Chapter 2: A New Mission Begins...

Yugi slept throughout the morning and afternoon. As nightfall came, Yugi woke up. Yugi walked to his window and stared at the full moon as the crow cawed. Yugi turned around to see his old friend Skull Cowboy standing in the doorway of the bedroom.

"Skull Cowboy," said Yugi.

"Nice seeing you again, Yugi," said Skull Cowboy.

"What are you doing here?" asked Yugi.

"Nevermind that, I have a new mission for you," replied Skull Cowboy.

"What is it?" Yugi asked.

"You must put an end to 'Devil's Night'," said Skull Cowboy.

"Devil's Night?"asked Yugi.

"Yes. Long ago, a notorious arsonist named Jason Danko had started this unofficial holiday. He was known to burn down buildings every year on Devil's Night," explained Skull Cowboy. "One day, Jason Danko died in prison and now his nephew named Maximillion Pegasus

"He's not gonna burn anything down as long as I'm here," said Yugi.

"You must work quickly. Pegasus has to be stopped before he fries everyone and everything," said Skull Cowboy, disappearing from Yugi's sight.

"I will," said Yugi.

Yami Yugi grabbed his trenchcoat from the bed and put it on. Yugi and the crow stared out the window for several seconds then left into the dead of the night. Joey and Tristen were playing UnReal Tournament 2003 on the Xbox. They were blasting each other like mad until Tristen delivered the fatal shot and won the game.

"Yeah! I beat you again!" cheered Tristen.

"No Way, Tristen! Yer a fuckin' cheater!" yelled Joey.

"Hey, I beat you three times Joey!" Tristen yelled back.

"Oh Yeah?! Let's see how ya are at a fist fight!" Joey yelled.

"You're on, ya whimpering pooch!" Tristen yelled.

"What?! I'm gonna knock yer punk ass out, ya motherfuckin' monkey!" Joey yelled at the top of his lungs.

Joey and Tristen growled at each other and raised their fists but before they traded blows on their faces, Mai and Serenity intervened.

"Hey, knock it off you two," said Serenity crossing her arms.

"Yeah and besides, it's only a game," added Mai.

"But Tristen started it!" complained Joey.

"No, you did," said Tristen.

"I'm gonna finish it if you two don't stop acting like two year olds. Now change into your party clothes cause we're heading to Heaven's Night for a little fun," said Mai.

Joey, Tristen, and the girls heard a crow caw from outside, they walked over to see the bird sitting on the windowsill of the living room. They all stared at the bird for a few seconds until it flew away and left.

"Whoa. What was dat about?" asked Joey.

"I dunno but I have a feeling that someone is looking out for us," replied Serenity.

"Could be," said Mai.

A few houses down the block, Yugi had looked at his friends through the crow's eyes. The crow came back on Yugi's shoulder and cawed. Yugi walked into the shadows of nights and disappeared. Back in the city, Johnny Steps was making preparations for the first half of Devil's Night. As his fellow thugs were putting explosives in and around the video arcade, Johnny was eyeballing the detenator in his right hand while watching from the safety of his car.

"We're gonna blow this arcade sky high," said Johnny.

"All the explosives are in place, Johnny," said Mako Tsunami.

"Cool. Time to watch the sparks fly, motherfuckers," said Johnny.

Johnny pressed the button on the remote detenator, the arcade exploded into a fireball. Johnny, Mako, Esper, and Arkana watched the fire roar and crackle as they heard sirens from both police cars and fire trucks. So they hopped into the car and quickly disappeared from the scene.

"That was one killer ass explosion!" cheered Mako.

"That explosion will be a tiny candle flame compared for what Pegasus has in store," said Esper.

"Ya damn right, Esper," replied Arkana.

"Dudes, Devil's Night has officially begun. Let's fire it up," said Johnny.

They all chanted "Fire it up!" as they headed back to Pegasus' hideout. After the cops and fire fighters left, Yugi stood near the ruins of the arcade while the crow landed on one of the beams of wood sticking out of the rubble. He bent down and touched the rubble and felt a flashback coming. In his mind's eye, Yugi saw Mako, Arkana, and Esper setting up some explosives all over the arcade. Yugi's mind returned to the present as the crow cawed. Yami stood up as the crow flew onto his shoulder and walked into the shadows.

Sometime later, Yugi visited his grandfather's gravesite, he sat down and held the roses that Tea placed there just yesterday. The crow cawed as Yami was thinking about the new mission Skull Cowboy gave him. He had visions of Domino City burning in a fiery inferno. As the city burned, Pegasus laughed maniacally. Yugi shook this feeling away and stood up then placed the flowers down. The mark of the crow shined on his forehead as Yugi and the crow left the cemetary.
