A/N: okay, I don't know where this one came from... all I know is that the general idea started, and Sweetie,
my loyal and faithful (though 100% evil) muse helped me with the details. Umm.. Sweetie? would you mind me having another muse?? Just one to help me...
Sweetie: (claws MR's Life-Sized Sexy Yami Plushie to shreds)
MR: I take that as a no... okay, what about a coworker to do disclaimers? _Permanently_
Sweetie: ^.^ mew!
MR: *whew* okay, Bakura!!
Y.Bakura: (grudgingly) Madame Ruby does not own Yu-Gi-Oh! or any of the characters... including me.
MR: good!! now, here's your reward... (hands Bakura chocolate)
Light and Shadows
Prologue
It is said that there is a place, not of this world, where creatures of any type imaginable live. There are
dragons, elfs, faeries, even spellcasters of all sorts. There were three people said to be different from all
others who played in games and tournaments held in this place of shadows. They were known as the Game King, the Dragon Master, and the Spellcaster's Prodigy. They played in a realm that seemed to shadow our own in many ways, sometimes even surpassing it in technology. And it was because of this shadowy similarity that the Egyptians, of which race the three mentioned before belonged to, called it the Shadow Realm, and played using magick, traps, and the monsters that dwelled there.
The Game King was a powerful Pharaoh, and the Dragon Master was one of his best friends as well as his High Priest. The Spellcaster's Prodigy, however, was a notorious thief and bounty hunter who used the Shadow Games to steal souls. What set him apart was the fact that he used so many spells in the Games, some that only spellcaster-type creatures could have mastered, which is how he earned his name. The Game King earned his name by winning every game he ever played, while the Dragon Master earned his by taming all types of dragons, especially the Blue Eyes White Dragon, of which four existed. With those four legendary dragons, if you were able to tame just one, the other three would also be under your command as long as you lived.
Unfortunately for all three of them, they never lived past their 25th years... You see, people like the
Spellcaster's Prodigy let the monsters of the Shadow Realm out in our world, to let them kill people while
they would watch with amusement. With the help of the Dragon Master, the Game King sealed the Shadow
Realm away, in the process sealing himself and six others, including the Spellcaster's Prodigy, into seven
Millennium Items.
Little did he know that while his soul remained trapped within it's prison, the Shadow Realm would halt it's
progress. Not one creature died, and no other was born. The Game King's faithful spellcaster, Karios,
foretold that a young boy who looked much the same as the Game King himself would solve the puzzle he locked himself up in; freeing not only the soul locked inside, but the boy's own magickal powers, both dark and light. The boy's powers would not be released, however, until after a trauma that shook both the boy's body and soul, when he would use them to gain access to the Shadow Realm to find help...
MR: yes, I know, it's _short_ but bear with me!! I'm working on one of my best plots ever!!
