Yu-Gi-Oh! Fan Fiction ❯ Seto Kaiba's Perfect Match ❯ BSing Around at Kaiba's ( Chapter 11 )

After a little hesitation, they all came back in and settled themselves on the two couches----Tea and Yugi and Tristan on one couch, Joey sitting cross-legged on the floor between them, and Seto and Mokuba and me on the other couch.
"This is awfully nice of ya, Kaiba," Joey said with a laugh. "It's a nice change." He gestured to our hands, which were now joined and resting on my upper thigh. "So you guys are---pretty close now, aren't ya?"
"Most definitely," I replied, giving Seto's hand an affectionate, gentle squeeze. "He's---wonderful." As I said it, Seto and I made eye contact, which sent a shiver down my spine, like always. His eyes were so startlingly blue and so piercing that it always took me by surprise a bit.
"OK, enough with the mushy fluffy stuff," Mokuba said, pushing his brother gently and waking both of us out of our dream world. "We wanna know some dirt."
"Yeah!" Joey said, a mischievous grin spreading over his face. "We wanna know everything. And please, some details? I need visuals."
"Well, maybe not that much dirt!" Mokuba said with a laugh. "That would just be a little too gross."
"Well, what kind of stuff are you talking about?" I asked Mokuba innocently. I knew quite well to what he referred----I just liked seeing him tiptoeing around mentioning the topic outright.
"Umm---" I watched as Mokuba's face flushed red just as Seto's often did (especially when I was being particularly naughty).
"Damn it, we wanna know about the sex!" Joey blurted, and Mokuba tried to stay contrite and not laugh, but failed miserably as he and the rest of the group erupted into a convulsive fit of giggles. Well, at least Joey was honest!
"All right, all right," I said, laughing a little, "if I give y'all a few situational details, will that suffice?" They all nodded in agreement. "And I won't give graphic information, Joey. Too much information is too much information---it's just---ew." I shuddered at the thought, and Seto laughed and put his arm around me gently, bringing his lips close to my ear.
"It's all right with me if you reveal a little about our relationship," he whispered in my ear. "Just don't tell them everything."
"Like how fucking awesome you are in bed?" I replied under my breath. Seto blushed as a response.
"Hey, hey, now, what are you lovebirds talking about?" Joey asked, pointing at us teasingly.
"Nothing you need to know, puppy," Seto replied airily.
"Ooh----you got told, puppy," Tristan said, reaching down off the couch and jokingly pushing Joey a little. Joey rolled his eyes.
"Whatever, Kaiba."
"Anyway, moving right along," I said pointedly, getting everyone to hush and listen. "Well, Seto had asked if I wanted to spend the night here instead of in my hotel room----"
"Man, I knew he was planning something all along," Tristan muttered.
"Ahem! As I was saying, he asked me, and I took him up on it. We got back here and talked for a little, and then we went to our respective rooms to go to sleep----yes, sleep." I looked at Joey and Tristan, who I knew were going to comment if I didn't say something. "I was getting ready for bed, but I----um, kinda forgot to shut the door, and so Seto got quite a show when he looked in the room where I was."
"Oh, son! You were stripping for him?" Tristan sputtered. Joey turned away and his shoulders shook with suppressed laughter. I clicked my tongue.
"Shut up with you and your perverted minds," I said. "I was in a state of undress, but not indecently so. I had on a shirt and panties."
"That's pretty undressed," Joey said, raising his eyebrows. "I know my sister doesn't go 'round the house in that. You sure you weren't providing a little late-night entertainment?" He winked at me, and I rolled my eyes.
"Well, I think Seto found it entertaining even though my show was unintentional," I said, looking over at Seto and smiling my wicked grin. "So, he asked if he could come in, and I said sure, and so we talked for a little while, and then---" I trailed off, and everyone could tell by my glowing face that the activity I alluded to with my silence was pretty steamy.
"Yeah?" Tea asked hopefully, trying to urge me on to tell more.
"And that's where I leave off," I said, choosing not to reveal any more than that.
"Aww! Damn it!" Joey said with a frown. "Tell us some more!"
"Well, what else do you want to know?" I asked teasingly. "After that, we got pretty naughty."
"I second that," Seto added quietly, and I snickered.
"Yeah, baby," I said, smiling mysteriously and settling into Seto's embrace.
"Well?" Joey said, pleading with us. "Details?"
My only response to Joey was a naughty giggle, and I looked up into my Sexy Man's eyes. "You want to add anything, or is that plenty?"
"Only one thing----maybe it'll satisfy their craving for graphic details," Seto said with an enigmatic, slight smile. "I will tell you all one thing about it. Just one."
The group leaned forward, excited.
"Well, when I said I did everything well, I think Robin will agree with me on that point," Seto said confidently. "After all, she did scream my name." He winked at me and I smiled.
After a little stunned silence, Tristan burst out laughing. "Uh-uh! Oh, that is rich!" He slapped his knee. The rest of the group blushed profusely and tried their best to look as if they weren't trying to laugh.
"She did?" Mokuba looked at Seto in disbelief.
"I sho'nuff did," I replied, smiling a little. "Let me tell you, he ain't the master of dragons for nothing." I started to laugh my naughty laugh, and everyone either looked shocked at my blunt speech or were blushing at the double entendre. Mokuba shook his head, rolling his eyes.
"Boy, Seto, you sure picked a crazy girl."
"Hey!" I said, trying to sound indignant but failing miserably, "I'm not that crazy---I'm eccentric."
"Got that right," Tristan muttered under his breath to Joey, who snickered.
"I heard that," I said, glaring at Tristan.
"Whatever."
"Anyway," Seto interjected, looking pointedly at Tristan and me for arguing, "that's pretty much all we're going to tell you."
"Not even any physical stuff?" Joey looked disappointed.
"Well" I started to say. Joey leaned forward, looking hopeful.
"Yeah?"
"There was one really odd thing that happened----do you remember the kind of glowing we saw around us?" I looked at Seto, and he nodded slightly.
"What glowing?" Yugi finally spoke up.
"Well, when Seto and I were----ahem, finishing up," I said slowly, "I saw this really cool glow around us. It was like the colors blue and indigo, but they blended, and sparkled around us. It was really cool."
"I saw it as well," Seto said, looking thoughtful. "But I thought I was just hallucinating."
"I think I've heard of that before," Tristan said, scratching his head in thought.
"Yeah----I remember one time I read about the individual vibrations that a person has," Tea said thoughtfully. "But they called it a weird name----'auras' or something like that."
"Exactly," I said. In truth, I knew quite well what we were talking about, but I didn't want to sound really out-there and too New-Agey unless everyone else was receptive to it, which they certainly seemed to be.
"Yami would probably know more about it," Yugi said, "but I think that when two people---um, are close---" He blushed. "Um, then the auras blend like you saw them do. That's pretty cool----I didn't know people could see their auras, though."
I looked over at Seto then, and realized he probably was not into all of this kind of stuff. "Hey, I'm sorry----I forgot. I'm kind of a New-Age kind of girl, and so I'm into a lot of stuff like astrology and numerology and things of that nature."
"Boy, are you with the wrong man, then!" Tristan said suddenly. "Kaiba's famous for not believing in anything unless he can physically sense it."
"Oh, he was physically sensing some stuff the other night, let me tell you." I just couldn't resist, with a line as good as that. I got a couple of groans and a couple of rolled-eyes expressions as my response.
"Well, you're right, Robin; I've made it my practice not to believe in such things. I tend to think they're a waste of time." Seto crossed his arms, and the coldness I felt from him was not false in the least. I bit my lip, anxious to mend my faux pas.
"Um, well, that's all right, Seto. Not everyone is supposed to believe in everything," I said, shrugging. "After all, what would the world be like if we all had the same beliefs?" I laughed in slight nervousness, hoping my humor would break through to him. "As a believer in most New-Age practices, one learns that skeptics and nonbelievers are everywhere, and one cannot convert them, nor should one try. Everyone's got to come to their own conclusions, in their own time. It's not for one person to decide who believes what."
To my surprise, Seto broke the ice and turned towards me slightly. "You surprise me yet again, Robin."
"What?" I asked, confused.
"When you mentioned you were into New-Age things, I thought you'd be pretty adamant about me believing as well. A lot of people I've met that believe in similar things are usually out to convert me, and I hate that. Your saying that sounds like the complete opposite of my experience."
"Well, I'll be truthful with you," I said conversationally. "A lot of so-called 'psychics' are frauds, but that doesn't mean they all are. Usually, if a person who practices any or all of the New-Age arts asks for money upfront, they're not for real. Or if they seem to talk a lot about money being evil and needing to get rid of it and stuff. That's also a red flag, because sometimes they want you to get rid of the money through them, if you catch my drift." I paused. "The people who are truly gifted need not resort to evil purposes to get their money or to get happiness. They are usually old souls who truly enjoy helping others on the path to their own happiness."
"Boy, that's really creepy," Joey said softly, cocking his head slightly. "It's like you're all mystical and cool now. That's freaky."
I laughed lightly. "My own insights and premonitions----yes, I have had some eerily accurate visions----have helped a lot of people. One thing that I have come across more than anything in the New-Age world is all this fatalistic BS. Your life is not fated to happen a certain way, no matter how many people tell you that! Rrg!" I snorted in contempt. "Free Will is one of the founding principles of New-Age belief. In short, you do make your own destiny. And, if I'm not mistaken, haven't you said that yourself, Seto?" I looked at him, and he slowly nodded.
"Yes----I have. You mean New-Age isn't all about predestination?" He, for the first time, looked confused.
"Certainly not. The whole purpose of astrology and numerology and Tarot cards is to help you find out things about yourself, your purpose in life, and your immediate future on the path you are now traveling. If you see something you like in your future, make the Free Will decisions now to keep yourself on that path. If you see something you don't like, make the decisions now to change that path. It's that simple." I sat back and folded my arms----I couldn't help but feel a little triumphant.
"Weeeird," Mokuba said, furrowing his brow just as his older brother often did. "That's really cool. Seto, maybe you believe more of this stuff than you think!"
"Hmm." Seto still looked a bit unconvinced.
"Well, I suppose I could tell y'all the weird psychic thing that happened between Seto and me," I said thoughtfully.
"What weird psychic thing?" Tea asked. She leaned forward expectantly, as did Joey and Tristan and Yugi.
"Well," I said slowly, "this has to do with my composing music, but----"
"Wow! You write music?" Yugi asked excitedly. "Cool, I've never met anyone who writes music."
"Awesome," Joey added. "How long you been doin' it?"
"Aboutumseven years," I said after thinking a bit.
"Wow" the group responded as one.
"How many songs do you have?" Mokuba asked.
"I have about 33 to date. Most of them are for piano, some for voice, and some are even piano and voice together." I couldn't help but feel a little proud explaining all of this to them. "I search to describe states of being in music, and often I like to write music for others as well. One of my very dear friends said once that when I truly knew a person, I could play them, their personalities, through music."
"Whoa, that's pretty sweet," Joey said softly.
"That is what ended up happening between Seto and me," I continued. "See, the first time I met him, as I have said, I subconsciously sensed a sadness within him. Unbeknownst to me, that sadness showed itself in my choice of songs to represent him. His song, by the way, is my 28th piece, 'Sorrow.' I had no idea at first why I had chosen my saddest song to represent a man who brings me such joy, but I discovered why." I looked over at Seto, who gave me a look that warned me not to reveal the sadness to which I referred, and I nodded back. "I won't tell you the exact discovery, but it confirmed my belief that I am somehow able to sense emotions in people before I truly even know of them, and can play those emotions in musical form."
"Oh, that's cool," Tea said with a sigh. "I wish I could play an instrument or sing. My voice sucks usually."
"Mine, too," Joey agreed. "One time, I was singin' in the shower back at the house, and Serenity thought her cat was dyin' outside." Tristan snickered at his comment, but the rest of the group tried to be polite and not laugh out.
"Can you sing?" I asked Seto. I hadn't really thought to ask before, but why not?
"Oh----well, I don't know. I haven't really demonstrated my voice for anyone before."
"Well, no time like the present, huh?" I said jokingly, nudging him gently in the side. "Come on, hum a few bars of something for us."
"Yeah, Kaiba!" Joey urged. "Sing somethin'!" The others murmured agreement. Seto looked a bit shy still.
"Seto, with that sexy a speaking voice, that gives me delightful shivers every time you talk, you've got to have a wonderful singing voice, too," I said sweetly, smiling at him. "And even if you don't sound like a star of the Met, I still think you're sexy as hell."
"Aww." Tea said, and the others looked at her strangely. "What?" she replied. "It's sweet!"
"Well, I don't listen to that much music, so I don't know a lot of songs," Seto explained.
"Do you know 'Amazing Grace'?" I asked. "That's a pretty easy one to sing." He nodded in reply, but looked a bit doubtful.
"I don't know----I may not know the notes that well."
"Aw, hell, everyone knows that one, Kaiba," Joey said reassuringly. "It's all right. Sing for us."
After a few seconds, Seto actually started to sing! I sat there, mesmerized, as I heard the mellow, soft baritone pour from his lips, singing the melody in a perfect F major.
"~Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound~
~That saved a wretch like me~
~I once was lost, but now am found~
~Was blind, but now I see.~" He turned to look at me when he sung the third and fourth lines of the first verse, and I smiled broadly.
When he finished singing the first verse, everyone sat silent and still for a moment, spellbound. Then, slowly, Yugi began to clap, followed by everyone else.
"Holy shit," Tristan said appreciatively. "That was awesome!"
"Yeah," Yugi added in his normal soft-spoken tone. "Are you sure you've never sung before?"
"Well---" Seto blushed a little. "Only in the shower sometimes, but not often."
"Your singing voice is amazing, Seto," I said, making an obvious pun on the song title.
"Well, I don't have as much experience as you do in singing, but thank you." He sounded so sweet and really grateful for the compliments.
"Whoa, you sing too?" Joey asked, his eyes widening. "Is there anything you don't do?"
"Well, like I told y'all before," I said with a teasing smile, "the only thing I know how to do with technology is to fuck it up. Better not let me near your computers, Seto---I've been known to make 'em crash." I burst into laughter at my own ineptness, and he cringed.
"I hope you're not as bad as you make yourself out to be," he said, but with a wink that meant he knew I was exaggerating. I laughed a little in response.
"Well, if you sing, can you sing something for us too?" Yugi asked shyly.
"Yeah! Free concert!" Joey and Tristan chimed in,
"Oh, sure," I said lightly, and started to sing one of my favorite songs that I had learned in chorus one year, but pitching it a little lower to suit my alto range.
"~My life flows on in endless song~
~Above earth's lamentation~
~I hear the real though far-off hymn~
~That hails a new creation.~
~Above the tumult and the strife~
~I hear its music ringing~
~It sounds an echo in my soul~
~How can I keep from singing?~"

I finished singing and sat back a little. This time, Mokuba showed his appreciation first.
"Wow, that was really pretty. You can sing good." Everyone else nodded and murmured agreement.
"What is that song, by the way?" Yugi asked. "It has a really beautiful melody."
"It's one I learned in eighth grade called 'How Can I Keep From Singing?'. I've always liked it because of the soaring quality that the music has. It's somehow calming and gentle, but still very powerful. Music, contrary to popular belief, doesn't have to be played as loud as possible to be effective and powerful."
"That kind of sounds like my dueling strategy," Yugi said. "Brute strength only goes so far----some power comes from unexpected places."
"Now try telling Kaiba that," Tristan joked, rolling his eyes playfully. "He's all about power and beating the hell out of his opponents with just strength."
"Well," I interjected, seeing that Seto's eyes had cooled and were now staring at Tristan with controlled anger, "I believe he's already experienced the power of soft music on the soul. I played his song for him this morning, and I think it really affected him in a positive way." I looked over at him, and he nodded.
"So that was you I heard this morning!" Mokuba said, his face lighting up. "I was telling everyone that I heard someone playing the piano this morning, but it didn't sound like Seto's style of playing."
"You'll have to play for us sometime," Tristan said. "Mokuba said it was really cool."
"It was, at that," Seto said in a slightly dreamy tone. "Her music is----unbelievable."
"Aw, thanks!" I said, feeling a little proud of my accomplishments and honored for getting such high praise.

Tea glanced down at her watch. "Wow, I can't believe so much time has passed----it's almost midnight."
Yugi looked up. "Really?" He sighed. "I guess that means I should get going. I have to help Grandpa in the game shop tomorrow----all day, and you guys know what that means." His shoulders slumped a little.
"You mean backbreaking work all day?" Joey kidded, nudging Yugi's leg playfully.
"Unfortunately," Yugi said wearily, and Joey laughed.
"Don't worry, me and Tristan'll come over and help you pass the time."
"Me, too," Tea added. "Except I'll actually help Yugi instead of lazing around all day like some people I know," she said, pointedly looking at Joey and Tristan, who visibly shrunk under her gaze.
"All right! All right," Tristan said, holding up both hands in surrender. "We'll help, too! Geez!"
"Good," Yugi said brightly. "Work'll go a lot faster if my friends are helping." Slowly they rose from their comfortable positions; Joey stretched and Tea suddenly yawned.
"Bye, you guys," she said through her yawn. "And thanks for being so nice to us tonight, Kaiba. You're pretty cool now." She waved and proceeded to leave.
"Yeah, you're all right, Kaiba," Joey said, shrugging a little. He turned towards the door slightly and waved over his shoulder. "See ya later!" he called as he followed Tea out.
"Really, thanks so much, Kaiba," Yugi said genuinely.
"No trouble at all," replied Seto calmly, and Yugi waved a shy goodbye to all of us.
Tristan was the last to leave----he seemed to be waiting on the rest of the group to leave before he said any goodbyes.
"Um, well, I guess I'll see you around, Robin," he said, casting his eyes down ad shoving his hands in his pockets.
"Sure," I replied brightly.
"Uh---oh, and thanks for letting us stay awhile, Kaiba." A silence between the three of us hung for a while. Mokuba finally spoke, which shattered it.
"Well, big brother, I'm gonna go upstairs to sleep, OK?" he said, hopping off the couch cheerfully.
"Sure, Mokuba. Good night," Seto replied gently.
"Sweet dreams," I added as Mokuba left the room. I could hear him bounding up the steps to the second floor, and I sighed.
"He's a good kid," I said with a nod.
"He's a pretty good little brother, I'll give him that." A genuine smile appeared on Seto's face, making him look quite benevolent and gentle. Neither of us had realized that Tristan was paused at the door, still debating over whether to say something, if my people-reading skills were correct.
"Something more, Tristan?" I asked, with a little concern.
"Uh---well---" He stuttered and fell silent, and shuffled his feet. "I guess not really, but----"
"I know you want to say something," I said, trying to coax him into saying what he was thinking.
"I just----I have to apologize for being so dumb around you guys," he said, directing his comment to both of us. I, for one, was shocked.
"Dumb?" I questioned him.
"Well----I didn't say anything, but----I had a little trouble accepting that you liked Kaiba, 'cause I just wasn't seeing what was so attractive. No offense, Kaiba," he added quickly, being careful not to piss anybody off.
"None taken, Tristan." Seto seemed pretty calm and cool now.
"Anyway, like I said, I was just being dumb, and I saw tonight that your judgment of Kaiba is the right one----which is to say that I think you're OK, Kaiba." A sheepish look passed over Tristan's face, and he sighed. "Just had to get that off my chest."
"Well, thanks for the apology," I said brightly, "though I didn't know that one was really needed. But you're very kind, Tristan."
"Yeah." He turned towards the front door. "I----guess I'll see you guys later." He started to walk out, but Seto called to him.
"Tristan?"
"Yeah?" He turned back to face us.
"Thanks for saying that." I could tell by the tone of Seto's voice and his expression that the sentiment was genuine. Tristan looked surprised, but shook it off.
"You're welcome," he said softly, and then left.
