Mai stepped into the bathroom, she stripped of her clothes, and stepped into the shower, the warm water beat down on her naked form. She rubbed her body with bath gel, and lathered her locks with strawberry and cream conditioner and shampoo.

"Mmm…Smells so good…"

She stepped out of the shower, and wrapped a towel around herself. She stared into the fogged up mirror for a minute before, wrapping her robe around her body, and walking into her bedroom, where she blow-dried her golden hair. She stood in front of her closet, pondering over what to wear.

"What to wear…what to wear…hmm…It's a tough decision…"

"Okay, I took a shower, I need to get something to wear, and then I must put on some of my cologne, but not too much. Oh, and I can't forget to brush my hair…"

Joey took a taxi to Mai's house. He jumped out of the cab and rang Mai's doorbell, she answered it, and his mouth dropped open, she was wearing a white spaghetti strap top, and a lavender mini skirt…As always, she was breath taking. He felt so stupid, standing there in a white and blue T-shirt (AN: The one he wears for the Battle City Tournament…) and a pair of jeans.

"H-hi…" He managed to say.

"Well, what are you waiting for?" Mai said.

"Right, here, I'll help you in," he said, opening the door of the taxi.

"Thanks."

"Sure."

"So, where do you wanna go?" The taxi driver asked.

"Sam's," was the answer Joey gave him.

`Sam's doesn't sound too classy,' Mai thought.

She was right, they pulled up in front of a greasy little diner, where Joey paid the cabbie, and helped Mai out. Mai wrinkled her nose as they walked into the small hamburger joint.

"Whatcha want?" An aging waitress asked brusquely.

"I'll have a double cheeseburger, hold the onions, and fries, and a soda." Joey said, rattling off his order without glancing at the menu.

"I guess I'll have a cheeseburger, please hold the onions, and a soda." Mai said with uncertainty.

Once the waitress was gone, Joey turned to Mai and apologized for bringing her to such a vulgar place.

"I bet none of your boyfriends took you to some place like `Sam's'."

"Yes. I can't think of a single one."

"Sorry, but this is all I can afford."

Mai was spared from answering by the delivery of their food. Mai took a tentative bite out of the burger, and almost spit it out. It was awful! The patty was gray, and the cheese was an unnatural orange. She watched Joey gobble down his food.

He eyed her burger, and she pushed it toward him, saying, "I'm actually not that hungry."

He swallowed her cheeseburger in one bite.

`At least he has the decency to wipe his mouth.' Mai thought.

"We're going to see this new movie, I forget what it's called, but Tristan said he really liked it."

They sat down in the theater, right behind a bunch of rowdy teenage boys. While Joey was off getting the popcorn, the boys turned around and started whistling at her, and making lewd remarks. Mai ignored them until one of them tried to grab her breasts. She slapped him. Fortunately Joey came back, and the boys left them alone. Mai expected Joey to want to make out during the movie, instead, he was totally absorbed. She felt a little disappointed at being ignored. Around mid way through the movie, the boys in front of her started to throw popcorn at her. She screamed at them, and was subsequently thrown out. Joey had the decency to leave with her, but she knew he really wanted to see the end of the movie.

He called for a taxi to take them home.

He walked her up to the doorstep, and she asked, "Wanna come in?"

Joey went bright red, and blurted out, "No, sorry, I got to get home. Thanks for the date, maybe I'll call." Then he got back into the taxi, and ordered the cabbie to drive him home.

Mai let herself into her apartment, still smarting from the fact that Joey didn't even have the manners to kiss her good night. She flopped down on the couch, utterly disappointed at the fact that she had actually thought that Joey might be the one for her.

`Oh well, I screwed that one up, he must think I'm the biggest whore. He'll never call again, that's for sure.'

As it turns out, Mai was wrong.
