Light and Shadows

Chapter 1

Yugi Mutou got the mail, seeing a large package in with the rest. He took it inside and set it down on the

table. Yugi, thinking his grandfather would know what it was, asked. "Grandpa, what's this?"

"Ah! That's for you, Yugi. I asked a friend of mine to send it. He said that it's reportedly an unsolvable

puzzle, and I told him that if anybody could solve it, you would."

"A puzzle! Great! Wait 'till my friends hear about this!" Yugi said, more than excited. Putting together

puzzles, his favorite pastime, came naturally to him, and the fact that he was given a puzzle beleived to be

unsolvable gave him a challenge to work on.

He took the package and ran up to his room, where he tore open the brown paper wrapping to reveal a golden box. He opened the box to find glittering gold pieces. He took the time to look over each piece carefully, memorizing what it looked and felt like. When he was done with all the puzzle pieces, he looked at two at a time to see if they would fit together in any way. Using this method, it was midnight before he solved it, stopping only to eat dinner and go to the bathroom. When he had solved it, the puzzle glowed, making Yugi jump back several feet. When the light died down, there was a young man that looked much like him holding the puzzle in his hands. He looked at Yugi, and said in a smooth baritone voice, "Are you the one that solved the Millennium Puzzle?"

Yugi didn't know what to say. "Millennium Puzzle?" he finally managed to choke out, not knowing what else to say. The young man moved closer, kneeling when he was right next to Yugi. "This is the Millennium Puzzle." He held out the puzzle Yugi had just solved. "I need to know if you are the one that soved it."

Yugi managed a slight nod, frightened of the person next to him. The young man must have sensed Yugi's

tension, because he embraced Yugi warmly, making the smaller boy lean into him. Yugi felt secure in this

person's arms, and pouted slightly when he let go. "What's your name?" Yugi asked the taller boy.

"Yugioh... though that was long ago... Now, though, I am linked to your soul, so I am no longer who I was. More than likely since I played the Games of Shadows, I am your darker half..." the young man said, a look in his crimson eyes that showed he was thinking, more than likely of the past.

"If... you're my darker half, it would make sense to call you Yami..." Yugi said, quietly and more than a bit

shyly. He stood up and hugged Yami, leaning his head on the taller boy's shoulder. "I feel... safe." Yugi said

after a minute.

Yami simply hugged Yugi, a feeling coming over him that he had not felt since he was a young teenager. He kissed Yugi's lips softly, and lust suddenly took over. He wanted to ravage the smaller boy's body, marking Yugi as his own forever. He found himself wanting to _hurt_ Yugi, but he wouldn't allow himself to do that. Yugi's innocence needed to be preserved at all costs.

Yugi responded to the kiss, gentle as it was. He instinctively opened his mouth slightly, letting Yami's tongue explore his mouth and enticing a moan from him. Yami pulled back, confusion etched in his features, and clear in his eyes. "Yami-kun..." Yugi started as he leaned his head on the taller boy's chest, "what's wrong??"

"There's nothing wrong, Yugi. I just think we're going a little too fast right now. Let's get some rest,

okay?" Yami said as he pulled Yugi to the bed, wrapping his arms around the smaller boy's waist protectively.

Yugi didn't say anything, but welcomed Yami's embrace, grateful for the feeling of protection he felt, and

also for the warmth, since it was getting cold out. Yami held Yugi long after both fell asleep.

Karios watched intently. The patterns were correct, he was sure. But there was something else that didn't

make sense. The Game King, becoming attached to this boy, his lighter half? It didn't make sense. The one

human friend that the Game King ever had was the Dragon Master. Other than him, Karios knew that himself and Furikaro were the only friends the Game King ever had, and the only people that he had ever treated decently. So why was Yugioh becoming attached to such an innocent, helpless boy? Karios studied the patterns of the stars more closely, trying to determine what the tragic event that the boy would go through would be.

Ryou Bakura stood whimpering in front of his darker half. "Please, don't hurt me. I just want to be left

alone..." he begged the white-haired demon that relentlessly beat him with a spiked whip.

"You expect me to stop? You should know better, boy!" the boy with the whip beat on Ryou again, causing a

long, thin gash, several centimeters deep on his pale skin. "I'll not stop until you tell me what you know of

these two boys, Seto Kaiba and Yugi Mutou."

"Y..yes Master..." Ryou whimpered, before proceeding to tell his darker half all of what he knew about Kaiba and Yugi, even down to what cards their decks were famous for. Those particular details had an interesting effect on the darker half, or yami as Ryou called him. The yami stopped beating Ryou. "You said that this Yugi has the Dark magician, and that Kaiba has three Blue Eyes?" he asked, impatience laced through his voice.

"Y..yes, Master." Ryou winced. He had nearly forgotten to call his yami 'Master' again. If he didn't say that,

he'd be severly beaten, possibly raped. His yami had threatened him with rape before, and he knew full well

that his yami was capable, what with his twisted mind and personality driving his every action and thought.

MR: WOW!! The plot thickens!! ^.^ It keeps getting more and more interesting!!

Bakura: (running around, glomping and groping various male YGO characters)

Yami: _This_ is why you shouldn't give Bakura any sugar...

Yugi: you act the same way when I give you Fanta...

Yami: O.O Fanta?? where?? (runs off in search of Fanta)

MR: >.< I'm hooked on that junk, and apparently, so is Yami... never give any normally serious or even abusive anime character any sugar, they will go on sugar rush, doing things you never would see them doing were they normal.
