Yu-Gi-Oh! Fan Fiction ❯ Save the Last Dance For Me ❯ Missleading? or Just Toying with Me? ( Chapter 4 )

[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]

Seto walked along side Yami all the way to the house. Both were a little quiet, but the closer they got to Yami's apartment the more talkative they seemed.

“So… When can I learn about you?” Seto suddenly asked.

“Well, what time is it?” Yami asked. Seto pulled out a little silver pocket watch from his pocket and looked at it, “um… 8:45?” “My dad'll be home soon. Sorry, maybe sometime after you teach me to dance tomorrow?”

Seto was strangely quiet about something that was on his mind. “Seto?” Yami asked after a long wait of a reaction. “Sssh,” Seto hushed him. Yami looked around and noticed there was something strange that made the place seem unsafe, “We can go around?”

“I don't think that's an option for us anymore,” Seto said, as he got in front of Yami. Some drunk and street gang men came out of nowhere and closed in on the two. “What do they want?” Yami whispered. “Knowing them, probably more money for booze,” Seto tried to back away with Yami.

“heh heh hhheee… Looks like we found ourselves a beauty,” One man chuckled as he appeared behind the two and tried to grab Yami. Seto fended him off and pushed him aside, “Go!” Yami dashed away. Seto followed in retreat. The men of the alley followed the two and chased them.

Yami ran and Seto protected him from anything fast enough to get close to them. “Where are we going?” Yami asked as he still kept running. “Don't worry about where we're going now. Just far enough to get away from those punks!” Seto replied. “They're still behind us?!” Yami shouted. Seto stopped at a very small alley and pulled Yami in. Yami thought someone had caught him and tried to scream, but his mouth was covered by Seto's hand. Yami tried to calm himself as Seto led him down the narrow path and behind a building.

When they went around a building, they both sat down on a doorstep to catch their breaths. “That (Pant) was scary…” Yami said, as he couldn't get enough air. “It's the curse of living in New York,” Seto answered, obviously too fit to be out of breath. When Yami caught his breath completely they continued their journey back to Yami's apartment, Seto wanted to make full sure that what Yami just seen was something to learn about, “Now do you see why it's best to let me escort you? Thugs like those are everywhere in this god forsaken City.”

Yami was still resting, but Seto was full of energy and offered to carry Yami to his apartment. Yami blushed at the question, but he was too worn out to even stand at the moment, “S-sure.” Seto turned his back to him and kneeled down, “All aboard.” Yami was hesitant, but got on safely. When Seto stood up Yami felt like he was flying, he never knew that being so tall makes everything below you seem so different. Seto started off at a slow pace to make sure Yami got use to his piggyback ride before sprinting down the streets. Yami was blushing so brightly, you'd think Seto had a Red light bulb at the back of his head. Yami could smell a fragrant smell coming from Seto's hair as it brushed softly against his face. Yami was in complete heaven at the moment…

Seto, at the moment, was starting to think that Yami had had a few shots of alcohol before going home because he could hear little giggles coming from the thing on his back. “Are you okay back there, or are you drunker than shit?” Seto asked as he stopped at a four way, only two blocks away from the apartment. Yami cleared his throat and answered in a choked whisper, `Yes'. Seto kneeled slightly and let Yami off and couldn't help but state the obvious, “You're weird. My bro has the most weirdest way of picking his friends.” Yami smiled, he was getting use to hearing that from Seto at school, “And you have a weird way of complementing people on their personality. Looks like I'll have to teach you some more.”

“I'm looking forward to it,” Was the short reply from Seto.

The Two walked the rest of the way home. Not much was said between the two, but they could tell that they were both thinking the same thing, `How many hours is it till tomorrow?'

When the two stopped at the Gate Seto wished Yami a good night, and Yami did the same to Seto. They both parted but they still watched the other. Seto watched Yami until he was through the door, which Yami closed slowly and seductively. Seto then did another `True' Happy smile, and walked slowly away. Yami however raced upstairs and ran quickly to the window to watch Seto stroll away. Seto noticed Yami still staring at him, and waved at him. Yami waved back and mouthed `Tomorrow'. Seto nodded and mouthed back `Tomorrow'.

(A/N: Awe, how cute can those two get? Well, I'm not going directly into tomorrow, but I'll show the difference between Seto and Yami's relationship compared to Joey's and Dukey boy's relationship… There's going to be fireworks!)

Seto walked all the way back home, and not a sign of those thugs showed up to him. Of course, they were more interested in Yami than they were him, but Anyways…

Seto went through the door and gave a friendly greeting to Grandma Dean, who was reading a book on a nearby sofa in the living room. “Where's Joey?” Seto asked, finding the house to be unusually quiet. Grandma Dean shook her head in a way that made Seto curious (She did it in like a `Somebody-is-going to-have-a-funeral-here-soon' way.) “Duke is on his way here to pick up your nephew,” Grandma Dean whispered to Seto. Seto shook his head and Groaned.

`Yep, Duke's in for the Beating of his life. Ignoring Joey, and leaving a son at his house all alone; is not what we would call `Daddy' Material.' Seto thought as he took off his coat and hung it up in the closet.

A knock came at the door and Seto opened it. It was Duke. “Hey, Kaiba,” Duke strolled in like he was in no trouble at all. Seto groaned again, `Can't People just call me `Seto', For once in their Life time?' Seto wanted to slam the door, but he remembered the last time he did that and he learned the reason why Momma Dean kept a wooden paddle in her closet. Seto gently closed the door and Joey walked in. “I don't have Mokuba ready, but could you hold him while I get his stuff ready?” Seto noticed the glint of anger in Joey's eyes. `Oh yeah, Duke's going to get it good,' Seto walked over to the couch and looked at the book Momma Dean was reading, to get the two angry couple out of his mind. “Why do I have to hold Mokuba? Can't you just do both things at the same time?” Duke sat down in a lounging chair and propped his feet up on a brand new coffee table. “What do you think you are doing? Mokuba is our son, and we both have to take care of him. Now come help me or you can leave your son here,” Joey's hand balled into a fist and he went into the Baby room. Duke quickly got up and followed Joey, in a bored and `I don't want to mommy' expression on his face. “Here we go,” Momma Dean said to Seto. “Who do think is going to call the ambulance tonight?” Seto asked sarcastically back. Momma Dean closed the book and offered it to Seto, “Ambulance? Child, We'll need a whole army to keep Joey from tearing Duke Limb from Limb. The Great Lord may of given Joey great strength, but Joey always acts before he thinks.” Seto took the book as Momma Dean got up and headed towards her room. Seto put the book away for her and sat back down on the couch, “Countdown to Death of Duke Devlin.”

I n Joey's room…

Duke was trying to hold his son, but was having difficulties with Mokuba screaming in his ear. “What's wrong with him?” Duke asked stupidly. “He doesn't know you Duke. If you were around more often then maybe he wouldn't be screaming his lungs out in your face.” Joey grabbed a diaper bag out from under a table and started filling it with baby toys, diaper, Bottle, etc. “Of course he knows me, I'm his father!” Duke shouted over Mokuba's screaming. “I can't depend on you to teach him who his family is. I'll teach him when my work doesn't get overloaded on me,” Duke mumbled as Joey took Mokuba out of his hands. “And you know what, I can't depend on you, Period!” Joey shouted at Duke. “What do you think I use to raise this Baby? Oxygen?” Joey continued shouting as he sat Mokuba down on a Diaper changing bed. Duke threw his hands up in the air, “I'll take him to my mothers. He'll be fine there!” Mokuba began to cry as his ears hurt even more from the progressingly loud shouting within the room. “Mokuba has needs Duke! And if you don't give enough to fill his needs, He's going to grow up without a dad! So Straighten your ass up and help me raise our son!” Joey shouted but made sure it wasn't right over Mokuba. “Here we go,” Duke answered, half-heartedly. “And we're going to keep going till I get what I need in order to help raise our son!” Joey tried picking Mokuba back up, but Mokuba struggled.

“Hey! What are you all doing to my Nephew here?!” Seto came in and picked Mokuba up, off the Diaper Bed. Mokuba calmed down, for he was used to Seto always cheering him up. Seto lightly bounced Mokuba up and down and hushed him to quiet down. “Why is he always like that when Kaiba hold him?!” Duke pointed accusingly at Seto. “Because Seto is a better man and Better person than you'll ever be, Duke!” Joey growled and went to get the Diaper bag ready. “I Didn't Ask for this!” Duke yelled, and Mokuba started getting tears in his eyes again. “What and I Did? I crawled on top of myself and got pregnant!?” Joey shouted. Duke got furious and was ready to leave quickly, “Get him Ready.” Seto sat Mokuba back down on the bed and tried to entertain Mokuba while the two argued. “Thanks Bro, Mokuba can always count on you.” Joey said as he put some more stuff in the Diaper bag. Duke snapped and grabbed the Diaper bag harshly from Joey, “GET HIM READY YOU SELFISH BITCH!” The whole room became quiet.

Joey gasped in horror, and Seto quickly stood up and turned to Duke, “Don't. You. Ever. Say. That. Again!” Seto grabbed him by the collar and held him off the ground. Duke struggled in Seto's hands with a look of horror on his face, for he had never seen Seto so defensive and so angry. “Mokuba is your son, and if you don't like it. Tough luck, I never thought you were a good father anyway,” Seto crushed Duke into the wall and was ready to punch Duke's lights out, but he turned his head to Mokuba. Mokuba was trying to reach out for him, trying to stop him. Seto glared at Duke, and let his fist go back to relaxed position. Duke was let down slowly onto the floor. Seto stepped back and gave Duke room to run off. Duke didn't say anything as he left through the door. Seto turned his head slightly to Joey. Joey couldn't tell if Seto was still angry, but he could tell that he was trying to calm down.

A moment of silence passed by…

“You okay bro?” Joey asked. “Yeah…” Seto walked over to Mokuba and ruffled the child's hair. Mokuba smiled brightly in appreciation. “You know… I'm glad that you did that to Duke, but what made you stop? Nothing has ever stopped you before, why now?” Joey asked as he took the Diaper bag back at the room door. Seto didn't answer him, but said he was tired and said good night to Mokuba and Joey.

(New Important Note: I know what you new readers are thinking, `What the hell?' to the thought of what Joey said about crawling on top of himself and getting pregnant, He was actually just being sarcastic because the obvious answer to the question is No. Mokuba was an abandoned child found in an orphanage; which Dukey-Boy was walking by one time and thought that he did look like a cross between Joey and Him. When Duke adopted Mokuba, Joey had no idea about it and was really against the thought of raising a family with Duke. That was the first time Seto ever had to take care of a little baby, and found it to be his career interest. So its sort of good and sort of a beginning of Joey beginning to deny Duke of being a good Husband.

Secret F. Y. I: I also put that in for a little Foreshadow for a great Epilogue. If you don't know what that is ask your English teacher.

The Night was quiet for both Seto and Yami, although both had the other running through their mind…

The Next day at School was a complete bore for the two dancers, at least when the other wasn't in the same room. Seto was always close by to Yami and Yami was always by Seto. Both talked and chatted like crazy, both not realizing that they were telling their most inner secrets to one another (Except their secret crush on the other. That'll come later). Marik, Ryou, Bakura, and even Joey all watched the two spend time with each other. Marik was unpleased by Seto's ignorance of him. Bakura and Ryou both argued on about if the two were going out and should tell the school, Ryou wanted to do it but Bakura warned him about what Marik can do if he found out. Joey felt torn about how his brother found a better person to love and most likely loved him back (Which is much better than Duke and Himself). He felt happy for Seto, but he also felt jealous of him.

Joey turned away from his brother and his supposed best friend and talked to someone who wasn't bothering to watch the two…

To Seto and Yami….

“Hah Hah! You really did that? Oh my gawd, That's hilarious!” Seto laughed as Yami told him the story of his first Cooking lesson. Yami blushed a little, but he found himself laughing too. “Oh man, I hope you never become a chef and put cooking oil in my drink!” Seto continued his laughing fit. “All right. I've got one on you. I remember recalling that you once mistaken a cup of sugar for a cup of Salt and poured it into a `Sugar' Cookie batter one time in cooking. Am I ringing a Bell, Seto?” Yami made a devilish smirk. Seto stopped laughing and stared at Yami in shock, “How'd you know that?” “I have my sources,” Yami laughed now at Seto. “All right, all right. You got me back. Fair is fair, all is fair in love and war,” Seto bluntly said as Yami kept laughing at him. Yami tuned down to a chuckle when the lunch bell suddenly rang.

“I'll see ya after Lunch,” Seto stood up and grabbed his back pack.

“Sure,” Yami said and went over to Joey. The two parted away and went to their separate tables in the cafeteria. Both friends of the Two greeted each one very strangely…

To Yami…

“Hey guys,” Yami sat down across from Joey and greeted the friendly table. “Hey Yami,” Ryou waved a `Hi' to him, and was cheery, as usual. Joey looked at Yami in a strange manner. Yami noticed and decided to ask about the strange glare coming from his first friend ever since he first came to school, “Is something wrong Joey?” “Are you going out with him or not?” Joey bitterly asked. “Going out? With who?” Yami cocked his head to the side. “Joey? Why are you mad at Yami?” Ryou jumped in surprise at Joey's sour voice. “Are you or are you not going out with Seto!?” Joey almost wanted to shout at Yami. “No. We're just good friends, Joey. We talk a lot to each other because of some Dancing thing. Ask him yourself, I would never do something that you don't want me to do,” Yami replied apologetically. “Nah,” Joey calmed down after taking a deep breath. “I was just getting too paranoid because Seto would neva hide something from me. I should've known that you two weren't that much of Good Friends. My bro likes girls, so I guess I shouldn't of asked anyway,” Joey replied as he waved the thought away. Yami nodded and held back a blush at the thought of the said blue-eyed Brunette and him being together, In love…

But according to Joey, that wasn't a Good thing…

Over To Seto…

“Hey guys,” Seto sat down at the usual lunch table with his friends, whom all gave him strange glances. Marik wasn't there, so Seto figured out they were staring at him because of him. “And you are all challenging me to a staring contest because?” Seto asked. “I'd be careful, Seto. Marik will slaughter you if you aren't careful,” Bakura suddenly sat down next to Seto and spoke for the staring people on the other side of the table. “What's that supposed to mean? I don't know what you're all are getting at?” Seto was getting really in tuned to what the others had to say. “We know what's going on, you like that weird haired kid over there. You two chat non-stop in every class period for the past two days now,” the Man furthest to Seto's right pointed at Yami. Seto turned around and noticed that they were talking about Yami. Seto was a little shocked to see that Joey was angry with Yami somehow, and he had a strange urge to go over to Joey and get him off of Yami's case. But that would be doing what his friends are expecting. Seto turned around and face his friends, “We're not going out. If we were, then I wouldn't be sitting here, now would I?” Seto asked back. All of His friends looked at each other stupidly, Except Bakura, and then nodded their heads in acknowledgement, His friends were complete nimrods compared to Seto's genius when it came to deceiving others. All except Bakura, who knew better than to listen to Seto when he was speaking in `Smart Talk'.

“Kaiba,” Seto jumped as a cold slender hand touched him on the shoulder. Seto knew who it was, “Marik?”

After Lunch…

Yami and Seto were both shy around the other after lunch. Both were suspected of being lovers, and not many of their friends enjoyed the thought. And as loyal as Both Yami and Seto were to their friends, they had to stop falling for the other. And the only way to do it was to not look or talk to the other at all…

“Hey, Can we put the Dancing for tomorrow?” Seto asked Yami while passing him down the hallway. “Sure,” Yami answered quickly to Seto. Seto smiled greatly, “Good. I'll, uh, see ya around?” Seto waved Yami good-bye as he continued on his path towards the next class. Yami waved back at Seto and went his separate way. Both were equally depressed of this new change of friendship, but it was the better of their friends. They just wish it didn't hurt them so badly deep inside.

Bakura and Ryou were watching from a distance in the hallway, and both noticed the depressed look on their faces. Ryou got furious and elbowed Bakura in the ribs, “All right, what did you say to him?!” “Ow, I didn't say anything. All I said to Kaiba was that he better watch his back or Marik will shoot the both of them, that's all. I told him for his own good. You and I both know that look in Seto's face when he's in love, and the way he gets all googly eye at Yami the moment he walks in the room,” Bakura answered back. Ryou nodded, “Its surprising he hasn't told Yami about his feelings. I can't imagine the hurt those two are feeling just because Seto's friends and what Joey said to them. I think its completely stupid. They shouldn't throw their friendship away all because of a few people!” “Ryou, its much more than that. If Seto gets caught even as so much as saying the words `I love you' to Yami. Marik would shoot him in the back of the head, and he may even kill Yami too. Seto knows what he's doing, and I'd agree with him with this.” Bakura explained, but caught a glimpse of Marik grabbing Seto by the shoulder and pulling him to a far off corner down the hall. “Still… Look at them Bakura. There so depressed, a Rain cloud resembles a field of flowers compared to their faces,” Ryou complained. Bakura nodded. Sure Ryou was right, but what if Bakura was more right than he was?

Ring, Ring,

“Oops got to go to class,” Ryou and Bakura both said in unison to each other, and to their separate classes.

[A/N: In case you were jealous of the fact that I let those two be in love is probably because, Bakura can get away with being in love with Ryou because he told Marik that they were brothers a long time ago. For Seto and Yami, that's not possible…]

At Class time…

Seto sat down in his seat, but way in the far back of the classroom. He and some other kids usually are the first ones to class. Seto sighed. This wasn't working as well as he hoped it would be.

Yami walked through the doors and gave Seto a look. It was a look of hope in Yamis eyes that made Seto gasp. Yami suddenly broke their gaze and sat down in the front of the room. Seto wanted so badly to sit next to Yami, and ask him what was wrong. But he had a promise to keep.

----- Flash Back----

“Hey, Kaiba! Get over Here!” Marik suddenly grabbed Seto, whom was just walking towards Yami to talk to him about what happened during lunch. “Ah! Not so harsh Man! Gotta keep my threads clean,” Seto was in a sour mood all ready. “Relax Kaiba, I was just wondering. Are you going to teach your boyfriend to dance tonight?” Marik asked teasingly. “I don't have a boyfriend, Marik. We've all ready been through this. If you mean teaching Yami how to dance like us, then yeah. I am.” Seto was very touchy and those around or heard his voice were questioned. Seto hardly ever goes to school pissed off at someone or something (That's only because he doesn't give a Fuk.)

“Awe, what a shame. I was going to ask you if you wanted to play some basketball, later. But if you've got a boyfriend I understand,” Mari turned around and hid a mysterious smirk on his face. Seto grabbed him by the shoulder, “Fine. What do you want me to do in order to prove that I don't have a boyfriend?” Marik held back and evil chuckle as he turned around. “What? Well, tell him you'll teach him tomorrow, and I don't want to see you around Yami for the whole day today until after school tomorrow,” Marik gave him a challenging stare. Seto suddenly had the urge to clench his fist and punch Marik right in the face, but instead he bit on his lower lip. `What am I going to do?' He turned his head towards Yami and stared at him, while thinking. After a few seconds of thinking, Seto turned his attention back to Marik. Marik, with that sly grin on his face, gave him the feeling that what he was about to say was going to change his life. In one way or another.

“Fine, Marik… I'll tell him to keep things off until tomorrow,” Seto turned around and made his way to Yami. Seto's heart skipped a beat when he heard a faint voice of Marik saying, “I knew you would agree.” Seto turned around, but Marik disappeared in the crowds. `Something doesn't feel right…' Seto wasn't for sure if he should go on with this.

But a deal was a deal…

Seto shrugged it off after he glanced at a nearby clock and noticed there was only four minutes left till the end of walking period. `I don't have time to think about it this! Just get it over with all ready!' Seto ruffled his hair angrily and made his way towards Yami. Not realizing the danger he had now placed Yami in…

----- End the Flashback----

“Hey,” Seto said depressingly to Bakura as he sat at a seat right next to him. “What are ya doing? Yami sits way up there,” Bakura tried to get the old happy Seto back. Seto shook his head sadly, “I can't, remember?” “Forget what Marik said. He isn't here now,” Bakura tried to convince Seto that it didn't matter what others think. “But you're still here? You're Marik's eyes and ears. You told Marik about how much I talk with Yami, and how suspicious you think we are, Didn't you?!” Not exactly what Bakura was aiming for, but at least Seto was less Depressed, and becoming more of the old `Smartest thing since a Bread-Slicer' type person. “No, no,” In fact it was Bakura who brought up the thought to Marik, “I just thought that whatever Marik says shouldn't be a bother to you. You're the only one of the whole gang that can tell Marik what is on your mind, and he'll let you be.”

Seto sighed, “It's not that easy… Not this time.”

Bakiura quirked an eyebrow at Seto. Seto was getting worse by the minute!

“Okay, Class. We have a lot to do today! I hope you all found out your project partners from yester-” The teacher started but then was interrupted when most of the students all said `What the?' all in unison. “What? I never told you your partners yesterday?” The teacher scurried around his desk and grabbed a stranded clipboard. “All right. The partners will be… Bakura and Christian. Seto and Yami. (All the other students aren't important).”

`Crap!' Both said friends, who've been trying to avoid each other since lunchtime, thought at the same time.

“All right, you know your partners. Now get to work,” The teacher clapped his hands and all the boys got into their groups. Yami went over to a near table and waited for Seto to come over, for some reason he wanted to tell Seto something. Seto made his quiet slow walk towards Yami; for he wanted to say something too.

“Shall we begin?” Yami turned his head away from Seto and began reaching for the research books. Seto sat down at a close by chair, but then scooted away from Yami, but he didn't do it without that large pain in his chest.

The two were both quiet to one another. Seto was writing down some notes and Yami was reading through the books, showing Seto what to write down. The Teacher found it weird that all of his students were talking and debating on what was important and what wasn't, except the usual two kids that always chatted at the smallest chance. “Seto? Yami? You know, you can talk about your work if you like. I only tell you to stop talking when I'm teaching,” Both said boys looked up at him, then shrugged and went back to work. “Seto? Yami? Are you two even working?” The teacher grabbed Seto's notes and everything seemed correct. It was exactly what the project was asking and even some other interesting facts on the side as well. “Well, I guess if not talking to one another works for you two… I guess I can't argue. Carry on,” The teacher walked past them and decided to go over to the other students.

The two looked at each other for a while. Both wanting to say so many things to the other, but where to start?

Yami cleared his throat and went back to work. Seto's expression turned to shock as he had just missed his chance to say something. Seto sighed and went back to writing notes.

A few minutes pass and the two couldn't stand it any longer. Yami spoke first, “He's wrong you know.” Seto quirked an eyebrow, was Yami? Talking to him? After a half an hour of work, Yami was finally talking to him? “What does that mean?” Seto was still uneasy. “The teacher. He says that not talking is working for us… I think he's wrong. What happened during Lunch?” Yami continued. Seto gave a sad sigh, “I know what you mean. We were talking like good friends before lunch, and then after lunch, We've become so distant.” Yami nodded, “We need to start working together if we're ever going to get an A on this project.” “First, I want to know what my brother said to you?” Seto raised his eyebrow in curiosity. “It's nothing. Lets get back to-” Seto suddenly grabbed Yami's arm, and gave him a look like `I Know you're lying'. “Seriously Seto. It's nothing to worry about. Joey was only asking me if you and me were… um…” Yami suddenly turned away from Seto and got out of Seto's grasp. Seto knew what he was going to say, and it didn't take a rocket scientist to see how Yami felt about it. Yami was definitely upset that Joey would be rude to him just because he was a good friend to Seto. “My friends thought the same thing… No wonder we're so quiet to each other,” Seto was thinking/whispering… loudly. Yami grabbed his own pencil and began writing. Seto wanted to be at least friends with Yami, so he decided to be funny for him, “If you're gonna draw a picture of Bakura. Don't forget to draw that overwhelming acne problem of his.” Yami chuckled, “That's not what I was aiming for, Hotshot. But thanks for reminding me of why I prayed to not be his partner.” Seto, ever since Lunch, for once smiled.

Bakura was watching them from a far, barely paying attention to the project and the mockery from the two (dare I say it) Friends of his. He was enjoyed and grateful that something worked and the laughing/Happy/Sarcastic Blue eyed brunette that he knew since he was 12-years-old was back. “Hmm… I wonder what Marik said To Seto before class? Maybe I should check it out?”

“Check what out, Mr. Bakura?” The teacher tapped his foot impatiently and crossed his arms over his chest. “Nothing,” Bakura stated bluntly. “You know, I believe I assigned you to be with a partner helping out to make a project,” The teacher pointed to a lonely boy at an empty table at a corner of the room. “Yeah, and your point is?” Bakura challenged the Teachers gaze, still seated. “Tell me, when are you going to work on your project?” The teacher asked. “The day this school blows up,” Bakura replied. “But Bakura, You all ready have that day schedule for the first day you actually brush your teeth? I never knew you could multi-task… Go help your partner!” The Teacher tapped Bakura's shoulder with a small ruler. Bakura growled lowly, but felt better when he walked by the two people at the once quiet table, and now were discussing about the project with a few things on the side.

(A/N: Personally, I think Bakura gave himself too much credit, but he was basically the only one trying to help. The Teacher was just curious to why the two were so quiet, so he got credit for his curiosity. But that doesn't really matter, I guess. I'm just jabbering on about my opinion. Back to the story)

After The Last Class of the Day…

`I wonder if Seto still wants to meet Tonight? or is it tomorrow? Maybe I should go find him to check,' Yami was standing out side of the school building, waiting for his friend or anybody who knew where Seto was. Nobody familiar came out of the doors.

“Maybe I'll just call Joey's cell phone and check with him,” Yami was just about to turn around when he felt a slight tap on his shoulder. Yami turned around and stared into the naturally unattractive face of Marik. “Marik?” Yamis eyes narrowed. “I was just thinking. Maybe we got on the wrong foot. We both are good friends to the Kaiba, aren't we?” Yami has never trusted him, but he had a point. If they were going to be friends with Seto, then it would be best to get along with Setos friends as well. “Yeah… And you propose that we should do what?” Yami asked Marik, still drawing on his voice the fact the he still didn't like him. “I'm not saying that we should start now. I'm more of asking if you'd accept a little gratitude from me… and a note Kaiba wanted me to give to you,” Marik held up a folded piece of paper in front of Yami's face. It seemed safe enough, but was the person holding it safe enough to trust. “Just take it, Kaiba didn't tell me anything but to give it to you,” Marik took it away from Yami's face and acted almost like he was thinking of something smart to say. A moment of silence came between the two.
“Are you going to take it or are you going to let Seto down with whatever he wrote on this stupid piece of paper?” Marik was getting impatient. “Fine, but I'm still uneasy around you. I'd think it would be best if we were never acquainted,” Yami accepted the letter and went on his own way home.
Marik smirked devilishly as Yami got out of earshot, and whispered to him self, “As do I, Yami. As do I…”
To Yami… In his P.O.V.
I wonder why Marik seemed so willing for me to take this note, and since when did Seto start passing notes to me?
I was almost home when I stopped walking. Something didn't feel right…
Well, Maybe I should at least take a peak at the note; maybe Seto will have a reason as to why he had to send me a note. If he wants to continue teaching me, I might as well not disappoint him.
Lets see,
The paper was easily folded and easily unfolded too. I read through it and it did seem like Seto's handwriting from when we had to do that project earlier today.
Dear Yami,
I'm glad we're friends again, and glad that we can actually talk to each other again. I hope you get this letter sometime after school. I was hoping that you wouldn't mind going on with those dance lessons I promised you, but I was hoping we could do it tonight? and not tomorrow like I asked after that problem we got through with.
Call me later, Seto Kaiba
Hmm… I guess it wouldn't be bad to get my lessons tonight. I can't wait to get to dancing…
I Suddenly felt a pang of pain shoot through me. I wanted to dance?
I…can't do this again. I can't dream anymore because of what I did with my last dream. I killed my own family with my dream of dancing…I can't imagine who else could be my next victim.
I don't think I would let myself live anymore if I killed Seto with my dancing.
I looked at the letter again, and read it over one more time. He did seem eager to dance with me… All right, I'll learn to dance with him and I'll let myself dance. But I swore a long time ago that I would never kill another person with my dancing, and I'll do whatever I can to stop myself, if it means keeping others alive.
I continued walking home and this time the house felt different to me. I looked around and nothing seemed out of the ordinary… Till I stepped into the living room. “You…” I growled as I saw my old box of Ballet shoes that I kept still slightly open. I grabbed the box harshly and was about to toss it away, but then I stopped right before it was even close to the Trashcan. I wanted to get rid of those darn things, but… Something inside me wouldn't let me.
I sighed annoyingly and decide to just put them away somewhere. Anywhere but the trashcan.
I heard a thump as I leaned over and stuff the box under the couch. I looked up and the note I read from Seto laid on the floor.
Oh yeah, I was supposed to call Seto wasn't I? Damn it, I get so distracted so dang easily. Now where is that phone…
A Few Minutes pass…
I wonder why Seto isn't picking up? This is the 5th time I've called. Is he doing something? Maybe he's taking care of Mokuba and can't hear it?
Oh well, I'll just leave a message then…
I glance at the clock as I hung up the phone and jump in surprise. It was 6:45. I quickly grabbed my coat and dashed out the door. I already told dad about the dancing lessons, so I won't have conflicts when I get home. I hope I'm not that late.
Lets see why Seto didn't answer his cell phone…
Seto walked out on the basketball court, thinking that this was weird to set up a game during the cold night, but Marik was very weird anyway, so it made sense of weird and weird put together would make. Marik's gang stood there on the basketball court, Basketball in hand. “What are you thugs doing here?” Seto asked. “We're going to play against you. Marik said he couldn't be here tonight, he said you'd be down with that if we told ya, and see what you got,” One of the members with a scar across his face stood in front of his friends. “One on One?” Seto asked as he took off his coat and threw it off the court, where his cell phone was. “How about three on two?” Bakura suddenly walked out on the court and stood next to Seto. Seto smirked, and made the game more interesting, “FOUR on Two?” Bakura smirked; He liked the way Seto thought. The gang chuckled to each other, “how much per game?” “20 dollars?” Bakura questioned. “How about 30?” Seto corrected. The gang chuckled nervously but applied willingly.
They began the games, but somewhere far off, a poor soul (Yami's) was being played too, but this time it was for keeps and Yami was on the losing side.

Summary….
[A/N: Confused, Anyone?
Basically,
Marik doesn't like Yami, and the fact that Yami keeps taking Seto away from him. Marik knew how much of a `Defensive' guy Kaiba was, so he basically kept teasing Seto till Seto gave in. So Marik just has Seto lay off spending time with Yami till the next day, for Seto to think he was proving himself. Marik also knew of Seto rebellious side, and predicted that Seto would go against the bet and talk to Yami anyway. When Yami gets back to talking with Seto and they become friends again, Marik decides to pretend he's helping them out to be good friends. The real Seto didn't really write that letter that was supposedly written by him.
And as the Chapter ends, Seto is off playing Basketball with distractions and Yami is getting hurt by Marik and some other people down a cold and lonely street.
In other words, Marik has just basically set the two up. Seto is under his command again, and Yami is going to not see another day.
Or so Marik Thinks?
What would happen if Seto somehow got to Yami on his way home?]
