Awoken Love

Chapter 3

Yami was nearing his house, but was still thinking about his newfound emotions. He took off his puzzle, so he would not be heard. //Okay, so this is it: Me and Yuugi loved each other in our pasts lives. Through some kind of magic I used in my past, these necklaces allow us to hear each other's thoughts. And now that I've met him, I feel connected to him still.// Yami shook his head. //I'm too young to deal with these kind of thing!// He put the necklace back on and entered his house.

"I'm home!" he called out. Not like he excepted an answer. His parents were workaholics. Evening and Sundays were the only time Yami would see them. They'd be gone before he woke up and wouldn't return until dinner time. The first part made it so Yami had to buy lunch, which wasn't much of a problem. On the outside, his family may look like a regular middle-class family, but the truth was they were rich. Not just "successful business" rich, but "Kaiba" rich.

Yami loved his parents deeply, but often found his life similar to a black hole... nothing but emptiness inside. He could even recall a couple of times when he was younger were he broke down, just because of being alone. He was hoping that maybe Yuugi would make it so he was never alone.

Yuugi thought over all he had learned. But the vision of him kissing Yami played in his mind over and over. He had actually begun to welcome the sight and wish that he could remember how it felt. He blushed. /What am I saying? Yami wouldn't feel that way?/

//Feel what way?//

/Ahh!/ Yuugi clutched his heart. /Don't do that!"/

//What?//

/Just randomly pop into my mind./ Yuugi thought nervously.

//Sorry about that, I heard my name.//

He blushed even more. /I was just thinking about the past, trying to figure out more then what we already know./

//Any luck?//

/No./ Yuugi would have loved to see the rest of his vision.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It was getting to be night time and Yuugi started off to go to bed. He wished his grandpa a good night and went upstairs to his room. /Yami?/
//Yeah?//
/Good-night./
//Good-night, Yuugi.// Yuugi fell inot his bed, asleep, and into another flashback.
~*~*~*~FLASHBACK~*~*~*~
**Yuugi found himself looking at Yami and... /Seto Kaiba?!/
"...They want a new place to live. I would let them live here, but there wouldn't be enough room and it's not really much of a life in the palace. But I was thinking about the grounds just outside here. We can build on that land."
The Seto-look-alike smiled, but shook his head. "Yami, the empty space is there for a reason. It makes if harder for people to get into the palace if they have to run through a clear piece of land first. You were the one to suggest it, in fact."
"I know, but it will get Yuugi closer to me. If he can stay with me, I don't care how many assassins roam through the palace." Yami slumped his shoulders. "I'm desperate, Seth. I don't want to lose him."
**Yuugi saw a surprised look go through Yami's face.**
//Uh-oh.//
"But I thought he said he was staying."
"It's a charade." Yami sighed. "We'd decided to forget about him leaving and act like he's staying. It's just a game."
**/A game? Why would I leave him?/**
The man named Seth shook his head. "You know this is going to hurt when the `game' ends right? You would have been better off keeping your feelings at bay."
"I didn't come here to talk a bout my relationships, Seth, I came here to see if you would agree with me. It's important that I have all of you on my side when I heard the guards' reactions to my plan."
"Well, it sounds good."
"Okay, then. In two days we'll need some kind of formal agreement. I don't think the villagers will disagree with us nor have any complaints. When you get a chance, go around to everyone else and see what they think." Yami smiled. "I think Yuugi will like this plan, too." Yami walked from the room and informed Jounouchi that he was done talking.
**/Jounouchi? He looks like the same Jounouchi that goes to school with me! Why's he here?/**
Yami smiled wildly. //Maybe this game won't have to end.// He walked back to his room and saw Yuugi sitting with his back faced to him. "Yuugi?"
"Yami, I will be leaving this weekend."
**Yuugi blinked. He wasn't quite sure what was going on, most of it confused him, but he just watched with interest.**
Yami blinked. "Excuse me?"
"I heard the conversation. I can't stay here forever, Yami. I wasn't there to help them recover and grieve. I have responsibilities to all those people. I grew up with them. I need to help them. I wasn't able to before, but now I can. When I wasn't able to, I felt so guilty. I was out to save my own life while I should've stayed and help rebuild. Do you expect me to drop all my responsibilities?"
"Oh, Ra, of course not!" Yami went over to Yuugi.
"Then why do you think building our new home near the palace will get me to stay with you?"
"What?!"
"Do you think you can keep me here? That you can just move everyone nearby and I'll stay?"
"I just want you to be happy and near me, if possible."
"Yami, be honest with me. What do you want me to do?"
Yami looked at the smaller boy's wine-colored eyes even though those eyes didn't look back. "I would want you to be with me. Every morning when I wake up, you'd be with me. I want last night to be replayed every night for the rest of our lives."
"And what would you do if I still did not stay."
//Yuugi...//
~*~*~*~END OF FLASHBACK~*~*~*~
Yuugi woke up, eyes wide. It was morning. /Palace? Was Yami a king or something? And what did we DO "last night"?!/
//Not so loud, Yuugi...//
/Yami?/
//Who else do you hear in your head?//
Yuugi blinked. /Did you have a vision?/
//Yeah. It was really weird. I was talk to a guy that looks like Seto Kaiba, but I called him Seth.//
/I had that same vision, too./ Yuugi stared at his necklace. /Yami, I want to ask you something. It might sound weird, but bare with me./
//Okay.//
Yuugi took a breath. /Ever since I met you, I've been feeling different. I'm still myself, but it's like a realized a part of me a never had./
//A part of you?//
/Yeah. I want to know if the same has been happening to you./
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Yami knew what was happening to him. He's been falling in love. //Yeah, something like that has happened.// Yami rolled over onto his side. //I just have the incredible urge to be with you.//

/So do I. I feel like I KNOW you. Even more than what you've told me./

//How could you know?//

/I mean things from your past life./

Suddenly, Yami got a small image of looking through bars at a very frightened looking Yuugi. //Bars? A prison?//

/Yeah, something like that flashed through my mind just now./

Yami sighed. //I really wish I knew everything that happened, Yuugi. Why you had to leave, why you were in a prison and why we fell in love.// The last part was easy for him. He knew why already. Yami knew he lived a bleak life in his past and Yuugi had brightened it up, just as he's doing now. //I will take to you later, Yuugi. I have things I need to do.//

/Okay./

Yami sighed. Suddenly, the world spun and he was trapped in another vision.

~*~*~*~FLASHBACK~*~*~*~

"I cannot go with you."

The Yami turned. "Nani?"

Yuugi backed away a bit. "I cannot go with you."

"And why not? I have released you from the prison, I will not harm you."

He didn't know what to do. /I can't go with him. But what can I tell him?/ "I wish not to say."

Yami started to look cross. "You will tell me, or you will go back into the prison."

Stuck. "Please, you have done enough… you have freed me, I do not want or need more."

"Tell me, not because I'm the Pharaoh, but because I want to know."

**//Let me get this right. I was a Pharaoh. Yuugi was in prison. I helped him escape. Okay, now why was Yuugi in prison? He's too innocent to do anything criminal.//

"You will not harm me?"

"No."

"A-about five months ago, your army burned down and destroyed a small neighborhood. It was my neighborhood… my… my parents were killed. It w-was your army, you… you killed my parents!" Yuugi went to the ground. "How could you use your powers to destroy innocent people?! No one there did anything wrong! Your attempted assassin was not from our area! And you sent people to destroy everyone there… including my parents!"

~*~*~*~END OF FLASHBACK~*~*~*~

//I did WHAT?!// Yami jolted up. //I killed...//

/Yami? What are you talking about?/

Yami jumped. //Nothing!// he thought.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
/You sure?/ Yuugi asked.
//Yeah, I gotta go.//
/Okay.../ Suddenly he felt their connection close. /He must've taken off the necklace./ Yuugi sighed. /Everything's so confusing nowadays. It's bad enough I don't have any friends... but now I've fallen for the only one I have. I'm not even sure we are friends./
Yuugi was defiantly in a pinch. Even before of the vision he had of him kissing Yami, he felt something besides the want of friendship for Yami. /It was love. I know it. And it scares me./ He buried his head in his pillow and started to cry. His emotions were messed up and his head was full of doubt. He promised he would never tell Yami.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

//This is wonderful. How am I supposed to tell Yuugi all this and STILL hope for him to love me in return. It may be in our past lives, but it still happened.//

Yami looked at his necklace. //Why did it have to be me? Is fate really cruel enough to do this to me?// He put the necklace in his dresser and left to go on a walk. //I gotta get this sorted out. Let me think. Obviously, if I was a Pharaoh I must've lived in Egypt.// Suddenly a thought came to him. //Egyptians believed that fate was decided for you and history repeated itself. So, if Yuugi and I are incarnations then are we destined to be together? I hope so.//

Y-n-Y: So? Did everyone like it? I hope so!

Yuugi: That sounds familiar.

Y-n-Y: Of course it does! I JUST wrote it in the fic!

Yami: Isn't that plagiarism?

Y-n-Y: How can something I wrote be plagiarized by myself?

Yami: ::shrugs::

Y-n-Y: -_-;; Yuugi, go teach you little lover-boy over there about the meaning of plagiarism, he doesn't seem to get the idea.

Yuugi: ::sigh:: Sorry about that. ::drags Yami off to the bedroom and smiles:: Okay, Yami, this is how it works... ::bedroom door shuts::

Y-n-Y: -_- Why do I have the feeling that what they're gonna do doesn't involve talking? Anyway, review, please. ^_^V
