Yu-Gi-Oh! Fan Fiction ❯ Love Is Forever ❯ Chapter 1: First Meetings and a Duel ( Chapter 1 )
Author's note: Here's the first chapter of my series. These are the couples: Kaiba/OC, Yugi/OC, Bakura/OC, Joey/OC, Malik/OC, Yami/OC, Duke/OC, and Ryou(Yami Bakura)/OC. I realize that I have a lot of original characters, but it's fun creating new people, especially their personalities and how they would react to meeting the real YGO cast. So anyway, I hope you enjoy the chapter and please review! This was my first duel that I wrote in this chapter, so it pretty much sucked. I KNOW Kaiba would NEVER bet his Blue Eyes, but it just seemed to fit the plot. He's slightly OOC, but not too much. Anyway, ciao for now!
Chapter 1: First Meetings And A Duel
Yugi Muto was walking down the street with his spirit Yami. Yami had started attending Domino High posing as Yugi's `older brother.' His friends knew otherwise, but the other students didn't seem to mind. Even Bakura's Yami, Ryou, had decided to go to school as well. He wasn't too thrilled of course, but he accepted it. Yugi was bored. There had been nothing new for days. Even Yami was starting to get bored. It was the beginning of the summer vacation and nothing exciting had happened yet.
It was as if someone had heard him asking for something special, because what he saw next made him stop in his tracks. There was a girl walking a golden retriever on the sidewalk that he and Yami were on. She had long auburn hair and ocean blue eyes that were twinkling at the dog. Her smile lit up the entire street. Yami gave his lighter half an odd look. He saw the girl as well and his eyes widened slightly. She looked very familiar…
Before Yugi thought about what he was doing, he hurried over to the girl. "Hi!" he greeted with a big smile. "I'm Yugi Muto."
The girl looked at him for a long time and finally smiled back. "I'm Tonya Henderson," she replied. "Just moved here from America. You wouldn't happen to be Yugi Muto who is the King of Games, would you?"
"Uh…yeah, I am," he blushed. "You've heard of me?"
"You're widely known all over America. All my friends and I were so impressed that someone of your…um…age beat Pegasus."
"Most people are still surprised. So are your friends here with you or are they back in the States?"
"No, they're here. We live in that apartment building over there. I have to share a room with my annoying little cousin Chantal. She came with us from France. Her parents asked if she could come along and I couldn't just refuse." Tonya heaved a heavy sigh. "But I guess I'll survive. So who's that?" she asked noticing Yami standing behind Yugi.
"Oh this is my older brother Yami," Yugi said.
"A pleasure to meet you," Tonya said flashing him a smile.
"Likewise," Yami replied.
"Who's the dog?" Yugi wondered.
"This is Miiku. He's the family dog. My parents allowed me to take him with us on the trip. They knew how attached I was to him."
"He's pretty neat. Want me to introduce you to my other friends?"
"Sure, I'd like that. I'll go and get my friends as well. That way they can all meet."
"Ok. How about we meet at the new game shop over there?" He pointed to the big shop that his new friend Duke Devlin owned.
"All right. See ya, Yugi! Nice meeting you, Yami!" Tonya hurried off while waving to them. She suddenly felt a tugging from her Millenium Orb. //I sense something familiar in that Yami// said a deeply accented female voice.
/It was probably nothing, Taikisha/ Tonya replied as she walked down the street. /C'mon, we gotta go get the others./

"Whadda mean you met a new friend?!" Tonya's best friend, Alana, shouted angrily.
"His name is Yugi and his brother's name is Yami," Tonya replied calmly.
"Well good for them," snapped her other friend Sapphire. "It's not like they matter."
"Sapph," said another friend named Jade. "Don't judge people before you get to know them."
"Humph," was all Sapphire said.
"I really don't care if we go meet them or not," said Alana's cousin Ebony. She was in the corner playing Dungeon Dice Monsters with Tonya's little cousin Chantal. "Ha! Beat ya again, Chantal!" she crowed.
The redhead pouted and said, "No fair! You alvays vin! I `ave not von seence I got `ere!"
"Not my problem, kiddo. C'mon, hand over the cash," Ebony stated holding out her palm.
"You guys bet money?!" Tonya cried.
"I didn't zhink she vould vin. Apparently I vos vrong," Chantal said sadly as she handed Ebony a hundred dollar bill.
"Thank you so much for playing, Chantal," the ebony-haired girl said proudly. "Anyway, let's go meet Tonya's new friends. They can't be all bad."
"Says you," snapped Alana. "You're a game freak, ya know that?"
"Yep."
***
"They should be here soon," Yugi was saying to his friends.
"You must really like dis girl to be meetin' her here, Yug," Joey said with a grin.
"She's just my friend, Joey," he blushed.
"Suuure…dat's what dey all say."
"Hey, Yugi!" said a familiar voice. They looked up. Yugi instantly recognized Tonya's auburn hair and blue eyes.
"Hi, Tonya. I'd like you to meet my friends. This is Joey Wheeler, Tristan Taylor, Bakura and his brother Ryou, Seto Kaiba, his little brother Mokuba, and Duke Devlin." (I decided to leave Tea out of this part for now. She comes later in the story).
"Nice to meet you all. These are my friends Alana Wilson, her cousin Ebony Beaudro, Sapphire Tsukino, Jade Stevens, and my little cousin Chantal De Mon."
Tonya and Yugi were pleased with the reactions that happened to their friends' faces when they were introduced. Seto Kaiba was staring at Alana with cold blue eyes as her violet eyes widened at shock at hearing his name. He was famous even in America.
Ebony wasn't a boy-crazy person like most girls, but when she heard Duke Devlin's name, her heart skipped a beat. This was the boy that had invented her favorite game. He was a god to her. Jade caught Joey staring at her and she blushed crimson. Even the cold-hearted Sapphire took a quick glance at Bakura. She felt her Millenium Bracelet tugging at her just as Tonya's item had. /What's wrong, Emerald?/ Sapphire asked her Yami.
//Ryou…it's him…he's…returned// she replied. //But how can this be?//
/Must be some kinda fluke./
//Maybe./
Bakura was staring transfixed on Sapphire's form. Her sapphire blue eyes were beautiful as was her wavy black hair. Ryou was staring at her as well. His chocolate brown eyes were wide in surprise.
Seto had never felt any sort of emotion for any girl in his life. However Alana, who had violet eyes and raven black hair, had suddenly caught his attention. She was very attractive and he silently cursed himself for ever thinking that. Jade was blushing as Joey continued to stare at her. Her tawny-yellow colored eyes and golden blonde hair caught the other blonde's attention.
"So…um…what do we do now?" Tonya asked Yugi in an undertone.
"I'm not sure. Do any of your friends know how to play Duel Monsters?" he replied.
"Yeah. Alana's an expert."
"Huh? What'd you say?" Alana said shaking her head. Tonya chuckled.
"Yugi and I were just discussing how well a duelist you are, Alana," she said.
"Oh. Did you mention that I'm one of the top duelists in America?"
"No, I forgot that. Now everyone knows."
Alana smiled to herself and crossed her arms. "But I guess I can't call myself a real champ until I beat the world champion, hmm?" she added as she looked at Seto.
He narrowed his eyes at her. "You want to duel me?" he said mockingly. "You have no idea who you're dealing with."
"Oh I have a pretty good idea. You see, I've read up everything I could find about you on the Internet. I know you have the three rarest cards: The Blue Eyes White Dragon. And I also know that Yugi here beat you in a duel. I'm not some cheerleader who's too dumb for her own good and all that nonsense. I've got brains, Kaiba, and it's time that you found out what they are. So let's test your skills against mine, hmm?"
Seto stared at her for a long time. The others looked nervous. "He doesn't stand a chance," whispered Sapphire sardonically. Bakura overheard her.
"Why not?" he asked. "Kaiba is the number one duelist besides Yugi."
"Dream on, British boy," she retorted and he blushed. "Alana's got skills like no other. She's built up her deck with every good card she could find."
"Can she really beat Kaiba?" Yugi asked Tonya.
"If she tries her hardest, which she always does," she replied.
"You guys can duel in one of the arenas in my game shop," Duke said. "We'll watch from the sidelines."
"Is that all right with you, Kaiba?" Yugi asked.
"It seems fair. But I have a little wager I'd like to make first," Seto said looking at Alana.
She frowned. "What's that?"
"If I win, you give me the strongest card in your deck."
"But what if I win?"
"Then you can have one of my Blue Eyes White Dragon cards."
"What?! Don't bet your favorite card, Kaiba!" Yugi shouted. "That's your edge!"
"Don't tell me what to do, Yugi. This is my duel and I will do whatever I see fit."
"You can beat her, big brother," Mokuba said.
"I vouldn't count on it," Chantal muttered. "Alana is undefeated and vill crush your friend into zhe dirt."
"No way! My brother will stomp all over her!"
"Suit yourself, lizzle boy." Mokuba clenched his fists and looked up at Seto.
"You show her that you're the best, Seto," he said.
"Don't worry, little brother. I plan to," he replied casting Alana an evil glare.
"Very well. Then let the duel begin," Alana said.
"Duke, show us to your best dueling arena," Seto stated in a business-like tone.
"Follow me," Duke answered while leading everyone into the shop. Ebony was right behind him feeling her heart beating a hundred times a minute. "Here it is," he said.
"Thank you," said Seto. "This shouldn't take too long."
Alana and Seto made their way to their sides of the arena. "Remember our deal, Kaiba," Alana said.
"I remember it," he replied. "Now let's duel!" (Note: Any card from Alana's deck that you've never heard of basically came from my own crazed imagination. ^_^)
"For my first card, I play the Winged Phoenix in attack mode!"
Hmm…that card isn't very powerful, Seto thought. I wonder what she's planning…
"Okay, my turn! I play Saggi the Dark Clown in attack mode! And I combine him with the Negative Energy Card, adding to his attack power. Dark Clown, attack with dark light! Destroy that phoenix!"
"No!" Alana cried as her monster was wiped from the field. Her points depleted to 1700. "Hmm, you're good, Kaiba. But not that good. I call upon the Silver Winged Falcon and I lay this next card face down! Your move, Kaiba."
He gritted his teeth. "Saggi the Dark Clown, attack that bird!"
"Hold it! Did you forget about the card that I laid face down?" Seto's eyes widened in horror. "Well let me show you! It was a magic card that enables my Silver Winged Falcon to switch into its most powerful form! The Golden Winged Falcon!"
Oh no! The Golden Winged Falcon's attack power is much stronger than my Dark Clown's, Seto thought nervously. I can't defend him against her attack. There's one monster down.
"Golden Winged Falcon, use your arctic storm blast to finish off that Dark Clown!" Alana shouted. The falcon started to flap its wings and white mist began to flow from the wings. The arctic blast hit the clown and it was destroyed. Seto's life points depleted to 1600. "Ha! I'm still in the lead, Kaiba!" Alana crowed. "And now I'm adding another monster to the field. But I'll give you the pleasure of guessing what it is. Guess right, and I won't attack you with it. Guess wrong, and I'll have it destroy another one of your petty little monsters."
Seto clenched his fists in anger. "I give up," he sighed. "But I'll lay this card face down."
"Sorry, wrong answer! I guess I'll have my monster attack you now. Dark Magician Girl attack with Dark Magic!"
"Not so fast, Alana! You didn't wait to see what I played face down. Now your Dark Magician Girl will pay! I call upon the Blue Eyes White Dragon!"
"Wha? No, Dark Magician Girl, stop your attack!"
"Sorry, it's too late for you to call off your attack. Blue Eyes White Dragon, obliterate that magician! Attack with White Lightning!"
"AAARRGGGHHH!!!" Alana growled angrily as her life points dropped to 1000. "That was pretty good, Kaiba. Now that your Blue Eyes is on the field, I guess I'll call back my Golden Winged Falcon with this Recovery Card. Golden Winged Falcon, return to your card! Now I will play the Baby Rex in defense mode!"
"The Baby Rex?" Joey repeated from the sidelines. "What's dat card?"
"It's a lot like the Baby Dragon card that you have, Joey," Yugi replied. "If Alana has a Time Wizard card then she'll be able to transform her dinosaur into a powerful King Rex."
"What? Like Rex Raptor's card?"
"No, much worse. I've never actually seen this card played before, but I know it's powerful."
"If Kaiba's dragon can withstand Alana's dinosaur, then I'll be amazed," Sapphire commented. "Her Rex has destroyed many monsters and it won't hesitate to destroy the Blue Eyes White Dragon."
"I play the Time Wizard!" Alana suddenly shouted, catching everyone off guard.
"Huh? How can you have a Time Wizard?" Seto gasped.
"None of your business, Kaiba. Now watch as my harmless Baby Rex transforms into the powerful King Rex!" Before his very eyes, the small dinosaur was forming into a much larger version of itself. "King Rex, let's show this dragon what you can do!" Alana cried. "Attack with your Fireball Blast!"
The King Rex opened its mouth wide where fire was forming. It shot out a fireball right at Seto's Blue Eyes White Dragon. "Blue Eyes, defend with White Lightning!" Kaiba cried. The Rex's attack was deflected.
"You were lucky that time, Kaiba," Alana said. "Now you will face the wrath of my Black King Cobra!"
"Huh? Why would she play that card?" Yugi said softly. "Any ideas, Yami?"
"Just one," his darker half replied. "The Black King Cobra can only use its attack power when it's been summoned by the Snake Charmer. If Alana has that card, then Kaiba is in trouble."
"Hurry up, Seto," Alana mocked. "I haven't got all day."
"Shut up! I'm thinking!" Seto snapped. He lifted up another card. Yes, no way she can stand against two Blue Eyes! "All right Alana, I hope you're ready for this! My next card is in fact the second Blue Eyes White Dragon!"
"You fool! Why place both your dragons on the field? My Black King Cobra will destroy them!"
"Not unless I destroy it first! Blue Eyes, attack that snake with White Lightning!"
"No, my cobra!" Alana shrieked. The Black King Cobra disappeared from sight, leaving Alana with 600 life points. "Ooh, you're gonna pay for that, Kaiba boy," she hissed venomously. She looked at her next card. "Haha! Yes, I don't believe it!"
"Huh?" Seto said in confusion.
"I've just drawn one of the most powerful cards in my deck, Kaiba," Alana said victoriously. "You see this card? It allows me to take back one of my monsters on the field. King Rex, return to your card! Then it allows me to call upon three, ya hear that THREE, monsters from my deck! Let's see what lady luck has for me today!" She then drew three new cards and her face lit up. "Well, it's been a pleasure dueling you, Seto Kaiba, but I'm afraid this game is gonna end soon," she stated smugly.
"Why is that? Just play your cards!"
"Very well. First, I call upon the Blood Thirsty Raptor!" All of a sudden, a raptor with huge talons, sharp fangs, and camouflage colored scales appeared on the field. It let out a blood-curdling screech. Its orange-yellow eyes narrowed dangerously when it saw the two Blue Eyes White Dragons on the field. "But my turn doesn't end there, Kaiba," the raven-haired beauty added with an evil smile. "Next I summon the Giant Winged Dactyl!"
Another monster appeared on the field. The pterodactyl was huge with sharp claws on its hands and feet. Its beak was enormous as was the crest on the back of its head. Its wing span was half the size of both the Blue Eyes White Dragons on the field. "And finally, I summon the Sailed-Back Saurus!" Alana cried. The last monster to appear was a giant Spinosaurus dinosaur with a huge tricolored sail on its back. Its teeth were like sabers and its size was gigantic.
"Uh-oh, this is bad," Yugi said seriously.
"How so, Yugi?" Joey asked.
"If she combines those three monsters with a Polymerization, then Kaiba's done for."
"Yep, told ya she'd win," Sapphire said. "No one can beat this monster, not even Kaiba's Blue Eyes White Dragons." Everyone gasped.
"So that means…?" Tristan trailed off.
"That my brother is gonna lose," Mokuba finished sadly.
"Sorry, but I vorned you," Chantal said.
"Poor Kaiba," Yugi said looking downcast. "He's gonna lose one of his Blue Eyes White Dragons."
The others nodded sadly. Tonya, Sapphire, Ebony, Jade, and Chantal were happy for Alana, but they felt slightly guilty for cheering her on. She would be taking the world champion's favorite card in a few moments.
"Now I'll use this Polymerization Card, Kaiba," Alana announced. "I combine my three monsters on the field to form the Giant Gallimimus! It has the physical properties of my Giant Winged Dactyl, the reflects and talons of my Blood Thirsty Raptor, and the size and strength of my Sailed-Back Saurus! Say goodbye to your precious Blue Eyes! Giant Gallimimus, attack with all your might! Destroy those dragons!"
The dinosaur jumped into the air and slashed at the dragons with its talons and whip-like tail. Its screech filled the room as the two dragons were destroyed. Seto's life points dropped to zero. "Looks like I win," Alana said jumping off the platform. Seto followed suit. "Now hand over your card like you promised."
He hesitated but pulled out the card. Alana eagerly took it from him. "Thanks for a delightful duel, Kaiba," she said placing the Blue Eyes card in her pocket. "We should do it again sometime."
"Great duel, cous," Ebony said happily. "I've never seen you play so ruthless before."
"It's a new found personality trait I found within myself," she answered. "Kaiba, after all this dueling, it's made me quite hungry. How `bout you?"
Seto nodded slightly. "Then I propose that we go out to dinner. I'll buy. What do you say?" she said with a wink. Seto stared at her oddly.
"You would voluntarily take me out to dinner?" he repeated. "What kind of trick are you playing?"
"No trick. If you don't want dinner, than fine."
"No, I'd like that. You buying me dinner does sound tempting. All right, we'll go to the fancy new restaurant across town. And you'll be buying."
"Okay. But how are we getting there, hmm?"
"My limo will pick us up." Sure enough, when they all made it outside, there was a limo waiting for them.
"Well…um…let's go. We'll see you guys later," Alana stuttered as she and Seto climbed into the car. "This is one fancy limo, Kaiba," she commented with a whistle.
"Actually, this is the oldest one that I own. It's not the best for going places," he retorted with a grin.
"Show off," she muttered.
When they made it to the restaurant, Seto ordered a table for two in a private booth. "You certainly know how to play Duel Monsters, Alana," he said while they ate their dinner. "I really underestimated you."
"I forgive you," she replied taking a sip of soup. "After all, I guess I'm not all that intimidating, am I?"
"No, you are. I never thought a sweet person like you could be a master duelist."
"You think I'm sweet? Jeez, even my own parents don't think I'm sweet."
"Why not?"
"They hate me. They don't think I'm as smart as my older brother Kento, which is real stupid if you ask me."
"Yeah, it is. But anyway, tell me something about yourself. Like…how old are you? How long have you been playing Duel Monsters?"
"I'm seventeen-years-old," she replied, "and I've been playing Duel Monsters ever since I first…um…saw you playing it on TV. I was hooked on the game ever since then."
"Wait a minute, let me get this straight. You started playing because you saw me playing it?"
"Well hey, I was fifteen and I…uh…nevermind."
"What?"
"I…had a small crush on you. But that was before I became a master duelist," she added quickly. Seto caught her blushing crimson.
"So how big of a crush was this exactly?"
"Not that big," she mumbled.
"Uh-huh, sure. Just tell me."
"I had your picture on my website," she whispered guiltily.
"Really?" he said blushing slightly himself. "Well, I'm touched."
"You're not mad?"
"No, of course not. Why would I be?"
"Oh, I dunno. You seemed really pissed when I beat you today and took your Blue Eyes White Dragon."
"True, I am upset about that, but I'm not upset that you once had a crush on me."
"Who ever said I was over my crush?" Alana suddenly purred. Seto's blue eyes widened in shock. Her violet eyes were looking right into his. They were beautiful and mesmerizing.
"Y-you still like me?" he choked.
"Surprised, Seto Kaiba?"
"Um…a little bit. Anyway, um…I think it'd be best if we left now. Your friends are probably wondering where you are."
"Yeah," she replied standing up. They left the restaurant and sat back in the limousine, which drove them back to Alana's apartment. "Well…uh…I had a great time, Seto," she said shyly getting out of the car.
"I'll walk you to the front door," he said getting out as well.
"I can go by myself," she insisted.
"I know, but I want to say goodbye without having someone else watching."
"Oh." They slowly walked up the walkway. "I'll see you tomorrow then, right?" she guessed.
"I suppose. There's one last thing I want you to know before we say goodnight," he replied.
"What's that?"
Seto suddenly tilted his head down and kissed her. Alana was stunned and fought the urge to push him away. The boy she had loved for so long was finally kissing her. He tasted like…god, she couldn't even find a word to describe him. She ran her delicate fingers through his brown hair. His hands drifted over the small of her back as he drew her closer to his body. He had his trench coat around both of them as he held her to him. Alana deepened the kiss and opened her mouth to him. Seto slipped his tongue inside and let it roam around. Their lips parted for a moment so they could breathe.
"I love you, Alana Wilson," he whispered in her ear. His voice made her tingle. She looked up into his eyes and saw the love that they portrayed. He meant what he said.
"I love you too, Seto Kaiba," she replied drawing her mouth to his again. They kissed one last time and finally separated for good. "I'll never forget this night," she told him as he pulled away to leave.
"Neither will I," he said. "I promise you that."
"Here, take this," she said handing him something.
"What's this?"
"Your Blue Eyes White Dragon card. I'm giving it back. I have no use for it."
Seto smiled at her and took her in his arms. "Thank you," he muttered as he kissed her forehead. "I'll see you tomorrow."
"Okay. Goodnight, Seto."
"Goodnight, Alana." He waved as he got into his limo. It drove away and Alana was left at the front step feeling her lips. She could still taste him on her. She opened the door and gasped when she saw all her friends standing around with big grins on their faces.
"That was quite a show you put on there, Alana," Ebony said teasingly.
"It was nothing," she blushed. "Seto was merely trying to give me mouth to mouth resuscitation."
"By using his tongue?" Sapphire said raising an eyebrow. "If any guy did that to me, I'd sock him."
"What did it feel like?" Tonya asked excitedly. "How was kissing your crush?"
"It was interesting," Alana replied. "I can tell ya one thing. I didn't hate it." The other girls laughed heartily.
