Chapter 11: Like Her
Hot like fire
Cold like ice
She is my queen
She is my life
Two faced like a mirror
No identity like unnamed soldiers
She is a shadow
She is a mystery
Cruel like the darkness that kills
Sharp like the steel on the blade
She is my killer
She is my salvation
Dead and alive again,
She is the walking dead,
Plundering from living men,
She survives through the new age…
To kill the ones she hates and to suffocate the lights bright rays…
Like a sunset she is beautiful
Like a fire she has spirit
She is the daughter of the Hell's
She is Ma'at.
Like the Universe she and I are one.
Ryou Bakura 28/03/05
The hot sun beat down on the citizens of Egypt only one person seemed immune to the heat. She had long raven hair, starling dark brown eyes, and a beautiful figure hidden behind white cloth. This woman wore a glamour of a living human to suite her needs. Of course she would have no problem moving around seeing as she had taken on the life of a mortal.
Earlier that day Ma'at had crawled her way through the small walls of her grave. Every step, every crouch, every breath filing her with rage. The tunnel was starting to shrink the closer she came to the surface world. `So…they had expected my return…foolish palace lackeys..' She closed her eyes and breathed in her chest heaving heavily as if trying to swallow air under water. Her eyes snapped open and the crimson orbs glowed as she called on a power all of the pharaoh's descendents received, Shadow Magic. The black smoke twirled around her like snakes, reaching into any and all cracks or holes left uncovered.
She flexed her shapely body and with her palm open pushed at the ceiling. The walls cracked under the force and finally gave away. From above you could see the sand jumping up into heights reached only by pyramids. From beneath the rubble the body emerged the dust and rocks that split her fair skin and caused scarlet drops to pour out. She grinned wickedly and took a step onto the boiling sand. She closed Ma'at closed her eyes and basked in the warm embrace of the sun.
Her minutes were being wasted as she stood there enjoying the feeling of life again and she had to force herself out of the peaceful slumber. Thinking things strategically through the started walking towards where she thought north to be. After many hours of toil she saw the far reaches of a city. As she had long suspected her home had changed since her early entombment. A sight that did comfort her where the large pyramids of Giza(2) that stood in the far distance. Using that as an example she guessed the Nile was somewhere near so she had to be in lower Egypt.(3)
Deciding she needed information she edged closer to the city. As she neared the busy streets she saw a woman run out of it obviously fuming. She slowed her walk and watched the woman for awhile. With closer inspection she could see that the woman had a strong body, charcoal hair, and dark brown eyes. She would do well, Ma'at decided as she approached the woman.
“Ah-” was all the woman could mutter before she slit her throat the crimson spilling across her white dress, the blotches quickly spreading.

She grinned wickedly and began to slice away at the woman being careful not to let too much blood spill as she slowly carved the woman. She pulled of the hair and the skin on the head of the woman and started to let the blood she had collected pool into it. She dug her knife under the eye of the woman and popped the eye out with a satisfying squelch and placed it into the blood. She plucked a strand of her own hair and placed it into the bowl made of the woman's head. As a last piece she placed her knife to the head of the woman and began to chisel away at the skull to gain access to the brain. At last she broke through, she dipped her knife in and drew out a lobe of the brain and placed it very carefully in the “cup”. She closed her eyes and once again called upon her shadow powers. The black smoke whirled around her as it lifted the “cup” from the ground mixing the ingredients and spilling them over Ma'at. As the drops touched her skin her form began to change to look like that of the woman she had slain.
Several minutes passed as the magic wound around her. At last she stood up and turned around inspecting her work…perfect…not only that but she now had all the knowledge that she would need to survive in this new world.
Ma'at looked at the body at her fete in disgust and gave it a slight kick. She sighed at the chore she had yet to complete, to rid the evidence. She drew out her knife and began to saw away at the woman, bones breaking and muscle splitting neatly at the touch of the blade the tendons snapping like tightly wound cords.
After the cutting of the body had been completed she, using her shadow powers, dug a hole to place the worthless pile of flesh and blood into. Making sure to carefully cover it she went on her way back towards the city.

So there she was, walking along the streets of Cairo. Without warning a young man came behind her and grabbed her arm roughly, she was about to retaliate but as she turned around the memory of her dead host kicked in. They were married…and he was her ticket closer to her targets.
“Look Chang…I'm sorry alright, please forgive me…let's go home,” he said in fluent Japanese.
“Chang” nodded and placed a quick kiss onto the man's cheek to appease him. She would complete her goal sooner then expected.
Back in Japan a silver manned boy sprang from his sleep in alarm. His insides churned as he remembered the strange and revolting dream he had had. He took a few shaky breaths and looked around him. He was not in the car where he had last remembered being nor was he in his own room or Bakura's. He must the at the Ishtar household.
“Glad to see you're awake,” a soft commanding voice said from next to the young boy.
As Ryou turned his head he saw Isis, Malik's sister, standing in the doorway to the room he was in.
“Uhm…hello Isis-sama,” Ryou said softly while bowing slightly.
Isis laughed softly and told Ryou not to bother with such titles, she was simply Isis. As Ryou's breath had recollected questions tumbled out of his mouth like a waterfall. He was in Malik's room and he had fallen asleep on the ride here. He had been asleep for a day as he had had a fever.
“Oh, I hope I wasn't a bother,” Ryou said alarmed that he might have caused delay in the woman's plans.
“No bother Ryou-san, I was only worried. The others were too. In any case I was about to send for you and the Pharaoh. We have important matters to discuss,” Isis said her eyes twinkling softly.
Ryou nodded and expressed his gratitude again. As Isis was walking out the door she turned her head and asked, “okay if I let some visitors in?”
Ryou's answer was a nod of his white head. As soon as the okay was given a tri-colored blur had attached himself to him. Sobbing into his white nightshirt, he noticed, was the innocent hikari known as Yugi.
“Oh Ra Ryou, are you okay?” he asked as he struggled to gather his breath.
“I'm fine Yugi, I was only exhausted,” Ryou said softly petting the teens locks.
With one more sniffle Yugi released his hold on his friend and stood back a little while wiping the tears onto his blue sleeve. He grinned weakly at Ryou who grinned back to appease his friend. Dear Yugi, always worrying about others before his own wellbeing. How lucky Yami must be to have a perfect hikari. Although Yugi was strong at heart and not in body he was still strong unlike Ryou who had nothing to offer.
“Isis wanted me to tell you that she needs us downstairs as soon as possible,” Yugi said with a grin.
Ryou nodded, “Tell her I'll be there in a moment.”
This time it was Yugi's turn to nod as his tri color locks bounced. Ryou let a small smile and sigh escape him as he watched his innocent and care-free friend bound to the door and down the stairs. He sighed deeply and scanned the room for his black book. To his great relief he found it lying next to him, untouched.
He smiled and gingerly picked up the leather binding. Opening it he pulled a pen out of the edge and began to write about the girl again. This poem he names `Like Her'.
“RYOU!” Bakura's loud voice echoed across the houses.
Rou sighed and placed the book into the drawer and grudgingly walked out the door and down the stairs.

Mistress: So how was it? I think it was a descent length. Anyway I stayed up all night last night working on a project and I still have some assignments given to me by someone ( and their overdue and I'm fretting) and some homework. My group dumped all the work on me so I'm going to bed….night.
(1)Again a difficult poem to write, ^__^;; I had some more trouble to make this one fit in, I hope the way it turned out is okay.
(2)These are a HUGE tourist attraction in Egypt and are in okay condition. Real places that I do not own. Not much jewelry was found because of tomb robbers.
(3)For reference sake lower Egypt is around Cairo(at least back when she was live)
