Yu-Gi-Oh! Fan Fiction ❯ Reincarnation ❯ Yuugi's Lil' Secret ( Chapter 5 )
Yuugi's Lil' Secret
Chapter 5
Indeed, his trip to the arcade did Yami wonders. He was able to get everything off his mind and concentrate on something else instead of Yuugi. It had been a long and horrible day for him, and he knew that tomorrow was worse because of school.
It was only eight at night and he still hadn't eaten dinner, but Yami decided it would be better for him to get to sleep earlier instead of thinking about his life.

"Finished!" he said looking at the puzzle. "Again..." It had taken him less time than before, especially since he didn't eat, because now Yuugi knew what he was doing. He put it on, tempted to call out to Yami and see if he would answer. Yuugi didn't know what he would do if Yami refused to answer back. "No, I'm not going to talk to him." He took off the necklace and set it on the dresser. /I love Yami, but he doesn't know me. I'm weak. No one can be happy with someone's whose weak./
Yuugi looked at the clock and groaned. /Eleven? Time to go to bed. I got school tomorrow and I wouldn't want to disappoint the bullies of their daily punching bag./ He frowned and started to dress for bed. /I hope I wasn't this weak in my past life./

Yami woke up and took one look at his clock. //I'm up two hours early?// It was still a little dark outside, with the sun not filly shining. //Might as well take a walk. I know I'm not gonna fall asleep again.// He got dressed and started to head outside, then the necklace sprung into his mind. He still didn't feel right without it. He gave into temptation and put it around his neck. Then he started out for his walk.

Yuugi heard his alarm clock go off. /Good, two hours early./ He got up and started to get dressed. He had long since told his grandpa that he helps the teacher in the morning. /Which is true... providing that the teacher is there.../ He collected his backpack and started to head downstairs. Then he stopped. He looked into his room and at his necklace. Giving up, he put it in his backpack and went downstairs to eat breakfast.
He quickly fixed some cereal and went off to school. /I should be early enough for them to miss me. Hopefully./ He was almost to his school and had sighed in relief.
"Hey, there, Yuugi."
Yuugi turned around a grimaced. /I guess I'm not that lucky./ "Y-yes?"
The taller boy grinned evilly. "Trying to get away from me, huh?"
"No, no..."
"Shut up!" Yuugi stopped talking. "Now, time to teach you a lesson."

Yami kept walking. He was getting close to the school. //And closer to Yuugi's house.// He wasn't that far from it, he realized.
Ten minutes later and he was at his house. He stood and looked at it, wondering if Yuugi was awake. Yami regretted the previous day. He sighed and continued walking.
He was about a block or two away from Yuugi's house when he heard some voice. "No, no..." was a much more quieter one. "Shut up!" came another voice. Yami ran to where the two voices came from and saw Yuugi backed up against a walk and a taller kid glaring at him. "Yuugi..." Yami whispered. He saw the kid take a swing at Yuugi and it connected at Yuugi's jaw with a loud crack. Yuugi fell to the ground. "Yuugi!" Yami yelled as he ran to him.
"Who is this, Yuugi? A friend of yours?" the bully asked.
Yuugi lifted his body up a little and stared at Yami. He was confused about why Yami was helping him. /Why? Why is he here?/
"You will let him go now," Yami's voice said frigidly.
The punk laughed. "Oh, yeah? Make me," he taunted.
Yami just narrowed his crimson eyes and growled. "Don't tempt me. Let him go now."
The taller one kept laughing. He kicked Yuugi's side and he was sent sprawling on the ground again. Seeing that, Yami charged at the guy and his fist flew into the other's stomach. The bully went down to his knees, out of breath. He carefully picked Yuugi up and went to his house.
"Don't wake... Grandpa..." Yuugi muttered.
"Shh." He took of Yuugi's backpack and him on his bed. "Let me see your face." The smaller boy tuned his head towards Yami, obeying him. Yami's eyes widened when he saw the already forming bruise. "Is this what you didn't tell me? What didn't happen on Friday?"
Yuugi nodded as tears left his eyes. /Yami knew. Now, he'll think I'm weak./
"Yuugi, why couldn't you tell me?" Yami asked.
"I'm weak. Y-you don't want someone as weak as I am." He turned his face away.
"You're not weak, Yuugi. I lo-"
"No, you don't!" Yuugi sat up and pointed towards the door. "Go, Yami! Leave me alone! I'm fine without you!"
Yami was angered again. "You're telling me that being beaten up is fine?!" He spat the last word out.
"Jut go..." Yuugi pleaded.
Yami grabbed his shoulders and kissed him hard. "Don't tell me I don't love you." And he left.
Yuugi buried his head in his pillow and cried. He felt his lips tingle as he remembered Yami kissing him. /He saved me. He can't be too mad at me./ He touched his lips and started crying harder. He knew what people meant by `the past will haunt you'. It was in his past life he was Yami's lover and now Yuugi refused to have to follow destiny. /Yami only loves me because he thinks I am like the `past-me', but I'm not. I'm weak. The me I saw in my dreams was stronger then I am now./

Yami found it hard to be mad at Yuugi. Actually, it was easy to be mad at him, just hard to stay mad. //He is so stubborn. I bet he wasn't like this in the past.// He looked at the time. //I've must've been walking around quite awhile. School's gonna start soon.// He walked home and gathered up his books and left again. He kept his necklace on for comfort. Even if Yuugi didn't wear his, he could still feel Yuugi.

Yuugi wearily got out of bed, still surprised by Yami's sudden appearance. /Why did Yami have to show up? Why couldn't he let me be?/ He went to the bathroom to look at the damage the bully inflected on him. He saw the bluish tint of the forming bruise. "It's gonna be hard to hide that one." He washed his face and took out a small box. /I'm lucky I found this on the ground./ He opened the box and saw...make-up. It was just face powder used to cover up such bruises. As soon as he was finished he left for school again.
Y-n-Y: Okay, I know that was short, but I promise the next is gonna be longer. I just had to leave it there cuz I wanted the next chapter to be with them at school and it wouldn't sound right if I just stopped writing about the school section and ended the chapter... I know how much you all love cliffhangers... so I decided to spare you a big one.
Yami: Don't listen to her, she just hasn't completed the school chapter yet.
Y-n-Y: ^.^;; oops...
Yami: ::sighs:: Just get writing!
Y-n-Y: Yeah, yeah... I bet YOU never had to take a final when you were the Pharaoh. ::grumbles:: So, just review in the meantime, please?
