Midnight Stalker
Umi walked into the bedroom and saw the empty bed. “Aria?” Umi returned to the kitchen and the Living Room to find his wife, but she was nowhere to be found. Umi walked onto the top deck of the houseboat and saw Aria standing on the deck. She was looking up into the starry sky.
“Aria? Are you okay?”
Aria sighed and crossed her arms. “I'm thinking.”
“About? The baby? Your brother?”
“Neither. I'm thinking about Rhett.”
Umi walked beside her and joined her in stargazing. “What about him?”
“I hope Rhett didn't get Shadow Powers.”
“Why would that be a bad thing?”
Aria turned to him. “Look at what it has done to me. Look at what it has done to my family.”
“I don't understand. Rhett could benefit from the magic that your family exhibits. I don't get why it's a bad thing.”
Aria wiped a teary eye. “You know better than that, Umi. You know what happens when my yami side takes over me. You know what I can do when that side bursts through. You have seen what Aten can do, too. How can that not be dangerous?”
Umi looked back up into the sky quietly. “I know it's dangerous when your yami side shows itself. I've seen it many times.”
“I don't want my children to live with this. It's confusing and it's scary to a little child to use these powers that are capable of doing great harm. A child doesn't know how to handle these powers which are difficult even for older, mature people to handle.”
“We don't even know if it was Rhett who healed Malik's hand.”
Aria rolled her eyes. “A cut doesn't heal THAT quickly. A cut takes a few days to heal completely. I've never seen a cut heal that quickly before.”
“Well, what are we going to do if Rhett does have that type of healing power?”
Aria shrugged. “I don't know.”
“Do you think he can heal Aten? Maybe he can correct Aten's heart problem and then maybe he won't die.”
Aria shook her head. “I don't know. I'm still trying to figure out how we are going to handle an infant with Shadow Powers. What about Kai? What if he develops Shadow Powers next?”
“Well, your parents handled you and your brother and both of you had Shadow Magic. Ask them how they handled two babies with magical abilities.”
“I know I was more of a handful when it came to Shadow Magic than my brother. Daddy had a hard time keeping me in line with my magic. It takes training on how to focus those powers, but Rhett is too young. You can't train a newborn on the Theory of Shadow Magic.”
Umi put his hand on Aria's stomach. “Do you think this one will have Shadow Magic powers, too?”
Aria swallowed hard. Seto didn't have any magical abilities. Would this baby have Shadow Magic if Seto was the father? Umi didn't have any powers, and yet Rhett was exhibiting special abilities.
“I don't know. It's hard to say.”
“I guess we'll have to wait and see. Do you think it's another boy?”
Aria shrugged. “I don't know. `Third time's the charm,' isn't that what they say?”
Umi hugged her. “Don't worry about it, Aria. We'll handle this. If Rhett has Shadow Powers, then we'll work with it.”
Aria hugged him back. “What about Kai? What if he has powers, too?”
“We'll deal with it, Aria. It's late and you've had a long day. Come to bed.”
Aria kissed his cheek. “I'll be with you shortly.”
“I'll wait up for you,” Umi said kissing her gently on the lips.
Aria continued looking up at the sky and sighed. “I never thought my kids would have Shadow Magic. What am I going to do?”
****************************
Marik opened his eyes and saw a blur in front of his eyes. The room spun around him, causing him to close his eyes. His hearing sounded fuzzy as he opened his eyes, attempting to view his surroundings.
He went to rub his forehead when he realized his arms were not able to be moved. He looked down and felt something restrain his arms against his body. He recognized it as a straight jacket.
“What the hell?” he moaned.
He looked around the dim room and saw that the walls were cushioned with white. He
tugged at the straps as the room began to spin again. He leaned against the wall and closed his eyes.
//Malik…….answer me.//
/Marik! Oh my god, are you okay?!/
//Dizzy….//
/Where are you?/
Marik opened his eyes and tried to overcome his blurry eyesight. //Can't see….vision is cloudy.//
/Are you hurt?/
Marik tried to stand up, but he fell over. He tried to move his legs and tugged. //My legs are tied up. I can't move.//
/Hold on, Marik. We'll get you out./
//I don't know where I am.//
/Don't give up, Marik. What can you tell me about where you are? What do you see around you?/
The door to the room opened up and Marik narrowed his eyes.
“I see our little mouse is awake.”
“Let me out and I'll show you I'm no mouse! You fuck with the tiger's tail, you get the teeth!”
The two doctors shook their heads. “Such violent tendencies! We will be better able to study you when you are not so hostile.”
“Not fucking likely, you bastards! Let me go! NOW!”
“We can't have you talking such nonsense,” one doctor said as he began filling a syringe with a clear liquid.
“You won't get away with this! I am a human being!”
The other doctor smiled. “Your DNA fascinated us when we examined it. You are anything BUT human, Mr. Ishtar. We aim to find out what you are….what kind of creature you are.”
“'CREATURE?' I am not a beast of burden! I am a person!”
The doctor smiled. “I think not.”
The other doctor held him down as the other injected him with the clear liquid.
//Malik!//
/Marik! Who are those people?!/
//Malik……help.//
Marik could hear Malik crying through the mindlink as he slipped into unconsciousness.
**************************************
Malik sat at the edge of the bed and felt the familiar stinging on his arm. When the mindlink with his yami closed and Marik became unresponsive, he buried his face in his hands.
`What am I gong to do? Where can he be? How can I save him?'
Malik sighed in resignation. Domino City was a big city with lots of people. Like Egypt, he knew there was a city beneath Domino. Sewers were not out of the question. That would be one place where he knew nobody would look for Marik.
He lived beneath the sands of the desert as a child, so he knew that beneath the ground lay another world.
Rocher had to be behind Marik's disappearance. Hell, he was just as responsible for Bakura's severe injuries.
What could subdue Marik so much that the yami couldn't retaliate? Marik was conscious and should have been able to fight off his captors.
`Marik's not weak. Whatever is keeping him out of commission is doing a good job.'
A knock sounded on the door and Bakura opened it slowly.
“Any news?”
“Marik was awake, but something happened. He's unconscious again.”
Bakura crossed his arms and leaned against the door frame. “I'm going to look for him tonight.”
“Bakura, you can't! What if those goons get to you, too?”
“Then I'll be able to find Ishtar and be able to bring him home. I have to go. Alone.”
Malik stood up. “If Marik can't fight back, you won't be able to either.”
“I can take a beating, Hikari Ishtar. You know that.”
“Marik can take a beating, too, and look at where he is.”
Bakura grinned. “You forget. I can sneak among the shadows quite well. I was doing that five thousand years before you suckled at your mother's breast.”
“Bakura, I don't want to see anything happen to you.”
Bakura approached Malik and put both hands on his shoulders. “Don't worry about me. Maxie is here and she'll keep watch.”
“But--.”
“No, no. I'll be fine. You keep an eye on Ry while I'm gone.”
Malik nodded. “Okay.”
“Good. Ryou knows I'm leaving. He's asleep at the moment. I'll be back by the time you wake up.”
“Okay, `Kura. Please be careful.”
Bakura hugged the blond. “Be safe.”
“Do you have….protection?”
Bakura grinned. “I never go out at night without being armed to the teeth. So long.”
Bakura left the room and ran down the stairs. “Maxie, keep an eye on these two.”
“I always do. You be careful out there.”
“I'll be fine. Like you, I'm a good thief and a good sneak.”
Maxine gave a little giggle and grinned. “Me? A thief?”
“I can smell a thief a mile away.”
Maxine bat her eyes and folded her hands. “I'm an angel. I'm no thief.”
“Nice try, but I see right through you. Goodnight, Maxie.”
“Goodbye, you rogue.”
Bakura grinned and ran to the kitchen and through the back door, disappearing into the night.
*******************************
Bakura looked up at the brick building with wooden boards covering where the windows had been. He looked down the streets and saw only the street lights illuminating the area. The shops and restaurants had long closed their doors for the night.
Bakura knocked on the door to the brick building and heard a click behind the door. A man opened the door and pointed a gun at Bakura's forehead.
“What do you want?”
Bakura grinned. “You're going to point you gun at your Lord's partner? I don't think Marik would appreciate it.”
The Asian man withdrew his gun and replaced it in his holster. “Mister Bakura. Where is Lord Marik?”
“He's in deep shit right now and I came to speak to your leader.”
The man lead Bakura into a room decorated with red and gold Chinese dragons and a table with a Japanese tea set.
One man was sitting on a chair by a table with people counting Yen. He looked up and Bakura recognized him as Marik's main contact.
“Greetings, Mister Bakura. Where is our Lord? You haven't come with him.”
“I know Marik told you about Rocher. Have you discovered anything?”
The man put down a handful of Yen. “Rocher has been sending spies into the local underworld to get secrets about Seto Kaiba's business dealings.”
“What about kidnapping?”
“Rocher is not below shady dealings.”
Bakura crossed his arms. “Rocher could have damn near killed my partner. He tried to kill me, but as you know, like Marik, it's harder to kill me.”
The man nodded. “Lord Marik is great spirit who cannot die. He lives forever.”
“Rocher may have Marik at this very moment.”
Every man in the room turned towards Bakura with a look of disbelief. The old man who put down the money stood up. He walked towards Bakura and looked into the yami's brown eyes.
“Repeat.”
“Rocher may have Marik at this very moment.”
The old man's bottom lip trembled. “What?”
“Marik is in deep trouble and I have come to tell you to send your best men out there.”
“Rocher is a dangerous man without honor. Lord Marik will have to be strong.”
Bakura shrugged. “I don't know if Rocher has him. Marik is missing and all we know is that he is unconscious and possibly injured.”
“No idea where he is?”
Bakura shook his head. “No.”
The old man turned to his men and spoke in his native language. The other men stood up and bowed to him, filing out of the room quickly.
“I have sent my men to inform the other factions.”
“I'm going to look for him. I'm not going to let him suffer.”
The old man put his hands on Bakura's shoulders. “Our Lord will not give in to Rocher's will.”
“I better get on his trail. Keep your eyes and ears open. If you hear anything, let me know.”
Bakura left the building and walked along the streets, seeing some scattered people sleeping on the steps of closed stores. He saw a family standing in an alley, huddled around a burning trashcan.
A little girl turned towards Bakura. He saw her gaunt face in the firelight and stopped.
The little girl left the burning trashcan and walked towards Bakura. She stepped into the streetlight and looked up at him. Bakura looked down at the child dressed in dirty, old clothes.
She opened up her hand to him and sadly looked up at him. “Please?”
Bakura looked up and saw her mother run towards her daughter.
“Evie! Come back to the fire.”
Bakura looked down at the child as her mother stood beside her. “I won't hurt her.”
The mother looked up at him. “You're…..”
Bakura grinned. “You've heard of me, then.”
“Other people talk.”
“I'm sure they do, miss. Otherwise, I wouldn't have such a famous reputation.”
The mother took her child's hand. “Lots of people talk about you if you are him.”
Bakura reached into his pocket and handed the child a dollar coin. “Buy yourself a piece of candy, sweetheart.”
The child smiled and ran back to the fire with her brothers.
“Thank you.”
Bakura smiled. “I have a daughter, too. I know how tough it can be.”
The woman looked down the street. “It's hard.”
“I used to live on the streets, too. I know all about it. I take good care of my people, as you probably have heard.”
The woman nodded. “I have heard.”
“Keep your chin up, miss,” Bakura said patting her cheek. “Someday the rich will fall and all of us below will rise above them. They will be the ones keeping warm in the alleys. This will all change someday. Go protect your children.”
Bakura heard the sound of running to his left. He turned his head and saw a dark figure running quickly towards him. The woman ran into the alley quickly towards her children.
Bakura turned and watched the person run towards him.
“MASTER BAKURA!”
Bakura waited for the person to approach. He streetlights revealed a person of about twenty years of age. The person approached him and panted heavily.
“Jacks? I thought you lived in the other side of town.”
The man shook his head as he panted. “I found a way here. I found something you might need.”
“What did you find?”
The young man stood up as he caught his breath. “The people who took your friend didn't take him in a marked government vehicle.”
Bakura crossed his arms. “The INS took Marik.”
The man shook his head. “The INS mark their vehicles. They couldn't have taken Marik.”
Bakura narrowed his eyes. “It WAS Rocher! I knew it!”
The man shook his head. “The men weren't employed by Rocher, master.”
“But you just said that the vehicle wasn't marked.”
“I've heard others say that those men didn't look like Rocher's goons. Nobody has ever seen them before.”
Bakura leaned against the lamppost. “So if Rocher's men didn't take Marik and the INS didn't take Marik, who has him?”
The man shook his head. “Nobody knows.”
Bakura closed his eyes and growled. “Fucking shit! How am I going to find him now?”
The man shrugged. “That is all the information I could find. Eagle Eye said she watched the car head east from KaibaCorp, but it disappeared from her view before she could give chase.”
“Eagle Eye?”
“Yeah, she said she was looking for easy pockets to pick when she saw Marik being lead out of KaibaCorp by two men. She thought it was odd and she gave chase.”
Bakura took a deep breath. “I'll go speak with Eagle Eye.” Bakura handed the boy a dollar. “Thanks, Jacks.”
Bakura ran away from the young man. Somebody had Marik in their custody. Somebody was causing Marik pain. Somebody had to pay for that pain.
Bakura ran through the streets and approached KaibaCorp. He saw the flashing lights of cop cars and hid in the shadows as they passed.
He walked along the street and walked up to a house. Bakura knocked on the doors.
A woman with a short dress and half-covered breasts opened the door. “Well, well, if it isn't the King of Thieves! What brings you here, sweet thing?”
Bakura grinned. “Let me in, Jewel.”
The woman stepped aside and Bakura entered the room. Twenty women sat in the living room, waiting. Three women in leather stood up and walked towards Bakura with a grin.
“Hello, sugar. Want some fun?”
“Well, if it isn't the sexy King.”
“If it isn't the Angel of the Night in the flesh.”
Bakura grinned as the women pet his chest and hair. “Ladies, please, I'm here on official business. I have my own little kitten at home.”
Jewel smiled at him. “You don't want to play, sexy?”
Bakura grinned. “I'm loyal to my hikari. I appreciate the advances, but I have Ryou at home and I'm not willing to break our bond. I need to speak to Eagle Eye.”
“She just finished with her client. You can go upstairs and see her if you'd like.”
Bakura walked up the stairs and down the dim hallway. Numbered doors lined either side of the corridor. Bakura knocked on the last door in the hallway.
“Come in.”
Bakura opened the door and saw a woman smoking a cigarette wearing nothing but a pair of high-heeled boots.
“Eagle Eye.”
The woman of about thirty smiled at him. “Well, if it isn't the King of Thieves….Defender of the Down-Trodden. Come for a piece of my pie?”
Bakura shook his head. “You know better than to ask me that, Eagle Eye.”
The naked woman stood up and walked towards Bakura. She pressed herself up against Bakura and touched his cheek lightly.
“I'm honored to see you in my room. What do you want?”
“Jacks told me you saw men take Marik away from KaibaCorp.”
The woman nodded. “I was looking for pockets to pick and saw Marik being lead out.”
“What kind of vehicle?”
“A car.”
“Did it look like an official government car?”
Eagle Eye shook her head. “No. Nothing like that.”
“The people weren't Rocher's?”
Eagle Eye brushed her hair behind her shoulder. “I've never seen them before. I have a couple clients that are Rocher's men and they haven't said anything about new men.”
Bakura stepped back from the woman. “Have any of Rocher's men mentioned Marik?”
“No. Nobody has mentioned him. Had I known he was in trouble, I would have pursued him.”
“Jacks said you mentioned the car went east.”
Eagle Eye grinned and sat on the edge of the bed. Her hand went to her right breast and she started touching it. “Maybe.”
Bakura crossed his arms. “I'm serious. Did the car go east?”
“Yes, it did.”
“Good girl. All of the government buildings are located south in the Center City. Why would the car go east…..towards the docks?”
Eagle Eye shrugged. “I don't know, sexy.”
Bakura grinned and approached Eagle Eye. “You're such an observant girl!”
“I try to please.”
Bakura leaned down and kissed Eagle Eye on the cheek. “Buy yourself something nice,” he said as he slipped her a five dollar bill.
Eagle Eye stood up and planted a heavy kiss on Bakura's lips. The yami broke the kiss first.
“Thank you, sexy.”
Bakura gave her ass a hard slap and a grin. “Good girl.”
Bakura turned and left the room. Downstairs was a tall man with the rest of the ladies. Jewel met Bakura at the bottom of the steps. “One of Rocher's goons is here.”
Bakura narrowed his eyes and growled. “Where is he?”
“The room there. He wants a lady friend for the night.”
Bakura bit his lip. `I have to get information out of this thug. He might have some information about Marik, but I don't want to risk the lives of the girls here.'
“Jewel, is anyone in room four?”
Jewel's eyes widened. “No, why?!”
“Send him up to room four. Tell him that a hot little vixen is waiting for him and that I'm new.”
“What are you--?”
“Do it!” Bakura darted up the stairs and ran into room four.
The room was vacant of people. One bed was in the room. The windows were covered with lacy curtains. A red light was glowing by the window. Bakura ran to a closet and saw a room with dresses and S&M equipment.
Bakura hurriedly pulled a dress over his clothes and pulled off his own pants. He looked down at himself, grateful that he had recently shaved. Bakura pulled the covers over himself to hide his lack of breasts.
He placed his dagger under the pillow as he heard footsteps approaching the door. Bakura grinned as the door opened and the man walked in. “Close the door behind you, sexy,” he said, disguising his voice.
The man closed the door and grinned. “You look hot….like Jewel said.”
Bakura grinned. “Let's get this thing started, naughty boy. Take off your clothes.”
“I paid. I wanna see you naked first.”
Bakura giggled. “I'll make it worth your while.”
The man removed his suit jacket and removed his belt. “Stand up.”
Bakura stood up, amazed the dress didn't fall down. `Thank Ra for straps,' he thought.
The man approached Bakura and grabbed his hair. “You like to fuck, little lady?”
Bakura moaned. “Oh yeah, baby, you know I wanna fuck hard.”
“You're my little bitch and what I say goes!” the man growled, kissing Bakura heatedly.
The man pulled Bakura close with one hand and removed his belt with the other. The man shoved Bakura back on the bed and pulled down his pants, revealing his genitalia.
“Suck it.”
Bakura grinned. “Lock the door. I don't want anyone walking in.”
“I don't give a shit if anyone walks in. I hope they see me fucking you hard.”
Bakura brushed his hair behind his shoulder. “Jewel's orders. It's in case we're raided. You don't want to be arrested by cops for paying for prostitution.”
The man reluctantly returned to the door and locked it. He turned and saw Bakura standing behind him.
“It's time to play.”
Bakura grabbed the man and threw him onto the bed. Bakura jumped on top of the man and held him down by his wrist.
“Your place is below me!”
Bakura tightened his grip on the man. “I don't think so, buddy!”
The man's eyes widened at the sudden drop in the “lady's” voice. “You're a man!”
Bakura glared down at the man. “If this is how you treated me, I hate to see how you treat my girls.”
“Those sluts downstairs?!”
Bakura punched the man in the nose, breaking it. “Those girls are not sluts….and if you speak to them again in such a manner, you won't be able to speak again. Unless, you tell me what I need to know.”
The man growled at him. “I'm not telling you anything!”
“You work for Rocher?”
The man spit in Bakura's face. “Fuck you!”
Bakura narrowed his eyes and twisted the man's wrist, hearing it snap. The man screamed loudly, arching his back in pain.
“You work for Rocher?”
“Yes! Yes!”
Bakura leaned closer to the man. “Do your men have Marik Ishtar?”
The man shook his head. “No, we don't!”
Bakura began to crush the man's other hand. “You're lying to me! Do you have Marik?”
The man screamed and tried to buck Bakura off of him. The yami inhaled deeply, the scent of the man's blood wafting up through his broken nose and broken wrist. Bakura could feel himself becoming aroused through the dress. For the first time, the man could feel Bakura's arousal brushing up against his own.
“We don't have him!”
“Your men fucking tried to kill me! As you can see, you failed.” Bakura grabbed the man's throat and began to squeeze. “I'll fucking kill you myself if you don't tell me where Marik is!” Bakura's hair spiked and his eyes glowed red.
The man gasped for breath and tried to grab Bakura, but his broken wrist prevented any retaliation.
“Talk! Where is he?!” Bakura demanded, crushing the man's throat slowly.
The man's face turned pale as he struggled for air. “Don't….know….”
The blood streamed more from the man's face.
The man found a new burst of energy and tried to buck Bakura off of him. The yami clenched his legs around the man's sides and moaned. “You're doing more harm than good,” Bakura grinned, licking his lips.
The man clenched his eyes shut as his struggle for air weakened him. The scent of blood and approaching death was increasing.
The man's eyes widened as his windpipe was finally clenched shut. Bakura watched the man's struggle finally stop. His mouth opened and his eyes opened wide. Bakura could feel the man's heart slowly stop as Bakura thrust his hips against the man's.
The yami looked deep into the eyes of the dead man and moaned loudly.
Bakura removed his trembling hand from the dead body. The dead man's arousal was limp as his legs were spread.
The yami narrowed his eyes. The blood began dripping on the bed linens. Bakura grinned.
“That will teach him for treating my ladies' like common whores.”
He touched the Millennium Ring around his neck and closed his eyes. The purple mist entered the room from the closet and from a dark portal stepped out Dark Necrofear.
“My King.”
“Take care of this. I bet my Man-Eater Bug is hungry.”
Bakura removed the dress as his monster dragged the body into the portal. He saw Dark Necrofear watching him remove the dress.
“Why are you wearing a dress, my King?”
Bakura grinned. “I'm willing to go to any lengths to get what I want.”
Bakura smiled, licking his lips as the scent of blood and death lingered around him. “I have other business to attend to.”
“Yes, my master,” Dark Necrofear said as she disappeared into the portal.
The portal disappeared behind her.
Bakura pulled his pants on and crossed his arms in thought. Blood and death was his aphrodisiac. Killing was a thrill….and a turn-on. Ryou would highly object to his methods, but desperate times call for desperate measures.
Bakura stepped out of the room and down the stairs, pulling up his zipper.
Jewel waited at the bottom of the steps. “Did he talk?”
Bakura grinned. “He got what he deserved. He won't be coming down, so don't bother looking for him.”
Jewel nodded. “Is the room decent?”
“Just a little blood on the sheets. Sorry about the mess.”
“Don't worry about it. I'll take care of it.”
“Has he been here before?”
Jewel nodded. “Lacey was out of commission for a while after he came in the first time.”
“He won't be bothering you anymore. I taught him a lesson his soul will never forget.”
Jewel smiled and nodded. “Thank you.”
Bakura grinned and kissed Jewel on the lips. “Thank you, beautiful. See you later.”
Bakura walked out of the home and looked towards the east. He began walking towards the docks to the east.
`Why would the car head east if the government buildings are to the south? Rocher's place is to the northeast. Rocher's place is near the docks, but more to the north.
What if that bastard was trying to lead me astray? What if Rocher really does have Marik and his goon was trying to protect his boss?'
Bakura narrowed his eyes as he continued to walk. `Wherever Marik is, he better be safe.'
The yami continued towards the docks and saw the dock in the distance. Aria's home was nearby. If he was in trouble, Aria was nearby and so was Mokuba's home.
He didn't want either of them involved if someone was pursuing him.
Many buildings lined the docks. Bakura sighed as an old saying popped into his head.
`Looking for Ishtar is like looking for a needle in a haystack.'
The yami looked around for anyone wandering the streets. He had hoped that he would see one of his lackeys wandering, but to no luck.
Bakura took a deep breath. “The docks are where I have to search.”
