A/N: *bows* gomen nasai! A friend suggested not introducing Death so rapidly, so I took her advice. But in the process, I had to make the chapter shorter. The ideas of Death will be introduced more thoroughly in this chapter, ok?

Disclaimers: I won't put them in from now on! I put them in the first chapter, and that's good enough!

Lives of Magic, Lives of Death

Chapter 2: Mosrael

Yugi listened, fascinated by Yami's description of Death. There were nine provinces, and nine gates. The first province was where Yugi had been visiting in his dreams and lay before the First Gate. Beyond the First Gate lay the second province, and so on. But when the Ninth Gate was reached, only those who have passed beyond it know what happens. However, since doing so requires one to truly die, not even a Necromancer could bring them back.
When Yugi heard the word 'necromancer,' he inquired into what it was. A Necromancer is a person who brings the Dead back to life, provided the spirit has not gone beyond the Ninth Gate. They can send servants out into the world, though the servants inhabit a rotting corpse. It is more common to see a Necromancer's servant than it is to see the one controlling it.
How can you tell a Necromancer from a normal person? Yugi asked, now scared that a Necromancer could be anyone he knew.
You'd never forget the bells they wore, aibou. It's the most prominent tool a Necromancer has Yami trailed off.
Bells?
Yami closed his eyes, remembering the dream he had just a few nights ago-the one memory he would have liked to stay locked away in his mind

The young Pharaoh watched as a handsome young man was brought in. What is his crime? the Pharaoh demanded.

This man has summoned a Mordicant and let it loose among the nobility. He has all the tools of a Necromancer, and the books showing the art a guard announced.
A Mordicant? Are you sure it was him controlling it? the Pharaoh inquired.
Of course I was controlling it! I hoped it had been able to be strong enough to get to
you , but instead it was stopped by your damned High Priest the prisoner yelled.
The Pharaoh narrowed his eyes. Sending the man to the Shadow Realm would be too risky. Perhaps Seth, who stopped the man, could possibly send him far into Death. Remembering the bells, he asked to see them. Running his hands on the fine leather bandolier, he stopped at the largest bell. Perhaps he could send the man alone in a room with a slave that would ring Astarael But if rung improperly, the whole plan could backfire. What should he do, other than trust Seth?

A Necromancer's tools include the seven bells, and other various tools that I've never seen, since they came about more recently than Egyptian times. Yami sighed.
So, it's unlikely that I'll ever meet a Necromancer? Yugi asked, relieved.
Yes. Although if you saw a Mordicant, it means trouble, even if not for us Yami trailed off, worried. After all, only the most powerful Necromancer could create a Mordicant and summon the spirit that drives it

MR: yes, I know another short chapter. However, don't ya just love the suspense I'm building? *grins* it means that I am able to really build a plot! ^__^ now, to work on my skills at making endings, since I'm horrible at them! >.<
