The cool, quite morning air filled the cloudy sky. The sun was beginning to peek out slowly from the east. The different colors of the sun when it first arises, seemed to make a pattern of colors in the sky, much like a rainbow. The Pharaoh had just awakened from his precious slumber. He stretched and yawned like a bear as his servants attended to him while he got ready. His clothes were neatly arranged and his jewelry sparkled and shine. The Pharaoh dressed himself and proceeded to the throne. He sat down on the throne as his female servants fanned him. Another servant brought the Pharaoh a drink which was placed in a large gold cup filled with wine.

The Pharaoh sat at his throne and was somewhat bored. He was anxious to see what his people where doing. He waved his hands and the servants went away. He got up off the throne, and went back into his chambers. He found a long brown cloak with a hood. He wanted to try and blend in with the people so as not to look too suspicious. He took off his crown, rings, and earrings, and headed out the palace gates. When he got out he felt a sensation of freedom. Being a man of his stature isn't easy. He just wants to be alone sometimes and see the world for himself.

He went into the village and the people slowly started to appear out of their homes. The homes were made of mostly mud. Even though people tried to make them look as neat as possible they were a bit crooked. The women carried things on their head walking up and down the road sometimes with their children by their sides. The men were always at work by the Palace or in the fields. Picking grains in the deadly heat and working non stop while Priest Karim and a few guards monitored the workers.

It was a typical day in the village and the Pharaoh just watched. As he was walking a young lady bumped into him and she fell over. The Pharaoh was quite embarrassed as he helped the young women up. Her water spilled all over him and it accidentally splashed the man that was walking a behind her.

"Look what you did you filthy wench." He yelled at her.

"I'm sorry sir." she said.

He pushed her onto the ground and kicked her in the stomach.

"That'll teach you to stay out of a mans way."

The Pharaoh watched the man for a few minutes as he walked away and then he ran up behind him and pushed him onto the ground.

"You just made your last move boy. Now your mine."

The man pulled out a knife and ran at the Pharaoh but he only stood their with his arms folded as the man came closer the Pharaoh quickly flipped him on his back, grabbed the knife, and pinned him to the ground holding the knife to his neck. He stared the man straight in the eye with his foot on his chest. Then he moved his foot and threw the knife on the ground. The man got up, grabbed the knife and ran away.

The Pharaoh was not mad but delighted in a way. "Are you alright miss?" he replied helping her up off the ground. "I'm fine, thanks for saving me." She brushed herself off and picked up her pale.

"No problem. That guy was a real ass anyway. He deserved it."

"Well I don't blame him."

"Why?"

"Because he gets pushed around too much by these guards. He's got a bad arm but because he did something the guards work him extra hard and it pissed him off. He is like this to everyone not just me that's why we stay out of his way."

"Oh, well what do you do?"

"Me, oh, well, I , uh belly dance in the streets for coins. Its not much but its enough to keep food on the table."

"You live alone?"

"Yeah, its a raggedy old mud shack. Nothing special."

"Well I'm sure its not that bad."

"It is."

"Oh."

"Is there anything I can do to repay you?"

"No, that won't be necessary."

"Okay then. Thank you. I'll see you around."

She gave him a wink and headed back to the Nile to get more water. The Pharaoh just stared as if she was a mermaid on the sea shore. Her mysterious beauty lightened his day. His crimson eyes were wide open and he gulped hard, as he turned and walked away.

He went into the bar and sat down on a bench. The bar tender seemed to be in a good mood this morning and he said with a loud voice "Drinks are on the house". He gave the Pharaoh a drink and he sat down drinking slowly, like there is nothing else in the world. He started to feel like the regular towns people. As he got finished he left a bag of gold for the bar owner. The owner was shocked. "Drinks are on the house sir, you do not have to pay me." The Pharaoh cracked a little smile as he was walking out the door. "Please accept this out of my kindness." The bar owner was still shocked as if he saw a ghost. " Thank you sir." As the Pharaoh was walking, the same young lady that bumped into him blew him a kiss from her soft lips. The Pharaoh stopped and looked at her again. He steadied his eyes on her as if he were in a trance. He felt like the kiss caught his lips and made him feel warm inside, like a breath of fresh air.

She walked away and into her home. The Pharaoh sat down on a bench and watched the children play. One of the little girls came up to the Pharaoh and gave him a flower. He gladly accepted it and she ran off smiling. the towns people all seemed to gather round and the musicians began to play. The Pharaoh ran over to see what all the commotion was and the same young lady he saw this morning was belly dancing for the men. The mothers covered their children's eyes and hurried along. The men gathered around hooting and hollering. But she paid no attention to them. She just danced. Nothing more. The Pharaoh moved his way through the large crowd of people and watched the young lady dance.

Her hair was in two long braids that dangled over her shoulder with small gold beads in them. Her hair was also decked out in gold beads that curved around her forehead and to the back with a cross in the middle. She wore a blue and gold glittery bra top with blue beads hanging from it and she wore a glittery blue sash with a gold belt.

She extended her arms in the air as she slowly moved her hips from side to side. Pleasing the crown. Then she did a trick, which the crowd always enjoys which is, shaking her butt in a circular gyrating motion. This pleased the men especially the Pharaoh, who watched her dance gracefully and watched her hips move side to side. Her whole body seemed to glitter in the sun. She moved and slithered much like a snake in the hot sands. When she finished she stood posing as the crowd cheered and clapped her on, As a present they threw coins to her.

The crowd began breaking up slowly and she picked the coins up and put them in her little bag. She picked up her hooded skirt and covered herself up and started to walk away until she saw the same man that she bumped into earlier standing there looking a little lost. So she went over to him and tapped him on the shoulder. "Did you enjoy my show?" she said happily. "Yes. You are a very good dancer." She smiled and they began walking together through the town. "This is how I make my living. I learned to dance from women I saw. I enjoy people who respect what I do and have fun at the same time. I have no choice anyway so I must make the best of what I can do." The Pharaoh looked at her and smiled "I like what you do but I'm sure you could be other things. There are plenty of things for women to do."

She looked at him oddly and shook her head. "I know but I like to do this more than anything. Dancing takes my mind off of things and makes me feel good."

"If it makes you feel that way then I'm all for it. You know it seems so peaceful out in the village today."

"Yeah well we have to do something to take our mind off of things even if its hard labor, dancing, playing, or whatever we always seem to find a way to keep our cool. All this hard work and stuff just drives me crazy sometimes. I just want to live every peasants dream. Be rich, live in a grand Palace, have servants wait on em hand and foot, with a handsome Pharaoh by your side...but that's only a dream. That'll never happen. Look at me you probably don't even give a damn about what I'm saying but I don't blame you. I dream about these things all the time knowing that it will never happen."

The Pharaoh looked at her and looked down at the ground. "Dreams can come true. Maybe the one you dream about will come true some day you never know. You may not be rich or live in a grand Palace or have servants waiting on you hand and foot but you'll have someone to love." She looked at him and smiled. "Thank you. I'm glad someone believes in me." The Pharaoh looked at her and watched her hazel-brown eyes. He felt like he could tell her anything, she seemed like a close friend to him.

"What about you? You seem like a sweet person I'm sure you have a girl" (she was really hoping that he didn't have one.) "No I don't, its hard to find the right one. They love me for my status and not me personally." She stared at him puzzled. She though to herself, how could such a kind and compassionate man like him not have anyone to love. "I know you'll find someone someday. When you find that special someone she will love you regardless" The Pharaoh felt sort of relieved by her words. "Thanks, I loved talking to you but, I should be heading back."

She was sad to hear that he had to go since she felt a chemistry developing between them. "Okay then where do you live? I can walk you home." The Pharaoh hesitated and tried to decide quickly if he wanted to tell her his true identity or leave it as a mystery.

"I live pretty far. I can walk back by myself though, I wouldn't want you to go through all that trouble." She giggled as she got closer to him. "Its no trouble for me, I can walk you back since you have been so kind to me." the Pharaoh was stuttering to find the right words to say. "I know you don't like to come out at night and I won't force you too if you don't want to but, can you meet me by the Nile river over there where that stone is?" She was kind of confused but agreed to it anyway. " Sure I can do that." He was relieved, this will give him time to tell her who he really is. "Thanks, I'll see you soon" The Pharaoh walked away and waved cheerfully and She waved back smiling just as hard as she could like a new born child. He left and returned to the palace.

Inside the Palace...

When he got back he immediately went up into his chambers and changed back into his regular royal garments. He proceeded into the courtyard and sat down in the chair. He sat in the shade away from the scorching sun.

His servants were fanning him and he lied down on a golden couch relaxing. One of the servants whom was much in love with the Pharaoh always watched him and was always close by, like a spy. Her name was Shana, she always thought about being the Pharaoh's queen but, he never really was ready to settle down. She had to wait patiently. She always made her self out to look like a princess or maybe even a Goddess. If anyone was more prettier than her she would make them feel and look ugly.

She approached the Pharaoh and sat beside him. "My Lord, the preparations for the festivities tonight are in place." The Pharaoh continued gazing into the blue ocean like sky until he noticed she was sitting there. "I'm sorry what did you say?" She pouted, angrily "I said, the preparations for the festivities tonight are in place." The Pharaoh could tell she was mad so he put his hand on her thigh. "Thank you, I would like to be alone now." She grinned devilishly and she as well as the servants departed from the Pharaoh's presence. The festivities that were being held tonight are in honor of Ra's birthday.

The village people were getting ready, as well as the servants in the palace. The Pharaoh knew for sure that he would see her again. Everything was just about ready. The Pharaoh got up and left the courtyard, he headed to his chambers to change for the festival. His Priests were by the throne waiting for him. The musicians played all kinds of music for the people to dance to. There were games, acrobats, animals doing tricks, it was a regular circus in there but everyone was having fun. There were six servants including Shana, serving the Pharaoh and his Priests. Of course she had to come. She was mainly watching over the villagers. She felt happy because no one matched her beauty, and style.

Everyone cleared the floor and 5 young ladies came out. They were belly dancers. The Pharaoh glanced at them and saw the same young lady that he saw this morning. Smoke filled the air for special effects, as the girls began to dance. A silent passion stirred among the villagers, as well as the Pharaoh and his Priests. They seemed stunned by their performance. They moved graceful from side to side, moving gently to keep the crowd in there trance. She twirled around and slowly approached the Pharaoh. This caught everyone's attention, they were in thought as to how the Pharaoh would respond.

She moved slowly up to him and made his eyes follow her every seducing moves. She put his hands on her hips and moved her stomach up and down. She wrapped her sash around the Pharaoh's neck and walked off. When she got back down with the rest of the dancers they performed there last move and a puff of smoke filled the air, like a fragrance from a cologne. When it cleared the 5 girls where nowhere to be seen. Still, the crowd cheered and clapped anyway. The Pharaoh took a deep breath, as he had his servants fanned him even more.

Priest Seto looked at the Pharaoh and just laughed. Shana was not pleased at all. She walked off and went into her room staring into her mirror. "I am still beautiful." She sighed and left out her room and headed back down to the festivities. The Pharaoh was watching his people have the time of their lives when he just remembered that he promised the young lady to meet him, near the Nile river by the big stone that sat on the beach. "I need you to watch everyone, I just need to be alone for a while."

Priest Shadah looked at him worryingly "Are you sure my Lord?" he didn't want to leave the Pharaoh out of his sight but he does need his time too. "I am sure." Priest Shadah respected his wishes and the Pharaoh departed to his chambers. He grabbed the long brown cloak with the hood and left all his jewels on. He saw the sash that she wrapped around his neck and brought it with him. He decided to tell her who he really was. He left the palace gates and proceeded to the Nile.
