Yu-Gi-Oh! Fan Fiction ❯ Reincarnation ❯ Meeting Up With The Past ( Chapter 6 )
Meeting Up With The Past
Chapter 6
Yuugi walked to his school. He was caught up in his own world. He stopped by a bus bench and put his backpack on it. He had the urge to put his necklace on. The want to be connected to his love was strong. Soon a vision fell into his mind.
~*~*~*~FLASHBACK~*~*~*~
"Yami! Let's go for a walk!" Yuugi started shaking Yami on the bed.
The Pharaoh rolled on top of him. "But it's so pleasant inside." He started kissing Yuugi's face.
Yuugi pouted. "But it's beautiful outside. Fresh air, blue skies..."
"Alright, alright... Let's get dressed and go outside."
**Yuugi watched as he and Yami playfully dressed each other. He felt his cheeks grow warm watching them.**
"You look like an angel dressed in all that white, Yuugi."
Yuugi giggled. "And you look like a Pharaoh with all those jewels and silk on."
Yami smiled. "That's because I AM the Pharaoh." He bent down to kiss Yuugi on the forehead. "Let's get going, Yuugi." They walked to the garden and sat on one of the benches. Yuugi curled up next to his lover.
**Yuugi looked around. /It is beautiful out here./ Out of the corner of his eyes, Yuugi saw a shadow creep toward the unsuspecting couple. /No!/**
Yuugi opened his eyes and saw the shadow. He face twisted up. /I guess this is it. I can't have Yami getting hurt./
//What are you talking about, Yuugi?//
Yuugi smiled. Tears were being held back, not to cause suspicion. "I love you, Yami. Forever."
"I love you, too, Yuugi. That will never change." Yami bent his head to claim his lover's lips. Yuugi kept his eyes open, watching the shadow on the reflective surface of Yami's jewelry.
**Yuugi tried calling out to them, to warn them in some way. But he failed. He knew what was going to happen.**
Yuugi saw the shadow less than ten feet away and he pulled back from Yami. He stood in front of Yami, blocking his view of the danger. "Yami, look at me." The Pharaoh's crimson eyes met with Yuugi's violet ones. "Yami, don't forget me."
Yami saw as Yuugi's eyes widen, he felt pain coming from Yuugi. He broke his gaze with Yuugi's eyes to see a dark red spot seeping through Yuugi's angelic clothes. "Yuugi..."
**Yuugi screamed. He knew no one would hear him. He could not change the past.**
"YUUGI!!!" Yami screamed.
Soon guards filled the garden and searched for the assassin. Yami cradled the limp body, knowing his love was already dead. He felt a hand touch his shoulder and looked up into Bakura's dark chocolate eyes. Tears ran unheeded down both of their faces.
~*~*~*~END OF FLASHBACK~*~*~*~
Yuugi gasped as the last vision faded from his mind. Tears started running down his face.

Yami got to school in record time. He needed extra time to go to the attendance office to talk to one of the aides. He finally spotted the white-haired boy he was looking for. "Hey, Bakura!" The boy didn't turn around. Yami tapped his shoulder. When the boy turned, he realized why he didn't answer, he wasn't Bakura. "Oh, I'm sorry," Yami apologized. "I thought you were someone else."
"Well, you're not the first. A lot of people have been confusing me with him since I arrived here this weekend. I guess we look alike."
Yami nodded. There was defiantly a resemblance. "I'm Yami, by the way."
"I'm Ryou. It's very nice to meet you."
"I'd like to talk longer, but I'm looking for someone. Maybe we'll see each other again."
Ryou nodded as Yami walked off. //C'mon, Bakura, where are you?// He looked around and saw another clump of white hair. "Bakura?"
Bakura turned and was surprised to see Yami. "Why're you at school so early?"
Yami smiled. "I need you to do me a favor."
Bakura frowned. "Uh-uh! The last time you said that I got detention for a month for adding a certain `Obei Mi' to the school's attendance."
"Hey that was more Marik's idea than mine. And all I want you to do is get me the schedule of `Mouto Yuugi.'"
"Ph, and can I ask why?"
Yami blushed. "Because I said so."
"Ah, Yami finally has a crush."
He scowled. "Just give me his schedule, Bakura."
"All right. Only if you tell me the story between you two."
"It's a long one..." Yami sighed nd started telling his friend about his necklace and his `dreams.'
"Well, at least I know I'm not crazy."
"Huh?"
Bakura smiled a bit. "I've been having weird dreams lately, too. I dreamt that you were the Pharaoh. Scary thought, huh?"
Yami shook his head. "I WAS the Pharaoh."
"Kaiba was there, too."
"I remember seeing Kaiba there, too." Their conversation Yami had with the brunette still mystified him. He wanted to learn more about his illusive past.
"So, is this Mouto Yuugi the same Yuugi from our past?" Bakura asked.
Yami nodded. He knew the taunting that was going to follow his admission. "So then, what are you waiting for, Yami?"
//Huh? I was sure he was gonna start teasing me about liking the boy.// "He claims he's too weak. He thinks he's not good enough for me. He doesn't believe I love him." Yami looked briefly at his necklace. "He hasn't even put on his necklace. And this morning I found out the school bullies beat him every morning."
"I'll keep an eye out for him. He doesn't know me, so he won't suspect anything. I'll ask Seto and Marik, too."
"Thanks, Bakura. By the way, have you met that look-a-like of yours yet?"
Bakura blushed. "Yes..."
A small vision passed by Yami's mind. "He was in the past with us. You two were pretty close, weren't you?" Yami teased.
"Quiet, or I won't give you his schedule."
"Fine, fine." Yami waited patiently for Bakura to get the schedule. "Thanks, I owe you one."
"You owe me more than one, Yami."

Yuugi entered his school hallways and went to his first class. His vision had shaken his spirit up. Life never held as much meaning to him as it did now. He wouldn't let the past happen again. He wouldn't put Yami through the same heartache.
Yuugi kept looking around, hoping that no bullies would come his way as he tried to slip into the classroom.

However, he was unaware of two crimson eyes following him. They guaranteed safe passage for Yuugi. Once Yami had saw Yuugi make it safely inside, he hurried to his own Japanese class. //I'll go see him at lunch, he wouldn't cause a big disturbance in the present of other students. All I have to do is wait until lunch. Maybe we can talk more rationally.//
Yami followed Yuugi to all of his classes. Math, English and Art. He was never seen my Yuugi and that's how he wanted it. On the flip-side, Yami was late for his Drama, History and Math classes. //But Yuugi's safety is worth it.//
Finally, lunch came. Yami didn't know where to start looking for Yuugi. "Hey, Yami!"
Yami turned to see Marik and Bakura running to him. "What?"
Marik grinned, which sort of frightened Yami. "We know where Yuugi is."
"Where?"
"In the library."
Yami smacked his head. //Of course! Yuugi knows what kind of danger he's in without teacher supervision. There's always a teacher in the library.// "Thanks, guys." Yami started to run off.
"Yami! Wait a second!"
He turned back around at Bakura' voice. "What?!"
The white haired boy laughed. "I managed to get this little item away from Yuugi." He held out the necklace.
"What possessed you to do that?"
Bakura shrugged. "To see how easy it would be."
Yami rolled his eyes and grabbed the necklace. "See you guys later!"

Yuugi sat at a round table next to the librarian's desk. He was busy working on homework when he saw someone enter the library. /Yami! What's he doing here?/ Yuugi tried to make himself as invisible as possible, but with his hair, it was a failed attempt. He watched as Yami sat across from him.
Yuugi looked up from his book when he heard something hit the table. He looked up and saw his necklace. /But it should be in my backpack./ He lifted his bag and realized how light it was. "Go ahead and keep it," Yuugi said. "I was trying to get rid of it anyway." Needless to say, Yami smiled when he heard this.
"Really? And what if I told you one of my friends stole it from you without you knowing?"
The smaller boy remained quiet. He picked up the necklace and put it back in his bag. Yami was still sitting there. "Why are you still here?"
Yami leaned back in his seat. "It's the library, anyone's allowed in here, is there some reason why I shouldn't be here?"
"Yami, whatever you're trying to do, it's not working."
"You're wrong. I came in here to talk with you without you running out of here. Someplace I knew you wouldn't cause scene at. So, I would say it's working."
"Yami, please, listen to me; the past is in the past, I'm not the same Yuugi from then-"
"And I'm not the same Yami either. You argument is null." Yami leaned forward, with elbows on the tabletop. "There is no reason for what you're doing. You're not weak. At least you weren't weak."
"What do you mean by that?"
"You let yourself become weak when you pushed me away. Yuugi, no matter how low you think of yourself, I guarantee you're one of the most caring people I know. Caring doesn't make you weak."
Yuugi shut his book. "Yami, I am leaving. You're making this harder for me. I do know what it feels like to love someone and not have your feelings returned-"
"But they are-"
Yuugi shook his head. "Not with your whole heart. It hurts because I know you can do better than me. I am not going to drag you down a dead end. Maybe you do love me, just not for the right reasons."
"Yuugi, I-" //This is so hard to say aloud.// "Put your necklace on so we can talk to each other."
Yuugi looked at the necklace cautiously. When he finally put it on, Yami felt like he gained another sense. A sense that comes as goes as fast as the necklace is put on and removed. //What are the right reasons to love, Yuugi? Personality? Like how you're always so curious. Or is it physical. Like your smile, or you innocent eyes. If it is, all of these things make me love you.//
Yuugi made a move to take off the necklace.
"Don't. Just keep it on, just in case something happens to you."
"I don't know..." Yuugi stood up and took off the necklace. "I'll see you later."
Yami watched as his love walked out of the library. Suddenly, Yami felt something open inside him. //Thank you, Yuugi.// Yami headed outside hoping to find Yuugi still there. He wasn't, but Bakura and Marik were. "You guys seen Yuugi?"
Bakura nodded. "Yeah, Kaiba's going to watch him right now."
"Thanks a bunch, you guys."
Marik rolled his eyes and Bakura just smirked. "You're gonna owe us a lot."
"Yeah, I know."
They laughed. "So, what now?" the blond asked.
"I wait until Yuugi talks to me again. I'm not gonna push him, but something's not right."
Y-n-Y: Oooh, I hoped you all liked this chappie! I tried my best on it.
Yami & Yuugi: T_T
Y-n-Y: :: nods :: I found myself sniffling as I wrote this chapter.
Marik: So, just review so they can be all happy again and write another chapter.
