . .'

"The card has made its decision," Ishizu stated. "And I think the recipient already knows as well. Do you accept, Yuan?"

Yuan stood up and nodded. "I will accept The Winged Dragon of Ra. I will use its powers well." With this, Ishizu handed Yuan the card.

Yuan gazed upon the card. "So this is an Egyptian God Card," he breathed. "Incredible. Although I'm sure it will be an even greater sight to behold when it is awakened."
