Chapter 18: Two Worlds

As the collision grows closer,
As time begins again,
As wounds are healed,
I grow anxious,
Waiting for the end.

As life around me begins to change,
As I grow and mold myself into someone new,
As I find myself released from my cage,
I feel relief,
Looking towards a new day.

As my past is revealed,
As history becomes clear,
As the seals on locked feelings are removed,
I know my path,
It shines clear.

As two worlds intertwine,
I realize for once my life is in my hands.

The plane jumped sending the luggage in the upped compartments moving to the side. Ma´at herself was rudely woken from another dream, a memory to be exact. She blinked her sharp gaze lingering on her surroundings before she regained her memory of where she was. With her task fresh in mind she stretched her body, bones cracking and muscles contracting. She brushed her charcoal hair out of her face and turned to the man beside her. She smiled softly for the first time since her resurrection, glad that her only ally was accompanying her on her quest for revenge.

“Did you have a nice rest?” Nadia questioned softly.

Maát nodded and yawned once more her pearly white teeth reflecting the sunlight that was streaming through the window.

“Welcome to Domino, Japan. The local time is 4:00 PM. Thank you for flying with Egypt Air(2). Have a nice day and we hope you will choose to travel with Egypt Air again,”

Maát couldn't help but let a predatory grin escape her.

“I expect you're excited?” Nadia asked as they stood to get their belongings from the above compartment.

They weren't planning on sticking around for the other luggage. It was only the carry on´s and then out. As the crowd began to move from their seats towards the exit Maát made the decision to stay in her seat. Yes she wanted to get it over and done with but she had never liked crowds. Suddenly a woman caught her eye. She was limber with crystal blue eyes and long black hair. She glanced at Nadia and saw that she had spotted the woman as well. Apart from the height the resemblance of the woman and Nadia´s old body was unmatched. One would think that the woman was her clone.

Not needing words they both agreed that she was to be Nadia's new host. The two got off the plane and shadowed her until they came into a deserted hallway. Nadia stopped the woman while pretending to hold something the woman supposedly dropped. Maát glanced at the security cameras and with a flick of her wrist and shadow power they were hidden. Back at the security booth people were baffled, wondering what had happened to the three people standing there a minute ago.

Using her newly acquired necromancy skills she forced the woman's soul out of the body and switched Nadia´s into it. The body she had been previously inhabiting dropped to the ground, the eyes rolling to the back of the head. Nadia grinned and flicked her hair.

“Much better, I am indebted to you Mistress,” she said bowing.

Maát grinned and waved a hand as if to dismiss the bow.

“Come on, we have revenge to set into motion,” she said as she picked up her bag and began to walk down the hall her shadow magic lifting.

Back at the Ishtar household both yami´s had sensed the strong concentration of shadow magic and had immediately gone alert. They could let nothing pass them by seeing as it could be Tadheya coming for Ryou. Malik looked between the two slightly frightened. When they had banished Marik from his body Malik had lost his ability to sense shadow magic.

“What is it?” he questioned knowing they were hiding something from him.

“Nothing Malik,” Marik said sternly.

“Kura-chaaaann,” Malik pleaded.

“Forget it. We´re just being paranoid,” Bakura said offering more of an answer than Marik had.

“How´s Ryou?” Marik asked successfully changing the subject.

“Sleeping,” Bakura replied, “or he was sleeping…”

“Bakura, you should get Ryou´s mind checked,” Marik suggested seriously.

“Mariku! Ryou´s not crazy!” Malik protested as Marik rolled his eyes muttering something like ´no sweets for Malik in the morning.´

“No I mean I think someone is invading his mind,” Marik explained as malik´s mouth formed into a soft ó´.

“I´m guessing you sensed it too then…” Bakura said.

“Sensed what?” Malik asked hating being left out.

“Nothing hikari. Ryou´s awaked now. Why don´t you go keep him company?” Marik said waving off his hikari as he and Bakura continued their conversation.

Malik huffed and started to walk up the stairs his angry expression fading as he saw Ryou on the bed crying.

“Ry-chan,” malik said while walking toward him.

Ryou's head snapped up and he froze for a moment wondering what he was doing here before realizing that this was Malik's room. The tanned Egyptian walked closer and caught one of Ryou's tears with his finger. Ryou glanced down at it and back up at Malik. A small blush formed on his face.

“It's not what you think,” he said.

“Oh, so I'm imagining that you're crying,” Malik replied amused.

Ryou could not find a response to it and chose silence. `You never have to unsay anything you didn't say in the first place,' he reminded himself.

“Is it Tadheya?” Malik asked sympathetically.

`Her name is Ma'at,' Ryou retorted in his head.

“No…,” Ryou said convincing himself he wasn't lying.

It was Ma'at not Tadheya, plus it wasn't Ma'at directly. Malik smiled and gave Ryou a small hug.

“It'll all be over soon,” Malik said gently.

Malik left the room as Ryou thought to hiself. Did he really want it to be over? He wanted to now more about his past and hers. They had been lovers but there was more.

In Egypt Isis stepped off the plain and headed for the grave site, she had already had her most trusted archeologist take a look at it. As she examined the artifacts she noticed something on the wall. It had the name Tadheya clearly illustrated but it seemed there was something different written under it. Isis called her specialist and told him to use all the technology they had to find what was written underneath. She moved to the jar and examined it, it had a broken seal… a soul seal. She ran her hand over it and pondered. What had been the trigger to open it? She glanced closer to it…the sun… the seal had been burnt slightly in the middle.

“Miss Isis, I found something!” a man at the opening said.

“Oh really?” Isis asked examining the artifact.

The man came closer and a handed a small book to her. Her eyes flew to the book and she sprang up giving the man a peck on the cheek.

“Thank you Roger!” she exclaimed as with careful hands she picked up the book.

Roger nodded and left Isis to herself. The dates on the pages were unclear but the rest of the writing was as clear as ever.
