Chapter 2
It had been so hard to justify the way people treated him, but there wasn't and they had no right. The cruelty that people had shown astounded even those whom paid no heed to that which happened around them. People change and that's what they couldn't seem to grasp. Though the rule of first impressions seem to hold true to them. What happened to friendship?
It went straight out the door, is where it went. The world and the people who inhabit it do not care for anything once they have what they want, nothing matters anymore. Sometimes the true happiness of one person is not enough to prevent the light becoming engulfed in darkness, yet maybe it could help shield against that which wishes to destroy those who wish to be saved.
I watched as Yami began to ignore me, being too tied up in being the popular guy, the 'King of Games.' It truly hurt that he forgot about me his Hikari, the other half of his soul, and the one who released him from the puzzle. But what was it that I could do? I could take my own life, run away, even resent him to the extent that all I am filled with is hate, yet what difference would it make and it would get me nowhere. I made the decision to keep on living no matter what road my life took, and to help those who fell below, into darkness. I decided to let my light keep shining bright.
That was when I noticed him. Trying so hard to be who he really was and not what everybody saw him as. A person. Not just some tomb raider, but a person.
I thought that maybe my light could shield him as it once did me, and it was then that I decided to help him, befriend him.

I could hear Yami and all of his friends down stairs talking freely and laughing all the same. Ignoring them I jammed my headphones down over my ears, switching on my portable disc player, and swinging my satchel over my shoulder, I headed down the stairs and straight out the door.
Even if I had chosen to live my life instead of dwelling on it, I had changed a lot, a change that I welcomed with open arms. My normal attire still consisted of black with the occasional studs, spikes, and chains, yet I have extras to match. Bolt in my left ear and double sleepers in my right, I have a nose, tongue, and nipple stud, along with a crimson python tattoo coiling around my right thigh.
That was where I was heading, to add to my collection. Walking into the tattoo parlor in the domino arcade I greeted the owner, Leo who was talking to someone at the counter, with a nod and started wandering around looking at all of the images on the walls. It was then that I herd a familiar voice.
"So has anyone requested any of the python designs?" It was the person standing at the counter that spoke.
"Yes actually, he was one of the first to have the design." Leo said pointing at me. It was then that the person turned around to face me. It was Bakura. What was he doing here?
"Yugi?" He looked a little startled to see me here.
"Hai." I gave a quick nod and then turned to talk to Leo.
"Do you have an image of a dragon that could sit centered, lower back?" He reached for a scroll of paper sitting on the counter in front of Bakura, and unrolling it, lifted it up for me to view.
"Hai. Will this do?" The parchment held the image of a black scaled dragon curled around an Egyptian lotus, the dragon had glowing rubies for eyes and a crimson flame that tipped the tail. I reached out to the image and ran my fingers over it.
"Its beautiful. Bakura, did you design this?" Bakura looked at me for a moment, raking his eyes over my body before looking back at my face.
"Hai I did." Leo pulled the parchment away and rolling it back up again he headed out back.
"I can do it for you if you like, although you'll have to come back around two, because I'm on my lunch break." I gave a light chuckle and headed to the door nodding.
"Well expect me to be back then ok?" Just before I reached the door I turned around to look at Bakura again.
"You want to join me for lunch? Consider it payback for tea the other night."
"Sure." With that we both left and headed for the food court.
Sitting down near one of the windows away from the larger crowds, we ate in a pretty comfortable silence. Admitting, Bakura kept looking at me and it was starting to get on my nerves.
"Ok spit it out or choke on it." He really did choke, guess he wasn't expecting me to be so out right. When he finally put himself together, fully composed he gave me a sneer.
"What would the great pharaoh think if he saw his Hikari in a place like that." Oh please the sincerity.
"In a place like what? Oh you mean the tat parlor. Quite frankly I don't give a damn what he thinks and what he doesn't know wont hurt him, or me for that matter." That subject was dropped like a ten-ton boulder.
"Leo said you had a python tat. Which one was it?"
"Yea, it was the crimson one. Another one of your designs?"
"Hai." The idle chatter went on until around two, which was when I started to head back to see Leo. Bakura deciding that he wanted to check out his design on flesh came back with me.

The drone was seriously getting to me. I was lying face down with Leo working on my back and Bakura sitting off somewhere to the--left?
"So um, happy birthday I guess." Huh? oh yea forgot about that.
"Don't remind me."
"It's your birthday?"
"Hai it is. Since his seventeenth last year, he said he was going to get another tat on his back, so I'm guessing this makes you eighteen huh Yugi?"
"Don't remind me." Bakura started laughing at that. It was kind of odd to here him laugh, heck it was odd to hear him talk normally.
By the time the image on my back was finished it was getting late so Bakura gave me a lift home, but when we got there it was probably the last place I wanted to be. Hell you could hear Anzu screaming Yami's name from half way down the street. Looking up at the game shop I just had to wince.
"You wanna crash at my place? Doesn't look like you'll get much sleep here tonight."
"Huh? Ah yea if its ok?"
"Sure, whatever." I climbed back onto the back of Bakura's bike and we headed in what I guess was the general direction of Ryou's house. When we got there no one was home.
"Where's Ryou?"
"At kaiba's with Malik. Probably won't be home till late." he headed to the fridge and pulled out a twelve pack of beers before going in to the lounge and taking a seat. Making himself comfortable he tore open the box and ripping the tab off his own beer he tossed one to me. I sat on one of the dinning chairs flipped so that I wouldn't lean my back on it.
"Looks like I wont be getting any sleep."
The boring part of conversation, one and a half dozen beers, a bottle of whisky and several hours later, I was finally beginning to feel the effects of the alcohol that I had managed to down, feeling the better half of tipsy.
"Can I see it?" Bakura was stretched out across the couch staring at the ceiling while talking to me.
"See what?"
"The python tat that you have."
"Huh? Oh yea sure, whatever, you're the designer." With out quite thinking I downed my pants so I was standing in my black boxers, and sitting back down again I pulled up the right leg on them, revealing my thigh. Bakura got up off the couch and coming over he sat cross-legged between my own. He moved his face up close to deadly snake that coiled its way around my thigh and examined it.
"It doesn't--"
"Bakura?! Yugi?!" I looked up to find Ryou and Kaiba standing in the doorway looking not to pleased to see the position that me and Bakura had managed to get ourselves into.
Oh hell what a day. Happy Birthday to me.
