Interrogation
Kaemwaset bowed in front of the pharaoh. “My pharaoh, I have come with troubling news. The Millennium Necklace, worn by my son's wife, has been stolen.”
“Stolen?! By whom?”
“My son, Marik Ishtar and the rogue Bakura Osiris Itemri.”
Yami narrowed his eyes and growled. “Not them again!!”
“My son punched me in the jaw while Bakura was with Isis. Isis claims she had given the Millennium Necklace to Bakura, and that she was not harmed.”
“Why did that foolish woman give it to him?! Does she not comprehend the power within those Items?”
Kaemwaset nodded. “She does, my lord, but she said that Bakura was destined to obtain it and hide it.”
Yami growled. “I should have killed that thief when I had the chance! I should have driven a blade straight through his heart!”
“Isis claims that she gave it to Bakura willingly. She was concerned about its power being abused, that is what she told me.”
“BRING HER TO ME!”
Kaemwaset nodded. “I've brought her with me to explain to you personally why she would be so foolish and give that rogue the Millennium Necklace.”
Kaemwaset stood up and went for the door. Isis Ishtar was a beautiful young woman in her mid-twenties. Her long, ebony hair stood against her white robe decorated in gold.
Yami clenched his fists. “Woman, explain yourself this instant! Tell me why you would give Bakura Itemri the Millennium Necklace!”
Isis looked up at Yami calmly. “It was his destiny to hide it.”
“Do you have any idea what powers that Necklace wields?”
Isis nodded. “Yes, my pharaoh, and I do not wish to see its powers abused.”
Yami stood up and walked calmly to the woman. “Are you saying that I would abuse its powers?”
Isis looked into the pharaoh's purple eyes. “Any person can abuse power….even the Nobility and the Royalty.”
Kaemwaset jumped back as Yami slapped Isis across the face hard. The echo resounded through the throne room.
“Don't take that tone with me, woman!”
Isis rubbed her red cheek. “I speak only the truth.”
“Are you saying I am a person like you? No, Ms. Ishtar. I am God. I am God's representative here on Earth! If you are speaking to me, you are speaking to Ra himself!” Isis opened her mouth to speak. “Hold your tongue, you foolish female!”
Kaemwaset wiped his forehead. “I was lucky to escape that encounter with Bakura alive! He was going to slit my throat! As you can see, that bastard cut my cheek! He was going to kill me, my pharaoh!”
Yami narrowed his eyes. “I will raise the bounty on Bakura's head. I will also raise the price on your son's head, too. Nobody makes a fool out of the Nobility…..”
Kaemwaset bowed his head. “Thank you, my pharaoh.”
“When your son and Bakura are captured, we will behead them publicly for defying me.”
Kaemwaset swallowed hard. “Behead my boy?”
“Yes. His head will be severed when we catch him. You yourself will hold his head up to the crowd and set an example for every criminal in Cairo that the Aristocracy will not tolerate thieves!”
“Marik is not my son. I disowned him. He's no longer my flesh and blood for running off with a simple peasant girl. According to myself, Marik is already dead. My son is dead to me, my lord. Kill him if you wish.”
Yami grinned. “His head will be speared and stuck by the Nile as a sign to all. His body will make good food for the jackals.”
“As I said, my boy is already dead to me. He betrayed the Ishtar name, the Nobility, and myself. I have no more place for him in my life.”
Yami grinned. “Marik will die along with Bakura. Ammut will devour their souls.”
Isis looked Yami in the eyes. “You will not get your chance, my pharaoh.”
“I've had enough of your tongue, woman! Out of my sight before I slit your throat!”
Isis calmly bowed and left the room.
Kaemwaset bowed. “Inform me when my son is to be killed.”
“I will.”
“Praise be to you, Pharaoh Yami.”
Kaemwaset left the pharaoh alone.
“I long to see Bakura and Marik's blood spill on the ground. That is how I will bring peace to Egypt. But first, I have a little business to attend to.”

Yami approached Anubis during the training exercises. “Anubis, was it Aten who accompanied Seth and Rayna yesterday outside the palace?”
Anubis nodded. “Yes.”
“Where is he? I want to get more information from him.”
Anubis pointed towards the barn. “He's locked in his room.”
“Someone has broken into the secret library and has destroyed valuable documents. I have a suspicion that the boy in your care is responsible.”
“Was he seen committing the act?”
“I need to see for myself. Where is the brat?”
Anubis lead Yami through the barn to the back door. “He's locked in here every night.” Anubis unlocked the door and found Aten gasping for breath on the floor.
“Brat! The pharaoh is here! Stand up and pay your respects!”
Aten struggled to his feet and bowed. Yami approached the child and put his hand on Aten's skull.
“Such a good little boy,” Yami grinned, petting the obedient, motionless child.
“Come with me, Aten.”
Aten looked up at Yami with alarm in his large, purple eyes. Saying no or pleading always fell on deaf ears. There was no pleading for mercy with the pharaoh.
***************************
Aria was outside washing Seth's robes. She talked with the women and giggled when they told her how pretty she was becoming.
Rayna smiled proudly, certain that if Bakura could hear the women, he would be smiling like a creator proud of his creation.
Aria brushed her long white spiky hair behind her shoulders as she cleaned Seth's robe.
“Aria Kanika….”
Aria turned and saw the pharaoh standing behind her. She quickly dropped Seth's robe in the washing basin. “What do you want?”
Yami narrowed his eyes. “Bow before me, girl!”
Aria narrowed her eyes and bowed her head, but kept her eyes on the pharaoh.
“You will come with me.”
“What do you want with her?” Rayna asked quickly.
“You do not question me! I will take her where I want!”
Rayna stepped back as Yami grabbed Aria's wrist.
“SETH! SETH! YAMI'S GOT ME! HELP!”
Rayna bit her lip and quickly ran for Aria's other arm. “My pharaoh, you cannot take her!”
Yami narrowed his eyes and removed a dagger from his belt. “SILENCE!”
Yami growled as he whipped around and stabbed Rayna in the shoulder.
Rayna let out a wail of pain as she released her daughter. The other women surrounded her as they tried to place pressure on the wound to stop the bleeding.
“MOMMY! NO!” Aria cried out.
Yami tugged on the child's arm and pulled her roughly. “You will come with me. I will get an answer out of you if it is the last thing I do!”
Yami pulled Aria downstairs into the dungeon. Aria looked around at the people shackled to the walls. Some of the prisoners were already dead. Many were covered in bruises, sores, dried blood, and burns over most of their bodies. What she saw scared her into silence.
Aria pulled back on her arm, trying to break it from Yami's grip. The pharaoh tightened his hold on her and she stopped struggling. Yami dragged her to a room at the end of the hall.
Aten turned his head and saw Aria being pulled in. “Aria?!” Aten was laying face down on a wooden table. His arms were chained down as well as his legs.
“Aten!” Aria gasped as she tried more feverishly to pull away from her captor.
Yami picked Aria up by her collar and placed her on the table beside Aten. He tried pinning her down, but she clawed the pharaoh's skin as hard as she could.
“SETH! SETH! HELP!” Aria screamed loudly.
Aten struggled with his chains. “Don't harm her, pharaoh! I beg of you!”
Aria clenched her fist tightly and punched Yami in the chin. “I belong to Seth!”
Yami growled and held Aria's one arm down. With a struggle, he managed to put one arm in the manacle. “Tell me right now, you little brat! Did you or Aten break into my secret room?”
Aria narrowed her eyes and growled. “We don't know anything about it!”
Yami clenched his teeth. `That thief's blood runs through her veins…she's lying!'
Yami pinned Aria's other arm down as she faced up at him. “You are born of lying blood! You are a thieves little worthless seed! I should feed you both to those hungry dogs in that other dungeon!”
Aten's eyes widened. “No! Don't feed me to them! They ate Hamadi's body! I saw them! They chewed his arms and pulled his body apart!” Tears fell from Aten's eyes. “I saw them tear his eyeballs from his skull! They chewed on them and I saw the juices coming out of his eyes!”
“Seth will rescue me!”
“You may be the High Priest's servant girl, but you are still my property!”
Aria pulled and tugged, trying to pull her arms free. “Seth won't let anything happen to me!”
Yami grinned. “If he doesn't know you are here, then you are as good as dog food.”
“NO! PLEASE!” Aten pleaded. “I'll be good! I'll be good!”
“Did you break into my secret library, you little rat?!” Yami growled at Aten, pulling his head back.
“No! I promise to the gods I did no such thing!”
“I ought to slit your throat and cut out your lying tongue!” Yami growled, removing his dagger and placing the blade against Aten's adam's apple. “Tell me the truth or it will be the last breath you ever take!”
The eight-year-old boy cringed. “I promise I didn't break in there! I promise! I promise! Don't kill me! Don't kill me! Please! Don't kill me! I don't want to die! I don't want to die!”
“SETH! HELP! SETH!” Aria cried out.
Yami looked into the purple eyes of the cringing boy, fearing for his life. “Last chance, little dead boy. Tell me where you took Seth and Rayna yesterday. Where did you go?”
Aten swallowed hard. “I…I cannot tell. I promised.”
Yami narrowed his eyes. “I have little patience. Tell me now or you will die!”
Tears flowed from Aten's eyes. The dogs in the other dungeon cell barked and snarled and howled.
“I don't want to be dog food,” he whimpered.
“Aten didn't break in, pharaoh!”
“Then maybe you did, you little wench!” Yami growled, releasing the boy and grabbing her collar roughly. “Did you sneak in there, you little thief?”
“No! I swear I didn't! Neither did Aten!”
“YOU BOTH LIE! I should toss you both to those dogs! They will rip you two apart in a matter of seconds!”
Aten clenched his fists. “I'm gonna die…I'm gonna die…”
“Where did you go with Aten, Seth, and Rayna, Aria?”
“I'm not telling you!”
“You both need to die.”
Aria struggled again. “SETH! SETH!”
“Maybe a few days without food will break your spirits! Maybe then you will fear me!” Yami sneered, standing up. “That is what I will do. Four days without food or water. That will change your tunes.”
Yami turned and locked the door behind him. Yami turned and saw Seth running towards the door.
“My pharaoh! What have you done?”
“Your servant girl is not to be freed. She is to remain in this dungeon for four suns. I know it was she who broke into my secret library. I will prove it.”
Seth shook his head. “She didn't break into the library, sire. She has no knowledge of it.”
“She is to remain inside that room. No food or water will pass her lips for four suns. If I find anyone feeding her or that boy, they will be beheaded immediately by my hand.”
“Boy?”
“Aten.”
“That boy knows nothing of the secret library either! Why are you punishing those children? There are other members of the Nobility and the Royal Family who know about the secret library. Why are you singling them out and punishing little children for knowledge which they do not have?”
Yami narrowed his eyes. “My reasons. The children will not eat for four suns.” Yami held out his hand. “High Priest, give me your key.”
“What?”
“Give me your key to the room to ensure that my desires are carried out.”
Seth reluctantly handed Yami his key.
Yami grinned and clutched the key in his hand. “Don't worry, High Priest. The children will tell me everything with a little ….persuasion.”
****************************
Aria's ears perked up. “I hear Seth!”
Aria listened to Seth and Yami's conversation. “I hate that pharaoh! I can't believe he's going to leave us here with no food or water for a week!”
Aria struggled with her chains. “I'm not telling him anything, Aten! He can do anything he wants! Seth won't let me die!”
The dogs beside the door continued to bark and snarl.
“Stupid pharaoh. He's going to get what's coming to him! Right, Aten?.......Aten?”
Aria looked beside her and saw the boy had fainted.
