Chapter 26: Final Duel with Bakura!

Heba was getting scared and worried when she heard so many shouts and booms. That's when she heard horses and looked over to see the priests.

“The priests!” Said a guard as they quickly dismounted.

“Heba!” Siamun said.

“Siamun! Priests! Hurry! Shada-sama and Atem are down there fighting Bakura!” Heba said.

“Say no more!” Said as he and the priests quickly rushed to the entrance, only Akhenaden made it to ten steps before he froze.

She was about to ask when she noticed Mana. “Mana?!”

“Hey Heba!” Mana said as she hugged Heba. “I'm so glad you're alright.”

“Same goes for you.” Heba said. “But what are you doing here?!”

“Come on!” Mana dragged her towards one of the holes that were created recently and they looked to see Mahado.

`Mahado!' Heba thought as she looked over at the other girl, who has her eyes closed and her arms crossed and then a female magician appeared out of nowhere and dived down just in time to grab Mahado. `Her ka…' She thought. `She did it! She found her spirit and created her ka!' She kept quiet and hidden so that Bakura wouldn't see her and put both of them in danger.

~In the Shrine~

“Well, well…” Bakura said as the priests entered. “What an honor!!”

“Great Pharaoh!” Siamun said. “Thank the gods!”

“I'm fine…” Atem said then looked at Shada. “But Shada is hurt badly…”

“Shada,” Kalim said, “are you all right?!”

“Yes…” Shada responded. “Right now… we must unite our power… or we'll never defeat Diabound! Its strength is infinite!”

Siamun made a sound of agreement then said. “It's time for the Pharaoh to fight together with the five surviving priests!”

“No…” Atem said. “All six priests!”

They all looked up to see Mahado.

“Mahado!!” Kalim said, glad to see a fellow companion.

`Master!' Mana's ka thought. `You're back!'

`Mana…' Mahado thought then smiled. `To be saved by my own student. You've been studying hard while I've been gone…'

`Yes sir! Heba helped me a lot!'

`Did she now?'

Mana nodded when Bakura laughed.

“You've come to me with presents hanging around your necks… You've just saved me a lot of trouble. I already have three of the Millennium Items, if I defeat you here, I'll have them all… And then…” He then thought. `The shadow power will be mine!!'

“This is it, Bakura!” Seth said. “We priests will crush your mad ambitions!! Get ready!”

Bakura grinned as he thought. `This time you priests will be the sacrifice!!'

“Here are our ka!!” Kalim called as he summoned the Cursed Wing Dragon while Isis summoned Mystical Elf and Seth with his Duos.

“Diabound!” Bakura called. “Massacre them!” Diabound charged at the three monsters as they spread out.

“Get into position!” Seth said. “We have to surround his spirit!”

“Great Pharaoh!” Siamun said looking at the young king. “Don't fight anymore! You've done enough!”

“I'm alright…” Atem said then thought. `But Mahado is badly wounded…'

`Master Mahado!' Mana thought. `My ka can't fight yet, but I can give you my heka… my magic!'

`Mana!' Mahado thought as Mana gave him some of her magical energy.

“Leave this to your high priests, my Lord…” Siamun said. “We'll defeat Diabound no matter what!!”

The ka monsters were behind Diabound while Kalim said. “Let's go!”

But Seth noticed something amiss and thought. `One's missing… Where's Lord Akhenaden?'

“Attack from four directions at once!!” Kalim said, not noticing the missing member.

`You fools!' Bakura thought. `Give up!' The ghost shield blocked the attack.

“What?!” Kalim said. “He repelled the attack!?”

“The ghosts are helping Diabound…” Atem said. “They're using their auras as a shield!”

“No matter how many of you there are, you're still weaklings!” Bakura said as he called. “Thousand Poison Fangs!” The snake tail attacked Isis's monster, which gave her pain.

“Isis!” Kalim said. “No!”

`How can we defeat him…?' Atem thought.

~At the Entrance~

Akhenaden looked horrified as he looked at the stairway that leads to the shrine. `Th-This place…' He thought. `The memories of the slaughter are coming back to me…' He held his head with both of his hands and then gasped when he saw corpse-like ghosts grabbing onto him. He screamed as he said. “Stay away… ghosts… Ghosts of Kul Elna…”

“Lord Akhenaden!” Said a soldier. “What's wrong?”

The old priest looked frightened and angered at the same time.

~To Where Heba and Mana Are~

Heba had a bad feeling. She watched the fight while being prepared to protect Mana, since her soul is within her ka. But she knew that what she was feeling is getting stronger. `So many shadows going around…' She thought. `Black ribbons wanting to tie and suffocate everyone.' She shivered, but wasn't as bad. `Oh gods… Please don't let them die, and if they do…' She fingered her necklace. `Then don't let their souls fall into the darkness.'

~Back in the Shrine~

“Summon Lighting Shot!” Bakura called as his monster gathered an orb of powerful energy at Duos, who dodged it.

“Our ka's individual attacks haven't even scratched him!” Seth said.

“There is a way!!” Kalim said. “My Millennium Scales has the power to combine two ka into one.”

“Ka Fusion!!” Atem said. “Of course! The true power of the Millennium Items, is the power of unity!!”

“By the power of the Millennium Scales.” Kalim said. “I combine the ba of two ka!!” Then he thought `Merge our ka!'

Duos and the Cursed Wing Dragon were merged together to become Duos Dragon.

`What?!' Bakura thought. `They fused their ka?!' He then looked ticked.

“The scales are in balance!” Kalim said. “Each scale has a piece of our ba… and so our ka come together! This is the hidden power of the Millennium Items, the power of unity! A power you'll never have, Bakura!”

Mahado went on top of the dragon and crossed his arms. “Mahado's magic will double its attack power!” Atem said.

“I'll show you!” Bakura said. “Against Diabound, it doesn't matter how many of you there are…”

“Here we come, Bakura!!” Seth cut in. “Dragon Flame!!” The dragon gathered energy in its mouth before it shot out towards Diabound.

“I could block that attack with the ghost shield…” Bakura said. “But I'll fight fire with fire!” He then called. “Spiral Wave!!” Both of the attacks collided and stayed there.

“Both attacks hit head on!!” Atem said as Bakura was equally surprised.

“The attack power is equal!!” Seth said. “He didn't budge!”

“Equal?!” Bakura said. “What a laugh… If you're going to fuse your ka, then I will fuse my attacks!” Diabound's snake-headed tail had an energy orb in it's mouth.

`What?!!' Atem thought as Bakura called.

“Thunder Force!!” The snake let out the attack and it fused with the Spiral Wave.

“He's added Thunder Force to the Spiral Wave to double his power!!” Seth said as the Duos Dragon's attack wasn't fairing well.

“Duos Dragon's being pushed back!” Atem said as Diabound's attack was getting dangerously close to the dragon.

“That's it, Duos Dragon!” Bakura said. “Swallow your own dragon flame and die!”

`We're about to be blown away!' Seth thought as he had a plan in mind. `No time… Aura Sword!!' The dragon got out its sword and blocked the attack from getting closer.

“He blocked the blast with his sword?!” Bakura said. “Using a sword in place of a shield… But, how long can you do it?”

“Kalim!” Seth called. “We have no choice! Attack Diabound when I sacrifice our arm!”

“Seth!” Kalim said as the dragon moved while its arm was blasted in half.

Seth felt the pain in his arm as he said. “N… Now…!”

“Dragon Flame!!” Kalim said and the dragon obeyed.

“Ghosts!” Bakura called. “Protect me!” The ghosts shield came up.

`No…' Kalim thought. `Even after we fused, our attack was too weak!'

Bakura laughed. “Weep, priests! Weep for your useless `unity'!”

`Don't give up!!' Atem thought. `If our hearts are as one, he cannot stop us! Have faith!'

Heba watched and could sense what he was thinking. `You can do it!' She thought.

“How many times do I have to tell you?” Bakura said. “You can't-“ He was about to continue then noticed something. `What?!' He thought. `The shield is melting… It can't be! That shield's power is fueled by the ghosts' hatred, it should be limitless! But it's dissolving!'

Kalim used his heka to force the attack to continue and to get through the shield. “Just a little more!!” He said. “We can break through the barrier… and defeat him!”

“You think so…?” Bakura said as Bone Snapper let out an attack, which hit directly to Kalim's chest.

`H-He had another ka…' Kalim thought. `But how…' He thought as he let go of his item as he fell to the ground.

“Kalim!!” Atem called as the ghosts lifted the Millennium Scales.

“Ghosts!” Bakura called. “Bring it to me!!” They obeyed and he caught the item. “Without the Millennium Scales your ka can't fuse any more!” Just like he said, the dragon was separating.

`Duos Dragon is disappearing!' Seth thought.

“M-My Lord…”

“Kalim!!” Atem said as he supported the priest, who closed his eyes and became motionless. “Kalim!!” He called as he realized the horrid truth. Kalim is dead.

Heba saw this and covered her mouth. `Kalim-sama…' She thought as she remembered the little moments that she has seen him.

Bakura laughed then said. “So much to unity! It's over now that I stole this Millennium Item! All that's left… is for my invincible Diabound to send you to Hell one at a time.”

“It won't be that easy.” Atem said.

“What do you mean?” Bakura asked. “Well, `Great Pharaoh'?”

“Take a look.” Atem said as the thief looked. The ghost shield has a huge hole in it.

`What!?' Bakura thought. `They broke through the ghost shield!'

“Bakura…” Atem said. “The power of our unity blasted a hole in your shadows! The Dark Magician has been waiting for this moment, chanting his most secret spell…”

Bakura looked alarmed.

“Mahado, now!!”

Mahado went in front of the hole's entrance, crossed his arms and a dark energy ball appeared. “Black Magic!!” He called as he shot out his attack, which was a critical hit.

`It's over, Bakura…' Atem thought. `We won!'

“D-Diabound…” Bakura said weakly. “M-My spirit… is fading away…” Diabound was fading into nothing. He looked at the young king in a blurred vision. `Must…' He thought. `kill him…' He turned and walked over to the tablet, since Bone Snapper disappeared as well. `Now…stop the Pharaoh… I'll steal all the Millennium Items and the power of darkness will be mine… I… am the King… of Thieves… There's nothing in the world I can't steal…' He started to place the items he possessed in the holes.

“It's no good.” Seth said. “As long as we have the last Millennium Items, your `Great Evil God' won't be set free…”

Heba felt sorry for him. `I wish there was another way… but…' She thought. `What he done…' She remembered the people screaming, Diabound destroying Slifer, and killing Kalim. She was saddened to know that the trials to the afterlife for him were going to be cruel. `If there's a way to save him in death… He's gone through with so much already…'

Akhenaden walked in and saw Bakura place in the last item he possessed and something inside him snapped.

Bakura looked shocked as he looked at his hand. `What!!?!?!' He thought. `My hand is turning to sand?!' Soon his whole body was turning to sand.

“What?!” Atem said, shocked at the site. `Bakura's body is melting away!' He thought. `He's disappearing!'

“Kalim!!” Shada called, making the young king turn.

“Wh-What magic is this?!” Siamun said. “He's turning to sand!”

Kalim's head was only one forth gone and Bakura's head was left before disappearing.

`What on earth…' Atem thought. `is going on here?!'

Heba looked at the site with wide eyes. `Is this the shadow's doing?!' She thought.

“This is crazy!” Mana said, she returned back to normal after giving her magic to Mahado.

Heba nodded then felt something. `Huh?' She thought as she tried to move her head only to find out she can't. `I… can't move!' She thought when she felt something enter her necklace, giving her the ability to move. `What was that about?' She was about to talk to Mana only to see that she was like a statue. `Some kind of magic from the shadows?'

`The Pharaoh needs you!' The voice said.

“What?”

`Go now! He needs you!'

She nodded and ran to the entrance.

While back in the shrine, Atem also noticed that time is stopped, save for him. `The priests are frozen!!' He thought. `It's like time has stopped!!' He then noticed the elder priest. `Akhenaden!!' He also saw what the other has in his hands. `He took the priests' Millennium Items!'

“Great Pharaoh…” Akhenaden said. “The time has finally come…”

“Akhenaden!” Atem said. “What are you doing with the Millennium Items?” He then took a closer look at the priest's face. “It can't be…” He then felt something. `I can't move!!' He thought as the priest walked by him and he felt a pull of magic moving him until he saw the tablet.

“And now for the last of the items…” Akhenaden said as he shoved his fingers to where the Millennium Eye was held and pulled it out while laughing.

Atem was shocked as blood covered the item and the other's hand as the mentioned priest walked up to the tablet and placed the rest of the items in and a bright light emerged along with a dark face appearing.
