Chapter 1-Encounters
"So, where exactly are we meeting the others Yugi?"
"I told you last night that we were going to spend the day at the arcade." Replied Yugi a little annoyed. His Yami lately seemed somewhat distant this past week.
"I'm very sorry Yugi." Yami said looking at his Hikari with very sad crimson eyes. "I've just been thinking so much about…" Oh Yugi knew what was on Yami's mind. Yugi couldn't help but think about her either. She had some kind of effect on the both of them. And an effect on every other guy in school. But that day that Yami saw her was just like a dream. It seemed so unreal.
Flashback
Yami looked at all the duellers in the building. There were so many people here. Maybe even more than there was when Seto Kaiba had his Battle City Tournament. There were people of all ages duelling and watching others duel. Yami had just finished his previous duel. It wasn't as much fun as it used to be. He took off his Duel disk since his arm was hurting a lot. They used to be so light but he's been duelling so much lately that his arm is starting to hurt more and more each time he wears the disk.
"I've should have know you were going to be here Yami." Yami turned around to see the arrogant Seto Kaiba standing before him.
"Why are you here Kaiba? Don't you have anything better to do then to hang around at this tournament?" Yami was hoping to avoid the big CEO today. Kaiba and Yami had gotten into a big battle earlier this week and they weren't the of the greatest friends at all. Yami got pretty jealous when Yugi would go to see Kaiba all the time. For some strange reason, Kaiba and Yugi seemed to be getting along great. Too great for Yami's liking. Yugi would always say that Kaiba wanted Yugi's help in testing out some latest inventions.
"Well actually, I came here because I heard there is an exceptionally great duellist going to participate in this tournament and I wanted to see this duellist and maybe even challenge him. Rumours say that this guy is a foreigner. The best of his country." Stated Kaiba. Yami should have known that Kaiba was here for that. Kaiba isn't the type of person to back away from a new duellist. Especially if he has a reputation of being extraordinary.
"So, where is this great duellist?" Asked Yami.
"Hi! Are you two duellists?" Asked a voice. Both Seto Kaiba and Yami turned around to look at the big blue eyes staring at them. "My name is Kima Trensuki. I just transferred here to Domino City a few days ago." ^_^
Yami couldn't find any words to say. Kima looked so… beautiful. She had baby-blue eyes, long, curly, red hair and she wore blue sweat pants and a black tang top.
"You can just call me Yami. Are you the foreign duellist that everyone is talking about?" Yami asked Kima.
"If I am then I didn't know people were talking about me. I hope whatever has been said about me isn't bad. I really don't want to make enemies now." Kima looked at the floor. Yami noticed that Kima had a duel disk on her right arm. Yami was just about to say something when Kaiba pushed Yami aside.
"There is only one way to know if you are the great duellist Kima. I challenge you to a duel. If you are not a coward you will duel me. I am a master duellist. And the head of Kaiba Corp. Duel me now and prove who you really are." Kaiba looked at her with daring eyes. Kima just looked so astonished.
"So you must be the famous Seto Kaiba that my father has talked about. Alright then, I'll duel you and meet your challenge." Kima took a step back and inserted her cards in the duel disk. She threw the hologram device to the ground. Seto did the same thing. The duel had begun.
A half hour later, Yami and Yugi met Joey, Tristan and Tea at the entrance to the arcade.
" I can't wait to embarrass Joey again on Dance Dance Revolution." Laughed Tristan giving Joey a nuggie. Joey elbowed Tristan in the ribs.
"You couldn't beat me to save your life Tristan." Joey was ready to take him down. Yugi laughed at them. Sometimes he thought they were brothers. They sure acted like it.
"Come on you guys. Quit fooling around. Let's go in and do some dancing!" Tea cried with her hands together. She opened the door and a blast of loud music flooded the five friend's ears. Tea led the way to the dancing machine. There were a lot of people crowded around watching someone dance up there. Yugi looked up and his jaw dropped to the floor. Yami got closer to see what was going on when he saw Kima dancing. Her hips moved so fast that it almost hypnotized him. He watched her hair toss around as she jumped from arrow to arrow. Kima wore very tight blue jeans with a black belt, and a red, short, sleeveless shirt.
The dance ended with Kima getting a perfect score. There were clapping and a few guys whistling at her. She laughed and took a bow. Yami just loved that laugh and smile of hers. The five friends were up at the front. She waved at all of them. They had become such great friends to her since she started school. Yami was the only one she didn't see in school. But she knew all about why. Who Yami was and where he came from. No one told her. As soon as she saw him, she began to remember those crimson eyes that looked at her so lovingly so far into the past.
Kima was just about to step off when Yami approached her. She had to smile.
"Hello Yami! `Sup?" Yami stepped on the board full of arrows beside Kima. He popped a few coins in and faced her.
"Let's have some fun." Yami grinned wide at his approach. Kima got ready and grinned back while tilting her head to the right a bit.
"Ah! A challenge I see. Well then Yami, lets dance!" Kima pressed a button to change the music. She laughed with excitement. Yugi and the others stood there watching. Yami had never danced up there before. Yugi had to wonder why now.
The music began and arrows started popping up on the screen. Yami and Kima both jumped high and hit the left arrow on their boards. Yami had to move fast to keep up with her. Kima would twist and turn, jump high and go low. Everyone cheered her on. The dance lasted a very exhausting three minutes. Yami heard some more cheers and whistling.
They both got down. Yami was just about to turn to face Kima when she leaned in so close to him and whispered in his ear. Her breath tickled his ear. He didn't quite hear what she said, but he thought he heard her say "Pharaoh." Kima turned and left the arcade leaving Yami speechless.
That was the same exit Kima had done in her duel against Kaiba. Yami began to think about that duel. Kaiba didn't even see it coming.
"I'll begin this duel." Kima looked at her hand of cards. "First, I'll place one card on the field face down." She puts a card face down on the magic and trap space." Then I'll play the magic card Graceful Charity face up. This magic card allows me to draw three cards from my deck, then discard any two cards from my hand." She draws three cards then puts two cards in the discard tray. Next I'm going to play another magic card Ookazi which will inflict 800 points of direct damage to your life points." Kaiba growled. Kima smiled. Yami couldn't believe that. It was her first hand and already she's making bold moves. "Finally, I'll play this monster card face up in attack mode, Warrior Dai Grepher, who has an attack of 1700 and a defence of 1600. That ends my turn. I've got 4000 life points, Kaiba you have 3200."
Now it was Kaiba's turn. He drew a card and looked at his hand. I have a plan to destroy Kima. I'll play my monster Saggi the Dark Clown in face up attack position and I'll equip it with my Germ Infection magic card. Once she attacks my monster, every monster in her deck with an attack power higher than 1500 will be infected. But she's got that one card face down. I don't have any other thing to play right now so I'll try this anyways.
" I'll place this magic card face down on the field, then I'll summon Saggi the Dark Clown in attack position." (Saggi has an attack power of 600 and a defence of 1500)
Kima blinked. Why would he play such a weak monster? What's he planning? He's got that one card face down. I can't activate my trap card Trap Hole because he has to summon a monster with an attack greater than 1000 ATK points. So what am I to do now? He said that the card he put down was a magic card. So he hasn't laid a trap for me. Unless he's bluffing. Maybe that's an equip magic card and he's planning to make his monster stronger. I have the card in my hand to destroy his Saggi the Dark Clown.
Yami sighed. This is the same strategy that Kaiba used in my duel with him back at Duellist Kingdom. Then he tried to use the same strategy with Pegasus but unfortunally for Kaiba, Pegasus was able to see his cards with the power of his Millennium Eye. That was Kaiba's downfall to that duel. When Kaiba lost that duel to Pegasus, his mind was trapped in the Shadow Realm. Kaiba's mind would still be there for if I had not beaten Pegasus.
"You have played alright Kaiba. But now I am going to end this duel right now." Kima smirked. This had been one of her easiest duels yet.
"This duel isn't over yet." Kaiba growled. Once she attacks Saggi, I will be the one to finish her off.
"Alright now." Kima grabbed a card from her deck. She took a glance at it. " I will place the monster Hyozanryu in face up attack position" (ATK/ 2100 DEF/2800) "Then I'll play this magic card Mystical Space Typhoon which will destroy your face down card. Lastly, I'll have my Warrior Dai Grepher attack your clown and then my Hyozanryu will attack your life points directly."
"No!" Kaiba screamed
"All your life points are gone. I won this duel." Kima took off her duel disk, turned around, and left the building. Kaiba dropped all his cards on the floor and just stood there. Yami couldn't believe what he just witnessed. It had only been her second turn and she just beat Kaiba like he was and amateur. Kaiba didn't even get the chance to play his best monster, the Blue-Eyes White Dragon.
"Haha Joey! I told you I would win this dance game again. And you said I wouldn't be able to win to save my life." Tristan laughed. Joey stumbled off the dance board with his head hanging low in shame. A sweat drop appears on Yugi and Tea.
"How about we get out of this arcade and get some lunch. That will cheer Joey up." Tea suggested. Everyone agreed. Especially Joey who ran out the door screaming that if he doesn't get any food inside him he'll scream bloody murder. A sweat drop appears on Tristan and Yami too.
(That Night)
Yami tried to sleep but his mind kept racing to his dream. Yami would toss and turn in his sleep. The dream…
"Pharaoh! Please don't go like this. I need you. We can defeat the shadow games together. Please don't do this. If you go to fight by yourself, you will get killed! Pharaoh! Oh please Yami!" A voice cried. The Pharaoh looked down to see what was tugging at his clothes. The Pharaoh gasped for all he could see was darkness. All he saw was the teary baby-blue eyes looking into his eyes. He moved his hand to where the head of the person was. He felt the smoothness of her hair run through his fingers. He touched her creamy smooth cheek, wiping away the tears. The Pharaoh held her tightly into his arms for he all too well knew, this would be the last time he ever held her close to him. She cried in his arms. Her cries began to take over him. He wished it didn't have to be like this. But so many people's lives are at stake. If he doesn't defeat the evil threatening the entire world, everyone's lives are doomed. The Pharaoh begged the girl to stay strong. He reached into a pouch and took out a beautiful ring with a big red stone in the middle of it. He wanted to save it for when he would ask for her hand, but that day would never come now. The Pharaoh gently held the girl's hand and placed the ring on her finger. He placed his fingers under her chin and raised her face, kissing her so deeply, holding her so tightly in his arms, and never wanting to let go. He felt the tears in his eyes run down his cheeks.
The kiss ended. The Pharaoh looked into her eyes once more.
"I love you more than anything in this world! Minka, never forget me. No matter what happens, you will always be in my heart and part of my soul!" The Pharaoh began to loose grip of the crying girl. Suddenly, a force pushed him more into the darkness. He closed his eyes as the flashing light surrounded him before he left the world of the living. The last thing he ever heard was Minka's crying and her screams of heartbreak as she repeated his name.
"YAMI!"
