The Story of Dragons

Stephen Reynolds was walking through the streets and he already had his three-locator cards. Darren was just above him on the roof of a restaurant and he looked down

"Stephen, up here"

Reynolds looked up

"Hey Darren"

Stephen walked into the restaurant and he sat beside Darren

"So, how are things?"

Reynolds showed Darren his three-locator cards

"Busy man"

"And yourself?"

Darren showed him his six cards

"Who did you beat for those?"

"I can't remember the names. But they are all on my conquest sheet including, Bandit Keith and Yugi Motto"

Reynolds was stunned

"No way. You couldn't have"

"He is back on three locator cards and I've shattered his confidence"

"I'm impressed mate"

Darren smiled. He opened up a lab top and he looked through the match results of the tournament

"Seems like Michael just beat Semple and he has four locator cards. Joey Wheeler beat Shevlin!"

"No way"

"And he has four locator cards. Balfour beat Weevil Underwood and he has four as well"

"What about Roba?"

"Roba? He has been beat by Michael and Nicola but he is still on four locator cards. Nicola beat Bakura was well and Kiaba beat Mai Valentine and he is in the finals already but Mai only has one locator card left. Cheating no doubt"

"Who else is still in the game?"

"Maria Noonan, Tea Gardener, Rex Raptor, Robin Kernaghan…!"

"Michael's sister is still there!"

"The bitch that beat me a long time ago. I need my revenge"

"Pity Kiaba didn't have the usual prize of the rarest card in this tournament. Kind of takes the fun out of it"

"He only wanted the God cards and besides I won't want to risk my Tri-Horned Dragon"

"Or my Tyrant Dragon"

Darren pulled it out and he looked at it

Michael and Tea were walking around looking for a challenger. Michael spotted Mark

"Well the former world champion over there"

"Mike, we are looking for someone I can actually beat"

"You can take him no sweat"

Reynolds had just finished talking to Darren and he saw Michael and Tea

"Perfect, snack time. Hey Michael!"

Michael looked up and he looked at Tea

"There's your opponent for today"

"Mike are you sure?"

"Of course I am. I'm already in the finals. If push comes to shove I'll give you one of mine"

Tea smiled

"Reynolds. I'll take you on"

"I was going to challenge you anyway"

They readied their disks and their decks

"Time to duel"

They drew their cards and Tea drew first

"I'll summon the Harpies Brother in attack mode and two cards face down"

Reynolds drew as well

"I'll summon Spirit Ryu in attack mode and I'll discard one dragon monster to my Graveyard to increase the attack of my monster to 2000 and I'll place one card face down. Spirit Ryu attack now!"

Tea smiled

"Not so fast bud, reveal Spellbinding Circle!"

Stephen's monster was trapped

"And now my monster can take it down. Harpies Brother cut that Spirit Ryu down to size!"

Tea's monster easily wiped out Stephen's monster and his life points dropped to 3500. He drew again

"I'll place a monster in defence mode and I'll summon the Crawling Dragon in attack mode and I'll equip him with the Dragon Treasure…"

"Wrong, reveal Reverse Trap!"

Stephen's monsters attack power was reduced to 1300

"No!"

"Harpies Brother, take out another Dragon!"

Tea's monster again sliced down Stephen's monster and his life points hit 3000. Stephen drew again

"Spear Dragon in attack mode, wipe out her Harpies Brother now!"

Stephen's monster destroyed Tea's monster and he life points dropped to 3900

"That's enough of that annoying monster!"

Tea drew her card

"I'll play Curse of Fiend and one card face down"

Stephen's monsters were placed into attack mode, as well as his one Eyed Dragon Shield

"Uh no"

"And I'll toss a coin to determine if its make or break for me"

She flicked and coin and she caught it

"Heads"

He revealed the coin and she smiled

"And now monster has 1900 attack points. Attack the One Eyed Shield Dragon!"

Tea's monster fired its magic attack wiping out Stephen's monster and his life points dropped to 1800. Stephen smiled and he laughed almost

"Don't you remember my face down card. Monster Reborn"

"He won't have much to work with"

"On the contrary. I never told you the monster I discarded to the graveyard on my first turn. Be reborn, my Tri-Horned Dragon!"

Stephen's monster roared and is looked straight at Tea

"It's huge and powerful!"

"Be strong Tea"

"Tri Horned Dragon attack!"

Stephen's monster launched its attack and it demolished Tea's monster dropping her life points to 2100

"And I'm not done yet, Spear Dragon, hit her life points!"

"Not so fast, reveal Michizure"

"What?"

"After one of my own monsters are send to the graveyard I can select to destroy one monster on the field and I choose your Spear Dragon"

Stephen's Dragon was destroyed and he laughed

"You should have taken out the Tri-Horned Dragon, but what's done is done."

Tea drew her card

"I'll summon the Thunder Nyan-Nyan in attack mode and a monster in defence mode and one card face down. I'll also activate the Dark Door"

"Very well. I will summon Koumori Dragon in attack mode and the Wingbeat of Giant Dragon which allows me to revive one Dragon type monster from the Graveyard to the field. I choose my Crawling Dragon. But I won't attack. I fear your face down card is dangerous. But I'll place one of my own"

"I'll summon the Beautiful Head-huntress in attack mode and end my turn"

Stephen drew again

"Black land Fire Dragon in defence mode and I'll attack your Thunder Nyan-Nyan with my strongest monster!"

Stephen's monster fired its attack and Tea's monster was wiped out, taking her life points to 1150. Tea drew her card

"I play Commencement Dance and I'll sacrifice my Head huntress and my face down monster to summon the Performance of Sword in attack mode and I'll play Monster Reborn to revive my face down monster in defence mode and one card face down. And I'll now attack your Koumori Dragon!"

Tea's monster was about to attack when it was blocked

"Block attack, handy card. I'll now summon the Lesser Dragon in attack mode and…"

He looked at his hand

`Damn only Polymerisation. Well I'll have to bluff'

"One card face down"

Tea drew her card and she smiled

"I play Bait Doll to force your magic card to activate"

Stephen's card face up. Michael was confused

"Polymerisation?"

All of Stephen's dragon's all came together and a blinding light was given off, everyone covered their eyes

"What is going on!"

"I think you activated the fusion card and it fusing the monsters together!"

Everyone looked at the field and a huge five headed dragon was on Stephen's side of the field. Reynolds was stunned and he laughed

"Behold…"

"What?"

"I will call it the Mystic Dragon and with its overwhelming attack power means, it could wipe you out Tea"

"5000 attack points. I don't stand a chance"

"Afraid not, attack her Performance of Sword now!"

Stephen's monster launched a powerful blast and Tea's monster was blown from existence and her life points hit 0. Reynolds walked to her

"My prize please"

Tea was on her knees a little shaken. Stephen took her three locator cards

"I don't know how you did it"

"It was an accident but since I know about this monster I will use it again"

Darren was on the other side of the square

"Impressive Steve. I'll see you at the final as well as you Michael"

Michael hugged Tea

"Its ok, its ok. His monster was unstoppable"

Tea buried her head into his chest and Michael stroked her hair

Kiaba was in his office on his lab top and he was looking at the contestants

"Well now. Michael has made it to the finals, as has Stephen Reynolds and Darren Coey. Not to mention myself. Yugi Motto was well. Espa Roba, Joey Wheeler and Nicola. I guess it is time to announce the finals"

Kiaba stood up and he walked out of his office

Yugi and Joey were sitting on a bench outside a restaurant late in the evening as it was getting dark

"Good to see you regained your form Yugi"

"Yes, but Darren has shaken by confidence a little. But I will duel him and defeat him"

"Good on you pal. I'm after Roba, or at least he is after me"

"And I'm sure you will defeat him"

A laugh came from behind them. Joey stood up

"Wheeler. You beat me last time cause you got lucky"

"And you tried to cheat"

"Not this time. I'm totally Legit, even ask Mokuba. He has been watching last years cheaters and he watched me duel"

Another voice was heard

"He watched you get thrashed by me"

"Well, Fiend boy"

"Watch your mouth Roba, or it will be hollow understand"

"Oh I'm so scared"

"You should be because no one will stop me to becoming number one under the sun this year, not even Kiaba"

Roba laughed

"Your head is in the clouds"

"Only time can tell"

Roba walked off

"Jackass"

Joey giggled as Kiaba appeared on every television monitor in town

"Hello duellists. The Battle City Tournament has done well and only 8 people have qualified for the finals. And those finalists are Espa Roba, Michael Kernaghan, Nicola Mc Caughy, Joey Wheeler, somehow"

"Argh Kiaba!! I'm going to cream you when we duel"

"Yugi Motto, Stephen Reynolds, Darren Coey and myself of course. This time the finals will be held at Kiaba Corp Stadium. I trust you will all be able to find it. For anyone who can't, insert your locator cards into the slots on your duel disk, the rest should explain itself. I hope to see you all there and good luck for the finals. You'll need it"

Michael walked off with Yugi and Joey following

20 minutes later Kiaba was standing in the middle of the stadium his arms folded waiting for the opponents. Michael came in first with Yugi and Joey behind them.

"Ah, Michael good to see you. Yugi, you too, and Joey"

"This is where the finals are being held?"

"Yes, we aren't going to be duelling in the air this time"

"Pity"

"I'm sure you think that Wheeler"

Darren and Stephen came into the stadium as well. Darren glared at Kiaba and Michael. Stephen was a little more relaxed. Kiaba looked at him

"Congrats Reynolds on making it here. I'm quite surprised"

"I'm sure you were Kiaba. You are all going down"

Kiaba laughed but Michael remembered Stephen's strong card

"You think you can out duel the likes of me?"

"After I discovered in my last duel. I think so"

Nicola came into the stadium

"Well its demon girl"

"Shut it, Dead boy"

Kiaba grinned

"She has fire Michael, better watch you don't get burnt"

He looked at Darren

"I'll singe your ass"

Yugi looked at the other competitors

"Quite a field we have here"

Espa Roba finally made his entrance and he looked at Joey and he looked right back at him

"Welcome everyone and congratulations on making it to the finals. We will now draw for the matches. Roland"

A man in a suit came to them and a few men brought a large machine with them

"Ok we will draw with numbers. 1 is Seto Kiaba, 2 is Darren Coey, 3 is Michael Kernaghan, 4 is Nicola Mc Caughy, 5 Is Espa Roba, 6 is Yugi Moto, 7 is Stephen Reynolds and 8 is Joey Wheeler. Selector commence"

The balls started to bounce around and everyone waited as the first ball was picked

"Duellist number 3 Michael Kernaghan and he will face duellist…"

The number was drawn out

"Number 4. Michael Kernaghan will face Nicola Mc Caughy"

Michael smiled widely as he looked at Nicola

"The rematch of the century"

"Duellists, shuffle your decks"

Michael took Nicola's deck and Nicola took Michael's deck and they each shuffled them. They handed them back and placed them in their decks. They made their way to the duelling platform and readied their disks. Michael looked down and he saw Tea wasn't there. He thought to himself

`Where is Tea? I need her support'

"Duellists, begin the match!"

Nicola drew her card first

"Ok boys, the Dark Assassin in attack mode and two cards face down"

Michael thought

`A weak monster in attack mode and two cards face down. I'm not stupid'

"Baron of the Fiend Sword in attack mode and the Sword of Dark Destruction to increase his attack power to 1950 and two cards face down. I'll take a chance and attack your Dark Assassin!"

Michael's monster easily cut through Nicola's monster and her life points dropped to 3250. Nicola smiled

"Thank you. Reveal Blind Destruction"

"Nicola, do you know how risky that card is?"

"Well since I have no monsters on the field the risk is removed. So now dice roll!"

The dice on the field rolled and it landed on a four

"No!"

"Say goodbye to your Baron of the Fiend Sword!"

Michael's monster was destroyed

"And I'm not finished yet. I summon the Magical Ghost in attack mode and I play Wasteland"

The field turned into a wasteland and her monster became stronger

"Rule 1 on combat, use the terrain to your advantage"

Michael smiled

"Rule two, watch your opponent at all times for he may have the element of surprise. Trap hole!"

Nicola's monster fell into a large hole

"No!"

"And now you are defenceless. But just to be sure I'll play Remove Trap. La Jinn appear and attack her life points directly!"

La Jinn struck Nicola head on her and he life points dropped to 1650. Michael smiled as Nicola drew her card

"Michael, I have just drawn a very powerful card and combined with one of my own in my hand it will unbeatable. I play the Dark Magic Curtain"

"Don't you remember its problem?"

"A problem I am about to correct. Doubting Power"

Michael was confused

"When a magic, trap or effect is activated for both players I can choose which player gets to use the effect. I choose me and me only"

Michael was stunned

"With half my life points I summon Spinal the Skull Warrior and I'll summon Skull Servant in defence mode to increase Spinals attack power to 2300 and it is raised even higher with Wasteland to 2500! Attack his La Jinn now!"

Nicola's monster easily sliced down Michael's monster and his life points dropped to 3300. Nicola was on 825. Michael drew his card

"One monster in defence mode and reveal face down card. Mask of the Accursed"

A mask was fitted unto Nicola's monster

"Now he can't attack or defend your life points. And you will lose 500 life points each turn. Two turns and its all over"

Nicola smiled as she lost 500 life points. She was on 325

"Don't think I haven't come prepared for this. I will sacrifice my monsters to summon the Dark Necromancer!"

Michael's mask vanished and the Necromancer appeared on the field

"And the effect will explain itself but I'll do my usual trick. Monster Slayer"

She reached into her deck and she discarded five monsters to her graveyard. Michael drew his card

"One card face down"

Nicola's Patrician of Darkness appeared on the field in defence mode

"The Patrician of Darkness?"

"Yes. Any monster can be revived as long as the Necromancer is on the field. I'll sacrifice my Patrician to summon the Undertaker!"

A large man with a sword and shovel appeared on the field and his power rose to 2600.

"I'll also play the Rain of Mercy and since Doubting Power is still in play I choose to give myself 1000 life points and not you"

Her life points rose to 1325

"This is insane!"

Kiaba smiled

"Just take this beating like a man Michael. It's about time you did"

"Now Undertaker, destroy his face down monster!"

The Undertaker easily sliced through the card

"And now, Necromancer, hit him where it hurts!"

Michael was struck head on by her monster and his life points dropped to 900. He fell to his knees as Nicola laughed

"This match isn't over"

"What!"

"You heard me. As long as I have life points remaining, it's on"

Michael drew his card as Nicola's monster had revived the Patrician of Darkness and Michael saw it

"I'll De-Spell to get rid of that Doubting power"

"Michael's got her now"

"And I'll use the Dark Magic Curtain to summon the Red Eyes Black Dragon!"

Michael's monster roared as it appeared on the field and he laughed. His life points were at 450

"And I play Soul Exchange to sacrifice your Patrician of Darkness to summon my own Patrician of Darkness"

"I don't get this"

"You will in a minute. I arm my Patrician with Metal Morph!"

Everyone was stunned as his monsters attack point's hit 2300 and then climbed to 3500

"What's happening?"

"Metal Morph increases my monsters attack power by 300 and by half the amount of the target monsters attack points. Patrician of Darkness, take out her Necromancer!"

Michael's monster sliced down Nicola's monster and her life points dropped to 225

"Red Eyes, finish her!"

The Red Eyes launched its attack and Nicola was knocked over. Her life points hit 0

"The winner of this duel. Michael Kernaghan"

Yugi smiled and he thought to himself
