Chapter 19: Call

Isis sat inside her hotel room surrounded by decoding and tracings to translate the ancient Egyptian tongue into something more modern language. She sat back and began reading.

 

I have finally found a way out of the palace. It's secret and no one knows it's there. I was so happy because I know have a new friend. His name is Ryou and he is so cute! Although he is two years older than me he is so much fun to talk with. His father is here on business with my father. Apparently he's already planning his tomb. Not like I care, he doesn't like me anyway. I always here him say `if you were a boy,' or `if I had a son' and a few insults in there every now and then. Either way he promised we would meet again…

 

I am so MAD! Nothing I do pleases my father, nothing! I am very good at mathematics and my diplomatic skills are unmatched! It's no fair! He doesn't even care and he hates it when I do something that's lady like and when I act lady like all I hear is `why couldn't I have a son' and all that again. Why? Why me? I think I'll go talk to Ryou. He usually understands…

 

Oh my Goddess! I can't believe it…I think I'm in love with Ryou! I can't talk to anyone about it…well maybe I can to Nadia but I don't want anyone to eavesdrop. Anyway I'm not sure if I am… I'm just so happy when I see him. I've never felt this way before… I feel warm inside when he smiles and my skin tingles every time we touch…

 

Oh THIS IS GREAT! I can't believe it! Ryou loves me too! I am so happy! So eternally glad! I am so lucky…I want to shout it out to the world! I LOVE RYOU! I couldn't be happier! Oh I must go tell Nadia!

 

My Little brother was born today! He is so adorable! He's so small too, his name is Atemu. I'm betting she'll look just like Mama! My dad was so happy he even smiled for the first time in forever! Well he has a son now so I guess I'll try for a priestess position…

 

I can't believe this…Ryou and I have now become lovers…ooh I'm so embarrassed! I'm excited too though! I love Ryou so so much and he says that he loves me very much too… it would be nice if we could marry… and with luck maybe we'll find a way…

 

It's horrible…they're done with the burial stuff for my fathers tomb and now they're leaving! It's not fair! It is not fair! We only have three more days…

 

Ryou has now left…but I found something out. My father has been conducting some business and from the sound of it he needs a sacrifice, 100 people I assumebut he didn't have enough, there were only 99…mama volunteered to be number 100…

 

(scribbled hurriedly) I can't believe this my father expects me to die for my brother! Not that I wouldn't protect him but he's using me as a sacrifice! He can't, I'm his daughter too I have just as much right to the throne as he does! Why would I have to give up my future, my life for

 

Isis looked at the last word, the ink on it had run across the page as if someone was turning around sharply and the ink splattering. She flipped through the last of the pages, there were no more entries. If only the records would've been more clear and not so worn, if Tadheya would've written more detailed entries… the big if.

 

Back at the Ishtar house Marik and Bakura had begun to trace the shadow magic and found it had it's start in the airport. It hadn't moved so they guessed that Tadheya was still there. They didn't know what they would be able to do but they had to do something to stop her or at least slow her down.

 

“Malik stay here and watch the house and Ryou,” Marik said while giving Malik a small kiss.

 

“Of course,” Malik replied knowing that something grave was going on, even though the two yami's wouldn't reveal what it was.

 

Bakura rubbed Malik's head, “Take care.”

 

With that they disappeared out the door.

 

“Hey Ryou! You want something to eat?” Malik called as he walked halfway up the stairs.

 

“Uh Sure!” Ryou called back as he looked out the door.

 

Malik smiled and went back the stairs to prepare their dinner for them. He figured that Bakura and Marik wouldn't be back for many hours so he would only make enough for himself and Ryou. Ryou walked down the stairs and began to head for the kitchen until a noise caught his attention. He turned to the door and saw a white envelope on the ground. He walked towards it, thinking it was for Malik and it would be courteous to pick it up. He was surprised, however, when the name on the letter said Ryou. Ryou briefly pondered at who would send him a letter to Malik's house…there was only one person…Ma'at. With a hurry Ryou ripped open the letter and began to read through it. He felt excited and happy for some reason, he wasn't exactly sure why. Pausing only to get his shoes Ryou ran out the door.

 

Malik looked through the kitchen door, “Ryou is there a draf-” He stopped as he spotted the open door and could only stare as he heard the roar of an engine. He dropped the dish he had in his hand and ran to the door screaming Ryou. He looked from side to side but could see no one. He bent down to pick up the letter that was about to be blown into the wind.

Mistress: How was it? One more filler chapter and then we have the climax, After this I will begin to publish and work on Common Ground, then I will post the sequel to Ultimate Valentine, and after that Third Wheel ( the BRT story ). But before I post any chapters to Common Ground I will finish a Yu Yu Hakusho story. Also I need to do some editing in many of my stories.
