She Who Solved the Puzzle

Chapter 3: Aftermath of the Building

The bright light that surrounded the young man soon vanished, then the puzzle laid down next to him. Liz crouched down near the door as soon as she heard his masculine voice. She hid in the darkness where the bright moonlight didn't shin. The young man took note and spoke again.

"Are you the one who solved the puzzle?" he crossed his arms.

"Yes…" Liz whispered.

" Come into the light. I wish to see your appearance in the moonlight." He cocked an eyebrow as soon as he heard body movement sway in the darkness. Liz stood up and took a deep breath, walked down her porch steps and looked straight into his eyes. The young man took a step back and seemed a little upset.

"You're a woman!" he yelled." How did a woman get a hold of my millennium puzzle?" he asked in haste.

"Well I don't even know that myself. Someone sent it to me by mail," he cocked an eyebrow again and she chose her words carefully to explain," You know M-A-I-L. Where someone sends you something and you receive it?," he nodded,"Anyway, whats wrong with being a female? What you don't like girls or something?" she developed courage and put her hand on her hip and she of course got upset.

"Its not that! Women are weak!" he took another step forward to her." They would whine, cry, stay silent, do woman's work and complain about that! The only thing they are good for are for being servants and whores!" Liz grunted and went up to him (wait for it..wait for it…) SLAP! AND A PUNCH IN THE ABDOMAN! He went down on the ground with pain.

"Who knew that you crazy spirits like you have your own physical body!" she looked him with disgust. "Listen you dumbass mutha fucking spirit! I don't know where you came from but from judging from that puzzle," she pointed to it that was on the floor next to him," You had shit done to you back in Egypt or something. Well that was your civilization! Welcome to mine!" she went up to his face as he was trying to get his breath back." In this day and age women do the men's work and some men actually like doing women's work! We are all equal, ya dumb fuck! Get the picture." She stood up." This isn't your timeline anymore. Things change and for the better! Welcome to the world of advanced technology!" She yelled at him! "Keep talking shit like that everywhere you go you're gonna get yo ass kicked by the whole female species." She said in her normal voice.

She walked over the puzzle and picked up, glanced at it, and turned her eyes back at the boy trying to get up. "Call this a wild guess…but … if you want to survive in this world, you better watch what you say around me and the people of today. Probably since I solved the puzzle, I'm the only one you can trust. How sad!" she giggled evilly," You having to spend time with me…this I gotta see for myself. Am I right spirit of the puzzle?" she smirked at him.

He grunted of course. 'She is right! Did women become more intelligent while I was sleeping? ARGH!' he coughed and stood up from the ground. " ::cough:: Yes you are right! By Ra, can you hit!" He rubbed his abdomen while he took a deep breath and looked over Liz." Are you sure you're a girl?" He looked at her only to find an angry face. "I'm gonna let that slide… but answer my question…do you need me to live?" she said bluntly.

"Sadly yes… I can't believe I'm stuck with a girl! And with you!" he pointed to her. 'If it were to be a female why not a nice girl?' "Well sorry! Its not like I asked for a spirit in the puzzle anyway! Geeze!" she turned around and crossed her arms. "What's your name anyway, Spirit?" she causally asked. He walked over to her and turned her around leaving his hands on her shoulders. " My name is Yami. What pra tell is yours?" he smirked.

"Its Liz. Get your hands off of me." she said and he did but still smirking. "Fine." They stayed like that staring at each other for a few seconds till…

/God damn! He's an asshole! What a jerk!/

Yami jerked up his head. "What's wrong YAMI? Call of the dead put you on hold?" Liz spat at him.

"No, you rude GIRL. I think I just heard you call me and asshole and a jerk?" he said with question. Liz gasped.

"Oh hellz nah! You just didn't read my thoughts did you? Please say no…" she said with anxiousness. "I'm afraid so. I'll be reading the thoughts of a rude girl."

"Can I read yours?" she asked quickly.

"Most likely." He sighed.

"Ahhh shit! This means I'm stuck with ya huh?" she asked as if dreading the answer.

"Damn. Looks like I am." He sighed again. He turned into a sphere of light and headed towards the puzzle then vanished. "Eeeeeeeeee! I'm gonna have to get used to that…grrrrr…." She almost dropped the puzzle of that whole light ball act.

/God damn…what time is it?/

//Its very late and you must be off to bed.//

/Oh so now you're my mother!?/ She shot at him.

//I must take care of my host body. So sorry for looking out for you!//

/Host body! Grrrrr…I live in this body too so get used to it!/

She went back inside her house and into her room. She flopped down on her bed and checked her clock. /Ahhhhh…damn time is slow…. only 11:00pm. And I still have school tomorrow. Ehhhhhhh/ she closed her eyes.

//What's school?// Yami asked.

/Its where one teacher teaches a minimum of 20 kids of a certain level of intelligence also known as grade level. You wake up early leave for 8 hrs and come home and do the work they want you to do at home. I have five classes and each one dedicated to one particular subject and you spend an hour in each of them./

//Oh sounds easy enough. How many people are there in your classes?//

Liz was getting ticked off because she wasn't asleep yet. /There are at least 45 in all my classes. I never really counted except for English class. That only has like 25 people./

//I see. I would like to go to school with you tomorrow.//

/No. You won't./

//Why not?! I want to know the civilization of this world has been since I have been sealed!//

/Aye fine! You can come just stop bitching and let me sleep!/

//I was not 'bitching'. I was merely persuasive. Thank you…Goodnight…LIZ…// He said.

/Yeah! Whatever! Night…YAMI./ she went to sleep.

Liz is walking around in a black room. "Where the hell is this? Am I dreaming?" she said aloud. She walks up, but then two doors appear on the side of her. One on her left and one on her right. A door was open that was lighted up and had her name on it. "Elizabeth" is what is says, and then she entered. It has everything that she likes from anime to her stuff of school to clothes and videogames. Even some things from her childhood that she really loves up to this day. A bed was in the middle of the room that was pretty big. She looked all around, up and down to see this room of hers that she immediately started to like. She went over to her bed and laid down on it facing the roof. "What is this place?"

"You know you actually looked gentle when you stepped into your soul room." A voice chuckled from the doorway.

Liz stood upright position quickly."Huh! Oh Yami! Damn don't do that shit please!" She got her act together. "And what do you mean soul room? What the fuck is that?"

Yami sighed and stepped into her room." This, my dear hostess, is a soul room. You have had one but haven't really noticed it till now. It's a place where your soul can be at peace and remember things you want to remember." He walked over to her bed and sat a little away from her legs.

"Oh. So how come I now noticed it?" she asked.

"Its because two souls are occupying one body." He replied.

"Oh. Since we share my body…'though that really doesn't sound right' can you take over it and my body will look like yours?"

"Damn women are getting smart. Yes you're right."

"Well damn…can I see yours then?" Liz questioned.

"Not now. Maybe some other time." He got up and headed toward the door.

"Psh. Fuck it. Laters. See you in a few hours." She snuggled into her bed and fell asleep.

Yami looked back and then went to his soul room and fell on his bed. It was just a four-wall room with statues, hieroglyphics craved into the walls and his bedposts were covered in gold. "She looks almost at peace when she's asleep. Since she solved the puzzle…THEN THAT MEANS SHE'S THE CHOSEN ONE? RA DAMNIT!" he yelled in his mind and covered a blanket over his head. He smirked and shook his head and went to sleep.

The next morning…

::singing:: "Rick Dees in the morning! CLICK" the radio alarm clock was shut off once again by a very cranky girl. /Another day…Another SCHOOL day…fuuuuck!/ . Liz thought. //Its about time you woke up. Not only you are rude but you are also very lazy.// the ancient spirit said.

/Oh what the fuck? Damnit I thought it was a dream. Dis shit is real!/ she now got a hold of reality.

//Yes this is real. Now get up and get dressed. I don't want you to be late for school//

/Smartass./

//Thank you. Now up you go and get ready. Call me when you arrive.// He closed the link.

'Jerk.' She whispered. "I don't wanna go to school. He better not see me change!" she said as if to receive a response. She dug into her closet and wore another pair of raver's pants but it was blue denim and grabbed for a white t-shirt and a line pattern button shirt. /Yami can you what I'm doing?/ there was no reply. 'Hmmm… guess not.' She quickly changed and combed her hair into a ponytail and was out of her room. The same routine happened once again. Going to school with her friend and getting dropped of at school. //::sigh:: Hey Yami! We're here!/ she called to him forcing the mental block open.

//Well this is uh…great… look at all the people going to school. Why in my day there were very few children who can go get their education. I had a private tutor.//

/Well good for you, rich boy. Now time for the first class./ she said as she walked into the large building. /Now don't expect much happening this first two weeks but later on you'll get the idea how this school thing works. I'll explain the whole thing when we get home today./

//Alright let's get to it.// and so the first day of school began for the both of them.

Two hours and classes later, was the first break of the day called Nutrition.(A/N: Or brunch whatever you call it.) Liz went to her locker to leave her folders and get different ones. //Why do you have so many of these 'folders'?//

/Because I have five different classes so each one has a folder for that class. I keep the ones I don't need here in this locker./ she replied putting back a folder and getting a new one.//These lockers are everywhere! Do all these people use them?//

/Yeah. Each one with a different combination to open every single one of them./

//I see. So what time of class is right now?//

/No class right now. It's a sixteen minute break to get breakfast and do your thing for a while./

//::ahem:: You're thing?// Liz was walking down stairs and out to the lunch area where her other friends will be.

/Yami… as time passes on you will catch on to the lingo of today./ she smiled.

//Lingo? I hope you're right if lingo does mean language.// Liz laughed it off to herself as she met up with her friends.

After nutrition another class has begun and Liz chooses a seat in the back of the class. //Weird chairs… or desks? Anyway this timeline is very different and advanced. I don't think I can cope. And to top it all off your time sounds way to dangerous./ said a worried Yami.

/Don't worry yourself scarddy cat. Like I said before, as long as you got me to teach you about the 21st century, then you have nothing to worry about. Heck since I like a little bit of American History , I'll even teach you some of that. I'll let you know of all the new dangers you should know about too…/ Liz drifted off.

// I see. Things have changed in my day…Are you al right?// he asked in concern.

/Why Yami? Concerned for the rude girl all of sudden? That's so nice of you./ she smirked as she laid her head on her desk closing her eyes.

//Quiet you. I just don't want you to get sick of stress that these tutors give you.// he quickly replied.

/Hmmm..right…/ she let it go and as she was about to fall asleep the bell rang. /God damn it./ she got up and grabbed for her backpack and went out of the door. Yami was chuckling since Liz was cranky today.

After the third, forth and fifth class was over, Liz was glad that her day was over and was about to leave. She showed the security person of the school her ID and left. //Liz why did you have to show that person your card?//

Liz went down the steps of the school and walked to the end of the parking lot crossing the street waiting by the sidewalk for her mother. /They check on my identification card to see that I'm allowed to leave early from school cause for other people who cant do this they have one more class here then its over for them, so they know I'm not leaving the premises without permission./

//That's strict. But very well disciplined.//

/I guess./

//So why don't you have a class over here?//

/Its cause I have my last class somewhere else later this afternoon and since that's my last class, I don't so they take one away here./

//Oh.//

They got home and they went to her room. Yami got a little jumpy just because he hasn't seen a dog that barks so loud and that looked like a giant size rat. (But she is so cute. Half Pomeranian/Chihuahua. Very cute mix.) Liz closed the door and soon after Yami came out of the puzzle. She sat on her chair, facing Yami who was sitting on her bed.

"Ok, what is the deal?" she asked bluntly.

"Deal?" Yami questioned.

"You know. Tell me everything you know and how you got into that puzzle! Tell me what the hell happened!" She demanded.

"Alright alright! Rude girl you will know everything." He snorted." Ok. This is what happened…"

Moments later…

"…and that's what happened AND that's what we have to do." He finished. (A/N: You wont know what they will do until later chapters. =)

Liz was had her mouth open and her eyes wide open. "You're kidding me right? You're telling me that the only reason that I could solve the puzzle is because I'm the so called chosen one?" she pointed to herself.

"That's right. And don't forget that there are other millennium items out there that can hold other spirits." He mentioned.

Liz got up, took a deep breath and let out a big sigh. "Well damn. Uh…damn." Liz sat next to Yami on her bed still shocked. " So uh…um… how do we go back in time?" she asked. "Only time will tell but it will happen soon enough. " He closed his eyes and disappeared into the puzzle.//Now do your 'thing' so I can observe you.//

/Now that's just fucking creepy Yami./ she got up from her bed and started working on her computer.

//I learn better if I watch you work some of this advanced technology contraptions. So I can learn at least the basics.//

/Fine fine. Keep your Pharaoh highness ass on!/ she went to work on reading fanfiction on the internet.

Later in the afternoon she explained a little bit of what college is like and the different ones out there to Yami. Her mom dropped her off and she went to class. //So what class is this?//

/This is my Astronomy class. It's a class about the study of space./ she went into the classroom and chose a chair in the back.

//Very interesting subject. I guess you really like them huh?//

/That I do./ she replied.

A couple of hours later the class was over. Her mom picked her up and headed home. //You seem distracted right now. What's the matter?//

/Oh nothing just thinking about my life like I always do and how people affect me. I do that a lot./

//All right then. Talk to me if you ever want to.//

Liz picked her head up and smiled. /Worried again Yami? Now this is good. Someone worrying about me? Ha! That's a laugh./

//Well it seems that we will be together for a while so lets be on good terms right now.//

/Agreed. Its just that you're not usually asked to save a person's past I guess./ she said staring out the window. /When I get to sleep, I'll give you the whole thing of what has happened these past years, and how you have to be more cautious of yourself since this world has become more dangerous./

//Ok.//

Soon after they got home once again, and of course they went into her room. Liz closed the link for a while so she could change, combed her hair and put it into a braid. After she was done, she went to her bed and flopped down on it and went to sleep. They started discussing about the world in her soul room. It took so many hours just from what happened to his time up to now. Talking about the fall of all pharaohs of Egypt, the appearance of Moses, the Hebrews finding peace, other religions, how the United States was formed, and how the world was and now compared to the 1900's to right 2003. She even told him all about WWI, WWII including Vietnam to the current situation back on September 11th 2001. She showed him pictures of everything she could from past events. How people change and that everyone who does things of evil is usually due to greed, lust, or just plain evil. But she even explained the lighter things of the world. How even up to this day that the pyramids were still standing. Yami was particularly astonished by that. She told him that one day they would visit Egypt. He was even more astonished as he heard her talk about amusement parks and their roller coasters, movies, computers, trends, styles, toys, games, television, cell phones, telephones, heck you name it he was hooked on today's world. After she was done talking for what seemed like forever, she went to sleep without even realizing it and Yami soon left for his soul room.

"Oh my Ra how this world has changed. I just hope that soon I will go back to mine. I will save you Simon and all of Egypt." He whispered and soon fell asleep.
