Yu-Gi-Oh! Fan Fiction ❯ Nightmare ❯ Freedom ( Chapter 10 )
(*smiles* I have had chocolate. I have had caffeine. I have heavy metal music playing. I have taken a quiz and found myself to Priest Seto/Seth. AND!! It's is the 4th of July, and the BEST possible day to write this!! WOOHOO!!
Of course, I probably won't finish it until Sunday.... *pouts*)
-~^~-
It's the week now. I've pretty much refused to come out of my room for the past two days. This is all fine with him. He says I can go hungry, or, that's what Seto tells me. Mokuba still manages to grab food for me. We all have a good time, and sometimes Mokuba invites the twins he's made friends with over to play, and I can translate for them. Mokuba thinks it's great. I promised to teach him English when we get back home. Seto, somehow, found out about that and I promised to teach him too.
"Oniisan! Come down! Onegai?" Mokuba gives me his puppy dog eyes.
I sigh. "I don't feel like swimming, Mokuba-chan..."
"So, just sit on the edge with me." Seto rolls his eyes at me. "You can't stay in here forever, Noa."
I groan and get out of the bed. "Fine, fine... I'll come..." I grab something to change into and walk into the bathroom to change.
When I come back out again, Mokuba grabs my wrist. "Let's go!" He says happily, then half drags me behind him.
"Mokuba-chan! Matte!!" I cry, laughing. Seto chuckles next to me.
"You're too slow, Oniisan!" Mokuba giggles. He drags me into the pool, and lets go as soon as he sees his friends.
I rub my wrist, wincing. "Itai..."
Seto puts an arm around my shoulders. "You okay?"
I pull down the bandage to glance at the sore cuts on my wrist. "I'll be fine." I let the bandage fall back into place. "Let's find seats."
"Okay..." Seto leads me over to a couple of seats next to Mokuba's friends parents. "Noa, these are Jan and Sean's parents." He says.
I nod. "Hello. I'm Noa." I introduce myself.
"You speak English?" The man asks me.
"Yes. A friend back home taught me." I smile.
"Wonderful." The woman smiles at me and Seto and I settle down.
"Noa?" I look up at the door as a female voice calls my name.
"Bethany! Hey!" I grin as she walks over.
"Hey. I haven't seen you around lately. I was thinking I might be too late."
"For what?" I frown.
"You said you want to go to the Statue of Liberty, right?" She asks. I nod. "My parents are taking me today. I asked, and they said I could bring you, if you want to go."
"Wow..." I turn to Seto. "Bethany's parents say they can take me to the Statue of Liberty today." I explain.
"Cool. What if he finds out?"
I roll my eyes. "I haven't even seen him since Sunday. Who's to say I'm not still up in my room, pouting?"
Seto sighs. "Alright. I'll tell Mokuba-chan when he gets out. We'll cover for you."
"Arigatou." I stand. "Hey, I'm ready to go." I tell Bethany.
"Great! Come on!" She hurries out of the swimming pool room. "They want to meet at the front."
"Fine with me." I nod.
"Where have you been lately? I saw Seto once or twice...." Bethany inquires, slowing down.
"Pouting." I shrug. "I was grounded to my room for being on the roof."
"And your grounding's over?"
"Not really." I shrug. "But my father's not here, so it doesn't matter. Seto says he'll cover for me."
"It's cool, that you have a brother." Bethany sighs.
"Oh... Seto and his littler brother, Mokuba, are adopted. I'm an only child." I shrug.
"It's still cool. My parents won't get me siblings." Bethany sighs wistfully.
"Cha..." I glance up at the ceiling. "Hey, Bethany, do you wanna be penpals?"
Bethany looks at me, surprised, then smiles slightly. "Sure. It'll be cool. I can tell the kids in school that I know a kid from Japan!"
I laugh. "My friends back home will think it's awesome. One of them will always have questions though. His life goal is to come to America. He made me promise to smuggle him with me some time."
Bethany giggles. "He sounds great. Is he the one who taught you English?"
"Yeah. He took an English course in school a couple years ago. He asked if I wanted to learn one day when I got over to the hide-out, the place where we hang out. It was cool. Drove the others nuts, though." I snicker, remembering.
"That's cool. You guys have a hide-out?"
"It's an old abandoned building that no one uses anymore. One of my friends, I never did figure out which one, got a permit for it. The outside looks like trash, but the inside is all cozy. It's been suggested we all have a sleep over once or twice, by one of the two girls, but it's always been shrugged off."
"I'd love to see this place." Bethany sighs. She smiles and waves as we see to adults walking towards us. "My mom and dad." She explains, seeing the questioning look on my face. The two walk over, smiling. "Mom, dad, this is my friend, Noa. He's from Japan, but he can speak English!" She smiles. "Noa, this is my mom, Liz, and my dad, Major."
"Nice to meet you both." I nod.
"And you." Liz smiles. Major gives me a curt nod.
Bethany giggles at her father. "Dad, be nice."
Major smiles. "Alright." He winks at me.
I smirk. "Watch out, Bethany, he might try something."
Bethany giggles again as Major hold out a hand to me. "Pleased, Noa."
I shake his hand. "Likewise."
"Dad doesn't put up with many of my friends." Bethany explains as we head out. "I think you're the first one I've ever seen him shake hands with."
"Let's just say I'm a likeable person." I smile.
"So, Noa, what brings you to New York City?" Major asks as we get into a car that is waiting outside the front.
"My father is here on business. He brought me and my brothers as a vacation." I explain. ~And to trick my friends.~ I add angrily, keeping my face blank.
"Who is your father? Bethany never told us." Liz asks.
"Gozaburo Kaiba." I shrug.
"Impressive." Major nods. "I deal with him sometimes. Real pain in the ass."
"I prefer yaro." I grumble.
"Yaro?" Major frowns.
I grimace. "Let's just say my father and I don't get along very well."
"Hum. I can see why." Major nods. "You two don't seem like the types to get along. Do your brothers get along with him?"
I blink. "Well, they're adopted. The older one, who's my age, he despises my father. Gozaburo acts different around the younger one, though. It's kinda funny." I smirk.
"How is it funny?" Bethany asks, looking confused.
"He tries not to lose his temper. It's entertaining to watch him almost blow his top."
"Is that why you got grounded, for almost watching him blow his top?" Bethany asks. "From the pool, I mean."
"No. I got grounded from the pool for being a general pain in his behind." I scrunch up my face in disgust.
Bethany giggles and Liz smiles. Major frowns, but doesn't say anything.
-~*~-
"This is great!" I laugh, leaning over the rail of the ferry.
"Having fun?" Major asks, coming over to me.
I nod. "Yeah. I've never had the chance to be on a boat before. Gozaburo gets sea sick."
Major leans on the railing next to me. "What happened to your wrists, Noa?" He inquires, nodding at my bandages.
I fold my arms inward, hiding my wrists. "Nothing."
"And your finger? It looks like it's broken."
"I broke it the other day, playing basketball with my brother." I mumble.
"One last question." I glance up at him. "Does Gozaburo hurt you?"
"No." I reply darkly, looking back at the water. "What ever would make you ask such a question?"
"One of Bethany's friends back home was abused by her parents. Something about you reminded me of her." Major shrugs. "Bethany tells me you two are going to be penpals."
"Yeah." I nod.
Major sighs. "Then you'll have my address." He turns and leaves me to ponder his words.
~I suppose I should have told him, but, then I may never see my friends again. I need to go back to Japan. I need to tell them everything. They'll help me figure things out.~ I groan and bury my face in my arms. ~Unless Jako decides that figuring things out isn't going to help and just goes straight to the courts. So, okay, don't tell them about the rape. Seto won't tell them, I know he won't. I can tell them about him attempting to starve me again. Wait, have I ever even told them about that yet?~
"Noa?" Bethany pokes me and I glance up at her. "You-you're crying..." She whispers.
"I miss my friends back home." I sigh. "Gozaburo didn't even give me the chance to say good-bye to them. I know they'll be worried..." I wipe my eyes. "I have a few things I need to talk to them about, that's all..."
"Oh..." Bethany sighs and looks out at the Statue of Liberty. "I'm sorry, if whatever my father said upset you. He's real nosy."
"It's okay. I like your father. He's nicer than mine."
Bethany bites her lip and looks at me sadly. I turn away, looking back at the statue. ~Freedom...~
-~*~-
"It was great." I smile. "I'll see you tomorrow then, right Bethany?"
"Yeah! We'll meet on the roof."
"Agreed!" I wink at Major, who does the same, then hurry off to my room.
Gozaburo is waiting outside. "Where were you? Seto and Mokuba said you were in your room, but I checked."
"I was with a friend of mine." I grumble, pulling out my key.
"That little girl you met on the roof the other day?" Gozaburo asks, getting in my way.
"Would you please move?"
"Answer me, Noa."
"Yes. Her name's Bethany. Will you move now?"
"No. What were you doing?"
"Must you pry into my life?!" I cry.
"I'm waiting."
"So, wait. See if I care." I turn to Mokuba's door.
Gozaburo stops me by turning me around, to face him. "Don't you dare turn your back on me." He hisses.
"Watch me do it again." I growl, starting to turn again.
He grabs me by my shoulders and meets my eyes. "I've had about all I can take of you and your attitude." He warns sharply.
"That make two of us." I reply. "Let. Me. Go. Or. I'll. Scream." I warn, punctuating each word.
Gozaburo's hand covers my mouth and he smirks. "Go ahead." Then he spins me around and picks me up, one hand still over my mouth. I squirm, dropping my key in front of Mokuba's door. He opens his door, with a little trouble, then steps in and let the door close behind him. He grabs the gag he used on Sunday and uses it to shut me up once again. He lets me go and bolts the door. "Take that off, and you'll live to regret it." He warns as I reach up to untie the gag.
I hiss at him, but let my hands fall back to my sides. ~Yaro! Fucking yaro!~ I shout at him mentally.
Gozaburo grabs my chin and makes me look at him. "Do you need another lesson, Noa?" He asks. Since I'm gagged, I say nothing, just watch him coldly. "I'm glad we agree. Get undressed." He says, letting go of my chin. I growl at him. "Or I could undress you."
I narrow my eyes at him, but pull off my shirt. I know his way will cause pain. He rolls his eyes at me and walks over to his desk as I pull off my shorts. "Come here." He orders as I finish undressing. I walk over to him, still glaring. He grabs my arms and looks at the bandages on my wrists. "Nice. Take them off." He lets go of my wrists. I hiss at him. "Don't push me, Noa." He warns.
I unwrap the bandages angrily. ~Yaro, yaro, yaro, yaro, yaro....~ I keep growling in my mind. I finish unwrapping the bandages and go put them with my clothes, then walk back to him.
Gozaburo grabs my arms and spins me around, pressing my front against the same bedpost as before. He ties my arms up, tighter than before, and I yelp into the gag. I hear him snicker behind me. "Did that hurt?" He whispers into my ear. I refuse to even nod. "Alright then, be that way." He mumbles. I feel movements behind me.
Suddenly, without any warning, I feel that same pain from Sunday, and I scream. ~IIE!! IIE!!~ I cry out. ~Hanash te! Hanash te!~
And then, it all goes black.
