Life as an Anime-Pokémon
Chapter 1

I was walking through the forest viewing all of the wonderful creatures known as Pokémon. I had only heard of them the year before and decided to see what it was like in the anime for myself. Now my only problem was getting my first Pokémon since you needed at least one to capture others. I decided to seek help from the main character of the anime. And since I was in Pallet town I was in luck.

I ran as fast as I could, hoping Ash would be at his house since he usually was away on a journey.

I soon arrived at the Ketchum residence and knocked on the door. No sooner had I knocked, a middle aged women opened the door. I recognized her as Ash’s mom.

“Hello, may I help you,” she asked politely?

“Yes,” I replied. “Is your son Ash here at the moment?”

“Oh, you want to see my little Ashy do you,” she said opening the door to me. “Well your just in time cause were all about to have breakfast together, just have a seat and make yourself comfy.”

“Thanks,” I said as I sat down in a large arm chair.

It wasn’t long before Misty, Brock, Ash, and Pikachu came down the stairway to eat breakfast.

“Hi, you must be Ash, I’m Kitty, I’ve heard a great deal about you and how good a trainer you are, and I was hoping if maybe you could help me become a trainer?” Ash only smiled then at him mom.

All of a sudden, like lightning Brock appeared in front of me.

“I’ll help you become a Pokémon trainer and then you can be my-

Suddenly Misty grabbed Brocks ear and pulled him away muttering to herself something about Brock.

“So what exactly do you need help with?” Ash asked as I stared at Misty and Brock.

“I need you to catch me a Pokémon so I can get started on my journey as a trainer,” I pleaded. “So could you please catch me a Pokémon, please?”

“Sure, okay. But first lets eat,” Ash replied and then quickly ran to the kitchen. “Come on you guys breakfast is served.”

We all ate a good breakfast, then headed outside to see what kind of Pokémon we could find. There were all sorts of awesome Pokémon just waiting to be caught and all I had to do was pick one.

I saw a beautiful Ponyta and called Ash, Brock, and Misty over. For some reason Ash thought he could befriend the Ponyta and patted it’s mane, instantly the fiery man burned Ash and he began yelling. I was going to ask who would be so stupid as to do a thing like that, but coming from me it might have sounded like an insult. Ash finally came to his senses and threw a Pokéball which contained Squirtle, he then told Squirtle to use water gun and then bubble beam. The Ponyta didn’t like that and used flame wheel, but Squirtle dodged it and used skull bash. After that it was over. Ash threw a Pokéball and we waited to see if he had captured it.

The Pokéball beeped four times then made a sound that indicated it was caught.

“Here you go Kitty,” Ash said as he handed me the pokéball containing the Ponyta.

“Thanks Ash,” I replied as I took the pokéball. “I treat it well.”

“May I catch you a Pokémon now,” asked Brock.

“Sure, I guess.” I really wasn’t to sure about that guy, I mean he seemed harmless, and actually kind of cute, but something about him, probably his eyes that seemed almost closed.

We all searched around trying to find a Pokémon Brock could catch me. I could tell Brock was trying to impress me because he was really searching hard.

He looked under a bush because thought he had seen something, but instead to his surprise found an egg.

“Wow, an egg.” I said amazed.

“For you,” Brock said. “As a symbol of my love, but promise me that when it hatches that you’ll love it and treat it like a child, our child. What I mean to say is.........”

“I think we need to get you to a safer area, away from her,” said Misty as she dragged him by the ear.

All of a sudden the egg hatched and a young baby Pigey hopped out. The Pigey walked to me and began nudging at me as it made a soft coo.

“Oh, its so cute,” I said softly. “I should give you a name.” I why not Joey from the anime show Yu-Gi-Oh!, how cute I thought, a Pigey named Joey. “I know, I’ll name you Joey,” I said as I placed the cute Pokémon on my shoulder.

I decided to leave by myself so I could just enjoy the beauty of places I would be going to, so Ash, Misty, and Brock all decided to each give me a gift that I could use.

Ash was the first to give me a gift. He handed me a yellow and black backpack that was filled with fruit.

“Just in case you get hungry,” he said smiling. “I know I do.”

I thanked him. Now Misty gave me her gift, a long fishing rod with a Seadra lure attached to the string.

“Oh wow, a fishing rod, and look it even has one of my favorite water Pokémon as the lure. Thanks Misty.”

Last was Brock’s gift, and it was a yellow sleeping bag with a black lightning bolt symbol on it.

“I also got you this bandana with the same symbol as well. From now on this will be your symbol.” He said as he handed me a bandana.

“Awesome! Now all I need is a cool nickname. Thanks Brock.”

I packed all the items I had in my new backpack and said good-bye to Ash, Misty, and Brock.

And so my journey began. And it was turning out quite well.

I caught Pokémon such as an Arcanine, a Meowth, and of course the ones I already had, Joey my Pigey, and my Ponyta were with me as well. Joey was making also becoming very strong in his attacks and moves. Getting stronger and stronger each day.

We defeated many gym leaders and even a few trainers. Yep, life was good. And I was living in it, having the best time of my life.

One day as we were sitting down by a large oak tree, me and my Pigey, Joey, and I was reading a book I had gotten at one of those cute stores in a small town on how to become a Pokémon breeder when I spotted a small pink blob-like thing in some tall grasses. I quickly got up and grabbed a pokéball from my belt. I called out Arcanine and we began to battle. I didn’t know what kind of Pokémon it was, but I wanted it.

Our battle started out with Arcanine using his flamethrower, causing the pink Pokémon to take on some damage. But for some reason it began to form around and take weird shapes. It was then that I saw it’s true power. The Pokémon had formed into an Arcanine and suddenly used fire spin. Had it been my imagination? Had I just seen that Pokémon transform? And then it hit me, I knew what kind of Pokémon this was.

Quick as lightning I told my Arcanine to use his best attack, Fire Blast. He leapt into the air and aimed for the fake Arcanine. The blazing fire came down like a wave on the shores of Dewford and swept the fake Arcanine off its feet and down to the ground where it lay for a moment before it tried to get up. Seizing the moment I threw my pokeball at the Pokémon and waited to see if I had caught it. One, two, three, four. Yes! I had caught the Pokémon I know knew to be Ditto.

I decided to go to my last gym to get the eighth badge, but I got tired along the way and took out Ponyta so I could ride her to the next gym. On my way there I met up with Ash, Brock, and Misty. I showed them my Pigey who rode on my shoulder like Ash’s Pikachu. I also showed then my Ryhorn I had caught at the safari zone not long ago, my new Ditto, the ponyta Ash had caught me, my Ninetales, and my Arcanine. Then I showed them my seven badges that I had won at several gyms.

I continued my journey and battled as much as I could. But one of the battles we faced seemed harder then all the rest. The guy, Robert, had a lot of power Pokémon, including a Scyther.

We decided to battle one against one. I chose my Ryhorn, a perfect chose I thought.

“Ryhorn rock throw,” I yelled!

Ryhorn hurled several rock in the air, but before they hit Scyther used double team and dodged the attack. Then he jumped up and slashed my Ryhorn with a forceful blow. Ryhorn almost fell off the ledge we were on, but quickly came right back up.

“Ryhorn, are you okay?” I sighed with relief. “Now! Use horn attack.”

The attack only did minimum damage, allowing Scyther to make a come back with quick attack. It was then that Ryhorn used stomp by accident. All of a sudden the ledge that I was standing on began to crumble and then broke into pieces, and I suddenly fell into the ravine. Ryhorn tried to grab my hand, but I was falling to quickly, and I didn’t know what was going to happen to me.

Joey began to fly after me, but I knew he wouldn’t be able to fly me back up, but he tried anyway. It was just to much for him. He tried and tried to fly me up, but failed. It was just to much for him. Then suddenly something happened. Joey began to glow and then–he was evolving, allowing him to fly me up.

Yes, I was saved and Joey seemed so happy. In fact we were all happy because Joey had evolve into Pigeotto. But one thought still hung in my mind “FAMILY”. I missed my family and I wanted to see them badly. But that wasn’t the only reason. I also wanted to check out my favorite anime of all, Yu-Gi-Oh!

I had forgot about Robert until he began to inquire about my health.

“I’m just fine Robert,” I said smiling and then as I put Ryhorn in his pokeball I said. “I surrender Robert, you win. I really had to go, so until next time.”

“Yeah sure thing,” He said as he put Syther in its pokeball as well. “Look me up okay.”

“Yeah, Okay,” I waved to him as he walked down different paths. “Bye.”

I left the Pokémon world taking my Pokémon with me so I could take care of them. I focused on my home and my room and I suddenly appeared there in an instant.

My family didn’t know why I was so happy to see them because for some reason when I enter an anime the time in the real world seems to stop.

I lay in my bed that night flipping through the channel and finally found the one Yu-Gi-Oh! was on. I loved watching my favorite characters Bakura, Joey, and Marik duel. After the show I pulled out me deck and began looking through my cards. I looked at my rarest cards, my Blue-eyes White Dragon, and my two Red-eyes Black Dragons. These cards would definitely empress Yugi and his friends.

Later that night I lay in my bed listening to my music, imagining I was there in Yu-Gi-Oh! World with all of the characters, dueling with them and cheering them on in their duels against their evil opponents.

I fell asleep knowing that tomorrow would be the day I would see for myself what the land of dueling was like, in the anime Yu-Gi-Oh! And I would also try to meet and become friends with the characters. Unfortunately the time in Yu-Gi-Oh! was after battle city finals and it was going to be harder to find Yugi and his friends, but I didn’t care what the circumstances were. And even if I wasn’t able to direct myself to the exact time I wanted, I still desire more then anything to go.
