Yu-Gi-Oh! Fan Fiction ❯ Save the Last Dance For Me ❯ Care to Dance with Me? ( Chapter 2 )
[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]
RavenFyre: Man, a lot of you people must've seen `Save the last Dance' too
Seto: It wasn't that interesting of a movie
Rajah: Are you kidding that's like my favorite movie
R & R: (Talking about the movie like geeks)
Yami: (walks in) Did I miss anything
Seto: Nope. Nothing out of the ordinary
RavenFyre: Well, Anyway. I am basing the story off of the movie, but how the characters act to one another and how Seto helps out Yamis tragedy, and blah blah blah. Is all different.
Rajah: You're taking all the good stuff out!
RavenFyre: No! I'm just using the idea an interpreting it into my own
Seto: You must have done a bad job. Seeing as you upped the rating and all
RavenFyre: Yeah, Yeah. I got a little carried away with the cursing, but these people are in high school… in NEW YORK CITY!
Yami: Hmph. As long as Seto and me get a happy ending everything is all fine
RavenFyre: That's my decision
Seto: Shes bluffing. Otherwise she wouldn't of rated this a romance story
RavenFyre: I don't own yu-Gi-Oh! But I do own the fate of this story, and because of Setos fat mouth i think this story might get a `Change of direction.'
Rajah and Yami: (Jump on Seto and start beating him up)
RavenFyre: Just kidding!
Care to dance?
“Joey? Why did you ask me to meet you out here?” I asked my new friend as I walked through the exit. “Hold up Yami,” Joey grabbed my arm and pulled me to the side. “We're waitin' for a friend of mine. Now, when my friends come talkin' to ya, you're gonna have ta act all cool. Ya know. Say something like um… `I'll dance circles around ya!' something like that, kay?” Joey looked behind me and whistled loudly. I wanted to turn around myself but Joey held me in that one spot. “Stay `ere,” Joey walked around me, and I stayed in that spot. But he didn't say anything about looking at where he was going…
I turned around and I was watching Joey walk towards the crowd, but then I heard someone scream for help. I didn't want to stay there, knowing that someone was in trouble, so I had to leave my spot and look. I searched around for the need in help, but I didn't see anyone till I looked behind a dumpster and saw a very scary looking guy. This guy had sandy blonde hair and was cornering a young girl.
“Listen here, Bitch. Either give me my money or I'll slice your hands off, and you'll never even get to feel the green of money again.” He took out a knife and held it up to a crying defenseless woman. “Hey! Stop it!” I shouted at the man and the two stared at me. The guy leaned off of the woman and turned towards me. The woman ran away in my direction and I tried to run away after her but the man wasn't finished with me yet. He grabbed my wrist harshly and pushed me up towards the dumpster, “Why you… Don't you dare say a word about this to no one. You ain't seen nothin' so you won't say nothin'. Got it!” He turned me around and stared at me angrily with his purple eyes. I shook as he kept staring at me. He showed me his knife again and made it look like he was going to cut my head off right there.
“Yami! Where are ya, bud?” I heard Joeys voice from afar and tried to scream for him but the man covered my mouth with his dirty hand. “Not a damn word, Bitch!” He held up his knife and quickly drove it into the dumpster wall near my head. He ran away quickly, and I was left shaking like a rabbit near the dumpster.
“Come on Joey, This isn't cool.”
“Keep ya pants on `kura,” Joey's voice came again.
“Yeah, I don't think I want to lose my eyesight this early,” Then Setos voice came.
As my mind came back out of its shock, my brain started thinking…
That guy just totally pushed me around. He called me a bitch like I was his property…
Maybe I have to start acting like Joey in order to not get pushed around. Nobody pushes Joey around? If I acted like him, wouldn't I be left alone or not cursed out like that ass hole did?
I slowly walked away from the Dumpster as I thought of how I could act like Joey.
“Ah, Dhere you are Yami. Where've you've been? I thought I said to wait `ere.” Joey asked as I stared at Bakura and Seto, once again. “I just wanted to look around real quick, is that a problem?” Everyone stared at me weirdly as my tone of voice seemed a little meaner. Maybe I was a bit much? “Ooookay, what do you want, bro? I've gotta do some things this afternoon before going dancin' tonight,” Seto put his hands in his pockets, acting unfazed by me, and asked Joey. “I don't need anything, but Yami needs a pass to go clubbing wid us tonight. Bakura, you know what to do,” Joey smirked and looked at Setos white haired friend. “Whoa, whoa, Whoa. That? Going clubbing with us? You're kidding right? If you think his looks could get him in, I've got one word for you… No,” he pointed at me. “You know. You talk a lot of shit for someone who doesn't even say a word to you,” I said in a tone much like joeys, but not the accent. All three of them stared at me like I just bought a new car and was about to run them over with it. Seto seemed to be amazed by me and began smiling, “Can you even dance at all?” “I bet I can dance so many circles around you, you`ll be too dizzy to even think,” I thought I was making a tough impression, but Seto just chuckled at me and said, “I'll hold you to that bet… Bakura, Get the kid his id.” “What! You're joking right? Just because your brother's got a new friend and you want him to join. Aw man, you smoking too much crack… I'll do it for… 25 dollas!” Bakura eyed Seto mischievously, like he knew something. Seto quickly held up a few dollars in front of Bakura's face, “Will 50 dollars cover it?” Bakura stared at me then he slowly took the money from Seto. “All right. All Right! You got yourself a deal!” Bakura growled at Seto, who smirked back at him. Seto then asked Joey something about `Mokuba' but I was still watching Bakura throw his fit. He was strangely amusing to me.
Joey and me left the two there as we started our walk home because I now realize that busses must have not been invented yet.
Actually, Joey said that the school is so freakin' poor that busses are just a dream. We talked all the way to Joey's house, and before we said good-bye he told me to meet him tonight at around 8, and told me how to get to his house from where I lived. I waved a friendly good bye to him and made my way home. Well… I guess I can start the countdown to my embarrassment when I would see Seto later tonight.
Basketball game
Normal P.O.V.
“Pass it `ere, Seto.”
“Some one cover him!”
“Watch out, kiddies!” Seto said as he dribbled pass all of his friends and slammed dunk the old basketball hoop. “Losers!” Seto laughed friendly and made an L with his thumb and finger on his forehead, as he slapped hands with his free one. Everyone made jokes at Seto, and were just being good friends back to him.
Marik suddenly walked onto the court, and everyone became quiet. Seto gulped as Marik made his way towards him, and had a grin on his face, “Ah, I see the Kaiba hasn't lost his touch in Basketball. Now lets see if you still haven't forgotten how to use a gun,” Marik took out a medium sized hand sized shooter and put it in Setos hands. Seto quickly dangled it by the handle and had a disgusted look on his face, “Marik, please no. I know I was your best shooter then but I gave that up a long time ago.” Seto stared at Marik pleadingly, but Marik ignored it. “Come on, Kobra Kaiba (Setos infamous shooting name when he was well feared by the other gang) Show these losers what it's like to shoot a real gun. I trust ya teaching these damn ass holes a thing or two.” Marik grabbed one of his gang members and ordered the others to hold him straight. “Shoot him, Kaiba.” Marik grabbed Setos shoulders and whispered to him. “wha- Marik you're crazy!” Seto shouted at him with fear with a little bit of anger stirred in. “That boy ain't no more use to me. Just shoot him, and say I did it,” Marik whispered in his Setos ear. Seto wanted to ignore him and pretend that he never even heard Mariks order. The man that seto was ordered to shoot was trying to get away, but Marik had the guys in so much fear that they could probably keep an elephant still. Seto looked at Marik and was about to reason with him, but his eyes went wide and he suddenly pushed Marik down, “EVERYONE DOWN! NOW!” A car that was slowly passing by suddenly had guns pointing out of the windows towards the group. The guns in the car shot first fire, creating a calamity to the people on the streets. Marik pushed Seto away and took the gun out of Setos hands, “Sissy!” Marik returned fire as the car quickly drove away.
When the shooting seized and everyone was quiet, Seto stared up at Marik in shock, and then looked around the court, “Everyone all right?” He asked. There were a few groans of pain and grunts as the guys moved around, showing that no one was hurt. Seto sighed in relief as no one was killed or seriously injured. Marik looked back at his gang and spat at the ground to them, then walked off muttering curses. “It's just one thing after another,” Bakura got next to Seto rubbing the back of his head. Seto looked at his hand that had the gun in it, and thought Longley at it. `I could've at least shot one little bullet back. The left front tire on that car looked worn out, a single bullet could've stopped that tire completely,' Seto thought as he clenched his hand tightly but still kept that same face. “Hey? You okay?” A few of the other Gang members, that didn't run off, walked up to Seto and asked him worriedly. “Yeah… Anybody hurt?” Seto asked not once looking up from his hand. “Nah… Marik ran away though. Your boy took ya gun too,” Seto smiled and shook his head. All of his comrades stared at him strangely. “Good. Lets all leave. We've got no more business here, anymore,” Seto turned away and left without looking back. Everyone did as Seto said and grabbed their things.
`Why? … Why couldn't I just make one little shot back?' Seto thought as he put his hands in his pockets. `Is there something on my mind other than just… My future?' Seto stopped at a bus stop and sat down. He took out his wallet and checked to see if he had any of Mariks money on him.
Seto pulled out a large wad of 50 bills. “Yep, still got money,” Seto said in a sigh as he stuffed it in his pocket. “hey…” Seto looked up and saw Bakura standing in front of him. “Whats the matter?” Seto said as Bakura pointed at the next to him. Seto nodded. “Whats with billionaire check in cold cash?” Bakura asked. “I don't know,” Seto answered and looked away from Bakura, trying to get off the subject. “I think ya do know. You just ain't got the heart to tell your boys…” Bakura turned to him and tied to get Seto to talk, but Seto didn't say a word. “All right… Not going to say how you got it, but What you going to do with it? You've been trippin' on that acceptance letter for yer docta college.”
`I'm waiting…' Seto thought as a city bus slowed to a stop in front of them.
He stood up and looked at Bakura, “I'm going to `Steppes' tonigh'. Gotta get some threads, You comin'?” Seto asked Bakura as he grabbed the bus rail and got some change out. “You bet!” Bakura laughed as he pulled out a dollar and gave it to Seto, “I'll pay the trip.” Seto smiled and gave Bakura a friendly push.
`I've been waiting for my letter…. My future is riding on that letter,' Seto thought as he and Bakura sat down at a seat and talked about Marik and how much of an asshole he was. Seto said very little but Bakura wouldn't keep quiet.
At the Kaibas Apartment about 20 minutes before the two friends went clubbing
Knock knock
“Comin'!” Joey buttoned up his silk shirt and opened the door to his apartment. “Hey, boy… Wanna come in?” Joey asked sexy like, all ready in the mood to find somebody to dance with. Yami wore an overly large warm fur colar trench coat, and he held himself tightly. Like he was hiding something… Yami nodded his head and stepped inside. Joey smiled and gave him a friendly push, “You all right?” “Yeah, just a little nervous…” Yami bowed his head like he was in trouble and Joey was his mother. “Well, I'm just gonna grab my coat and… we can get going. Stay here,” Joey put a bottle of milk down on a near by stool and went to a closet. Yami looked around the living room, and smiled at all the family photos that were around.
`Yamis' sure been actin differently since we met up after school… I wonda what happened?' Joey grabbed his coat and walked towards the hallway. “Cool outfit,” Yami made a comment at Joey. Joey slowly turned around at him and corrected him, “Slammin. Slammin' outfit.” Joey turned back towards the hallway and was about to shout something but Yami interrupted “hey, do I look all right?” Yami asked Joey as he opened his trench. Joey looked at his friend up and down and tried to think of a nice thing to say at his friends' geek-appearance. Yami had a lose orange-reddish shirt on with a same color light see through jacket with also a short tight black shorts on that went to almost his knees. Yami also had on black boots with a small tall heel at the back. “Uh… Yeah?” Joey said as he put a pair of silver dragonhead earrings in his ear.
(A/N: I'm not very good with clothes. So please, don't burn me if you don't get what I'm saying or if it too hard to picture or if you just hate my pick of clothes. I hate shopping for clothes. Dot, slash, Period. End of Story! But I'm TRYING to like it. So anyway, Lets continue.)
“Momma Dean? I'm leaving wid my friend. I'll be back around mid night or maybe earlier.” Joey shouted down the hallway as he brushed of his shirt. An old woman shuffled down the hallway with a young baby in her arms. Yami's eyes widened as he saw the little boy but brightened at him when the boy looked back at him. “What'd you say, Joe'?” The old woman asked in a kind voice “I'm goin' with my friend. I'll be back later tonight. Oh yeah, Momma dis is Yami. Yami dis is Momma, A.K.A Momma Dean,” Yami smiled as the little kid reached for him with his hand. Yami took the kids hand into his and shook it slowly, “and this handsome boy is Mokuba.” Joey introduced his friend with Mokuba. “Now, Don't get him all riled up. I'm gonna catch my sleep tonight.” Yami let go of Mokuba's little hand as Momma Dean made her way towards down the hall. Momma Dean made a slight turn to Yami and said softly, “It was very nice to meet you.” “Thanks,” Yami whispered as Joey sat the bottle he had earlier in a small fridge near the door to the Kitchen. Joey went to the door and opened it, “Lets go.” “Is- Is Mokuba yours?” Yami asked as he made his way to the door. “He sure ain't momma dean's,” Joey smiled at Yami as he led him out. “Come on, `Steppes' is waitin for us,” Joey eyed Yami strangely as Yami walked out. `I stand corrected… REALLY strange,' Joey thought.
On the way to Steppes
“here is your i.d.” Joey passed a white card at Yami, while they walked down the street. Yami was not pleased by the card, “Wait! This isn't” joey stopped and face Yami, “Now, don't be complainin if you don't like your i.d. `kura's job was to gets you in, and he did. Besides, don't you want to dizzy my brotha. He should be there by now.” `If only he knew…' Yami thought.
“Come on,” Joey grabbed Yamis' arm and tried to lead him, but Yami pulled back and asked Joey again if he looked all right. Joey looked him up and down again and couldn't keep himself from lying to him. Joey looked around and saw a few of his other friends getting out of a car, “Hey, Christian. Let me borrow yer car.” “Why?” The kid Joey was talking to get out his car keys and passed them to Joey. “I just want to sit in it for a moment,” Joey opened the door and pointed inside for Yami. “Get in,” Joey said. “But, I thought-” Yami walked slowly to the door not understanding what was going on. “Come on, Lets go. lets go!” Joey pushed Yami inside and got in with him. “Now. Take off that fifth grade teachers pet getup,” Yami started to take off his coat and looked himself up and down. “But, it's from the gap.” Yami protested. “It's country, and you look country in it. We're going to a Hip hop club, not to a country hoedown,” Yami put the card in his mouth as he began taking off his small see through jacket. “Here, put my earrings on,” Joey easily took them off and passed them to Yami.
Yami passed his jack to Joey, who had no clue with what to do with it, “What am I going to do with this?” Yami was putting on the earrings and straightening his clothes when Joey suddenly got an idea. “Come here, Come here, I gotta an idea,” a few moments later. Joey stepped out with a hot looking boy named Yami. “Thanks,” Joey said as he gave Christian the keys back. Christian whistled at Yamis' change of appearance. Yami blushed back at him and followed Joey. “Don't worry about him. He's all ready got a boyfriend. He's just letting you feel welcomed,” Joey said as he pushed Yami into the line.
`Maybe Seto will forget about the bet if I look too good for him,' Yami thought with a sweatdrop.
At `Steppes'….
“Hey! You got a pocket for some cash!” Joey shouted over the blaring lights and loud music. Yami, who had a huge makeover and was catching a lot of attention by both boys and the few girls that were there, took the money out of his friends' hand and stuffed it into his pocket, “Yeah.” Joey and Yami both stayed next to each other as they both made their way towards the bar. Joey and Yami were about to go down some steps when suddenly a guy grabbed Joey's behind and made sound of `Approval' to Joey. Joey spun around quickly and glared at a man who was staring at Joeys crotch and was licking his lips. Joey marched up to the man and grabbed the mans crotch harshly. “Ahh, You got it! You Got it!” He yelled in agony as Joey kept applying pressure to his crotch, in a not so friendly way. “Got What?” Joey asked in anger and in complete disgust. “you got my—you got it!” The man was in pure agony, and Yami was watching. “Got what? The right to walk past with out your greasy, dick-tickle self hand on my ass?” Joey still had his hand on the guy, and still had a menacing glare on him. “Yeah, yeah, You got it. You got it,” The guy was in a panic and his face started to form beads of sweat. “That how I got?” Joey asked again, getting his point in again. Joey let go of the man and still had a glare on him, “That's how I thought I had it… Come on Yami.” Yami followed Joey and had an amazed look and impression on Joey.
Joey thought that the Bar seemed too crowded so he led Yami to another stairway. “Lets get to our seat before I've gotta hurt somebody… Again,” Joey shouted to Yami. “What? Are you V.I.P or something?” Yami followed Joey to the top of the steps. Joey waved off to a familiar white haired D.J. on the stage. “Nah, Bakura always hooks me up on nights when he spins,” Joey smiled as Bakura noticed him and waved back as he did a cool move setting a new record on the D.J. stand.
Joey and Yami stopped at a round about couch in the corner of the upstairs. A group of guys were sitting around a trio of Women. “Hey, guys. Tristain Yami. Yami Tristain.” Joey slapped hands with a brown-eyed brunette, who waved at Yami. Joey sat down at a seat and made room for Yami. Yami happily sat down next to a teal eyed and teal haired guy, as Joey continued introducing the others, “Yami. That's Exavier, Rune, Malik and you all ready know Ryou,” Joey introduced the boys who all winked, waved, smiled, Etc. back. (The boys aren't going to be introduced again so I'm not going to get into detail with these guys appearance or relationship to characters.) You get the point, Yami was warmly welcomed by all the sitting guys… But what about the girls?
“You like this place?” the boy next to him, Rune, asked as he took a sip of his drink. “I absolutely love it here. This place is cool!” Yami answered, seeing as everyone was looking at him. One of the Women, who is like a goddess to the other two, got up and picked up an ashtray and glared at Rune, “What is up with this place? People be letting in just about every gay fag around here.” All the boys grunted at the Blue-eyed Brunette womans own answer. “And they started with you,” Joey said in disapproval of the woman. The woman laid back and did a sarcastic smirk at Joey then made a straight mean face at Yami, “I'm Tea. That's Mai and that's Serenity.” Tea pointed at the two girls, one on each side as she took a puff of her cigarette. “Hope you know how to dance cause the dip shits around here ain't worth a dime of dancing,” Tea said in an angered tone. “Quit it, Tea!” Joey glared at her menacingly. “What? I ain't gonna walk on eggshells just because you brought the gay fags of the Brady bunch brothers to this gay ass club.” Tea was definitely not making a good impression on Yami. “Maybe you're in the wrong place then because I'm pretty sure they're aren't any `Gay Fags' in here all except but you,” Yami said in a gangster tone like Joey. All the other boys snickered and Joey smirked at Yamis comment. “Doh!” Joey held back a laugh as he held his finger up to his mouth. The boys laughed and made their own way to the dance floor after slapping hands with Yami. Tea was not impressed.
“I'm sure YOU came with one,” Tea said as she took another puff of her cigarette. “Oh no, whench. You did not just call me a fag!” Joey stood up quickly. Ryou stood up too, “Hey, why don't you both chill. Kay?” Ryou said as he pushed Joey back a ways from the not intimidated at all Tea. “Why don't you tell him to chill? He's always the one that's got something to say to me.” Tea answered still not fazed. “I can say a lot more. Keep talking and I will lay your fat punked up ass on the street broken like the bitch that you are,” Joey almost wanted to beat the shit out of Tea and get the whole thing over with. Tea kept a challenging gaze at Joey as she stood up slowly, and walked away without a word. Tea's friends left closely behind her.
“Man, why'd you got to burn her like that?” Ryou turned to Joey. “Cause I can't stand her ass, and the way she played my brother. She hurt my bro's feelings… I'm just returning the favor for him,” Yami quirked an eyebrow at Joey's answer. “Lets get somethin' to drink. I need ta cool off, Yami,” Joey received a pat on the back by Ryou, who patted him back. Yami nodded to Joey but wanted to ask Ryou something, “Are you and Bakura brothers?” Ryou laughed kindly and replied, “nah, I'm was in with Seto's gang a long time ago, and that's how me and Bakura got hooked up. He asked me out on that first day. Can I go with you two?” “Sure,” Yami laughed friendly to Ryou. And the three walk towards the bar.
At that same time, a certain two walked through the doors…
Seto and Marik both walked in side by side. Marik licked his lips at a waitress that walked by in a playboy get up. Marik was wearing his usual clothing (Because He's too dangerous to go out in public.) while Seto was dressed in tight leather that gave him a very sexy look. Marik patted Seto's chest and pointed to a table at the upstairs. Seto shook his head in no as he noticed that Marik's original gang members sat at the table Marik pointed at.
(Mariks gang guys don't like Seto at all, and are truly bloodthirsty killers. So Seto doesn't like them either.)
Marik nodded his head at Seto, “Have your fun, Kaiba.” Seto hated it how Marik called him that; it was like Marik was trying to call him `Kobra Kaiba' again. Seto walked into his own direction in search for a Tri-colored haired guy that has a bet to hold up with him.
“Hey,” A woman said to Seto with an impressed look on him. Seto smirked and made a small whistle at her as the two continued walking away from each other.
Seto walked past a small empty bar (Meant for like a `Meet you at the lost bar' or `see ya at the bar to meet up' You know. A place for friends to meet up.) But two arms that wrapped around his waist stopped him. “Hey Baby, Lets dance?” Tea's voice was haughty as she asked Seto. Seto turned around with a disgusted look on his face, “Lets not.” “Come on baby… Is that how its gonna be?” Tea asked as she held her hands up to Setos face, and rubbed her crotch against Setos'. Seto was not in the least bit turned on. “How'd you think it was going to be? That you would drop me off after you're done with me then pick me up whenever the hell you felt like it?” Seto Pushed Tea's hands off his face and pushed back a little. “I miss you,” Tea said in a whisper. “Does this have anything to do with that guy in the Northwestern Dismissin' you?” Seto smirked as he emphasized Dimissed. “Ain't nobody dissed or dismissed me, Kaiba, I laid him off.” Tea said in a more normal tone. “You laid me? And then you laid with some drunk bastard that lives in the streets that you `Laid off'?” Seto said a review of the conversation, but with sarcasm. Tea remained quiet. “Now all you gotta do is find someone to dance with, and you'll be one step closer to hell,” Seto walked away from Tea triumphantly.
(A/N: Damn. Tea got burned!
Seto: (Burning up a Tea Voodoo Doll) FIRE!
A/N: Oooooookkkkaaayy
Seto: DIE BITCH DIE! MMMWWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!)
Seto looked and looked but still didn't see Yami. He walked down some steps thinking that he should get a quick drink or ask someone if they seen Yami. “Hey, What's up Seto? Or should I say Slick? Damn, you look like you're ready to take a whore or two home with ya,” A guy from Seto's part of the gang laughed and held a hand up to him. “Not much. You seen my bro?” Seto asked. “Yeah, he and some real hot guy was walkin with him to the bar,” the guy replied and held his drink up to Seto. “Take care,” Seto said as a new song started, and he made his way to the bar with a sly smirk on his face. Seto noticed Bakura getting out a special silver record and did a wave at him. Bakura waved back at Seto, and he began playing a usual song that meant that Seto was in the building. `Murder she wrote' began playing.
Seto continued his way to the bar, but couldn't see Yami. “Rum and Coke, Straight up, and a beer… anything I guess,” It wasn't until he heard Yami's friendly voice from a Red-orange slim looking hotty near the bartender.
`Damn… I see my Brother's still passing Designer class. I never thought I'd see Yami looking so hot and so fit in less then about 5 hours… Where'd the hell did that come from? Oh well, Time for a little challenge,' Seto made his way forward to where his game would begin.
Back to the three, before Seto found Yami ALONE at the bar.
“Hey!” Joey tried to grab the Bartenders attention, but it must've been a busy night. A stranger came up from behind Ryou and asked Ryou to dance. “I've all ready got a boyfriend if that's okay,” he asked the guy curiously. “Sure, as long as he won't break my ass over ya.” Ryou tapped Yami and told Yami what drink he wanted and left to the dance floor with a partner. Yami nodded and sat next to Joey. Joey looked back at the dancing crowd with a smile, but then changed to shock. “Oh my god…” Joey turned around quickly. “What?” Yami asked in curiosity. “Its Mokuba's father,” Joey restrained himself from looking behind him, but Yami couldn't help but look. “Yami! Don't look! Just. Don't. Look,” Joey said a little angrily. Yami faced forward but then looked away when a black haired green-eyed man wrapped his arms around Joey. Joey shoved the man back, “Quit it! Duke!”
Joey turned away from Duke in an displeased manner. Duke licked his lips at Joey, but Joey didn't even care. “Hey, how you doin'?” Duke asked, trying to get Joeys attention. Joey tapped his foot and stared at Duke, “Why don't you ask your son that? I haven't heard that line in quite a long time. Preferably ever since Mokuba was even born… Where were you last week?” “Come on Joey, I had to work that Sunday. I promise I'll take Mokuba this Friday. You'll have the weekend AND the week after off from Momma duty,” Duke got close to Joey again, but Joey glared at him, “I haven't seen the fruits of THAT labor,” Joey held back a smile for his sake but Duke was coming on to him. “Come on Joe, I know you want to dance with me. That is what you came here for… To yell at me and to dance with me,” Duke lead a smiling Joey towards the dance floor. “Rum and Coke. No ice!” Joey shouted to Yami as he left his friend alone.
A Beatty rhythm started from the D.J.
“Murder she Wrote?” Yami asked as he recognized the song and turned around. He looked around he crowd and saw all his friends dancing in a strange erotic way. `I wonder how they all dance like that?' Yam thought to himself.
Ryou was dancing with that guy, and Joey was dancing with Mokuba's Dad…
Yami bounced his head to the beat and turned around. He felt a little alone, but at least he was enjoying himself right?
`Wow… Some fun,' Yami thought to himself depressingly. His eyes went wide as his hands suddenly touched his necklace. `Mom…'
Short Flahback…
Yami was practicing in a beautiful living room in his usual clothing. Yugi was watching his brother in admiration. “Yami? I didn't interrupt did I?” a beautiful black haired woman with red crimson eyes much like yamis came into the living room with a small blue box in her hands. Yami stopped and dusted himself off, “No, Mother. I was just practicing. What's the box for? Is it for me?” Yami asked as his mother sat him down. Yugi giggled, as he knew what his mom was going to give his brother. Yami closed his eyes as his mother instructed with her hands. Yamis mom opened the box and got out a lovely silver necklace and placed it on Yamis neck, “Its for love. Not luck.” Yami opened his eyes and held his hand to the necklace and stared at it with a smile on his face. “Mom,” Yami started but was cut off by his mom. “You don't need luck cause you dance like an angel,” Yami was pulled into a hug by his mom and even his brother joined in the hug. “You two are the best luck I'll ever need,” Yami said as he hugged both of them back.
(A/N: I know one of you guys/Girls out there might ask me but I'll say it now. Yugi was about 2 before he died in the crash, so that's why he didn't say anything and acts childish… well, more childish than usual.)
……..End Flashback……
“Hey, What would you like to drink?” the Bartender asked Yami. Yami snapped out of his daze and looked at the Bartender, “Um, yeah. A rum and coke, straight up and a beer… anything.” The bartender nodded and went for the refreshments. “That's a bad choice you know… Anything.” Yami turned to his right and looked into the familiar eyes of Joey's brother who was staring back and waiting for his reply to him. Yami huffed and said “Whatever.” Seto made a short chuckle at him and decided to start the bet, “What's that mean? `Whatever?'” “Whatever you want it to be,” Yami said without looking at Seto, deciding that he should do the same as he saw Joey with Duke. “If you're going to buy a beer. It should be the best beer, right? But I guess you wouldn't know that seeing as you've never drank before,” Seto waved a no thanks when another bartender came to him. Yami huffed another whatever at Seto again. “Tell me, what is this whatever?” Seto smirked knowing that he was getting pretty annoying to Yami, and Yami showed it well. “You're the genius right? You know everything,” Yami now looked at him. “Not everything,” Seto corrected him. “Like for instance, I don't know why we're still standing here. I'm supposed to be dizzy, remember?” Yami rolled his eyes at Seto. “With all those circles you danced around me… Am I ringing a bell here because I could've sworn there was a bell tower somewhere nearby,” Seto continued on. “Oh, I don't feel like dancing right now,” Yami lied. “But you know how to, Right?” Seto asked. “Would I be here if I didn't?” Yami was in this challenge mode, but he knew he would be beat. “Then lets go,” Seto gave Yamis arm a very light squeeze and tried to lead Yami to the dance floor. Yami stayed.
Seto noticed that Yami was still at that stool, and went back for him, “Come on.” He said lightly, and Yamis body let itself be pulled by Seto. Yami followed Seto onto the dance floor till Seto suddenly let go of him and danced close to him. Seto smirked as he noticed Yamis confused look. Seto did a spin around Yami, eyeing him like prey and showing off his fast legwork. Some dancers that knew Seto's famous dancing watched Seto work is magic again. Yami was still confused and tried to dance to the beat but his body couldn't catch the beat. Yamis legs were just flying all over the dance floor and his hands were close to his waist. Seto slowed down and danced behind Yami and tried to pull Yami close to him. Yami was worried and watched Seto grind into him from behind. Yami stepped away from Seto and tried dancing with him face to face. Seto felt sympathetic for dragging Yami into the spotlight without a single clue on how to dance…
`Lets help him,' Seto's body slowed down even more and danced with Yami face to face, and let Yami pick up the beat, “1, 2 3. 1, 2 3.” Seto whispered and used his free hand to give Yami a beat. Yami took a small break and listened to Seto's beat, and watched Seto's feet move in a small pattern. Yami tried the same footwork, and looked up at Seto. “Good. Cross, over. Cross, over. Cross, over.” Seto continued. Yami couldn't help but give a small laugh as Seto took his hands into his and danced with him. “Good. You got it- Ow, Shit!” Seto and Yami parted as their heads bonked painfully together. Seto stared at Yami in anger as he held his head. “Sorry. I'm sorry. Come on, I'm sorry.” Yami tried apologizing so hard that Seto found it… Cute.
Seto suddenly made a small laugh, “I've haven't had this much fun dancing in such a long time.” Yami stared at him like `what the hell?' Seto took Yamis' hands again and began dancing with him again. Yami was having so much fun, knowing that Seto enjoyed his company that he laughed along with Seto. The two continued dancing with one another, but a certain someone that was watching the two wasn't enjoying their fun.
“Look at him, Tea. He's all up in your nut,” Mai said to her friend as she sat down with a drink in her hand. Serenity looked at Seto and Yami, and just couldn't stop herself from commenting, “All up in your nut crackin' it. What's he doing? Two stepping?” Tea turned her head towards the two and scoffed at Yami, “Like I care. That Fag ain't got nothing on me, Shit…”
Another person upstairs wasn't taking the view well either…
“Where?” Marik was talking with one of his gang. He heard from his friend that a gang member from the rival gang was in his dance club and was dealing some money. Marik got off his seat and took a closer look to see a gang group downstairs near the dance floor. “That little…” Marik turned around and made his way to the steps. A few of his gang members tried to follow him, but Marik said he would take care of all of them. His gang all looked at each other strangely, but let their boss leave to his own troubles. They believed that Marik could fight by himself, but as long as Seto was around Marik was WELL protected by anything.
Back to the two dancers…
A new song started and all the boys in the Dance floor hollered loudly for Bakura to turn up the volume. Bakura did a little stunt for his admirers and push the Volume knob up to as high as it could go. Seto couldn't help himself, but to kick up his dancing skill up a notch and dance close to Yami again. Yami wasn't worried anymore as he was beginning to get used to how the people danced. As everyone else began dancing, Marik was pushing his way across the dance floor. Seto was having too much fun (and was secretly falling in love with Yami) to even notice Marik.
The Song continued, still in a lively beat, as Yami was letting Seto lead him to dance. Joey, Ryou, Duke, and even some other guys couldn't help but watch the two as they were still dancing with their own partners.
Marik eventually pushed through the crowds and walked in the middle of the circle of the gang. “Man, don't be smokin' in here!” Marik slapped away some money in a guy's hand. The guy stood up and got into Marik's face, “Man! What's your problem!” Marik quickly punched him harshly in the face and started beating up on him. Some other guys of the circle started beating on Marik. A woman or two screamed as they ran out of the commotion.
Seto was still dancing with Yami when the sudden scream from the women got his attention. “What?” Yami noticed Seto's strange change of attention. Seto had a feeling that on the other side of the dance floor, something was happening. Seto let go of Yamis hands and made his way across the dance floor where he could make out was a large group surrounding something.
“Marik!” Seto shouted when he saw that a group of some sort was hitting on his friend. Marik seemed unfazed by the others as he was beating up an unconscious man. Seto ran in a quickly grabbed a guy that was reaching for a knife in his pocket. Seto picked the guy up and smashed his head into a nearby table. The guy stayed down, but wasn't dead. Seto looked back at the pile up and got most of the guys' attention by throwing one of their comrades. Three guys went towards Seto with knives and guns out stretched. The music slowed down and nobody was dancing anymore. Seto clenched his fist, as he knew he was out numbered and out maneuvered, but that didn't mean he was out smarted. Seto used his foot and picked up a small round table. Seto quickly picked it up and tossed it to the three nimrods like it was a Frisbee. All three went down.
Yami and Joey met up within the crowd watching the commotion. Yami had a displeased look on his face, and Joey was just plain disgusted as they watched the carnage, but were glad that Seto was only knocking them out and not deliberately killing the guys… Marik was a different story, but the two weren't worried about him at all.
Seto ran to his friend and grabbed him, “Get off, Marik. He ain't worth it!” Marik was unusually easy to pull off. “Lets go!” Seto pushed Marik in front of him and followed him out towards the door. Marik suddenly stopped and quickly turned around. Seto predicted that this was going to happen and picked Marik up, “Come on man!”
Yami wanted to follow but Joey held him back, “We gotta get outta here! Don't worry about my bro we'll meet up with him.” Yami still watched Seto leave as Joey kept pulling him away from the commotion.
Outside…
Seto kicked the door open and sat Marik down. Marik quickly ran to a fence and climbed up it. Seto followed as well as Police sirens started making their way to the club. Seto and Marik ran towards the street as a Red sports car honked at them. Seto ran ahead of Marik and opened the door for him; Marik gave him a gangster hug and slapped a hand with him. “Go Marik!” Seto shouted. “Thanks man!” Marik jumped in the car quickly and Seto slammed the door.
Seto patted the car and watched it drive away, “Wait! I've gotta find my brotha! Seto!” and then ran towards Joey's voice.
“Seto!” Joey was shouting for his brother as people started pouring out of the place. “I'll catch you guys later! With all the cops and shit! I'm gone, Joey!” Ryou shouted as Bakura met up with him and let him away. “All right, Ryou. See ya! Seto!” Joey looked around for his brother, and Yami was following quietly behind. “Joey, don't make a scene will ya!” Seto came up to Joey and grabbed his coat from him. “Seto! Yo, What the hell is wrong with you!” Joey and Yami were pleased to see Seto again, but Joey expressed his in a strange way. Seto didn't answer but ran towards the street. Joey grabbed Yami hand and pulled him along side him and Seto, “Come on, we're goin' home.”
“I'm going to tell ya, like I've been telling you Seto. Let Marik get what he deserves, you're letting him play you, bro He's a scrub,” Joey said as the three walked down an empty street. “How about you scramble that CD Joey. I don't get into that stuff with Marik, I just pull him out of trouble.” Seto walked like he was a leader in front of the other two. “Look, I live about 5 blocks down that way, so I'm going. I'll see ya guys later,” Yami started to part away, but Seto caught his arm. “Nuh uh, not alone you ain't. I'll walk you home,” Seto said to him as he pulled Yami out of the empty road. “Why?” Yami asked. “Because there are too many idiots around here thinking that they thugs. Let Seto walk ya, at least you'll feel safe, Yami,” Joey replied as all three of them stopped and then stared at each other. “Well, then what about you?” Yami pointed at Joey. “We live just around the corner man,” Joey pointed down a four way. “All right, then I'll be home soon,” Seto, said as some snow started to fall on the ground. “All right, I'll tell momma,” Joey smiled then gave a look at Yami, “Saw that you was working it tonight.” “Yeah… Slammin',” Yami watched Joey wave at him. Joey couldn't help but laugh at Yami trying to be cool again, “Layta!”
Yami then turned to Seto, who had a friendly smile on his face. “Lets get going, Brave heart,” Seto nodded towards down the street and made his lead. Yami nodded back and followed him like a servant, but he had a lively smile on his face. At least Joey was right about one thing; Yami did feel safe around Seto.
Down the quiet street
The two were walking an endless road with an endless silence for so long that Seto felt like he had to say something. “Want to get together sometime? Work on your moves?” Seto broke the endless silence between the two. Yami stared at him strangely, and Seto looked back, “If you want.” “I'd love to…” Yami replied very excitingly. “I mean, if you wouldn't mind teaching me,” Yami blushed as he noticed Seto's strange look on him. “So… Did you like Steppes? After you got used to the music,” Seto felt interested in Yami for some reason. “It wasn't just the music I had to get used to, Seto. That's not the first time I've heard Hip hop,” Yami said with a smile on his face. Seto smiled back at Yami not believing a word he said, and also because he was one of the many few that called him by the name he actually preferred. “Yeah sure. I bet you listen to it all the time,” Seto laughed kindly, as he was being sarcastic, just in case Yami was one of those serious people that didn't like humor. Yami remained quiet but he showed that he enjoyed Seto's humor.
“I see my brother hasn't lost his touch in designer school. That boy can really do some good work on just about anybody,” Seto said as he brushed some snow out of his hair and eyes. “What's that supposed to mean?” Yami suddenly stopped. Seto turned around, “I meant that you've only been in New York for about what, a day or so and all ready you look like you fit in. Joey must've given you some pointers.” “Oh. I thought you were insulting me,” Yami continued walking. “I'm not trying to be mean Yami. In fact, I was complementing you and my bro,” Seto shook his head at Yami in an unbelieved manner. `I beginning to think that's not all that's changed with him either,' Seto thought, forgetting that he was actually WALKING Yami home, and Yami was leaving without him.
“Tell me, are we getting close to your home or are we going to have to stop for food and water?” Seto asked sarcastically as he couldn't remember if they passed 5 blocks or even 50 blocks. “We passed it,” Yami said as he looked around but saw nothing familiar. “You passed it,” Seto said as he watched Yami scramble around in one spot like a chicken in a coop. “Oh, here it is,” Yami sighed and walked to a near by gate and opened it. Seto followed.
Yami pushed a rickety old gate as closed it behind him but couldn't help to say at least something good to Seto, “Thanks for walking me home.” Seto couldn't help but be a smart ass again, “Was that thanks like `Gee whiz, I had a great time,' or was that more of the `I'll bust a cap in your ass if you ever darken my door step again.'” Yami looked at him strangely but replied quickly, “No, I would never bust a cap. In. your. Ass?” Seto had a straight face on but then suddenly formed a smile on his face. Yami was completely clueless about what he was saying. Seto felt like he had to stay with him longer, but his mind kept bothering him to just say good night and go home, “Just checkin'… So are you here, You're home?”
“Yes…” Yami started walking away towards his apartment but stopped and turned to Seto one last time, “Thanks for the dance.” Seto nodded his head at him, “Likewise. I'll see you at school.” Yami nodded and waved good bye to him. Seto stayed in that spot till he no longer could see Yami. Seto had a strange smile on his face as he left the apartment and started on his way home, for once not thinking about Marik or anyother problems in his life, just in his happy mood.
