Chapter 4

I remember that day clearly in my mind. Why? That was the day Yami first hit me out of anger. As soon as he arrived home his little group of friends had decided to tell him of my disappearing acts with you. He was sitting in the middle of the lounge, in the dark with fury written all over his face, as if a demon had taken control. The questions were simple enough until I snapped. I told him to 'get fucked,' and that 'it was none of his business.' That was when he hit me and said, 'I was his Hikari no one else's,' and 'it was his business if I had been sleeping around like a whore without permission.'

I had never felt so much pain, not just on my jaw, but in my heart as well. I just kept smiling even though it hurt, and moved on as though nothing happened.

That was when you came to me with the offer, I was to be moving in with you. I was elated at the suggestion, and had moved in with you the next day.

It has been a few weeks since, and Christmas is closing in on us. I was momentarily disturbed to find that Ryou and you did not celebrate the holiday, in fact you didn't even know how or even why to celebrate the holiday. With that knowledge I decided to shine a light on the holiday and show you a wondrous celebration.

You were out with Ryou, helping him run errands from the clinic he was working at for the season, while I was trying to set up a Christmas tree in the living room to surprise the both of you when you got home. Although it was proving to be a difficult task, with my reach I had almost managed to place the star on the top of the green Christmas icon when there was a knock at the door.

Sighing I jumped from the chair I was standing on, and placing the star on the coffee table, I headed for the door. Upon opening it I found Kaiba standing there all wrapped up in a winter coat and scarf.

"Ryou's not here," I explained, "He wont be back for a while because he's doing some work at the clinic." Kaiba nodded once and proceeded to turn and leave, and that was when it hit me.

"Wait!" He turned around and looked at me waiting patiently for me to speak.

"Um do you think you could help me with something?"

"Help with what?" I could tell me kind of wanted to leave, but if I could get even a small bit of help, I could get this blasted Christmas tree finished.

"Well you see I'm setting up a Christmas tree in the lounge, I can't quite reach the top to place the star and I would have liked to have the tree finished before the others got home." He was frowning at me now. What did I do?

"Ryou doesn't celebrate the Christmas season."

"I know and I was trying to make this year different, I wanted to teach Bakura about Christmas and at the same time let Ryou relax and have fun. I wanted to make them step out of their routine a little." He gave me a little sigh and nodded.

"Okay, ill help but I can't stay for long." I grinned and stepped aside to let him in.

"Thanks."

It had taken less that three quarters of an hour to finish the tree with Kaiba before he left, so I spent my free time cleaning and preparing tea until you got home.

I was just serving up a tea of steak and roast vegetables when I herd Ryou and you arrive home, it was silent a few moments before I herd you say.

"There's a tree in our living room Ryou." Followed by a, "There's a Christmas tree standing in my lounge." From Ryou. It was quiet for a few more moments until I heard you yelling to me.

"Yugi, are you home?"

"Hai" I yelled back, "I'm in the kitchen." Both of you walked through to greet me and we sat down to eat.

"Yugi why is there a tree in my living room?" I looked up to face Ryou with a tinge of red covering my face.

"Well you see I thought it would be nice if we, or rather you and Bakura, celebrated Christmas this year." He just smiled and nodded his head before you piped up.

"What's Christmas, and what's a tree got to do with it?" I gave a small smile at the quizzical look on your face before I began explaining.

" Christmas has a religious reason behind it, something to do with the birth of some guy called Jesus, on that particular day, and I believe people have celebrated it ever since. Every year on the 25th of December we celebrate with big feasts and give gifts to our loved ones, The gift concept comes from an old guy named Old Saint Nicholas, who on the night before, Christmas Eve, would give out gifts to young children or the poor. We also call him Santa Claus as a commercialized idea for young children, if you were good you received a gift and if you were bad your stockings were filled with coal.

I'm not exactly the type to believe in any of this so I just celebrate the holiday to have fun and spent time with family and friends. As for the tree I have no idea for its use, but it is a tradition to set one up and place gifts under it to open on the day." I stood up and began rinsing and putting away the plates and cutlery. Ryou also stood up and with a quick good night disappeared up stairs for bed. You made to stand and moved across the room towards me, pressing your body firmly against mine from the back and wrapping your arms tightly around my waist, you leaned over my shoulder and whispered in my ear.

"So I have to get you a gift to place under that tree, hmm this could be interesting." Your words sent an excited shiver down my spine.

Indeed this would be interesting.

You have no idea of what I have in store for you.

AN: (To those who are Christian I apologize for my blunt description of Christmas, as I am not religious as you can tell from my fairly demonic author name, so please don't take offence or comment on it.)
