Yu-Gi-Oh! Fan Fiction ❯ Not Who They Seem To Be ❯ Chapter 7 ( Chapter 7 )
A/N - I know, fast updates. But I've been writing a lot. Um...they're kind of weird in this chapter, a lot of ooc. It's mostly Bakura. Uh...some of you are wondering why, and my response is that it just has to be that way in certain parts. It would be kinda stupid if it wasn't. Please r/r!
Not Who They Seem To Be, Chapter 7
Bakura took a step back in shock.
"Dieing? What happened?" Bakura didn't like her, but still...so young...
"I don't really know...No one does. But I don't really feel like talking about it...The only thing I heard was that she was sick and couldn't be cured...It's killing her fast."
"I see..." Bakura had a few comments more, but chose not to tell Yugi what they were. His comments would not help the situation.
"Oh, I couldn't get a hold of Malik and his Yami...I'm not sure why." Yugi said suddenly. Bakura smirked despite the terrible situation they were in. He had a pretty good idea why Yugi couldn't get a hold of them.
"It's alright. I'll call them later, we'd better get going." Bakura said. Yugi nodded and followed Bakura out of the house and they walked to the hospital, it wasn't far.
"Yugi!" Joey cried, he ran up and hugged Yugi like he had earlier on. Yugi hugged him back gratefully. Bakura just stood and watched, trying to hide in a corner until he could pass them without being noticed.
"So what happened to him, Yugi?" Tristan asked. Joey let go of Yugi and they sat down on the chairs with Tristan and Mai. Seeing his chance, Bakura walked past them, hoping he wasn't noticed.
Suddenly, his collar was grabbed and he was yanked backwards.
"What are you doing here?" Joey growled. With that, everyone's attention was on him and Bakura sighed. He really didn't feel like arguing with them at the moment. So, he dropped the bag he had for Ryou at Joey's feet. Joey let go of Bakura and picked up the bag. Once he was free, Bakura walked past him, this time, in the opposite direction. They let him go.
"Joey..." Yugi said. He was trying to figure out how he could word what he wanted to say. He knew Bakura wouldn't hurt Ryou, but he didn't know if the others would understand.
"What's this, Yugi?" Joey asked, holding up the bag.
"Bakura brought some things that Ryou might need." Yugi said. Joey just stared at him, as did everyone else. "Go look outside, Joey." Yugi said. He had a feeling that Bakura hadn't left completely. Joey looked at him in confusion for a few seconds then headed outside. Mai and Tristan followed with Yugi.
"He's not here." Joey said. He looked around the front of the building and didn't see Bakura.
"Check in other places, Joey." Yugi said. Joey was now completely confused, but chose to do as Yugi said. He looked around the corner. It was dark now so it was hard to see anything. The hospital lights lit up most of the area, but where the light didn't reach, were dark shadows. At first, Joey decided to turn around and tell Yugi he didn't find anything. That was until he heard something coming from the darkest part of the shadows. He signaled for Yugi and the others to come over and together, they walked into the shadows, searching for the source of the sound. When they got closer, they realized what the sound was.
Someone was crying.
"Yami?" Seto called. He was in the bedroom where he left Yami, but saw no sign of him. He was worried that he may have run off.
"I'm right here, Seto." Yami said quietly. He walked out of the bathroom. His eyes were red, but his face was clean. He must have washed his face.
"Are you alright?" Seto asked. Yami nodded.
"A little better than I was before you left. I needed a drink." He said. He walked over to Seto and stood in front of him. Seto moved to hug him, but Yami took a step back.
"What's the matter?" Seto asked.
"Do you love me, Seto?" Yami asked. Seto looked at him, he guessed that after all that happened, Yami needed him he loved him.
"Of course I do. I always will." Seto said calmly. He took another step forward, but Yami stepped back two steps.
"What's going on, Yami?" Seto asked.
"I don't want to hurt you, Seto." Yami said. Seto understood now. Yami thought he would hurt him.
"You won't. I promise you won't, no matter what. But...tell me one thing. Do you love me too?" Seto asked. He was a little unsure because Yami wouldn't let him hold him and he was asking strange questions.
"Of course I do!" Yami cried. He crumbled again and approached Seto, hugging him and burying his face in his lover's chest. Seto stroked Yami's hair.
"Don't worry, Yami. We'll find whatever it is that's making you do these things." Seto said.
"And then what?" Yami asked.
"What else? We'll kill it." Seto said with such sternness and sincerity that Yami couldn't help but believe him. Yami squeezed Seto harder and Seto led him to the bed. They lay down and Seto cuddled Yami up against him. The two of them fell asleep.
Seto made sure he didn't let Yami know about Ryou, it would only cause him pain and perhaps he would follow in the same steps as Ryou...
"I think there's a message on the machine." Malik said. He crawled out of bed and pulled on his clothes before checking the answering machine next to his bed.
"Leave it. Come back to bed." His Yami called from the bed, he yawned and patted the space Malik occupied only moments before.
"Sorry, it might be important." Malik said. He ignored his Yami's pout and played the message.
~Malik? This is Yugi, we need you and your Yami to come down to the hospital immediately. It's Ryou.~ Then the message ended. Malik's Yami practically jumped out of bed and got dressed.
"Let's go, Malik." Malik and his Yami raced out of the house and headed to the hospital.
"Who's there?" The voice in the shadows called. It quivered from the sobs, but remained fairly calm.
"Is that you, Bakura?" Yugi asked.
"Yugi...Go away, I need to be alone." Bakura sniffed. Although they couldn't see it, they knew Bakura was wiping away his tears.
"Don't you want to see Ryou?" Yugi asked.
"I'm sure he's better off without me." Bakura said bitterly.
"Bakura...What's gotten into you? You weren't like this earlier." Yugi said.
"Well...You can thank your friends for that. It's been made painfully clear that my presence is a burden to everyone...especially Ryou." Bakura said. He stood up and walked past Yugi and his friends, not knowing the others were there. Yugi assumed that he would go into the hospital, but instead he headed in another direction. The direction wasn't home, either.
"What is he doing...?" Yugi asked aloud. He stood there, then decided to run after him, ignoring Joey's protests. They didn't need two of them to commit suicide.
Just as Yugi disappeared down the street after Bakura, Malik and his Yami showed up.
"What's going on?" Malik asked. Joey, Tristan and Mai were in front of the hospital now, where they could be seen.
"Ryou tried to commit suicide." Joey said. Malik's eyes widened and he rushed inside. His Yami stood outside.
"Where is Bakura?" He asked.
"He ran off." Mai replied.
"Why isn't he with Ryou?" He asked. When he looked at their faces, he knew the reason. "You should be ashamed. I can't stay friends with someone who would do something like that to someone who is totally innocent!" He yelled. "Where did he go?" Joey pointed in the direction Yugi and Bakura headed. Without gratitude, he left down the street. Then Malik burst out.
"What room is-...Where did my Yami go?" Malik asked, he was worried something had happened.
"He went to get Bakura. Come inside, we'll show you where Ryou is." Tristan said. Malik looked at them, puzzled at the events but followed anyway.
(Ryou's point of view.)
Where am I...? The lights are so bright...There's some sort of beeping...
I must be in a hospital. That's right...I tried to kill myself. Why didn't my Yami just let me die? It would have been so much easier on us both. I can't sleep, the nightmares haunt me constantly. I cry out, then he can't sleep. It hurts him to see me in pain and he's been trying so hard lately. I can't stand it anymore...I just want to die, why wouldn't he let me?
"Because he loves you." A voice said. I opened my eyes, as much as they protested against the bright lights and looked over to my left where the voice came from.
"'Kura...?" I asked. He was sitting on the chair. His eyes were red and puffy so I wondered if he had been crying.
"It's me. I'm sorry I couldn't let you die." He said. He lowered his head and I cursed myself for making him think he did something wrong. He was only doing it because he loves me...
"How do you know what I'm thinking?" I asked.
"I can hear you." He said. So that would explain it. But...where is everyone else I wonder...? I guess I don't matter to them. I don't see why I should. All I've done is yelled at them for not including me in their group and for hurting my Yami. I don't belong with them, I deserve to die...
"Stop it." My Yami said, looking up at me. Now I knew he had been crying, he was crying now even.
"'Kura?" I asked. My Yami never cried. He never showed emotions, what was he doing?
"Ryou, I love you, can't you understand? I don't want you to die, and I don't want to hurt you! Why must you think such awful things? Your friends care about you, that's why they're here! They're outside, waiting for you to wake up. Now you tell me, if that's not friendship then what is? Maybe I'm not right, afterall I have been locked up for a thousand years or so. Maybe things aren't the way they used to be, but that, Ryou, is friendship!" He said to me. I stared at him in shock. That was the most emotional thing he's ever said to me. I knew that if I didn't believe him, then I really was a fool.
"You're right, 'Kura. I apologize for what I've put you through." I said quietly.
"No, Ryou. I don't want your apology. You had a good reason for doing what you did...But you have a better reason to never do it again. Please promise me that you won't hurt yourself anymore." He said. I could see his tears and I soon felt my own.
"I promise. I love you, 'Kura." It was the first time I had ever admitted it.
Yami let out a scream of pain, suddenly awakened. He sat up and grasped his head, trying to rid himself of the awful pain he felt.
"Yami?" Seto asked him. He put a hand on his shoulder, but Yami shook it off.
"Stay away." Yami got out of bed and stood up. He nearly collapsed as another wave of pain hit. He staggered about the room, trying to get to the bathroom, knocking things down in the process. Nearly collapsing many times, until he screamed and collapsed in front of the bathroom door.
"Yami!" Seto said. He rushed to Yami's side, but Yami held a hand out, signaling him to stay put.
"Stay back...It's...trying to...get control again..." Yami cried. He grasped his head again and Seto ignored his protests and walked over to him.
"Stay back!" Yami yelled, his voice was mixed with a louder, deeper voice and Seto could see the shifting between Yami and whatever it was inside him.
Seto rushed to the phone and called Joey, he knew he had a cell phone. He told him to get everyone and come to his house immediately. Yami was in trouble.
A/N - All I can say is, no, Yami won't die. I think I might be nearing the end...but I'm not sure yet. Please r/r! I'll try and clear up any questions you have.
