Yu-Gi-Oh! Fan Fiction ❯ Loop Hole of Love ❯ Magicked ( Chapter 9 )
Magicked
Avari's eye fluttered open and she caught sight of a huge purple sky above her. Wait...no that was a canopy.
Avari sat up in a pretty purple cotton bed, with a purple canopy covering it. Then she winced, so surprised at her surroundings she forgot her back, wich was presently in ribbons. Then she remembered that bastard Seto, and then at the same time remembered Domino.
As if he heard her thoughts, he came in the room with medicines and what looked like breakfast.
When he saw her awake he gave her one of his genuine smiles, and all but threw the tray of contents down on the ground and ran to her.
He held her like a glass doll, and it felt so right to be in his arms, though she couldn't help but notice those arms had filled out with nicely toned muscles since the last time she saw him at the awkward age of 14.
"Avari-" he began.
She put a hand to his lovely mouth and shook her head with a wearily happy smile.
"Enjoy this Domino" she said crooningly, and with that she looked into his dark green eyes, and decided that he looked happy, and she sure as hell knew she was.
He held er a few moments longer and then relinquished her, grudgingly.
He looked at her and studied her intently. Then he said so decidedly solem, and sober:
"You look diffrent...great"
And she couldn't help but laugh, and she did, she laughed and laughed, until she cried.
He held her to him, wisely saying nothing until she was ready to talk and once she was threw, she finally said:
"You look good too"
"Like the pecks?", he asked her in a laughing tone remembering memories of long past.
"Oooh yes" she said leering at him like a peice of meat, then rolling her eyes and laughing.
"Well I like yours too sweetheart" he laughed right back at her.
"Hmm what happened to that poor slave boy who used to be a thin as a strand of straw, and awkward as hell?" she said jokingly.
"The same thing that happened to the poor slave girl who was awkward of limb and leg" he said right back.
"They went to paradise, and didn't have to suffer" she whispered sadly.
"Yes" he whispered, squeezing her lightly once more and then releasing her to pull the tray up to him.
"On your back sweeatheart" he said lovingly, and smiled at her with some of his old wiley self.
"Oh my, what kind of girl do you take me for, sir!" she said in mock outrage, turning over with caution.
"Why I would never young miss!" he retorted right back laughing, then he whispered worriedly, "This may hurt".
"I'll be fine Domino", she said in her strong voice and let the blanket holding her chest fall, once she was safely covered between her body in the bed.
He took her at her word and gentle began to pour the cleaning fluids on her, to clean for infections and what not.
She winced and cursed softly, but bared it with out crying out. He safely secured her with proper bandaging and then as she lie on her stomach, she finally asked the dreaded question.
"What happened to you after you got sold?" she said softly.
"I went to paradise remember?" he said in a nicely fake cheery voice.
And before she could go into silence, and leave the subject alone, there was a brisk knock at the door and then a man stepped in.
He was as short as Avari wich wasn't hard since she stood at 5'4. He was dressed in stately garbe, and guessed this was Seto's high scribe. He was a decidedly, not handsome man, but not un-handsome either. With avaerage brown hair that went to his ears and brown eyes. But his manner was what was our in this apple.
"Greetings, I see that you are awake, good", he said in a uncaring voice.
"Wha would you have of her?" Domino said staring at his hands, probably because annoyance shone in his eyes.
"That is a matter I will discuss with her in private, leave" he said rudely.
"Domino I will be fine" she said putting a hand on his arm, and nodding.
"Fine" he said after a while, at one point she thought he would throw a fit, but thank Ra he didn't.
Once the door was shut, and they were alone, the scribe eyed her thouroughly, and then he spoke.
"Lord Seto has honored you with a position as his personal scribe" he said bitting off each word bitterly.
So that was why his undergarments were bunched, she had inherited his job. And by the look on her face she couldn't be more suprised.
"Why-" she was cut off abruptly, by the door opening with a great woosh, as the Pharaoh entered, his entourage behind him.
"Leave us Kaliel" , Yami said, his tone harsh and his stance even more so.
"Yes Lord Yami", Kaliel said backing out with a bow, as Kaliel and Yami's entourage left, momentarily.
His intense gaze landed on her and she involuntarily flinched, she had never seen the playful Pharaoh, so close to anger before.
He was heated at the sight of her amyethes eyes looking at him from a pillow as she lay on her back, her wounds so carefully covered.
He strode to her and was by her side in three strides, and he tore the bandages away in a harsh grasp of them.
She yelped in pain and then shut her eyes and told herself to breath...she prepared to be hurt more.
He let the bandages fall away from his and and he landed with a thud, in the chair next to her Domino was in earlier.
"What do I owe t-this honor Lord Pharaoh Yami", she said , and was angry to find her voice trembled just a little bit.
"Do not pretend obediance and amiability Avari" he said wearily, instantly fgeeling bad that she had used his full title, and not the sarcastic "Pharaoh", she used to spite him.
"I do not know what you mean Lord, you come in here wishing to do me harm...", she whispered.
His head jerked up annd his mouth made a small "o" as he realized.
He looked at the bandages, and his guilt hit him like a tidal wave, he hadn't even realized in all his angry haste.
"Avari, I-I am sorry", he said genuinely apologetic. He had no idea.
"Do not apologize to me, a slave, my Lord" she said softly against her pillow.
He grabbed her hand and forced her chin up to meet, him, who was kneeling beside her.
"Don't kneel, to me Lord" she muttered, knowing she was making him feel bad as he should.
She didn't get a response from him then looked into his eyes, which where no where near her face, but looking down...
"You arrogant bastard how dare you, I could be lying comatose and you woul-" she stopped short, looking at him now, as she sat up cltching the blanket to her chest.
"Why Avari, I don't know what your taling about", he said, and his face looked genuine.
"The hell you don't you lech!" she spat at him, angrily.
Then she stopped short, and looked as a grin spread his face.
"You did that to cheer me up didn't you?!" she sputtered sulkily.
His grin only widened, and she sulked.
He reached up for her hand and placed a kiss on it. Then darting away from her slap, he sat back in the chair, and really watched her.
She blushed and made sure she was covered then looked at him, as he continued to stare.
"I love that I can make you blush" he said, the look in his eyes had nothing to do with being Pharaoh, but purely male.
Her blush deepened and he laughed full-throatedly, another truly male sound.
"Stop it I'm covered you lech", she muttered angrily.
"I'm watching you, not your body...although that is lovely too" he added thoughtfully.
"Ha! Right...write a scroll, the Confessions of a Pharaoh Lecher!" she said with a little laugh.
"I should, but only if I have you to write it for me...I could use you as inspiration too" he said brilliantly.
They both laughed, and then Avari looked at him. He looked at her and something in his eyes made her ask.
"Whats wrong Pharaoh?", she said softly.
"That, is fairly complicated, and also something I do not want to discuss as of yet" he said seriously.
"Oh, alright, but what brings you here?", she moved on, making a mental note to try again later with it.
"The fool Seto does" he said pensively.
"This may seem vain, but is it about my back?", she said.
"Yes, you are quite right it has everything to do with you", he said.
"What about me? I'll heal so don't feel so bad-"
"It's not the point what he did to you! He had no right to inflict torture upon one of Magick!" he stormed passionately.
"One of Magick?" she questioned at the now standing Yami.
"Yes, I suppose you would not know, but you have Magick in you, small from what we could tell, but still there", he said, and he softened looking into those eyes.
"Magick, as in?" she quarried.
"Magick is what lets us control our Monsters, all most all humans have some, just enough to raise a weak monster to their side.", he said.
"Then that must mean you Mages have tremendous power right?", she said wide-eyed.
"Yes, we do, but our Magick is strong enough to be able to call the strongest monsters, and allows us to use the Mullenium Items as well. We have physical Magick, opposed to non-physical Magick, you might say." Yami went on.
"And since you have exhibited signs of physical Magick, you can no longer be ignored and passed off as a slave Avari", he said to her.
"I haven't done anything except summon the Dark Elf" she said, matter-of-factly.
"And you floated above the ground, I beleive your tie with Magick, is also tied with your emotions. It can be triggered with them.", he explained.
"Wow, so I'm one of you?" she said dubiously.
He laughed and said:
"Don't get uppity with me Avari, your not quite able to kill me yet!" he laughed throwing his hands up in the air.
"Why would I wish to kill you?" she said, and when he looked into her eyes, he saw such sincerity, such raw honesty, that he shyed in the face of it.
This girl had really NEVER thought to kill him! That in itself was...
"Avari..." he said without knowing it, and as he looked into those beautiful eyes.
And he loved her just a little more.
