I don't own Yu-Gi-Oh! However, I am a duelist and one card was the inspiration for this fanfic. The card? You'll find out later.

Soon… I shall awaken soon…

The thoughts of a madman. Or more accurately, the thoughts of a dreaming sorcerer/madman. One of which was more than 5,000 years old. Who lay sleeping in a tomb surrounded by dragon relics. Carvings of dragons and 3 6 ft. dragon statues surrounded him. He lay in this state for one purpose.

Revenge.

"Doctor?"

Dr. Samuel Jackson crept into the bedroom-sized crypt. Hours ago, his workers had uncovered this tomb that had somehow escaped detection until now.

"This is magnificent. Joseph! Come look at these carvings."

Dr. Joseph Calabris crept into the crypt and joined his friend. The carvings were magnificent. But they were also disturbing. "This person has an obsession with dragons." He pointed to the 3 statues. "Those are enough." Then he noticed something. The dragons… they seemed to be guarding something.

"Doctor!" One of the Egyptian guides discovered what they were guarding. A sarcophagus. Dr. Jackson ran a hand over it.

"No markings or hieroglyphs. That's strange." He pointed at the guide. "Help us open this!"

"Y-yes sir."

The 3 men braced themselves and, with much effort, pushed the lid off. What they found startled them.

A figure, adorned in sorcerer's robes, lay sleeping. The figure looked old enough to be a great-grandparent. Across his chest lay a 5-pronged medallion, with two emeralds crafted into slits.

Like eyes.

"My god. He's perfectly-"

"He's not preserved." Dr. Jackson held up the medallion. "But this is."

Then the unimaginable happened. The figures' eyes snapped open, revealing yellow slit-like eyes. The figure sat up and grabbed Dr. Jackson's wrist in a bony hand. Dr. Calabris and the guide stumbled backwards toward the entrance, only to find it blocked.

By one of the statues. That was now alive.

The 3 men's screams echoed throughout the tunnel.

Hours later, the figure stepped out of the crypt, fresh and young. He looked back at the 3 skin-covered skeletons. Then he looked up to the sky.

"At last."

He growled lowly. The 3 former dragon statues walked out of the crypt. They stood around him. Within the blink of an eye, they vanished.

The boy fell to the ground. He cowered as the cloaked figure reached downward. "Please don't kill me. I-I haven't done anything to you."

The figure snatched the boy duel disk and left.

The figure found a secure spot and waved his hand. Over a dozen tablets rose from the ground, each possessing a duel monster carving, all of which were dragons. All but 4. He muttered an incantation and the carvings disappeared. His duel disk glowed, as did the cards within. Then they stopped. He took out his cards and reviewed them.

Perfect. He grinned. The spell was successful.

"Come."

The 3 dragons came forward. He held out 3 empty cards. "Although I do this begrudgingly, I cannot attract attention." He grinned again. "But you shall aid me in taking revenge." The 3 dragons nodded. They glowed and were absorbed into the cards. He placed them into his deck and left.

Within the empty hallway, he suddenly appeared. He turned his head to the doorway next to him. "I detect a Millennium Item." He pressed the button on the wall and the door slid open…

…To reveal a woman sitting at a table. She looked his way. "I know why you have come."

He held out his hand. "Then just give me your Millennium Item."

"You'll have to beat me in a Shadow Game for it." She stood up and faced him. The Millennium Necklace glowed and shot a beam of energy. His cloak moved aside and the medallion's eyes glowed. In this way the Shadow Game went, until, finally, the girl fell to the ground, unconscious. He grinned and took 2 cards out his deck. He put them on the floor and held out the medallion. The cards flashed, and where they were, 2 of the dragons stood one of which had a sack around it's neck.

"Pick her up. She will make a good concubine."

The dragon gently hoisted her onto its back. He nodded and floated up to the ceiling where he vanished. The 2 dragons waited a little, then left the room.

As he floated toward the duelists above him, he growled, and his eyes flashed yellow. "Soon, pharaoh. Soon I shall take all that you hold dear, and you & the world shall fall before the might of… Draconus."

Whew! Done with that. The card you ask? Here it is.
