Upsetting Outcomes

Kiaba smiled, as Nicola had just been defeated. Everyone turned to Roland to draw the next match

"Duellists, remember your numbers. The selector will now choose the next match"

The balls began to bounce about and one came out

"Duellist 7, Stephen Reynolds will face…"

The second ball was selected

"Duellist number 3, Darren Coey"

Stephen and Darren looked at each other

"Darren"

"Stephen. This will be interesting"

Michael smiled, as did Kiaba

"Duellists take your place

Stephen and Darren stood opposite each other and they shuffled each others decks. They gave their decks back to each other and they prepared their duel disks

"Let this duel commence"

Darren drew first

"Ok Stephen, just because we are friends doesn't mean I'll go easy on you"

"No mercy from me either."

Darren looked at his card

"Crimson Sentry in attack mode and two cards face down"

Stephen drew his card

"I'll summon the Spear Dragon in attack mode and I play Dragon's Gunfire to inflict 800 points of damage to your life points"

Stephen's dragon fired a small blast at Darren and his life points dropped to 3200

"And now, Spear Dragon, take out his Crimson Sentry"

Stephen's monster fired a blast at Darren's monster wiping it out and dropping his life points to 2900. Darren drew his card

"I summon a monster face down in defence mode and I'll play the Vengeful Bog Spirit, so every time we summon a monster we have to wait one turn before attacking"

"Wait a suck the fun out of this duel"

Stephen drew

"I summon the Cave dragon in attack mode. And one card face down"

"Well there isn't much you can do in that case, but I'll play the Dragon Capture Jar"

"No!!"

Stephen's monsters were sucked into the jar

"And now I summon the Dragon Piper in defence mode to destroy my Capture Jar but now your monsters are on my side of the field!"

Both of Stephen's monsters were on Darren's side of the field in attack mode

"Dragon's, take out his life points now!"

They both fired their attacks by they were sucked into a small hole and blocked

"What?"

"Gravity Bind Darren. Be careful next time"

Stephen drew his card

"Perfect. Remove Brainwashing!"

Stephen's Dragon's came back to his side of the field

"This card negates the effect of any magic, trap or effect card that involves the control of an opponents monster. So now I will summon the Koumori Dragon in attack mode. And I'll make my two dragon's take out your face down monsters!"

Both Stephen's monsters took out Darren's face down monsters. Darren drew his card and he looked in his deck

"Thanks to my UFO Turtles special ability I can summon a fire monster with 1500 attack points or less. Giga Tech Wolf in attack mode. And then I'll remove my Crimson Sentry from play to put Spirit of Flames unto the field. But there's more. I sacrifice them both to summon the Tyrant Dragon!"

Darren's monster roared as it appeared on the field

"Don't' forget Darren. You can't hit me due to Gravity Bind"

He looked at his hand

`Polymerisation, perfect. I just need two Dragon's on the field'

He drew his card and he laughed

"I've done it Darren, this is the end. I will place this card face down then summon the Lesser Dragon in attack mode"

Darren drew as well and he was wondering about Stephen's strategy

"I will summon the Robotic Knight in attack mode"

Stephen laughed

"Its over now Darren. I summon the Winged Dragon, guardian of the Fortress"

Michael looked up

"This is it"

Everyone looked at him

"I now use Polymerisation to fuse my monsters together"

They all combined and a blast of light was given off. Everyone looked back and a huge five headed Dragon appeared on the field. Darren was stunned beyond belief

"What is that!"

"It's the Mystic Dragon"

"And 5000 attack points. That means…"

"Your Tyrant Dragon is finished!"

"But remember my Vengeful Bog Spirit"

Darren drew his card and he smiled

"Sorry Stephen, but that monsters too strong to keep on the field. I play Additional power!"

"No!"

"With 1000 life points given up I can make my Monster stronger by 2500 the defence points of my monster! Making it a total of 5400! But I first play Special Occasion to negate your Gravity Bind for this turn. Tyrant Dragon, burn his Dragon to dust!"

Darren's monster wiped out Stephen's monster and his life points dropped to 3600

"And I'm not done. Robotic Knight attack his life points!"

Darren's monster hit Stephen head on and his life points hit 2000.

"Damn you Darren"

"I told you, no mercy would be shown to you"

"Well allow me to extend the same curtsey. I play Wingbeat of Giant Dragon to recall my Spear Dragon and I'll sacrifice it to summon the Sky Dragon in attack mode with Dragon Treasure. And finally one card in defence mode and one card face down"

Darren drew his card

"Stop defence"

Stephen's face down card came up

"Lord of Dragons!"

"Yes and don't forget my Gravity bind is still in play"

"Well that's a simple solution. Remove Trap"

Stephen's card vanished

"Well you still can't attack me since Lord of Dragon's is on the field"

"Who says I can't attack him myself?"

"What!"

"Tyrant Dragon take out the Lord of Dragon's now!"

Darren's monster blew Stephen's Lord of Dragon's out of the sky and his life points dropped to 300.

"Stephen, give up"

"Never. I play Offerings to the Doomed to take out your Tyrant Dragon and De-spell to get rid of that Vengeful Bog Spirit. Next Monster Reborn to revive your Dragon to me!"

Darren's monster roared as it looked at Darren

"Sky Dragon, destroy the Robotic Knight!"

Stephen's monster easily wiped out Darren's monster and his life points dropped to 2600

"And now, Tyrant Dragon, destroy his life points!"

Darren was blasted with his own monsters attack and his life points hit 0. Stephen smiled

"Victory is mine!"

Darren was crushed

"My own monster, destroyed me!"

Stephen closed his eyes and he shook his head

"I'm sorry Darren"

"Stephen. Its ok. It's a tournament. To win we sometimes have to destroy the ones we care about"

He smiled and he shook his hand

"Best of luck in the semi final"

He walked of the field followed by Stephen. Joey was standing on the side of the field and he looked at Roba

"I hope I get you Wheeler!"

He smiled

"I'm hoping for it too Roba"

Everyone turned back to Roland

"Duellists remember your numbers. The selector will now select the next match"

The balls bounced around the machine and one ball was chosen

"Duellist number 8, Joey Wheeler will face off against…"

Another ball was chosen

"Duellist number 5, Espa Roba will face off against Joey Wheeler"

Both players smiled

"I don't think we could have got a better draw"

Joey and Espa took their places on the field

"Duellists ready your decks"

Both players shuffled their decks and the scanners read 4000 life points. Joey drew first

"I summon Gearfried the Iron Knight in attack mode and one card face down"

Roba drew

"I'll summon Don Zoolag in attack mode and I can activate one of its two effects. Discard one card from your hand to the graveyard or send the top two cards from your deck to the graveyard. I'll do that"

Joey drew two cards and he put them in graveyard

"One card face down and I'll play Coffin Seller"

Joey was confused. Michael smiled

"What's the matter Wheeler. Don't you know what it does?"

"Uh, no"

"It takes 300 life points off you for each monster of yours that is destroyed"

Joey looked at Roba and he smiled

"Roba. Do you know what monster you send to the graveyard?"

Roba wasn't sitting easy

"I'll show you. Monster Reborn!"

Joey's Jinzo appeared on the field and Wheeler was laughing

"Jinzo, take him down!"

Jinzo fired its attack and Roba's monster was wiped out easily and his life points dropped to 3000

"And now. Gearfried, attack his life points!"

Gearfried was about to attack when a monster got in the way.

"What?"

Joey saw a magic card face up on the field

"Last Will. Once one of my monsters are taken out I can summon a monster to the field from my deck."

Roba's life points dropped to 2700. Roba drew his card

"I'll summon Gilasaurus in attack mode then I'll Sacrifice him to summon the Great Deazrd in attack mode"

"What, that's against the rules"

Kiaba smiled

"Wheeler, don't you know anything about the monsters in this game? The effect of Roba's monster means the monster isn't normally summoned so he can sacrifice that monster and summon another one."

"And now Wheeler I will attack you Iron Knight with the Great Dezard!"

Roba's monster wiped out Joey's monster and his life points dropped to 3900

"And I'll finish with a card face down"

"Roba. I'm going to get you for this! Jinzo attack!"

Jinzo fired its attack but it was blocked and Jinzo was wrapped in chains

"No! What happened!"

Roba's face down card was face up.

Michael smiled

"I think Wheeler has lost"

"Its Shadow Spell Wheeler. It wraps up one monster on the field and reduces their attack power by 700 points. I'll summon the Witches Apprentice to increase the attack power of my Great Dezard to 2400. Take out his Jinzo!"

Roba's monster wiped out Wheelers Jinzo and his life points dropped to 3200. Joey drew his card

"One monster in defence mode"

Roba smiled

"Big mistake Wheeler. Now I will sacrifice my Great Dezard to summon Fusioh Richie"

Michael smiled

"There's a monster I haven't seen in a while"

"And now Wheeler I get to summon another zombie monster to the field"

Nicola grunted

"That card should be in my deck. A zombie"

Michael and Kiaba looked at her

"You already have enough in there. Spinal, Undertaker, Necromancer"

"I now summon Poison Mummy in defence mode"

Wheelers life points dropped to 2700

"What?"

"It's the effect of my monster. 500 life points off a normal summon. Its your turn"

Wheeler drew

"Go Time Wizard!"

"Oh great"

"Go time roulette!"

The Time Wizard spun its spinner and Michael laughed. Kiaba, Yugi and Nicola looked at him

"I think Wheeler has got too lucky in all the times he used this monster's effect. Its his time to lose"

The spinner landed on a skull and Joey was horrified and his monster was destroyed and his life points dropped to 2150. Roba laughed

"Wheeler. My revenge has come at last. Richie take him out!"

Wheeler was knocked off his feet and his life points dropped to 0. Roba laughed. Joey smiled

"That was a good match Espa. You did it"

"Wheeler. I'm not interested in sportsmanship"

Yugi looked up

"He may have lost the duel, but at least remember the manners of duelling!"

Kiaba looked at Yugi

"What manners?"

Yugi looked at him

"There are no manners in this game Yugi. And its our duel now Yugi. So prepare to lose"

"Players, take your positions"

Yugi and Kiaba stood on either side of the field and they readied their decks

"Begin!"

Yugi drew first

"I summon Neo the Magic Swordsman in attack mode and I activate the field card Yami"

The field turned purple with clouds and lightening strikes over the head of the duellists. Neo's attack power was increased to 1900. Kiaba smiled

"But don't forget Yugi, field cards are open to both players. La Jinn appear!"

Kiaba's monster appeared on the field and its attack power rose to 2000

"Attack his Swordsman now!"

Kiaba's monster wiped out Yugi's Swordsman and his life points dropped to 3900. Yugi drew again

"One monster in defence mode and two cards face down"

Kiaba drew his card

"Battle Ox, attack mode. La Jinn take down that card!"

La Jinn fired its attack but nothing happened

"What?"

The Mystical Elf appeared

"Yami increases her defence power to 2200 so your attack was blocked and you lose 200 life points"

Kiaba's life points dropped to 3800. Yugi drew

"And now I sacrifice my monster to summon, Summoned Skull!"

"Sorry Yugi, but that was a big mistake. Activate Trap hole!"

Yugi's monster fell into a deep hole and Yugi was worried

"And now you are free to be attacked. I'll summon the Mystic Horseman in attack mode. Go my monsters, attack his life points directly!"

Yugi was knocked off his feet by the direct attack he suffered and his life points dropped to 900 and Kiaba narrowed his eyes

"La Jinn, finish him!"

It fired its attack but it was trapped by something

"What?"

"Spellbinding Circle!"

"Damn, oh well. Next turn it will be over Yugi"

Yugi drew

"Swords of Revealing Light!"

"I stand corrected"

The swords surrounded Kiaba's monsters. Michael looked at Kiaba

"That only buys Yugi time. Kiaba could easily summon his Blue Eyes. Unless its not in his hand"

Yugi looked at his hand

"I summon the Celtic Guardian in attack mode and one card face down"

Kiaba drew his card

"I'll end my turn, one turn down Yugi"

Yugi drew his card

"The Feral Imp in attack mode"

Kiaba drew and he smiled. Yugi knew what he had

"I'll summon the Mysterious Puppeteer in defence mode. So for every monster summoned I get 500 life points. Two turns down"

Yugi drew again

"One monster face down defence mode"

Kiaba didn't get the 500 life point increase

`Yugi must have know that if he summons a face down monster I don't get 500 life points'

Kiaba drew his card and he smiled again

`I have all three blue eyes in my hand. I just need Polymerzation. But I also have Monster Reborn and I will need 6 sacrifices and three turns to pull this off.'

"I'll sacrifice my two monsters to summon the Blue Eyes White Dragon!"

Yugi stood back as Kiaba's Blue Eyes roared unto the field

"Two turns Yugi and it will be over"

"It will be over much sooner than that Kiaba"

"Empty threats won't get you anywhere"

Yugi drew

"One card face down"

Kiaba drew his card

"One card face down and I will summon my second Blue Eyes!"

Kiaba's second Blue Eyes roared as it appeared on the field and the Swords of Revealing Light disappeared

"And after these two turns Yugi, its over"

"I will now Sacrifice my monsters to summon the Dark Magician"

Yugi's strongest monster appeared on the field. Kiaba laughed

"I don't get it"

"You will, once I play Rainbow Road"

"Rainbow road?"

"Yes. Dark Magician, hit his life points directly!"

Kiaba was struck by the dark light attack and he shouted in pain. His life points dropped to 1300. Kiaba drew his card

"Lord of Dragon's in defence mode and one card face down"

Yugi thought

`Damn, now his monsters can't be effected by Magic and Trap cards'

Yugi drew his card

`Perfect. If he has another Blue eyes in his hand I can get rid of it'

"Card Destruction"

Kiaba and Yugi both discarded their hands and drew and same amount they threw away. Kiaba drew his card

"Yugi. I must thank you"

"For what?"

"For sending my poor Blue eyes to the graveyard. It was like out double duel against the Rare Hunters. You played that card so I could use…Monster Reborn!"

Kiaba's third Blue Eyes appeared on the field and Yugi was horrified

"No!"

"Oh yes. Yugi, this ends now, and if you are thinking of using any of your magic and trap cards against me, don't both. With the Lord of Dragon's in play that can't happen. Blue eyes destroy his Dark Magician!"

Yugi's monster was wiped out easily and his life points dropped to 400

"Blue eyes, finish him!"

The second Blue Eyes hit Yugi head on and his life points shot down to 0. Nicola smiled

"There's a shocker, no doubt about it"

Yugi walked off the field and Kiaba was almost laughing. Michael looked at him

"I would love to wipe that smug off his face"

"Well Michael, you are facing me now."

"Reynolds. I'll enjoy this one"

Roland shouted

"Duellists, take your positions!"

Michael and Reynolds stood opposite each other and they readied their decks.

"Let the duel begin!"

Each player drew their cards and Michael drew first

"Ok Steve, Baron of the Fiend Sword in attack mode and one card face down"

Stephen drew

"First I activate Solemn Wishes so ever turn I get 500 life points for each card I draw. Then I place one monster face down in defence mode"

Michael drew his next card

"Headless Knight in attack mode and I'll attack your face down card!"

Michael's Headless Knight sliced down Stephen's card

"And now, hit his life points my Baron!"

Michael's monster hit Stephen's directly and his life points dropped 2450. Reynolds drew again and his life points hit 2950

"Damn I forgot"

"Koumori Dragon in attack mode and I'll play Dragon's Gunfire to take off 800 life points!"

Stephen's monster fired a small attack at Michael and his life points dropped to 3200

"And I play Dragon Treasure to increase my monsters attack power to 1800. Take out his Headless Knight!"

Stephen's monster breathed its fire and his life points dropped to 2850. Michael drew again

"Damn. Ok I will reveal my face down card. Monster Recovery. I can place one monster back into my deck and shuffle it"

Michael's Baron vanished from the field and Michael began to shuffle his deck. He drew 4 cards and he smiled

`Red Eyes, excellent and two monsters in my hand to sacrifice as well'

"The Feral Imp in attack mode and the Horn of the Unicorn to raise its attack power by 700. Feral Imp attack his Dragon now!"

Michael's monster easily wiped out Stephen's monster and his life points dropped to 2250 but when Stephen drew his life points rose to 2750.

"Well now Michael, watch this. Monster Reborn"

Stephen's Koumori Dragon appeared on the field

"And I play Wing Beat of Giant Dragon to put a 5 level or higher dragon on the field, from my deck or graveyard. I play Curse of Dragon. And now I sacrifice both my monsters to summon the Tri Horned Dragon!"

Stephen's monster roared as it appeared on the field

"Your chances are lost Michael. I will defeat you with ease!"
