Yugi awoke pressed against something warm and solid. He blinked the morning haze out of his wide amethyst eyes and looked up, seeing the boy that had saved him the other day fast asleep next to him, arms wrapped around the smaller figure protectively. The small boy blushed slightly, scooting out of the embrace and falling ungracefully to the floor.
Standing up and shaking his head, he walked over to the window, opening it to stand on the balcony it was attached to. He sighed as the cool morning breeze whipped against his face, waking him up more. His cat ears picked up the sound of someone else walking outside and he turned to see Yami standing in the doorway, smiling lazily. He grinned as a greeting and nodded before turning again to face the village. He let out a breath of air.
Yami stepped over, leaning over the balcony's railing just as the small one did, staring out into the land beyond the palace walls, "what troubles you, Chibi ichi*?" he asked, deep voice breaking the calm silence.
Yugi hung his head. He was hoping the taller boy wouldn't catch onto his feelings of sorrow. Sighing once more he closed his eyes, "shirimasen*" He said simply.
"Wakarimashita.*" Yami looked down, not really knowing what to say. The smaller boy seemed so lost and lonely almost. "Are you homesick?" Yugi gave a small nod as an answer, not really feeling up to talking.
In truth, the little one greatly missed his two and only friends, Ryou and Malik Ishtar. Certainly they would be worried when he did not come to work that day...they would know something had happened. "I miss my friends," he finally said.
Yami nodded, repeating `wakarimashita' over and over whilst rubbing Yugi's hair affectionately. "Listen...don't be so sad. If you want, I will bring you home. Just stay here for today so you can rest up."
Yugi nodded, smiling again and following as Yami went inside. "Um...Yami?"
"Yeah?"
Yugi blushed, looking down as the taller removed his shirt and walked over the closet to get a fresh one. "W-what am I to wear?"
Yami chuckled before disappearing into the closet, coming out a minute later holding a black silk robe, "here Chibi ichi, put this on. It should fit."
"Arigato," Yugi said, walking into the attached bathroom to change.

King Pegasus stared at his stepson's guest. It was remarkable how the two looked so similar...which could only mean than Anzu and Otogi hadn't wiped out every Anatian like they had told him. The silver haired man stood, seeing his son stop talking for a moment and look up wide-eyed at him. The king raised a hand and walked down the marble stairs to the two tri-haired boys.
"Father?" Yami questioned.
Pegasus smiled with false sincerity. He turned to Yugi, "well then any friend of my son's is welcome here in my palace. Stay as long as you like, we're happy to have you."
Yugi's amethyst orbs were disbelieving. He still didn't trust vampires all too much. But the king seemed relatively nice, and Yami was extraordinary. What choice did he really have? It would be rude to refuse their invitation to stay after all. "A-arigato, majesty."
"Terrific then! Tonight we shall feast in honor of our guest. There shall be a festival in your honor."
//Festival...//
**FLASHBACK**
"Ne, Yami-chan..?"
"Hai Yugi-kun?"
The smaller boy looked up with big violet eyes, "are you going to be at thePlazatonight for the festival of Ra?"
Yami nodded, swinging his and Yugi's adjoined hands back and forth as they walked down the path, "who isn't? It's one of the biggest festivals of the year since he is Anat's father and all."
"Yeah....I'm happy. You always make everything so much more fun!" the boy laughed and hugged the taller tightly.
**END FLASHBACK**
Yugi shook his head, blinking the strange memory away and turning his gaze to Yami. The boy was staring down at him worriedly. More thoughts tumbled into Yugi's mind. It was strange...these flashbacks, as they seemed, of him and Yami as children. But he and the other boy just met! How could they have been friends before...unless maybe a past life? No....Such things were ridiculous...his mind was just playing a trick on him, that had to be it.
Still, the memories continued to flood through him, taking over his mind and making him lose control and slump motionless to the floor.
**DREAM/FLASHBACK**
"Yami-chan! Yami-chan where are you?!" a small voice called out, giggling.
Yugi opened his eyes, staring at his surroundings. He seemed to be in some kind of Oasis.
"Yugi-kun! I'm over here!" a deeper voice replied to the call.
Yugi spun around at the slightly familiar deep voice. It was Yami's, he'd know it anywhere. But...it sounded so young...so childish. It didn't hold that demanding yet charming tone.
A streak of red and black blurred his vision as a small boy went running by him. Amethyst eyes blinked as he noticed the white cats tail and cat ears the boy had. //Hey...that's...me? Which means that other boy is really Yami. But I don't see him//
Yugi heard giggling and turned to see the small copy of himself as well as a miniature Yami hugging each other in greeting behind the waterfall.
//This is such a strange dream. And yet...is it a dream or a memory? I don't know who I am or where I come from...for all I know, it could be my past. But that seems crazy, right..?//
"Yami-chan I missed you while I was away! I knew I'd find you here though!" the little Yugi said happily, nestling his head in the crux of the other's neck and smiling.
There was a soft chuckled in reply as the little Yami stroked the boy's hair, "you were only gone for two days."
"I know but..." the small boy paused and giggled before hugging Yami tighter, "You know I can't live without you there with me, Yami-chan!"
Red eyes widened slightly at the statement but the small Yami nodded, continuing to pet the boy's wild mane, "I know...I need you with me too, Yugi-kun."
Yugi's eyes were huge as he watched the young version of himself and Yami embrace and the tiny Yami kiss the small him lightly on the cheek. The scene melted away and he was left in the state of utter confusion.
**END OF FLASHBACK/DREAM**
Yugi's eyes snapped open at the sound of someone calling his name.
"Yugi! You're okay! Thank Ra." Came the deep sound of Yami's voice.
"I need you with me too, Yugi-kun..."
The small boy shook his head, blinking the haze out of his mind, "w-what happened?" he questioned.
"You fainted," Yami replied bluntly, lying down next to Yugi on the overlarge bed.
The amethyst eyed teen curled up to Yami, trying to push the dream out of his mind. "It was so strange..." he whispered.
Yami breathed in the vanilla scent of Yugi's hair, "what was?"
"This dream I had while I was unconscious. I was there but I was watching a younger version of myself, almost like a movie flashback. You were there too and..." he stopped, looking down and shaking his head, "you were there." He decided to cut off saying that Yami had told him he needed him and that he had kissed him on the cheek.
"That's ridiculous. It's just a dream, okay? Don't beat yourself up about it."
"But you didn't have the dream...it was so odd...and so familiar. It was like that really happened."
The young prince chuckled, sitting up for a moment to bring the sheets over the two of them, "I think you just need to get some more rest."
"But..."
"Shh..." Yami kissed the top of his hair lightly before petting it, "sleep now. In a couple of hours we will go to the festival and have some fun."
Yugi nodded and reluctantly closed his eyes to sleep.

"Nobles, guests, Vampire ladies, gentlemen, and children. We have feasted and now are holding a festival in honor of a surprised guest from a city not too far from here. Welcome him as your brother, and let us honor him tonight!"
Pegasus's voice rang around the large courtyard. After his small speech, music started up and people began dancing and enjoying themselves.
Over in a corner, Yugi sat by himself, staring at Yami who was dancing with some woman named Isis. He silently wished it could be him pressed against the taller boy's body, moving quickly against him with the beat of the fast music. Blushing and removing the thoughts from his mind, he continued to watch.
Once the song ended, a panting Yami walked over and sat down next to the petite boy, frowning slightly, "what's wrong? Why aren't you dancing?" he asked.
Yugi shook his head, "I don't have a partner," he explained.
Yami rolled his eyes, standing up again and extending his hand, "that all? Why don't you be my partner?"
"I-I...."
Yami, brought his face closer to Yugi's blinking his eyes slowly and sweeping them up and down the boy's body unnoticeably, "...Aibou?" he whispered in the other's ear.
Yugi looked up, nodding shakily and taking the offered hand; allowing Yami to pull him to the center of the crowd as a slower song started. He wrapped his arms around the smaller's waist while Yugi put his arms securely around Yami's neck, moving himself up against the taller so that he was practically on top of him. Yami sighed as he rubbed his thumb against Yugi's hips and pressed his body against the other's, "you dance well," he stated huskily.
"A-arigato...you do t-too," Yugi stuttered as a response.
Yami smiled, resting his head on top of Yugi's as they continued to sway back and forth in the embrace. He didn't understand this weird pull he was feeling in his heart. He had tried ignoring it but it was far too strong. He didn't know what to do about it.
The song ended and immediately another fast song started up. Cheers were heard as some scantly clad women began dancing seductively to the beat of the music.
Yami rolled his eyes, taking Yugi's hand in his own and interlacing their fingers before moving them into the gardens where they could talk alone together.
~~~`
Seto Kaiba, Yami's affianced, growled as he saw the two boys leave together for the gardens. He was slightly hurt...he loved Yami and was pretty sure that the other loved him, which was why his father had picked for him to marry. //What if he chooses that boy over me? He doesn't look at me the way he looks at that Yugi.//
Sighing, he followed the two.
~~~`
"Yami...I have something to tell you...well a few things actually."
The taller raised an eyebrow, "really? Well go ahead, I'm listening."
Yugi took a deep breath, not believing what he was about to do, "well first of all I wanted to thank you for saving me. Anyone else would have just left me there."
"We've already been through this-"
Yugi took the taller's hands in his own, "I know, I know. I just wanted to thank you again though. I feel there aren't enough things I can do to repay you." He paused, "but...I did sort of think of a way...Yami I feel something towards you. I've never felt this way around anyone in my life. I-I think I'm in love with you..."
Yami shook his head, eyes wide. This boy couldn't love him. He was too innocent and not like him. He was the vampire prince and would soon become king...he couldn't waste time with silly things like love. That pull in his heart would have to take a backseat, ruling the kingdom was most important; or so his stepfather taught him. "Yugi, don't love me..."
"No I can't help it. It feels like we're meant to be! I was so empty before and then you came along and I felt whole again! I felt like there was a reason for me to be living. I know you must feel something too!"
"Yugi don't. You should forget about love..."
Amethyst eyes watered, shutting tightly as their owner cried out, "no!" before pressing their lips to the other's and wrapping his arms tightly around the other's neck; making them tumble to the ground one on top of the other. Yugi pulled away, watching Yami pant and gaze blissfully at the face in front of him.
"S-see you feel it too...I know you do...I can feel it from you."
Yami shook his head, glaring, "no...I don't. We're just friends. I don't feel anything towards you."
"Y-Yami?"
The two turned to see Seto standing by them, looking hurt. Yami pushed Yugi off of him, practically throwing him into the dirt as he got up and shook the grass off his clothes. "Sorry Seto."
"Who-who is that?" Yugi asked, hiding his hurt that the other had just tossed him aside like that in front of the other boy.
Yami walked over to the tall brunette, placing his hands on the other's chest, "This is my fiancé, Seto Kaiba." He explained. The blue eyed boy smirked, giving the shorter a dirty look.
Crystalline liquid, not noticed by the other occupants in the garden, slid down alabaster smooth cheeks, "wakarimashita..." he stood up, averting his gaze to the floor. //My welcome has been worn out here I guess.//
"I want to go home...away from this place, Yami," the soft voice whispered, its owner fighting back a sob.
