Disclaimer: I don’t own Yu-gi-oh. Kazuki Takahashi does. I do however own the character Elizabeth and her friends (except Ryou). Oh and I also do not own any of the play station games that I mention. (unless you count me going out to the store and actually buying them, them I own all of them^_^)

Prologue

It is foretold in the ancient scriptures that one person shall rise above all that is below them. Through cold, restless nights I have wondered, soaked with sweat, who this might be. Days, weeks, months passed slowly by. The evil one stays dormant in his cocoon in the fiery depths of his hell on earth. Let there be help for those trapped in his angry jaws of death. Let the Chosen One be found.

Chapter One

The TV screen played the load/ continue screen when Elizabeth threw down the controller and switched files on her Kingdom Hearts game.

“Ha!” she thought as she began cutting the crap out of Ansem, “take that! You creep! That’s what you get for possessing Riku!”

“ELIZABETH!”

“WHAT!?” she called.

“TURN THAT FRIGGIN GAME OFF!” her dad screamed, “YOU”VE BEEN PLAYING FOR ALMOST 2 HOURS!”

Elizabeth groaned and reluctantly turned off her game. Blinking in the dim light of her bedroom, Liz got up and walked downstairs.

“You shouldn’t spend your life up there with your fucking video games” said her father.

Liz walked past him and out the door. She had a tournament today anyway. She walked down to the Game Shop. A big cheer awaited her as she walked in.

“LIZ!”

She spun around and behind her was her best friend Aden.

“Kudos to you!” he said excitedly.

“For what?” she said.

“You won!” said Aden, “The other finalist backed out!”

A feeling of disappointment swept over Liz. She had been looking forward to the finals since the semi-finals the previous Saturday.

“What’s wrong?” asked Aden.

“Nothing” said Elizabeth, “I just really wanted to duel today.”

She walked out of the shop, walked down the street and out of sight.

Liz was still feeling down when she got home that night. She removed her shoes at the front door and hurried upstairs. Luckily her father had went out drinking again and was passed out on the floor in the living room. He always did. She was just lucky that he hadn’t dropped on the floor of her room like he often did. It’s not that she didn’t love her father, it’s just that he needed to stop drinking ad notice his daughter.

Liz stared up at the ceiling. It was painted in soft earth tones. She was a nut about ancient stuff like Egypt. That was why she had started playing duel monsters in the first place. It was thrilling to actually be playing something that the pharaoh himself had once played. She fell into a deep sleep. Not wanting to think about the troubles that were waiting for her in the morning.
