Chapter 7

Yami wasn’t happy. Two hours of searching had turned

up nothing.

‘why doesn’t this presence show itself?’ he thought.

‘If they wanted the power of my millennium puzzle,

why not just duel me for it?’. Joey came up running.

“neither of the other guys has seen anything Yami.

This thing just doesn’t want to show itself”.

“oh well Joey I didn’t really expect for it to linger”

Yami lied through his teeth. He started to walk in

the direction Joey came . “But why didn’t it stay? I

thought that everyone was after your puzzle Yami”

Joey questioned, starting to follow.

“I don’t really know, lets go and talk to the others.

It must be long gone by now”.

“Hey Yami!” Tristan called. He and Y.Bakura were

waiting by the fountain in front of the school.

“Did you find anything oh pharaoh ?” said the sarcastic

tomb robber.

“If I had , I would probably be duelling it right now

wouldn’t I?” Replied the 5,000 year old pharaoh.

“It seems weird that this presence would just drop off

the face of the earth” Tristan stated.

“Hey guys!” shouted out a new voice. Turning around as

one, the boys saw Mai striding across the field.

“What’s up?”. Smiling, she took out a bottle of V.

“Hello Mai, Yami and Y.Bakura just felt this evil

presence and we were wondering if he was gonna duel

Yami” Yugi answered as they swapped back. “But it just

disappeared”.

“Oh ok. as long as you guys are ok.” Mai looked at

them more closely. “Hey where’s Tea?”

Joey shrugged “We don’t know, she wasn’t in school

today. Her uncle called her in sick for her. We didn’t

even know she had an uncle”.

“Her uncle called her in...” Mai paled as she fit the

pieces together “ Oh no! I gotta go and get her away

from there!” . She turned and started running towards

her car as the boys looked at one another, confused.

“Mai! what’s going on? you knew she had an uncle?”

Yugi started yelling and chasing after her. They were

getting quite a few looks from the people inside.

Yugi and the others didn’t care as they raced behind

Mai going as fast as she could in high heels which

was quite fast because she practically grew up in them.

“Mai! isn’t it possible that she isn’t here coz she

fainted yesterday and needed to rest?” Bakura yelled

out , nearly colliding with a trash can.

“It’s her the uncle calling in that worries me!” Mai

answered before jumping in her dodge. She quickly

locked the doors and gunned the engine before any of

the guys could even catch up. She drove off, leaving

them in the dust.

They all stopped as one, trying to catch their breath.

As he watched the car swerve at the roundabout, Yugi

couldn’t help but wonder : ‘Is there something that

Tea’s been keeping from us?’ (no duh!)

Mai desperately started punching in numbers into her

cell phone even if it illegal to do so while driving.

‘It’s good thing I know all of their cell phone numbers’

She thought to herself, screeching to a halt in front

of a crossing before she ran over a little old lady.

‘please be there Tea, please’.

Tea was towelling herself off in her bedroom when

she heard it. *ring ring riing ringringringringring

ringring * (fruits candy) Looking around, she spotted

her cell phone in her cardigan ‘good thing I didn’t

wear that this morning’ she thought as she picked it

up and answered it. “Hello?”

“Tea! oh TG! Look, I am coming to get you out of there!

he did something I know it!”

“No wait Mai!”

“Don’t argue! I’m just down the street from your house!”

“Mai! I’m not there anymore! I’m at.. somewhere else!”

“You got away? where are you? I’ll come and get you,

you can stay at my place!”

“Actually Mai I appreciate it, but I have been invited

to stay here instead”

“But where are you? You’re friends are all worried

about you!”

Tea paced around the room “Mai, can you keep a secret?

Even from the guys?”

“Well, okay. but why don’t you want them to know?”

“geez you're asking alot of questions. I can just

imagine their faces if I told them. They would be so

shocked and very pissed that I did this. Especially

Joey.”

“What would you ever do that would piss Joey off ?”

“How about staying at Seto Kaiba’s mansion?”

“WHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAATTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!”

Tea held the phone away from her ear and sat on the

bed. She now had a headache. “I think you heard me”

“You're right , Joey would be pissed off at this.

How did you wind up at Kaiba’s anyway?”

So Tea told her the entire story, starting with the

running and ending up with him asking her to stay.

She left out the pool thing though, and told her that

Kaiba had asked her to keep Mokubah company.

“OMG, so you want me to bring over some of my clothes

for you? You can’t go back and get yours”

“Thank you Mai , I would appreciate that. I don’t

want to go back either.”

“Ok. I will bring you some stuff later today.

Are you going to school tomorrow? The boys are going

to ask alot of questions”.

“Maybe Mai. As soon as I talk to Seto”.

“OOOOOHHHHHH! On a first name basis are we?” A noise

came from the door as if someone were clearing their

throat.

“Yes Mai Bye!” Tea blushed and quickly hung up. She

turned around and saw Seto in the door way.

“How long have you been there?” She asked nearly

falling off the bed.

“Since you said that you don’t want to go back ,

you talking to Valentine?”

“Yeah, She said that she would get some of her clothes

for me”

“She knows everything huh?”

“Hai, I had to. She found out from the guys that I

wasn’t at school and started to drive to uncle’s house

to get me out of there. I couldn’t let her face him.

She has little idea of what he can do”.

“Yeah, and you have too much of an idea of what he

can do” Seto came and sat on the bed next to her.

He put his arm around her and she leaned into him,

feeling an electric shock move through her body as

she touched him. It was quite surprising for Tea to

learn that she was in love with Seto Kaiba.

Gishiro watched the happy scene with hatred in his

eyes. Teana was supposed to be HIS beloved! And yet,

the priest had found her again. Gishiro resolved to

win the one he loved, wether she loved him or not.

Not after he went to so much trouble to get her.

Tea looked over Seto’s shoulder and screamed, seeing

the person in the trees.

Seto whirled around and stared at the tree. ‘That man

must be her uncle ‘ he decided. ‘but why does he look

so familiar?’ Talking to his collar comlink, he simply

stated “There is a prowler outside miss Gardner’s

bedroom window. I want you to apprehend him”

“Yes sir” came the reply.

At that moment, Gishiro simply disappeared. Blinking,

Seto turned to Tea, and started stroking her hair,

whispering comfort and wondering if he believed it

himself.

1274. I think that is the longest chappie I ever did.
