Bracing himself, Yami entered their shared body, closing his eyes for a moment and then looking ahead at the field and at Black Magician. He swallowed and met the spellcaster's eyes, which still held their confused expression. "Black Magician," he addressed his opposite, noticing that his voice was once again hoarse. "I wanted to talk to you."

The magician's pose became more rigid, and he mustered Yami, who decided that a bit more information might not be wrong. "Yugi… my hikari… summoned you so that we could talk." And now that they did, it still felt unreal. This was their first undisturbed head-to-head conversation after all. He swallowed once more and went on: "I know-" Could he do this?

He shook off his doubts and stated in a firmer voice: "I know there is something between us. I don't remember, but it's there, and it's undeniable. And I need to talk to you about this."

He might have imagined it, but there seemed to be a small smile appearing on the magician's face before he moved closer to the edge of the field. Ice-blue eyes met Yami's, and eventually their owner stepped out of the field.

Yami gasped, never having expected this. So far had it progressed, this mysterious creature's independence, that he could leave the field just like this? However, as soon as he had stepped outside, his body had become more shimmery and, as Yami now recognised, slightly transparent. Still he was walking on air. The former pharaoh looked up at his magician, who met his gaze once again, and once again his eyes were filled with emotion. Like they had always been. Not just during yesterday's game (or better, the interruption thereof) but every time during a duel when Yami was affected in a way. There had always been the pain at seeing the player hurt, the determination also…Loyalty, most definitely… And increasing with the time. Only this time it was different.

In lack of a better idea on how to act but feeling the need for some sort of gesture, Yami held out his hand to the spellcaster, who looked down to it, nodded faintly and took it. The sensation was a strange one, both bodily and not so. Carefully, Yami ran his thumb over the hand lying in his, exploring its surface. Almost physical…but with a light astral tinge, like someone half-materialised. He wasn't sure if he could run his hand through him if he pressed harder, like Yugi could with his own ghostly form, but didn't feel any incentive to try. Instead he caressed the quite delicate hand - was that indeed a shiver he had felt coming from it or just a flickering of the not-quite-physical form of his opposite's?

He looked up and met the magician's eyes again, resting on him with a serious expression before falling closed. Yami emulated him and, a moment later, felt the spellcaster's lips on his, soft and lingering, and with the same astral note his entire form held. Eyes firmly closed, a shiver coursed through him, and he responded to the kiss, carefully at first but soon more firmly.

When they separated after a while and Yami opened his eyes, he saw a distinct smile on the magic user's face but also a repeated flickering of his form. "Black Magician," he whispered, noting the breathlessness in his own voice.

The addressee gently raised his hand to his lips and kissed it, sending another shot of tingles through the former pharaoh. Then he stepped back into the field, immediately losing his transparent quality. With a nod to Yami, he disappeared.
