Yu-Gi-Oh! Fan Fiction ❯ Not A Hikari ❯ Chapter 1
[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]
Plotbunny fic inspired by a bunch of “Yami takes over the world and kills humanity” type fics. Noticed that they're always YY.
Thought, what would happen if Yuugi ditched Yami? Would he find a new hikari?
Quote: Mahaado is not a hikari

Chapter 1
Betrayed him.
His sweet precious other half of his soul had fucking betrayed him.
He had watched, awake but unable to do anything, in the back of their mind as Yuugi had raced into Kaiba's - a snarl - arms, spilling out the secret that had leaked through their link. One moment caught unawares and all his plots crumbled into dust.
Yuugi had seen.
He hadn't liked it.
And he had told.
Yami screamed his rage in his soul room, barred shut behind the door that led into their shared soul corridor. When had his aibou, his light gotten so strong? If one part of him was praising it, the other part of him was cursing it, for that was the reason he could not get out.
The shadows were angry.
The shadows…
A footstep sounded behind him. He paused, met lowered green eyes beneath a fringe of purple hair as the owner knelt before him.
“Black Magician…”
The mage spoke no words, but as he stood, Yami inclining his head just a fraction and allowing the monster to stand, he brought his emerald staff forwards and a portal shimmered, dark-edged lightning…
A portal to the Shadow Realm…
Yes, there was a way to escape, and his most loyal servant had found it for him. Of course he had. Black Magician had never failed him.
He could trust his favorite monster…
The portal widened until it was open before them both, and then they stepped through into the shadowy mists of home.
The power coiled around him, waiting, watching, shadows caressing him with invisible hands. Their precious child was home!
He let himself breathe and the sensations dance through his body like wildfire. He had missed this feeling, locked away for three thousand years…
The Puzzle had been empty, no shadows. And he had not touched the Shadows for Games in so long…. Staying with his precious light had weakened him, blinded him to his true power, his true calling…
< Master? >
He felt the words in his heart and did not hear them. He turned and regarded his Black Magician. Now that he had… time, the monster was quite beautiful, breathtakingly so, with long flowing hair and kohl-rimmed eyes.
Familiar, too…
Some memory stirred in the back of his mind, but he paid no heed as he stepped forwards and closed the gap between them. Leaving Yuugi's body behind had hurt him, though he was loath to admit it. The shadows were rushing forwards to fill the gap in his soul that had been torn upon their forced separation.
But things were better this way.
His lips met the spellcaster's, and memory flared gold in his mind's eye as his arms slid around armored shoulders.
Yes…
This was the way things should be.
The shadows clustered around them both, drenching them in the dark glory of rebirth. There, the first-born child, their shadow sorcerer, and their precious Pharaoh, their favorite child, together as one, in each other's arms. They glittered with crimson and amethyst. The shadows purred, pleased with the sight.
His breathing slowed, evened, as the movement died down, glanced at his body, seeing translucent black linen, golden adornments and ruby glitter. Skin dusky tan with the memory of the desert sun, upon his forehead the glittering golden crown marked with the Eye of Ra…
The other was changed too, he noticed, lavender and green giving way to white-blonde hair and sapphire, armor replaced with flowing white robes accented in gold and blue, shoulder guards and belt dangling pendants sharp as the points of the Sennen Ring.
Fascinating…
Back on Earth, Yuugi suddenly felt very, very cold. A quick glance at the bedside table showed the puzzle glittering in the moonlight. As long as he did not wear it, his other self - no, he wouldn't think that, Yami was really evil, worse so than Bakura and I can't believe I trusted him - could not take control.
He snuggled deeper into Seto's embrace, trying to ignore the muted golden glow.
He was just being paranoid…
The others felt it. How could they not? The Realm itself was moving.
Shadi watched, for no words were necessary. He saw the future moving, as did Isis, so much like Aishizu….
They could fight, but what good would it do?
Their oaths had been sworn, and even after the millennia, harsh sun bleaching away forgotten names and dusty tombs, their oaths still bound.
They would serve the Pharaoh until eternity.
Bakura felt it, and for the first time in millennia, he worried. The Ring jangled impatiently, and he cursed.
Was it angry with him? Whatever reason for?
No… he let his lighter half sleep in continued oblivion and took control of their body. He had to see what the Pharaoh's brat was up to, and fast.
Seto's eyes snapped open. For though he was a Priest no longer, he had sworn once, and sworn loyal.
He had no Sennen Rod, but even so, he still held Yuugi as they watched the Puzzle glint and glitter and shine with a light that was not reflection.
Neither of them knew what was wrong, but really, neither of them realized just how awkward things had become.
“You are mine.” Yami whispered, running his fingers through Mahaado's hair. “You are my soul mate... You are the one who has always protected me. I was fooled… I thought that weak creature was my other half, but I was wrong…”
Mahaado did not reply, as Yami continued to pet him.
“I don't need him any longer. I don't need the Puzzle either… the power of this Realm… isn't it magnificent, my love? We won't need him when the world falls to shadow and the monsters are free again…”
And Mahaado smiled, a long, slow smile, that made his eyes burn emerald…

I don't like the Yami/Yuugi pairing, ok?
