Mistress: ( dies of shock ) HOLY SHITAKI MUSHROOMS! 200 REVIEWS! ( dies of shock again ) Wow…..I feel loved…..( sniff )
Anyway I agree that the poem was a bit iffy but I had a little trouble with it. Oh an I'll be changing some of the poems to better ones when I become a better writer.
Answering questions:
I HAVE NOT given up on Common Ground, I've decided to finish this story first.
For the one-shot published, yeah I realize I was stupid and a bit unlogical when he died and Bakura didn't just take over control and I know I should somehow change that so sorry for that heh, ^__^0
Anyway here is a new chapter, some more flashcbacks oh and to clarify RYOU AND MA'AT ARE NOW CONNECTED ALL THE DREAMS MA'AT HAS RYOU HAS!
This chapter is longer then most of my chapters in celebration of the number of reviews.
Chapter 17: Make it go away
Your soul has lived through hell,
Through lies,
Your soul has pleaded,
Cried out to the skies,
The pain they've put you through,
I never knew,
The tears that have been shed,
You had no one left
I look back in history,
The blood that has been spilt at your feet,
The sharp sting of loneliness,
The flames that eat away at your body
I wish to take your worries away,
Although it feels like betrayal,
To hold you in my arms,
And silently to you say,
I love you,
Don't cry anymore,
You're safe now,
No more inner war.
Ryou Bakura 18,03,05(1)
Ryou had finished dressing himself and was walking down the stairs with the support of the wall. He had a massive headache from something and he had the constant feeling that something was trying to enter his mind. He shrugged it off and continued to walk downstairs. He smiled as he found Bakura in the living room watching TV. The tomb robber turned around to look at his lover. His face quickly developed a frown.
“Are you okay Ryou?” he asked standing up.
“Just fine,” Ryou replied not wanting to alarm the elder.
“You should go lie down, honestly after all this time you'd think that you would be able to take care of yourself properly,” Bakura said forcefully.
Ryou groaned and sighed knowing from experience that it was no use trying to argue with him. Although he wouldn't admit it to Bakura he did feel dizzy and would've loved to just lie down all day. He let himself day dream a bit, if he had to stay home he would've liked to sleep in Bakura's arms. Ryou shook his head, no he couldn't let himself bring his hopes up too much. Although his yami had seemed sincere years of living had made him slightly apprehensive. He reached the room he had been sleeping in and collapses onto the bed with a pout. Had he been concentrating he would've felt Bakura probe his mind and follow him. The white haired tomb robber walked over to the bed and scooped up Ryou in his arms, the action bringing a squeak out of Ryou. Bakura sat down on the bed and moved Ryou so that his head was on his shoulder.
“Bakura-sa, Bakura?” Ryou asked a blush complimenting his face.
“Just go to sleep,” Bakura said giving Ryou a small peck on the bridge of his nose.
Ryou grinned sleepily and moved up to kiss Bakura softly. He smiled contently and snuggled into the warm arms protecting him.
Two figures were seated outside of the palace walls in the hidden oasis. The boy was holding on tightly to the boy while silent tears leaked down her face. She hiccupped and buried herself deeper into the white haired boy. `Ryou' looked down at Ma'at forlornly.
“Do you really have to go?” Ma'at asked her eyes red from hours of crying.
`Ryou' didn't respond, instead he gently kissed her putting all his love into that moment. More tears erupted from her as she kissed back.
“Will you ever come back?” she asked her voice breaking.
“I will try, by the God's I will try,” `Ryou' replied brushing a few strands of hair away from Ma'at's face.
“Will you remember me? Love me even though we are apart?” she asked desperately clinging to him.
“Until the end of time my love,” `Ryou' responded passionately.
On the plane tears were slowly making their way down Ma'at's face and back in Japan Ryou was shedding tears as well. Bakura was baffled at why his hikari was crying but knowing Ryou was emotional he decided not to wake Ryou to find out.
Ma'at returned from the oasis trying to hide her tears as she slipped past the palace guards. She hiccupped and let herself drop into a corner. First her baby brother gets sick, then her father starts to act strange, and now her lover had to leave her. Why must these bad things always happen to her. The cool wind whipped around her as she continued to cry. After what seemed like hours she stood up on stiff legs and walked towards the main palace. With years of practice behind her she walked silently along the halls. That night another grievance was added to her list of burdens. She stopped next to her fathers meeting room after hearing voice in it.
“What do you mean only 99?” her father asked outraged.
“Sir, we only have 99, it seems that someone must've escaped,” a new voice said.
There was a grave silence in the room and Ma'at wondered what they were talking about.
“I'll be number 100,” the soft voice of her mother said.
“What? No, I absolutely forbid it!” she heard her father say.
“We need 100 people might as well be me to finish it, our people need this,” she said softly yet sternly.
Ma'at didn't have to understand what was going on to realize her mother was going to sacrifice herself. More tears sprang to her eyes, `no…this can't be happening'
“But……all right…I will make sure all of Egypt remembers your sacrifice,” she heard her father agree.
Scrambling away from the room she let more tears fall. If she were younger she would've ran straight to her nany but she hesitated as she thought of what to do. Deciding she was too distraught to care she ran to the servants rooms and found Nadia. The priestess looked up form her sewing surprised. Her face softened at the sight of her mistress. She opened her arms and beckoned the girl closer. They had become very close over the years. Although Ma'at had enjoyed the arrival of her little brother she couldn't help but feel slightly envious. Her mother had turned her complete attention to him as had her father, all she had left was Nadia.
Back in Japan Marik and Malik were returning from their afternoon walk. Malik had been sad at the loss of Bakura but accepted it nonetheless. Malik sighed and opened the door and hollered out that they were home. Receiving no responses the two started to explore around. Marik was first to find them.
“Hey we're back,” Marik said softly as not to wake Ryou.
Bakura looked up and nodded, removing himself from Ryou.
“How did Malik take it?” he asked.
“He's upset but okay,” Marik replied as the two left the room.
Ma'at walked through the gardens with her three year old brother. She smiled down at him as he reached out to be held. Ma'at smiled once again and picked him up holding him tightly.
“You're just like ma,” she whispered to him.
As if understanding her gurgled happily and yanked on one of Ma'at's locks.
“Hey, no fair,” she said trying to pull her hair free from his grasp.
All of a sudden Atemu started spitting up blood onto her tunic. The world stopped around her. Panicking she ran with her brother in her arms towards the nursery. Immediately upon her arrival the maids and healers took the child from her. She moved outside of the room and waited. She looked upon hearing rushed foot steps. She stood up as her father came closer. Before Ma'at realized anything her father had slapped her across the cheek.
“YOU KNOW YOUR BROTHER WAS SICK! HOW COULD YOU BE SO INCOSCIDERATE? DO YOU REALLY WANT TO KILL HIM SO BAD? HE'S MY SON!” he bellowed.
The maids around them quickly moved away from the scene. Before she could respond he had walked into the nursery.
Walking away with her head bent she murmured, “I'm your daughter too…”
Days later Ma'at was walking by the infirmary and she stopped when hearing her father talk.
“What do you mean he won't make it?” he asked.
“He's too weak, unless someone of the same family is wiling to sacrifice themselves he won't make it. I suggest putting him out of his misery,” the healer said.
“No…we have someone,” her father said.
“Who if I may ask? You have an empire to run and all of the other family is dead,” the healer asked.
“Ma'at…she'll do,” her father replied.
Ma'at's eyes widened in fury and in shock. She was just as capable of running the the empire why should she give up her life energy.
That night Ma'at was taken from her bed chamber. Cuffed like a prisoner. She struggles, screamed, pleaded for her life. She even watched as Nadia stood up against her father and was killed, her blood staining the ground and the robes of her father. They placed her onto a table and started the ritual.
Ryou sat up in his bed his eyes wide with terror. He gasped for breath how could anyone do that? How could anyone do that to their own family? Ryou let a few more tears fall as he straightened himself in bed. He felt the emotions eat at him. Reaching out for his notebook he began to write the poem “ Make it go away”
