Chapter 2
The Capture
*NOOOOOO!!!!!* Malik screamed, pain and grief evident in his voice. Bakura smirked, and stood, staring down at the angel*s motionless form. Pegasus closed his eyes, and looked away. Seto and Tristan released Malik, who fell to his knees. *RYOU! NO!!!* He closed his eyes, and let the tears fall. He looked up when he heard a gasp. He froze, as the second demon approached him, and knelt before him, smirking, amused.
*Well, well*. Hello there.* Malik swallowed.
*Go ahead. Kill me* Malik spat to his demon counterpart. Marik grinned, and fingered a strand of Malik*s hair.
*Not yet. I*ll come for you later, little angel.* The demon said, and stood. *I am Marik, by the way. I*ll see you soon.* Malik stared, as Marik glided to where Bakura was. Bakura lifted Ryou*s limp body, and flung him over his shoulder.
*What are you doing?* Marik asked, amused.
*I don*t know. I thought I*d bring him home with me.* Bakura said, shrugging. Marik chuckled, as they dove off of the cloud, and glided towards the Gates of Hell.
*Why in Dante*s name would you do that?*
*I feel like it. I*ll kill him later.*
*You*ll have to report this, you know.*
*What, you think I can walk in with an angel over my shoulder and not be noticed?* Bakura sniggered.
*They may kill him.*
*They can*t.* Bakura snapped. *This is between me and my counterpart. They cannot interfere.* Marik thought this over. *I see you met your own counterpart.*
*Hmmm, yes*. He may be a bit more interesting than your puny little one.*
*Perhaps.* Bakura said, grinning. *Did you see the little one?*
*Heh. We*ll have to talk to Yami when he gets back from his patrol.*
*Kaiba and Honda*s killers were there, too.* Bakura said. Marik nodded.
*I know. I saw Anzu*s counterpart as well.*
*And Ryuuji and Katsuya*s.*
*Man, why are our counterparts so puny?*
*I don*t know.* Bakura chuckled, as they reached the gates. The guards stared at Bakura*s load, and the demon gave a smug smirk.
*Bakura!*
*shit*.* Marik muttered.
*Here we go.* Bakura groaned, as a blonde demon strode up to him.
*What the hell is that?!?*
*It*s an angel, Lieutenant Keith.* Bakura said.
*I can see that!*
*Then why did you ask?* Bakura quipped, loving the furious look on Keith*s face.
*Your counterpart?* Keith asked. Bakura nodded. *Then why didn*t you just kill him?*
*Not in the mood. Excuse me, I want to get him home before he wakes up.*
*You*ll have to talk to the general, first.*
*After.* Bakura said, and glided towards his quarters, Keith on his tail. Marik lifted a hand in farewell, and stopped outside his own home. Each soldier had their own two story home; the bottom floor a kitchen and living space, the top, a bathroom and bed room.
*Now!* Keith snapped.
*Later.* Bakura said, dropping to his own doorstep. He entered his home, and slammed the door in Keith*s face. The angel on his shoulder moaned, letting Bakura know that he was regaining consciousness. Bakura carried him up the stairs.
Ryou opened his eyes, moaning at a dull throbbing throughout his body, a result of the venom, no doubt. He was slung over a shoulder, and he wanted to cry when he realized that it was a demon holding him. He saw the tail, barbs retracted, twitching lazily from side to side below him, as he rested on a soft leathery wing. He held still, afraid of what the demon would do to him once he noticed that he was awake. The staircase ended, and the demon strode across a large room, with a black marble floor and blood red walls. Suddenly, the demon stopped, and flipped Ryou off of his shoulder. Ryou waited to crash to the hard floor, but yelped, when he landed sooner than expected on a soft bouncy surface. Opening his eyes, he became even more frightened. The demon had thrown him onto a large black bed, and was staring at him. Ryou began to tremble, expecting the worst. Defensively, Ryou clamped his legs together, drawing his knees up to his chest. The demon chuckled at this.
*Oh, calm down, you fool. I know what you*re thinking, and you*re wrong. I*m not going to rape you. Promise.* Ryou blinked, not believing this. *But since you*re awake now, you can get up and walk on your own.* The demon snarled when the boy didn*t move, and gripped Ryou*s wrist, jerking him off of the bed and onto his feet. Ryou stumbled against Bakura*s chest, and the demon caught him. The terrified angel stared up at his captor, who smirked in amusement.
*Bathroom is through there.* Bakura said, gesturing to a door. He dragged Ryou over, and shoved him into the bathroom. *Clean yourself up. I*ll be right in.* He said, and closed the door, leaving Ryou alone. Ryou shuddered, and turned to look around the large bathroom. A large tub was sunk into the floor, and it was to this that Ryou went. He stared into the pool, and jumped, when the door opened. He whirled, and stared fearfully at the demon, Bakura. The demon smirked, and dropped a pile of clothes to the floor.
*You, angel, are entirely too skittish.* He said, stripping his blood red shirt off. Ryou trembled as the demon kicked off his boots and removed his belt. *What are you waiting for, take that stupid thing off.* The demon ordered, gesturing to Ryou*s tunic. Ryou swallowed, and shook his head, furiously. The demon sighed, and shook his head, stripping off his pants. Ryou backed away, as the naked demon approached him, an evil smile on his lips.
*I already told you I wasn*t going to rape you.* Bakura laughed, then lowered himself into the warm water of the tub. He ducked under, wetting his hair, and dipped his wings in, wetting them as well. Then, he picked up some soap, and began to lather it into his hair. As he did so, he turned to face his prisoner again. *Get in the tub, little one.* Ryou shook his head, though he was hypnotized by the gentle waving of the demon*s wings beneath the water. Bakura smirked, and ducked down, rinsing his hair. Then, he got out of the tub, and advanced on the younger boy, who whimpered, and pressed himself into the wall. Bakura reached out, and the angel screamed, as his tunic was ripped from his body, leaving him naked. The demon then hurled the boy into the water. To his surprise, the boy sunk like a rock. With a sigh, he slipped back into the water, and waded over to the angel, grasping his hair, and pulling his head out of the water.
*What are you doing?* He snapped at the angel.
*My, wings*.* The boy gasped. *They*re waterlogged!* The demon blinked, then chuckled.
*Angel, stand up.* He snickered, and watched as the youth obeyed. *Now clean yourself up.* Bakura ordered, and proceeded to wash his body, and wings. As he did this, he kept one discreet eye on the angel beside him, watching him struggle to wash the area on his back between his wings. Bakura chuckled, and Ryou gasped, when he felt a gentle hand wash the area for him. Ryou whirled, and backed away. Bakura frowned. He had barely touched the angel-child, and he panicked. Bakura snorted, and left the tub, well aware of the angel*s large eyes on his backside. He flapped his wings lightly, sending water droplets flying. He turned his eyes back to the angel, who looked away, and continued bathing, while the demon dried and dressed himself.
*All right, out.* The demon commanded.
*Huh?*
*Get out of the tub, angel.* Ryou obeyed slowly, trying to wrap his wings around his body, but found them too heavy with water. Bakura smirked, and approached the angel. He shoved the boy onto a stool, and stood behind him, eyeing the feathery wings. With a sigh, he started at the top, and began squeezing all the water out. After about half an hour, the bathroom was half flooded, and the boy*s wings were still wet. Bakura gave an exasperated sigh.
*How in the inferno do you put up with these things? Here, shake them out now.* Ryou blinked, and lifted his wings, rustling them fiercely, soaking the bathroom. Bakura ducked under one of his own wings to keep from getting re-soaked himself. He watched as the angel wrapped the damp wings around his body.
*Here are some clothes for you. I*ll be right back.* Bakura grumbled, and left the bathroom. As he walked downstairs, he heard a banging on the door. With a sigh, he went to answer it. He rolled his eyes.
*What do you want, Keith.*
*The High Council commands you immediate presence. You are to bring the angel.* The Lieutenant said, haughtily. Bakura sighed.
*Fine. Fine*. I*ll be there soon.*
*Now.*
*the angel*s not dressed.*
*I*m sure they won*t mind*.* Keith sneered. Bakura scowled.
*Well, I do. He*s my counterpart. You may as well see ME naked.*
*Are you really that pitiful under your clothes?* Keith taunted. Bakura rolled his eyes, slamming the door in Keith*s face for the second time that day. He groaned, and returned to the upstairs. To his annoyance, Ryou was wearing his white tunic, instead of the low hanging black billowy pants.
*I told you to put those on.* Bakura growled, pointing to the pants. Ryou scowled, and looked away. *Fine. I don*t have time for this.* The demon snapped, and returned to his room, ruffling through drawers in the dresser. *Come here!* He called, and the angel slowly shuffled over. Ryou simply dropped his gaze to the floor when his captor bound his wrists together with leather straps. When Bakura produced a thick leather collar, Ryou closed his eyes, fighting tears as it was fastened tightly around his throat. The demon tossed a long length of leather straps over his shoulder, taking hold of the chain on Ryou*s collar.
*Pick up your feet, angel.* The demon spat, giving the chain a vicious jerk. *We*re expected.* Ryou wanted to ask where, but he kept silent. Bakura led him outside, where Keith waited.
*About time*.* Keith snapped, and approached them, eyes raking over Ryou*s body in a way that made the young angel squirm. Ryou stared back at him. He recognized this man. His angelic counterpart had been a familiar face among the angels; until he was killed. Killed by the demon that now lifted Ryou*s face up to inspect. Ryou shivered.
*Your counterpart, Bakura?* Keith sneered. *I remember when you were this young.*
*You should.* Bakura spat, venom in his tone. *I was his age when you tried to rape me!* Ryou squeaked when the fingers holding his face squeezed tightly. *Get your paws off of him. He*s mine.* Bakura snarled.
*Getting attached to an angel, Bakura?*
*Fuck no. I just don*t want you touching me, or anything that has to do with me. And that includes my counterpart.* The enraged demon youth spat, and turned his back, flaring his wings. *Try to keep up, angel.* Ryou swallowed, and spread his own wings, and followed his demon-captor; after all, staying with him had to be better than being left in the clutches of the older blonde.
Ryou stuck very close to Bakura, feeling all the eyes on him as they flew, and hearing the whispers from other demons. Bakura led him to a massive black structure. They landed in front of it, and Bakura removed the leather straps from his shoulder.
*Fold your wings, angel.* He ordered. Ryou blinked, and folded them to his back. He winced, when Bakura flung the leather loops over his wings, and tightened them painfully, leaving Ryou unable to open them. *Come with me. And do not speak unless asked a direct question.* Ryou followed Bakura in. The tan blonde, Malik*s other, hurried over.
*The council*s pissed, Bakura. I*d suggest killing the angel yourself, right now, and simply turning over his body. Break his neck. It*s quick, and clean.* Ryou*s eyes widened, and his lip trembled.
*No. I*ll kill him when I*m damn good and ready.* Bakura snapped.
*Bakura!* They all turned, and Ryou gasped; Yugi*s demonic counterpart. It had to be.
*Yami.* Bakura nodded a greeting. Yami skidded to a halt, staring at Ryou.
*By Dante*s Inferno! It is true!*
*Yes, yes, now let*s go.* Bakura said, and marched towards the council chamber. He flung the doors open, and the demons inside quieted. Marik and Yami slipped from his side, and joined the crowd.
*Bakura.* An elderly demon with the horns of a ram called. *Word has it that you went out on patrol, and returned with a prisoner.* Bakura nodded.
*I did.*
*Your angelic counterpart?*
*Yes.*
*Bring him forth.* The demon commanded, and Bakura jerked Ryou up beside him, then grabbed him by the back of the neck, forcing him into the center of the circular room, and shoving him to the floor. Ryou bit back a cry, and lifted himself to his knees. His heart pounded in his chest, he feared it would burst. He had never been so frightened in his entire life. Not when he had met Bakura face to face, not even when he had fallen off of the clouds when he was a young child with barely-developed wings. He was trembling violently. All the demons could see it, and he knew they could.
The elder demon stood, and approached him, leaning on a crooked staff. He circled Ryou slowly.
*Remove the angel*s restraints.* He said. Bakura blinked.
*Sir?*
*Remove them!* the elder barked. Bakura blinked, but released Ryou*s wrists, and removed the restraints from his wings. Ryou ruffled them, and drew them around his body, defensively. *Fascinating*.* The elder murmured, observing this.
*what is so fascinating?* Another elder asked, peevishly. *Destroy the brat!* Many other elders shouted their agreement. *Kill him!* the high elder frowned.
*You can*t lay a finger on him!* Bakura snapped. The room silenced following his brash statement. *The law says that no one can step between counterparts. He is mine to with as I wish. If I want to kill him, I can. If I want to beat him, I can. If I want to rape him, I can. And if I want to set him free, I can, and you can do nothing!* the demons raged at this, until the elder raised his hand for silence.
*He speaks truth. The angel is his, and his alone. What do you choose to do with him, young Bakura?*
*I don*t know. He*. AMUSES me* I*ll keep him around for now.*
*So be it. But he is your responsibility.* The elder said. Bakura nodded. *Away with the angel. We have more pressing matters to discuss.* Bakura replaced the restraints on Ryou, and dragged him from the council chamber. Once out, he breathed a loud sigh of relief.
*Wheew! That couldn*t have gone any better!* He said, grinning at Ryou, and ruffling his hair. They both froze, and stared at each other. Bakura hastily pulled his hand back, and cleared his throat loudly.
*Bakura!* He looked up at Marik and Yami, and a few other of his friends running over, including Ryuuji, Anzu, and Katsuya.
*What?*
*You got to keep him!* Anzu gasped. *How sweet! You have a new pet!* Bakura chuckled at this, while Ryou stared at the straps around his wrists, finding them very fascinating.
*Bakura!* They all turned, and Ryou gasped at the two demonesses striding over. One was blonde, and one was tan with black hair.
*Yes, Mai?* Bakura asked. The woman stopped before Ryou, and gripped his chin in her fingers, lifting his face, as if inspecting him. She smiled, slightly.
*Perfect** She purred. *Bakura, could I*. Borrow your little pet?*
*Borrow?*
*To teach.*
*What do you want to teach him?* Bakura asked, narrowing his eyes. The other woman laughed.
*Hush, Ishizu.* Mai snapped, playfully.
*She means to use as a living diagram.* Ishizu said.
*I mean to help me teach the younger demon kids. Who are learning about the angel anatomy. All we have are drawings, and they are mostly guess work. With your little friend here, I could get some accurate drawings done, and have a good model for the kids.* Bakura smirked.
*I don*t see why not.*
*Tomorrow?*
*Day after. Let him get used to his new surroundings first. And then, bring the kids to my place. I*d rather not drag him all over Hell with me.*
*Deal. Say, eleven thirty, just before lunch?*
*Which you*re having with me, remember?* Ishizu said.
*Fine.* Bakura nodded.
*I*ll see you then.* Mai said, and Ishizu gave Ryou a pat on the head, before both flapping away.
*You have a fan, little one.* Marik said, looking at Ryou, who lowered his eyes. Marik blinked, and looked at Bakura. *Quiet thing, isn*t he?* Bakura nodded.
*I*ve heard maybe, five words from his lips since the first time I saw him.* Bakura said, shrugging. *I*m taking him home.*
*Can we come?* Katsuya asked. Bakura shrugged, removing the wing restraints from the little angel.
*Sure.* The six demons and the angel spread their wings, and headed for Bakura*s home, the demons watching Ryou*s every move.
When they entered Bakura*s home, he removed all the restraints from Ryou, warning him to behave, or else*. The demons relaxed in chairs, and on the sofa. Bakura sat in an arm chair, shoving Ryou down to the floor next to it, and proceeded to stroke the boy*s head, like a dog. Ryou kept his eyes to the floor.
*How did you catch him?* Yami asked, watching Ryou with intense interest.
*Pegasus and two angels our age were out training the young ones in flight patterns. Marik and I were bored, so we dive bombed them, scaring the shit out of the baby angels, and basically causing mayhem.* Bakura snickered.
*Then I spotted that little one there. Bakura confronted him.* Marik chimed in.
*the little coward ran.* Bakura snarled, smacking Ryou upside the head, before returning to stroking his hair, gently.
*Damn near got away, too.* Marik laughed, pointing at Bakura. *I*ve never seen an angel that young fly so well.*
*How young is he?* Anzu asked. Bakura shrugged, then tapped Ryou*s head.
*Hey, angel. How old are you?* He demanded.
*Fifteen** Ryou murmured to the floor. The group stared at the angel, surprised at how soft his voice was.
*Anyway,* Marik said, after a moment. *The pup practically outflew Bakura. He almost got away. But Baku-chan snagged him around the neck with his whip.*
*You and that whip, Bakura*.* Katsuya laughed. Bakura grinned, and fingered the leather coiled around his hips.
*Bakura then proceeded to pretty much fly the kid like a kite, dragged him all over the place, before slamming him down, beating the crap out of him, and poisoning him enough to knock him out. Then, he brought him back here.* Marik said, wrapping it up. Bakura smirked.
*Here*s something interesting for you. This little angel-child is the nephew of Arch Angel Pegasus!*
*No way!* Ryuuji gasped.
*You*re joking!* Yami cried.
*Nope. He really is. And here*s something else; we found Marik*s counterpart.* Bakura said. *And that*s not all! We saw all of yours, too! Katsuya, Ryuuji, Anzu, Yami, yours is the puniest thing I*ve ever seen.*
*So I*ll kill him easy.* Yami said, shrugging. They all turned to the angel when he let out a small whimper. Bakura frowned.
*Got something to say, angel?* He snapped. Ryou slowly raised his eyes, and stared at the demons, watching him curiously.
*Please*.* He whimpered. *Please don*t hurt them! They, they*re my friends!* Bakura chuckled.
*Oh, I don*t intend to.* Marik drawled. *I*ve always wanted a pet.* The others chuckled as well.
*Please, leave him alone!* Ryou pleaded to Marik. Marik looked at Ryou, highly amused.
*What*s his name, angel?* Marik asked. *What*s my counterpart*s name?* Ryou dropped his gaze, and was silent. Bakura slapped him.
*When we ask you a question, angel, you will answer!* Ryou whimpered. *Well?* Bakura snarled.
*Malik*.* Ryou whimpered in a defeated tone. *His name is Malik.*
*Malik*.* Marik mused aloud.
*And mine?* Yami said. *What is my counterpart called?*
*Yugi.*
*Tell us all the names.* Anzu said.
*Tea. Yours is Tea.* Ryou said, then looked at Ryuuji. *Yours is Otogi, and your is Joey.*
*What of the soldiers?* Marik snarled. *The brown haired ones. They killed Honda and Kaiba.*
*T-tristan, and Seto*..* Ryou said, quietly, returning his gaze to the floor.
*And, what is your name?* Yami asked.
*Ryou.* Ryou replied. Then, to his horror, and to the demon*s amusement, his little mouth stretched open in a yawn. Marik chuckled.
*Looks like it*s time to put your pet to bed, Bakura.* The blonde sniggered. Bakura rolled his eyes.
*You know where the bed is, angel. Go. Now.* Slowly, Ryou rose to his feet, and left the room.
*You*re putting him in your bed?!* Anzu gasped. Bakura shrugged.
*Where else? He can sleep where he wants*.. for now.*
