CHAPTER FIVE

Ryou gasped when he saw who was standing outside the door.

Mokuba-I just needed to make sure you were okay.

(a/n: bet most of you thought it was the OTHER Kaiba, ne?) Ryou poked his head out the door and glanced back and forth to make sure that Seto Kaiba wasn't with Mokuba.

Ryou-Do you want to come in?

Mokuba-Sure, for a little while, but then I have to get home. Seto arrives from the prison today. Which is actually why I came. I guess you've heard?

Mokuba sat down on the sofa and Ryou sat down on the other end, propping his feet up.

Ryou-Yeah. I heard.

Mokuba-Ryou, I'm so sorry about what happened. But Seto isn't like he was before. I haven't really talked to you about this yet, because I wasn't sure if you'd even want to speak to me. . .but do you want to know the whole story?

Ryou-Story?

Mokuba-Yeah. About why Seto did what he did, and how he's changed.

Ryou-Well I. . .I guess so. . .

Mokuba-Well. . .the last week before. . .you know. . .he had had several business meetings. He was always tired, always working. So he started to take this stuff. . .it was some sort of drug. I don't even know what it was called, and he won't tell me, but when he started taking it. . .it made him get really mean. You had just left to go visit your father, and Seto hit me. really hard. He got upset about it because he hadn't meant to hurt me, and he came over here to talk with Bakura. Yami was over here, and he was arguing with Bakura about something. Well, when Seto came over, he sided with Yami, and Bakura got really mad, so he hit Seto.

Ryou couldn't help but giggle a little bit. This scenario DEFINITLY sounded like a Bakura-involved scenario.

Ryou-Sorry, go on.

Mokuba-Anyway, so Seto got mad and hit Bakura. Yami tried to break up the fight, but Bakura hit him too, and then Seto hit Bakura a little bit too hard, and knocked him unconscious. Well, Seto and Yami were really worried, so they started drinking, trying to figure out what to do. Seto was still a little messed up from the drugs, and just got the sudden impulse to rape Bakura. So, when Bakura woke up, Yami, who was drunk, helped Seto tie him down to the bed and they raped him. Well, Seto did, at least. Yami was sober enough and came to his senses, and said that they should let him go, but Seto said that if Yami said anything to anyone, he'd kill Yugi. So, Yami didn't say anything.

Ryou-So why didn't Bakura tell me that Seto had raped him?

Mokuba-Well, from what Seto has been telling me lately, when he finally sobered up the next day and remembered everything that had happened, he stopped by to see if you were home, and he was going to tell you he was sorry, so you wouldn't call the police on him, but when he found out that Bakura was alone, and that he didn't remember what happened. . .or at least the Seto-involved part of it, he played along. He couldn't risk letting you find out, so he got close to Bakura and then. . .when Yami tried to tell Bakura what had really happened. . .Seto tried to stop him, but Yami wouldn't listen. Bakura freaked out when he thought Seto was going to hurt Yami, so he pulled out a knife and tried to kill Seto, and then Seto tried to protect Yami, and keep Bakura from hurting anyone. Well, Bakura tried to kill Seto and Seto was only protecting himself, so he tried to fight with Bakura and Yami got involved. He ended up getting killed by Bakura, and Seto tried to get out of there, but Bakura wouldn't let him, so Seto ended up killing Bakura. He was horrified, and started freaking out, so he stayed in the house and then the police came when Yugi realized that Yami wasn't home and. . .and. . .

Mokuba had started crying somewhere around the beginning of the second half of his explanation, and Ryou was trying his best to comfort him. Ryou didn't hold anything that Seto had done against him, and felt very sorry for Mokuba. He must have been through so much. After Mokuba's crying had subsided to the sniffles, he continued.

Mokuba-While Seto was in jail, he talked to me every chance he got. He kept asking me if you were okay, if you had ever gotten over what happened.

Ryou-Mokuba, I have a question. After your brother got out of jail. . .well, see the thing is. . .my house. . .see. . .

Mokuba-Um. . .

Ryou-Someone broke into my house and I just wanted to make sure it wasn't your brother.

Ryou hadn't meant to blurt that out, but he had. Mokuba stared at him in horror.

Mokuba-Of course he didn't break into your house!!! Ever since he bailed himself out of jail he's been at the mansion crying. He's worried about you, Ryou. He's worried. He wants to talk to you so badly, but he can't because right now he has a restraining order. he sent me over here because. . .he wanted me to tell you that he's sorry about everything that happened. He wants to know if you can put this all behind you two. He isn't asking for you to lift the restraining order, but he wants your forgiveness.

Ryou-Please Mokuba. . .leave. I'm sorry, I just can't deal with this right now.

Mokuba-Please Ryou, just forgive him. He didn't mean for anything to-

Ryou-He didn't mean for it to happen, but it did. It did and now I'm paying dearly for it. Do you know what it's like to loose the most important person in your life? To loose them and know that you may never see them again?! Do you know how I feel?!

A fresh batch of tears stung Mokuba's eyes.

Mokuba-I'm sorry. I didn't mean to upset you. I'll go now.

The doorbell rang just as Mokuba said that. Ryou jumped slightly, and walked to the door, opening it warily. It was just the pizza boy. Ryou handed him some money and took the pizza. He looked to Mokuba who was walking towards the door to leave.

Ryou-Do you want to stay for some pizza?

Mokuba-Well. . .I guess so. Are you sure it's alright?

Ryou-Yeah. I think I just need to sorta get over the fact that your brother is free now. I'm still a little shaken up about it. I've been having nightmares lately and. . .I just. . .I'm sure everything will be okay.

Mokuba-If you want, I'll stop talking about him.

Ryou-No. . .actually, I have a few more questions.

Mokuba-Okay.

The boys sat down in the living room and Ryou put on a movie for Mokuba and they shared the pizza. Ryou started the conversation up again about halfway through the movie.

Ryou-So. . .your brother isn't. . .dangerous anymore is he?

Mokuba-Of course not. He stopped using the drugs after he was sent to jail, he hasn't had any alcohol since the night he. . .and Yami. . .um. . .

Ryou-Right. So. . .if he ever talked with me, he wouldn't try to hurt me or anything?

Mokuba's eyes lit up a bit.

Mokuba-You mean you'd talk to him?!

Ryou-No, well yes I just mean. . .well that is. . .I might. Just to figure some things out. I wouldn't talk with him alone, it would be somewhere public, but I might get up the nerve to talk to him sometime. I just. . .I don't know.

Ryou was confusing himself. He wasn't really sure what he wanted. Mokuba and Ryou finished the movie and the last of the pizza, and it was getting fairly late in the evening.

Mokuba-Well, I'd better get back before Seto worries about me.

Ryou-Mokuba, do me a favor.

Mokuba-What?

Ryou-Don't tell Kaiba what I told you. About possibly talking with him. I don't want him to know, not until I'm ready.

Mokuba-Ok. What do you want me to tell him? He's going to ask about you.

Ryou-Tell him. . .tell him that I'm coping.
