Chapter 1---The Death of Millions
I was in a strange area of the land I had come to know as 'Dreamworld.' It was a mystical, mysterious place full of secrets, all of which I had yet to discover. I don't know how I got here or why I was even here to begin with. All I knew was that this wasn't home, and that something was wrong.
My name is Seto Kaiba, and although I don't believe in magic tricks, I will admit one thing. This was real. Somehow or other, the things that happened in this 'Dreamworld' were real as though I was awake. It shocked me to the core, and though I told nobody about this 'Dreamworld,' my mind flooded with questions on whether I should be really understanding the importance of this place. It was a realm, lest my imagination deceive me. It was a realm full of things that the mind should not know, but I already knew too much.
You may be wondering what this 'Dreamworld' that I visit every night is like. There are five glass towers on a crystal island. The island floats in the sky, which is made up of teal mist that adds an eerie mixture to the blue sunlight. The glass reflects on one another, and form a pentagram in the center. I'm not a religious person, mind you, but it still scared me. I had never entered any of the buildings for fear or something coming out and stabbing me to death, but soon that would all change. For now, I stayed outside and took in my surroundings.
As I stepped onto the crystal pentagram in the center, a feeling of deja vu hit me. I didn't know why, but somehow I remember doing something here the exact same way. It didn't surprise me, however, since this was 'Dreamworld.' As I slowly turned around to see what was going on, I quickly spotted something near one of the towers. I couldn't see it, however, because of the teal mist that surrounded the area. I didn't know whether to follow it or not. Deciding it was better than just standing there, I slowly walked toward the thing. But when I reached it, it disappeared into nothing, along with everything else. Suddenly, I was floating in blinding light, not knowing where to go. My eyes went wide; my heart sped up. What was going on?
And as quickly as it happened, it stopped. I was slowly placed down on solid crystal floor in a burgundy and black room. Instead of a pentagram in the middle of the floor like outside, there was an egyptian coffin carved into the crystal flooring. I looked around to see paintings of people dying, of death itself, and of what looked like purgatory.
"What is this place?" I thought to myself. Not much usually scared me, but this was a level of horror in itself. There were tools that were used in Egyptian ages for dissection, medical, and worst of all, torture, hanging around the entire room. I was about to look for an exit when something caught my eye. It was a painting of the Pharoah, who happened to somehow look like Yugi. I slowly walked up to it and touched it, making sure it was real. But I didn't want it to be real. Far from it.
What the picture showed shocked me but was also humorous in a grotesque way. It showed the Pharoah torturing three prisoners with some of the devices which were laid about on the walls surrounding me. The prisoners were bleeding, begging, and worst of all, suffering at the hands of this high and mighty Pharoah.
The first thing I thought was, "See? He wasn't so great!" But as I looked at the painting, something else was showing through the paints used in the canvas. Fear. I soon realized what this meant. These weren't his only prisoners he tortured. I looked around the room, looking again at all the devices. They weren't medical at all. They were ALL torture devices.
My mind went into a frenzy. This wasn't the place to be at all. But something else clicked. All of Yugi's friends, including himself, thought the Pharoah was a man of peace and kind-heartedness. But...did they know of THIS Pharoah? This cruelty? As I put piece by piece together, the room slowly began to disappear, replaced by the blinding light which had surrounded me what seemed like forever ago. Finally, I was completed surrounded, when I heard a familiar voice. "Seto, honey?" asked a familiar voice. It was Lucia! Everything around me was engulfed in the blinding light. I cried out to Lucretia, or as I called her Lucia, but she wasn't there. Nobody was there. Soon, I gave in and everything around me turned to darkness.
