Yami's P.O.V.

I walked up to the apartment with a smile on my face. I just couldn't get Seto out of my head… Come to think of it, I've never met a person like him either. Could it be just a friendship or is it something else I'm feeling?

Nah, I've just got some wishful thinking on my brain. I'd better get to bed soon, it's probably almost 12 o' clock.

I unlock the door and stepped inside the old run down apartment of mine. The lights were off and there was a glass of water at the counter in front of me. I didn't think it was for me so I left it there, I toss the keys in my hand onto a stand and made my way to my `bed', but I was startled when I saw my dad wake up in my `bed'. “Oh, I didn't see- didn't see you car outside,” I tried to excuse myself but he looked ticked at me. “Yeah, the night's full of surprises, isn't it? I had one myself when I got home from work… Where were you, Yami?” He stood up and walked towards me with his hands on his hips. His usual brown eyes now had dark thick circles under them and his musty beard was full of rats (No, not animal rats, just really bad knots in them). Some one sure had a good fight, tonight. “I-I was out with some friends,” I was still shy around him. “I hope you had a great time,” I could tell the sarcasm in his voice. “You know what, I did. In fact, I had the greatest time in my life,” I got a little defensive and walked around him to sit on the couch. “Well good, because you made me very worried about you,” He stood in front of me again. I stood up to him and was not pleased by his last line, “Oh now you're worried about me? Now that I'm old enough to think and take care of myself on my own. Perfect Timing, Dad. You know, you could've just waited till I was living on my own or raising a family, boy wouldn't our family reunions be fun.” He frowned at me and met my challenge, “Look, I just want you at home at a decent time. This is my home, and I pay the bills, so it is only fair that you follow my orders. Next time you want to run off with your street friends that's fine, but I want to know where you're going and when you'll be home…” I glared at him. “End of discussion!” He shouted at me. “Fine, End of discussion. Relax, will ya?” I put my hand up to him and walked to the refrigerator.

Nothing Else Happened That Night between me and Dad…

I went to school the next day, and was glad to see Seto and Joey waiting for me that morning. Joey was telling me all these cool things that I could learn from Seto. Obviously, everyone was dieing for me to fit in.

“When would you like to meet?” I asked Seto. “Unless something turns up today, then meet me at our house about an hour after school. If you got homework then we can do that before your lessons, we practically have the same boring classes.” Seto eyes stayed on me ever since I got to school. Is there something on his mind?

“(Whistle) Is that a turn on line or what? Kaiba, I thought you were a straight guy,” suddenly, that man that Seto saved last night showed up. “Shut up, Marik. I didn't get rid of Tea so I could date guys,” I suddenly saw a strange flicker in Setos eyes. His mood completely changed as soon as that Marik character showed up. When Marik got closer I suddenly gasped at him, as I recognized him from the dumpster incident. “You? I saw you earlier. I didn't know you charmed the older Kaiba?” Marik got closer to me, and I realized the quiet that was around me. I kept eye contact with him, as I truly didn't fear him anymore, but I stole a glance at Seto and Joey. Both of them were as quiet as ever. Seto was staring at the concrete and Joey was looking away. “What's the matter? Don't you know it's impolite to stare?” I flinched when a spit drop landed on my face, right under my eye.

I've got two words in my mind but am currently grossed out Beyond belief…

“No?” he continued to stare down on me. And I was beginning to think that this guy has never known a shower in his entire life. I stayed silent. He scoffed at me and walked around me. He stopped before he got to the door and looked at Seto, “You know him?” Seto nodded his head. Marik gave a shrug and walked through the doors. Seto looked back at me, “Sorry about my friend. I can tell that when you two last met it wasn't a good one.” “No, it was nothing. We just didn't get to know each other the last time,” I lied. I didn't want Seto to choose between me and his supposed `Friend' and me, if I told him that Marik threatened to kill me. Seto gave me a questioning glance. “What?” I couldn't help but wonder he gave me that look. “Nothing,” Seto gave Joey a small tap and scratched his head in attempt to point somewhere. “Huh?” Joey stared at Seto. Seto cleared his throat, and grabbed Joeys' arm, “Excuse us Yami.” I sighed and grabbed my stuff, and made my way inside.

Lets see why Seto moved away from Yami…

“Man, have you ever heard of manners or is this still the Stone Age?” Joey protested as Seto got him far away enough. “Very funny, Joey. Is it me or is Yami really… What's that word I'm lookin' for?” Seto crossed his arms over his chest, and thought his own thoughts as Joey watched Yami. “Weird?” Joey said bluntly. “I think he lied when he said about him and Marik. He's different when it's just me and him,” Seto stated. Joey gave Seto a grin. “What's with the Halloween costume tryout? October is next month,” Seto couldn't help but be a smart ass again, but curious as to why his brother was giving him that look. Joey gave him a snort and replied, “I'm sure you won't have to buy a costume for your Halloween. I heard `Smart asses' are pretty scary dis year, you know,” Joey gave Seto another grin. “Would you cut it out? Listen, We both like Yami, and it would be in our best interest to watch out for him. Like I said, I think Marik got to him in some way,” Seto continued. “Den what are you gonna do, hotshot?” Joey walked off, but nodded at his brother anyway. “Don't worry… I gotta an idea,” Seto took one last glance at Yami before leaving off to find his friend, Marik.

At Marik's Locker… Where Seto found Marik…

“Hey,” Seto joined in with Marik's conversation with some other guy. “One minute, Kaiba.” Marik held up a finger to Seto then told the guy that he was talking to, to meet him later. Seto was secretly tapping his foot for Marik impatiently as the two had a short chat, for he saw Yami down the hall wanting to talk to him. “What is it now, Kaiba?” Marik opened up his book bag and fidgeted with his cigarettes as Seto asked him. “You know that new kid from earlier?” Seto asked. “Yeah, and I see that you were flirting with him, watch ya back, man. Men like him are pickpockets. They'll take what you got,” Marik closed his locker but still kept eye contact with Seto. “That's not what I was asking, besides he's my brothers friend, it wouldn't look right to go out with a family friend. Anyway, did you scare the kid? If you did, could you lay off him, for me,” Seto asked and tried to go around him, to leave, but Marik caught his arm. Seto felt a quick shiver that ran through his entire body at his friend touch. “What's wrong Kaiba? You're not like yourself ever since that new boy showed up. If you're going gay on me, I'll-” Seto squirmed out of Marik's grip but forced a smirk on his face, “Don't worry, Man. I'm fine. I've just been a little down since Tea cheated on me for some whore money.” Marik gave him a strange look, “Get to class man, a man like you need some edumacation. Ya know, Later.” Marik gave him the peace sign and watched Seto leave.

(A/N: For Marik, Gay is the worst thing that could happen to a man. Seto made a smart move not saying that he does secretly like Yami. Otherwise, Marik might have threatened the both of them)

Seto made a wave at Yami, but Yami rolled his eyes at him and went inside the classroom without him. Seto made a curious look, but shrugged it off and went into the classroom too.

During Class

Mr. Willenberg was a nice fair man for a teacher. He actually had a good sense of humor for a biology teacher (A/N/: He was my favorite last year in Chemistry). Yami sat far away from Seto the whole class period, and Seto found that quite suspicious. Seto decided that he should talk to Yami before he would teach him to dance, Maybe After Class?

After Class Period

“Hey!” Seto shouted for Yami on the way out of the small doorway. Yami turned to him and waited for him at a near by water fountain. “What's wrong? You've been different since this morning?” Seto asked curiously. “Joey told me… I'm sorry I lied,” Yami scrambled his books around in his hands, it was too much for him to carry and a book began to slip. Seto, with his fast reactions, caught it in mid drop with the top front of his shoe, “Let me help.” Yami hid a blush as he nodded, “My locker is down stairs.” Seto did an amateur trick and tossed the book from his foot to his hand. Yami was too busy hiding his blush that he didn't notice Seto showing off for him. “So… Why'd you lie? It didn't matter to me if you did meet my friend or not,” Seto tried to get Yami talking. Yami cleared his throat and stopped at his locker.

Down the hallway…

Joey was secretly watching and listening on the two a few lockers down with his friend, Bakura and Ryou. “Hey, someone's got a crush…” Joey tapped his friends and pointed to where his brother and his best friend stood talking to one another. Bakura rolled his eyes, “Seto's asking for it if Marik ever shows up.” “Who gives a damn about Marik, besides? I think its cute, my bro is actually hitting on my friend.” Joey smiled as he watched the two. Ryou sighed lovingly, “How come we weren't like that, `Kura?” Joey giggled at the nickname. Bakura scoffed and replied, “Cause you had a collar and leash in your hand with my name on it.” “Damn Right!” Ryou laughed along with Joey this time.

Back to the two love birds…

“How are you two such `Good' Friends if you both are so…” Yami started but didn't have the heart to finish his question. “Different?” But Seto didn't mind. “Yeah. Marik is scary; Correction, VERY scary, and you're so much more nicer. You make straight A's even if you were blindfolded,” Yami got so lost in his comment he didn't realize that he was practically sweet talking Seto. Seto took it more as a compliment and let the sweet talk slide, “We are very different, but something's don't need to be the same in order to like each other. There are things that I don't like about him, but he's tough and that's good enough for a friendship.” Yami stared at him quizzically, what Seto just said made absolutely no sense to him. Yami shook his head and tried to change the subject, “When can we meet for my lessons?”

“I've heard there was a test in Math tomorrow, if there's a study sheet for homework today then we'll talk about it later.”

“And if there isn't a Study sheet?”

“After School? Say, about 5 or so?”

Yami smiled and closed his locker, “Perfect.”

The two walked off side to side, like lovers, to their next class… Math!

!#$^@$%&#$^*%($%&@#$%^@#&@$&%@$%&@$&*

The next few classes were a drag, but at least there was very little homework to do. Seto met up with Yami just a few short minutes before the bell rang at 3, and they decided to meet at Seto's place before leaving to this `Secret Spot' that Seto couldn't stop `yapping' about, In Joeys terms.

4:30 or so at Yami's

Yami was unsure of what to wear but when he got finished with his homework he quickly changed into some casual clothes and headed out the door. His dad wasn't home, but he left a message about where he was, At Kaiba Apartment, but didn't say What he was going to do.

4:45 at Kaibas apartment…

“Ready to go?” Seto met Yami at the door with a boom box in his hand. Yami nodded, “Did you figure out that science problem?” he asked Seto. Seto shrugged, “It was stupid, but I still did it. That Blind fold thing didn't work though.” Yami smiled, “You take things too seriously…” “I thought it would have been interesting,” Seto led the way out, with a chuckling Yami behind him.

Down the Street near a bus stop…

Yami was drinking a warm Latte' alongside Seto as they were heading for the dance room. A small Café shop was having a sale and Yami wanted something to drink, so they both got something for the trip. The silence between them was uncanny, it was almost like they could get along just not saying anything to each other, but that's not how Yami would let it. “What did you mean?” Yami suddenly asked. “What?” Seto turned his attention to him. “You said `There were things that you didn't like about Marik, but he's tough and that was good enough for a friendship'. What did you mean?” Yami asked again. Seto groaned, “I meant that there were something's that you can hate about somebody, and still be friends with them. I'm like that with Marik.” “You like him because you hate him? That's redundant,” Yami answered sarcastically. Seto wasn't impressed and argued with Yami, “Look Yami, Marik saved my ass a long time ago, and I owe him, and it doesn't matter to me if he still robs and mugs people; just as long as he keeps me out of it.” Yami did feel sorry, but he couldn't help but ask “How?” Seto stood with Yami face to face and told him the story between him and Marik; “Marik talked me into cracking into someone's liquor store some time ago and opened the cash register. Marik took the money and a few cases of wine while I kept a watch out for anybody. Some ass hole triggered the alarm and the police came running right at us in mere seconds. Marik and me were completely surrounded by the cops, so we made a run and split up. Now, I must've been going in the wrong direction because the cops were closing in on me. I tripped on some wire and my leg got cut open, I was lucky because the cops couldn't completely see me but they were close enough to find me. Marik saw that I was in trouble and broke into a near by Jewelry store and set off the alarms. You see Yami; He took the heat away from me and turned it to him. The cops took him away and they never found me and they never will. Marik said that the Cops offered him everything but the world itself just to find out my name, and he never said a word about me to the Cops.” Seto stared at Yami, and waited for a reaction, but Yami turned away and sat down on the Bus stop Bench. Seto let the argument drop and sat down by Yami. Yami whispered a `Sorry' to Seto, and Seto gave him a light push on the shoulder, as in `No Prob'.

Yami wanted to say something so he decided to say something too “I stole a Hat once. My mom found it a few days later and made me give it back.” Seto laughed loudly, “Gangsta Yami stole a hat People! Call the FBI!” Yami laughed lightly, “You going to turn me in?” Seto took a deep breath after that outburst, “Nah, I think I'll wait for you to surrender.” Yami turned slightly pink and looked for the bus that was supposed to be there an 5 minutes ago. “You live with your dad?” Seto asked, getting impatient again. “Yeah,” Yami said not really wanting to think about it. “Why don't you talk about your family?” Seto persisted. “Cause there's nothing to say,” Yami replied dryly. A moment of silence came between them. “Do you get along with your mom? You know, all tight and shit?” Seto asked.

Yami made a slight pause, but replied slowly, “Yeah… we got along… all tight and shit.” “Got?” Seto looked at him quizzically. “I used to know her.” Yami replied. Seto noticed that there was a choked sound in his voice, like he was almost in tears, “What happened?” Yami gripped his fist on the bench and couldn't bring himself to answer Seto. Seto took notice and laid his hand on top of Yami's, “You don't have to, if you don't want to. I was rude to pressure you.” Yami gasped at Seto's hand and a faint blush appeared on his face. Seto kept his hand on Yamis, but didn't notice the blush at all and mistaken it for the cold weather.

A bus pulled up to the two a few moments later. Seto took his hand away and Yami sighed in both Frustration and relief. Seto grabbed the boom box he had and followed Yami on to the bus, “You get along with your dad? All tight and Shit?” Yami smiled as he grabbed the rail of the bus and went to find a seat, “Yeah, We get along. We're so tight our DNA practically matches.” Seto Laughed.

Down an Alleyway At the bus stop….

“How do you know this place?” Yami asked as Seto handed him his boom box to jump onto a dumpster (A/N: Why do I always make Seto jump onto a dumpster?). “I came to help the construction last summer. I helped the decoration and the budget for buying this small apartment. No one is in there now, so we'll use it for now,” Seto reached up high for a fire escape stair case that led to an open window high above. Seto jumped down and helped Yami get up the stair first, unfortunately Yami slipped after the first few steps and his butt accidentally backed up onto Setos crotch. Yami blushed a very deep red and Seto was so startled he couldn't do anything but pardon himself for being too close to Yami. Yami sped up more quickly the rest of the way up. Seto gained back his composer near the top and stated a humorous remark, “That was a little too advanced for now, but that part of dancing will come a little later.” Yami was too embarrassed to reply to him.

The two easily got through the window easily, and like Seto said no one was around. A few chairs were stacked up near a rusty old door, but there was plenty of room for Chairs. Seto grabbed a chair and sat the boom box on it. Yami undid his jacket and began stretching. Seto secretly watched at the corner of his eyes, Yamis body was so slim and the way it moved in Yamis stretches were so sensual he couldn't turn his attention away. And the tight clothes Yami wore didn't help very much either when turning your attention away. `Damn…' Seto thought as his imagination kicked in. Yami noticed that Seto suddenly froze after a moment and decided to check up on him, “You okay?” “Y-Yeah, I'm fine,” Seto gave himself a slight pinch on his hand as he set up the boom box. A Soft Hip hop song started going (Not a love song, but not a crazy beat song either.) Seto gave his head a bob as he couldn't help but move his foot to the beat. “All right. First lesson,” Seto turned around to Yami. Yami jumped off the floor in an amateur move, and faced Seto with a smile. Seto walked up to Yami and began teaching, “the first thing that you need to know is that Hip hop is more than just dancing. It's an attitude. Before we get down to dancing I'm gonna teach ya on how to be cool… Like me.” Yami strained to hold back a laugh. Seto rolled his eyes, “Star pupil all ready.”

Seto grabbed a chair for Yami, “Show me how you sit?” Yami sat down in the chair properly and looked like he was at a wedding. “What the? Are you sitting down for tea or something? Move over,” Yami moved away and Seto sat down. Seto let his arm prop itself on the back of the chair and let his legs sit loose, and his back leaned on the chair's back. Yami quirked an eyebrow. “See, that's all there is to it.” Yami then sat down in Setos spot and tried to imitate him. Seto gave Yamis shoulder a tap, “Slouch a little bit more.” Yami slouched more, but Seto laughed as he was only playing a joke on him. “You look like a hunch back! That's hilarious!”

Yami blushed, “Now that you're done tormenting me, can you start teaching me now?”

Seto tuned down his laughing, “But I am teaching you. I'm teaching you how I live before I teach you on how I dance.” “How will that help me?” Yami asked. “You want to be my dance partner right?” Seto asked back. Yami jumped in surprise at that question, “Yes?” “Then to make a perfect rhythm for dancing, you have to know your partners style in order to synchronize into a whole dance. If I understand you, and you understand me; we can dance.” Seto gave Yami a wink. Yami blushed brightly, but lucky for him Seto had to turn around to the boom box.

A Few more lessons about Setos life style pass…

“All right, Lets take a break before we go home.” Seto clapped his hands together and gave himself a long stretch. Yami went over to near the boom box and picked up his clothes. “Don't worry about it,” Seto suddenly said to Yami from behind. “What?” Yami fanned himself from the blush that was rising in his cheeks. “Dancing? You wanted to learn to dance. We'll do that next time; I just wanted to make sure you were willing to learn about me before you learn from me. Unless, You have a question you wanted to ask about me?” Seto turned off the boom box but still kept eye contact with Yami. Yami thought to himself about questions, but most were all ready answered, but there was one that he learned from Joey about that morning that he wanted to ask Seto about, “Did you always wanted to be a doctor?” Seto suddenly stopped what he was doing and his FULL attention was now on Yami, “Who said I wanted to be a doctor?” “Joey, Bakura… Everybody,” Yami replied. “Yeah, I've been trying to get into this cool Doctor College down town, but I haven't got my letter yet.” Seto put his boom box on the floor as he noticed Yami began stretching again, `Oh dear god…' he thought as he tried to save himself of a `Hard' Problem that might happen if this kept up. “What kind of doctor?” Yami asked as he gave his leg one last stretch and put his jacket on. Seto noticed the quiet from Yamis body and stood up, “Pediatrician. I like kids, especially my nephew. Do you have plans for your future?” Yami shook his head no, like in deep thought but with no answer. “You'd make a good Dancer? You do know that?” Seto complimented. “Yeah… I did,” Yami secretly clenched his fist onto his jacket sleeve. “Did?” Seto asked. Yami suddenly got touchy and snidely replied, “Did, as in used to and don't do it anymore. And no we may not talk about it, it's none of your business.” Seto was taken back by his rudeness, but thought that he was a little rude himself. Yami made he way out of the door and downstairs, but when the door closed behind Yami, Seto whispered to himself, “I think it is…”

Seto ran after Yami, and walked him home…
