Yu-Gi-Oh! Fan Fiction ❯ Loop Hole of Love ❯ Serving Seto ( Chapter 10 )
Serving Seto
Avari got up, and checked her window...it was about 4 o'clock in the morn. Good, she didn't want to be late to her first day as personal slave, uhem, scribe to Seto.
It had been about 2 weeks since her little talk with the Pharoah, and her back was much, much better, after they were done talking the Pharoah had used some of his magick, to heal her...well not quite heal her, but make it where the pain was bearable, and the scars were minimal. But she still had scars and it pained her.
He had talked to Seto and after a long battle, convinced him it would be in his best intrest to stop abusing Avari. In the best intrest for his health. Because it was just unhealthy to cross the Pharaoh, that is was.

Avari got dressed in her new blue robes. A standard toga like thing, and a cape bearing the Blue Eyes White Dragon seal.
She actually liked it, but she wouldn't admit it to her self or out loud, but Seto was a snappy dresser.
She followed the corridor on the left of her room, and bumped into a slave boy dressed in the seal colors. He had black hair and steely eyes. He couldn't be more than a young teen. Maybe 13.
"Sorry Miss", he muttered never raising his eyes. He was desperately attached to a small bundle.
"Quite alright young one", she said with a smile, and continued on her way.
She was almost there.
She pulled on the door, and entered a grand chamber. Well the only thing grand about it was its size, besides that it was just the standard cornflower blue silk sheeted king size bed, some vainities, a few drawers a wardrobe, and a desk. A big marble desk.
In the chair of that desk was Seto...asleep.
She figured he was a work-aholic. She betted he never used that bed, to sleep, and by the judge of his character...nothing else either. She doubted he found any slaves fit enough to bed him. Oh he probably had done one or two, maybe a year but she couldn't see him doing much else...only enough to satisfy his needs then that was it.
She coughed loudly, in hopes of waking him, but to no avail...this man was obviously exhausted. And she couldn't have been happier he was exhausted. Only she didn't think it wise to wake him. Regardless for her hatred towards him, she did not want to suffer his wrath.
She stood there, for what seemed like an hour then seeing he was sound asleep she walked over to his desk and studied the charts he was making.
They were remarkable.
They were complex. she squinted at them, trying to understand, then it popped into her brain all at once.
Pyramids. He was trying to construct great buildings. One was a pyramid, no one had been able to figure out how to get the top on the great pyramids, and everyone had given up on the notion. Well, apparently not everybody.
She looked at the next scroll, and almost laughed. It was a roughly drawn sketch of a Monster. A duel monster. Did he want to construct a building of the duel monster, Sphinx? That was laughable...like anybody would ever acomplish that task.
She browsed through more and finally sat down on a chair. She looked at him and his peircing blue eyes were intent upon her.
"I would have stopped you sooner but I know you didn't understand anything you just read so I humored you", he said distain dripping like venom off his words.
He obviously expected her to sit like all his other dumb slaves and nod and say "Yes, Master". But that just wasn't Avari. She said the truth.
"They are brilliant. A little far fetched but brilliant.", she said in a sincere tone.
"Oh? And what would you have understood of it?", he said, baiting her terribly.
"I am not that stupid, if I admitted to knowing anything of your personal plans then you could have me executed on the grounds of the information leaking", she said in a bitter-laughing tone, giving him a glare of hatred.
Seto leaned forward and was startled to see intelligence, sharp as a knife, pass through her eyes. He did not see that often, most of the slaves, came to the Palace, with it beaten out of them...trained to be stupid.
"And I am more than sure you could arrange all of that if you could have me fairly killed", she said harshly.
"Why would I promote you then kill you? Haven't you even wondered why I did promote you?" he said leaning back on his desk, and putting his large feet up on it gracefully.
"You are wise Seto, because you follow the same protocol that I do. Keep your freinds close, keep your enemies closer.", she said , with a bitter smile, the unsaid "But you don't have freinds", hovering in the air.
"Yes, you are a worthy enemy Avari", he said, his eyes burning a hole into her skull.
"But I will not do something for you to have grounds to kill me, I won't give you that satisfaction.", she said, lowering her eyes for good measure.
"And who says I wouldn't rather play with you first?", he mused, with an evil grin.
"Like I said before you are hardly stupid, and if you tell the truth and do see me as a threat, you wouldn't waste time eliminating me", she replied her voice and eyes void of any emotion.
"Well...I don't believe I have ever been out talked, but here you are speaking my mind. Oh yes you are dangerous Avari, and I would rather have you killed than waste time." he said.
"Then we know where we stand then" she said looking up, and straightening her posture.
"We do"
They looked at each other for a moment longer then he stood, and motioned her over to a small table about 20 feet from his. It was so small she didn't notice it.
"This is where you will work from now on be here at dawn, and start the transcribing of the papers layed out before you." he said in a brisk tone.
"I will leave and attend to my royal duties, you are not to touch anything that is not on your desk again, today was only for my amusement. If you do, then I will have grounds to punish you so stay here, work, and when you are done, report to my throne. I expect these done by noon today." he said talking to her like an incompetant child.
She nodded and sat down. After looking at her for a few moments he disappeared through his chamber door.
She sighed softly, and began her work...and what work it was.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Avari tromped through the long pathways, and corridors, to his Hindass's throne room. She had been served lunch for the day which as adequate and actually good, and she was still a bit hungry.
Did Seto worry about her losing her girlishy figure? Ha! that was laughable. Though she did wish she would have gotten a bigger portion.
She marched through the last corridor, to find a wide opening and two double doors with the Blue Eyes seal on them.
She knocked politely, and then the doors where opened by two slave men, having their heads bowed.
The throne room was just as big and as grand as Bakura's Huge...enormously huge, and lavish.
Seto may be a more simple to lavish man, but he didn't show it in his Throne room. Someone else must have decorated it.
He was sitting on his throne with his regal robes and deathly straight posture, and just for a minute Avari thought him handsome...
"There is my slave gentelman", he said, with a superior air, snobbish to be sure. There went the handsome...
She glanced around and found men sitting in chairs in front of him, and she thought these must be buisiness partners.
They all looked at her when Seto had pointed her out. She got manly leers all around.
Instead of being uneasy she straightened up and walked to kneel, at the side of Seto's chair.
She would act the part in front of buisiness men. She knew better.
He put a hand on her back, like a pet and her body stiffened, defintely not happy about it but she wisely kept silent.
As if sensing her tention, he took his hand away and motioned for her to rise, and stand a little behind his throne, like a proper scribe.
"You made a good investment in this one Mage Kiaba", a deep soft voice said from the end of chairs.
"Yes, I bet she can ...multi-task", one man said crudely, setting off a chain of manly laughes.
Avari stiffened, and her eye twitched a little, when Seto gave a small smile. Then looked at her with it. One of those smiles that says they are thinking wicked things.
She was pissed.
"Well gentlemen if you will all have your documents out, Avari will collect then, and make sure there are no falseness to them. I would hate to kill one of you for not being genuine.", Seto said, in a voice that should be talking about weather, not murder.
Seto motioned for Avari, to collect them and with a stiffness to her walk she went to them, and took the papers from them one by one.
One man, had unscrupulously groped her backside with dirty fingers and a harsh grip, and before she could protest, or knock his block off Seto interjected.
"Manical, you would do well not to touch what is mine again", he said his voice vibrating through the room, a hot current.
She resumed almost satisfied at his terror filled gaze.
Once she was done they dined and Avari disappeared in the back to check their documents...especially "Manical".
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
They were all drunk and when she was finished Seto looked like he wanted to kill about half of them.
She went to him and whispered in his ear, then handed the documents to him. He nodded, and she knelt by his throne again, as he rose.
Their idle drunken chitter stopped and they looked at him.
"Avari has found these to be accurate, so enjoy your food and drink, and I will have your transportation, to come and recieve you at mid night tonight. But now I retire", he said with a small, nod to Avari, they left.
They walked down the halland when she parted to go o her dorm. He stopped her and motioned for her to follow him.
They went to his chamber, and stopped. then he walked left from there, and about 10 feet away was another door, in wich he took a key and opened.
"You will stay here tonight and the night after that and so on. Here is a key, lock yourself in, I do not want those drunkards spoiling you tonight, so that you may not work tommorow", he said gruffly, and walked to his room.
She looked at the key in her hand and raised an eyebrow. Well Seto's thank you was not wanting her raped tonight. and giving her this bedroom.
Some thank you.
