Anyways after this chapter the Yami's start to come in to the picture. And thats when things start to get REALLY interesting. Anyways thanks again for readin and once again, really sorry.
…Yugi Motou…
School had become unbearable. Words had become non existent. And the silence that ate at the corners of the room slithered into the minds and hearts of the four boys who had not spoken a word to each other since they entered the institution of education. Katsuya Jounouchi sat leaned back in his chair with his eyes unfocused on the ceiling. His blonde mane was tangled and unruly. It looked as if he hadn't slept in days. A good indicator would probably be the dark purple circles that laid under his once bright and energetic honey brown eyes. But now…they were just lifeless. Kind of how Yugi looked when he went to his soulroom.
What had gone wrong? At first, Jou was hurt because of Kaiba's sudden disappearing act from his life. However, he had never showed the pain and instead talked until speech occurred more than breathing did. Now that Kaiba had returned, Jou had become as emotionless as the blue-eyed brunet, but didn't in any way try to hide the fact that there was something wrong.
These were questions that plagued Yugi's mind. Along with several others.
Ryou Bakura sat in the front with his eyes staring down at the item wrapped around his neck, which he was fidgeting with incessantly. There was no longer a bright smile on his face like there had been in the prior two days. It was obvious, if not to anyone else then to Yugi, that Ryou's interest in the golden ring was fading. Yugi was actually surprised that it had stolen Ryou's attention for this long. In the end, it wouldn't matter what Ryou would find, because eventually, the painful void in his life would manifest itself once again. A void that could only be filled by an actual person not an object. An object could only make him happy for so long. So now as Yugi watched Ryou with defeated eyes, he could see the happiness in his face gradually slip into oblivion only to be replaced by intolerble loneliness.
Malik Istar was faded into the shadows and security of the back of the classroom. With narrowed lilac eyes, he was gazing out the window beside him as a harsh wind blew through the colored leaves of trees, making the branches dance in delight or shiver in fear. He didn't know which. Looking back, one could say that Malik looked almost dangerous with his bronze arms crossed over his chest and eyes glaring at nothing in particular. Yugi knew this for a fact. When December 12th occurred, at first, Malik was extremely depressed. Then a few months later, he began to ignore the pain, allowing it to build up in his system for months. Now, it was becoming too much. Now, Malik was becoming dangerous. All he needed was an excuse. An excuse to let out all of his rage and infinite hurt. All Yugi could do was hope that when Malik asked someone something, that he would be answered immediately.
Then there was him. Sitting next to Jou like he did every class. Except now it was different. None of his friend's seemed real anymore. It was as if they never really existed. And without his friend's to talk to, nothing was real anymore. And Yugi needed that. He needed something real. Something certain. Something to believe in.
His hope that there was actually something to live for was rapidly dwindling with each passing day. Not even his soulroom could make him happy anymore because even there he felt alone. He always felt alone…
`You're not alone.'
Yugi jumped a little out of his seat catching the attention of the blonde beside him. “Are you okay Yug'?” Jou asked, slightly concerned. Yugi glanced at his friend and was momentarily glad that Jou had spoken. At least now Yugi was sure that the other hadn't lost his voice.
“Yes,” Yugi lied. He slowly blinked and rested his head in his hand. What was that? Was he hearing voices again? Suddenly the room did a 360 and Yugi's world came crashing down around him. Except this time it was his real world.
“No,” Yugi said suddenly as his breathing became erratic . Yugi clutched his head when an assualt of throbbing agony flooded his head and clouded his vision. His amethyst eyes were closed tightly as he tried to push the pain away in vain. He could still hear voices from beside him but they seemed like nothing but jumbled nonsense now.
“Yugi?” he heard Jou say worriedly. “Yugi, what's wrong? Talk to me buddy.”
Everything was a blur and Yugi became frantic when his throat closed up, preventing air from flowing into his body. “I can't breathe!” Yugi shouted catching the attention of the entire class. He heard concerned voices surrounding him. Voices that sounded like Ryou…and Malik…and Jou. They were all around him. Smothering him. Cutting of his oxygen.
Yugi's chair fell to the ground as the tri-colored haired youth jumped clumsily to his feet and darted out of the classroom, knocking over a few desks and students in the process. He couldn't see anything in front of him but he still ran. What he was running from he didn't know. His life? His friends? Himself?
He honestly didn't know anymore. But nevertheless, he needed to get outside. Away from everyone. He needed to breath. Somehow, Yugi had in fact found his way out of the school, and quickly leaned up against the side of the building, and slid down to the ground while inhaling deeply. His vision slowly became clear and his breathing began to return to normal. He still had a minor headache but it was nothing compared to what he had just experienced.
What the hell was that? What had caused his body to turn against him so violently? Was it something he ate? Yugi didn't even have time to answer any of his questions when his body collided with the wall behind him. A strong hand clasped onto his collar and Yugi looked up to see the worst possible person he would want to see at a moment like this.
Ushio.
“Yugi, what are you doing here all by yourself?” Ushio said with a wide grin. “Malik and Jou not here to protect you anymore?”
Another sharp blow as Ushio drew his arm back and landed a punch on Yugi's stomach. There was a loud sickening crack as the clenched fist met with Yugi's vunerable body and the smaller boy doubled over in excrutiating pain; tears began to trickle down the pale cheeks. The dizzy spells returned with a vegence as the world around him became opaque. His body hurt. Besides from the pain in his stomach, Yugi felt as if something was pulling at his insides. As if something was trying to escape. Neither of them noticed the faint glow that radiated off of the object hanging from Yugi's neck.
“I guess Jou couldn't really help you anyway. I mean, with what Keith did to him-“
“What?” Yugi coughed out. His breathing was shallow and it hurt to talk, however that didn't stop him from asking.
“You mean you didn't know?” Ushio faked gasped and with a sickly smile said slowly: “Your little friend, well, let's just say Keith claimed him as his property.”
Yugi choked as tears flew out at with such intensity that a small puddle began to form under Yugi's crouched form. “You liar!” Yugi yelled out even though he had been rewarded with a sharp strike of pain.
“Me? Lie? Never,” Ushio mused as he walked around Yugi and kicked his back, causing the other to fall face first into the ground below them. The dirt intertwined with his tears, smearing his perfectly flawless face. Yugi didn't even make an attempt to move and instead just cried into the ground. The laugh that rang through his ears made him cry even harder. Ushio smiled as he kneeled next to the weeping teen.
“Look at you Yugi. You're pathetic. An absolute nothing.” With each word, Ushio pressed Yugi's face further and further into the ground.
Yugi couldn't take it any longer. He wanted to die. He didn't want to to live this life any longer. And it didn't seem as if Ushio was going to do it so for once, he put his life into his own hands. In a quick movement, Yugi lunged at Ushio, knocking the kneeling boy on the ground and then before the other could react, made a run for it.
He ignored the threats that reached his ears and ignored the fear and panic in his heart because as far as he was concerned, he would never see Ushio again. As much as it hurt to run, Yugi ran. He ran until he busted through his front door. He ran until he was up the stairs and in his room. He ran until he collapsed onto his floor and digged into his bottom drawer, pulling out the object that would take him away from his misery.
The light in his room reflected off of the sharp piece of glass and in an instant, a sharp pain radiated throughout Yugi's body and he watched with satisfied but sad eyes as his life began to flow out of his body in the shape of a deep crimson liquid. The cut was deep and, unlike all of his other ones, was vertical, running from his wrist to the middle of his arm. This one would not clot in time. Yugi was sure of that. And judging from the speed of the blood flow that exited his body, he only had a few minutes.
Looking around his room, Yugi's eyes laided on his black journal and, with tears still running down his face mixing with the dirt on his cheeks, he reached out for it and opened it. Quickly, he scribbled down what he thought would be his last entry.
Yugi Motou:
Press my face to the ground, I've gotta find a reason…still scratching around for something to believe in…
Something to believe in…
Yugi stopped and let his eyes wander over all of the names on the page. He hadn't even thought about the fact that he would never see his friend's again. That he would never see his grandpa again. Yugi was surprised that he didn't run out of tears when he thought about these facts. He was so selfish. He didn't even think about them when he had made this decision to end his life but then again…maybe it was for the best. They didn't need someone like him. Someone so selfish and so…pathetic. He only prayed that Kaiba would be able to get Jou through this miserable time in his life. He prayed that Ryou would find someone that could finally fill that void in his heart. And he prayed that Malik would get the answers that he's been searching for since that horrible December night.
Yugi began to feel weak and, before it was too late, Yugi wrote down one more thing. However, it wasn't meant for one of them. No, instead, what he wrote was meant for all of them.
We stumble into our lives…reach for a hand to hold. Any wonder we need to find…a certain something certain.
Tossing the journal to the ground, Yugi struggled to his feet and on unsteady legs walked over to his bed. Any second now, he would pass out, and hopefully never wake up again. However, it seemed like the more he walked, the farther away his bed seemed. Another dizzy spell struck as a bright flash of brilliant gold flooded the room. At that exact moment, in two other parts of town, two houses lit up as well, both of them belonging to Yugi's friends. The blinding light dominated over the amethyst eyes and Yugi stumbled, falling towards the ground, not even bracing for the impact. Impulsively, Yugi reached his hand out in front of him. He didn't know why though. He knew that nothing would be there. Nothing but air.
He didn't have time to be shocked when he felt a hand clasp around his own. Right before he passed out, Yugi looked up and saw a flash of the most beautiful crimson eyes. And in that moment, he wanted to live. He wanted to live, just to see those beautiful crimson eyes…one more time.
Then darkness…
