Okay everyone! Just as I promised, I'm going to give you the summary of my working-in progress fic!
Spell-bound Delivery: Atemu is an average twenty-one year old who is raising money for his college. His life isn't what you call great, living in an old apartment with his abusing and drunken uncle, going to work in long hours all through the week with no break. But all that changes when he meets a Mage and realizes that he has `accidentally' become his `Guardian'. Now he has to handle being a normal human student and being a bodyguard to the one who turned his life upside down, right-side up, and twisting turning!
How's that? If you want more info. Just put in your questions via review or my e-mail thing. And I'll answer your questions in `One Bond', another fic I'm working on. And now! Enjoy the afterward!
Epilogue
Egypt's desert wind blew into a ruin of a small village where a young man of twenty-seven walked in and bent down to dust away the sand to reveal an old tiled floor. “Here we go.” He said as he felt around the tile piece until he found a loose end, and lifts the tile up. Under the tile was a box, no bigger then his palm, surrounded by sand. He took the box out from the earth and placed the tile back to its place. He opened the lid of the box and the light from the sun caught whatever was in the box, and reflected it to the man's face which revealed Atem. He smiled as he closed the lid. “Perfect.” He said as he placed the box in his pocket and looked over at his colleges, who were packing up for the day.
While in the city a few miles off, in a hotel room, sat Yugi at age twenty-six, typing away on a lap-top. “There!” She said as she wiped the sweat off her brow. That's when her cell went off and she answered. “Hello, Yugi Mouto speaking.”
“Hello Miss Mouto.” Said a male voice. “This is Eric Song.”
“Hey! Let me guess, you want to know about my manuscript.”
“Well… yeah…” Eric said with a nervous laugh.
“I just finished with the last page.”
“Oh really?! That's great! Oh thank you Miss Mouto for finishing it in… Wow! Five days before the deadline!”
She giggled. “Well, I do have a lot of time on my hands.”
“Speaking of which, how's Egypt?”
“Oh, it's in its warm season, but it's very pleasant.”
“It's today Mr.Misoka's retirement from the dig?”
“Yes, but he's not bummed about it. He's been doing this since high school, so he won't miss the dig too much.”
“I see… So, back on that manuscript…”
“I'll fax it to you in a moment.”
“Oh thank you Miss Mouto! You're an angel as always!”
“So I've been told. Well, I better get these faxed then. I'll talk to you later.”
“Later!” They hung up.
She giggled as she saved her work and placed a fax order in. She sighed and laid on the bed once it was done, and took out a picture from the nightstand of the whole gang, wearing their graduating robes from high school.
-Yugi's POV-
It's been about eight years since all of us went our separate ways, but we still keep in touch. I looked at the picture to see Joey and Seto
They're married for a couple of years now and getting ready to have their first child in a few months. Seto is still a CEO of his company and Joey works as a chef in one of our local restaurants, but now she's taking a break until the baby comes out. It's a boy and his name is going to be Kyo. Kyo Wheeler Kaiba. Nice huh?
I looked at Duke and Tristan, which were married around the same number of years and are going to have triplets soon. Duke is still working for her company, but is also taking a break, and Tristan went into the army and became a commander. When he heard that Duke's having triplets, he took a temporary leave to be with her and his new children until they were at least six months. That's a long leave.
I looked at Marik and Malik, as well as Ryou and Bakura. Marik proposed to Malik three days after graduation and they were married after their freshmen year of college. Marik had saved almost over a million in secret, nearly gave Ishizu a heart attack. They are now working on their fifth child. Yeah… Their first were triplets, which was an unexpected birth, twins the second time two years later, and now they're having one. Ryou and Bakura were married after their junior year in college and they're working on getting their first child. Both Bakura and Marik are C.S.I agents for Tokyo while Malik works as a museum director and Ryou as a librarian.
As for Lisa and Moukaba, They're still in college. Lisa is working as a chef's assistant in Italy, then will be going global with famous chefs, who will be hosting a food show. Moukaba on the other hand is working on computer science and advance business math. He is still the vice-president of Kaiba Corp. and the heir to it as well.
As for me and Atem, we're not married, which is fine. I'm an authoress as well as a reading critic. Eric Song is my publisher, and he has a bad experience with other authors not finishing their manuscripts in time.
Atem, well, he's retiring the dig today. He can volunteer like Grandpa, who is still alive and lives in the country side. But he won't be there full time like he used to. He's going back to school to become an artist, or so he says.
I saw the works he has done over the years, and it is amazing. But today, he has something special for me, he couldn't tell me what, but I could tell from the way he acted earlier, that it was really special. I got up from the bed and placed the graduating picture of the gang, next to the senior prom picture of me and Atem. Yeah, we were king and queen that night, funny isn't?
-Normal POV-
Yugi looked through the closet and looked through some dresses she brought along when she heard the door opening.
“I'm back!” Atem called.
“Hey Atem!” She called as she went up to see him. “Long day out at the dig?”
“Couldn't be long enough, but I'm ready to retire and take it easy.”
She giggled.
“What?”
“Of all the years I've known you, seeing you settle down would mean that the whole world would be going up-side down.”
He laughed at that. “Come on now, even you know that this was going to happen.”
“Yes, yes, I know.” She said as she noticed his hand, which was bandaged. “Oh my god, what happened?”
He looked at his hand. “Some moron wasn't being careful with the artifacts and got my hand cut. But it's not deep thankfully.”
“Let me see.”
“Now, now, I'll let you see after my shower. I can clean myself and this damn cut at the same time.”
“And you're going to let me see it afterward to get it properly bandaged.”
“Yes, Mil' Lady.” He teased as he walked to the bathroom, which was earned with his ass slapped. “Hey!”
“Hay's for horses!” She countered as the other rolled his eyes and closed the door.
`I don't think I'll ever win an argument. I can win a card or a board game, and I could win other arguments with others, just not with her.' He thought then smiled. `And I wouldn't have it any other way.'
~Later~
Yugi put on an Egyptian-inspired dress she made in a violet with a red color and put on her signature lotus necklace.
“Ready?” Atem asked, who was wearing a light material tan tux suit.
She smiled and nodded while slipping on some black slippers before heading out the door. “You still haven't told me about where we're going.” She said as the other smirked.
“Ah! But it wouldn't by a surprise now, would it? And you should know that.” He said as he lifted his arm for her to hook on to with her own, and walked down to the car.
About a half an hour later, they stopped in front of, what sees like, a high class restaurant. Yugi was pleasantly surprised as they went up to the host, who then led them to the roof top. The roof top had only one table for two and it was slightly decorated with a huge a huge tent with a light, see-through material, some candles, and some lotus flowers.
“Your server will be up.” Said the host.
Once he left, Yugi looked at her friend for nine years and boyfriend for another nine. “What are you planning?” She asked, knowing that this can't be any ordinary surprise date she's been on.
He only placed a finger over his lips and winked, almost saying `not-telling-you'.
She knew she couldn't get anything out of him, but why would she? She smiled as if saying `okay-surprise-me'.
So the rest of the evening was laughing and talking about their day and plans to catch up with their friends. When it came to dessert, he grabbed her by the hand and gave it a gentle squeeze.
“Yugi, there's something I've been meaning to… let you know on something.”
She nodded and listened.
“You know nine years ago, when you went missing for awhile?”
She nodded.
“I had to sacrifice my existence to help my past self and you to save the past that also saved our future. But when we came out through the doors from that tomb, I came back. At first, I couldn't explain what happened, but now I've come to this. It seems that, before you put together the Millennium Puzzle, before the Pendant became the Puzzle actually, my past self wasn't able to defeat Zorc. He was, instead, able to trap it, but that had a cost. You see, he had to separate his spirit into two, one to seal the magic in the Puzzle, and one to go on drifting through time, thus allowing for that half to be reborn. And since you had the Puzzle within your possession, it was only natural for me, only one half of the spirit, to be attracted to you spiritually. But I really did want to be your friend at that age, mind you. And when you solved it, you were able to go back to before the trouble started, but you also released the second half of my spirit. So, when my past self fell in love with you, I was realizing that I loved you. But both of my halves couldn't come together, since they were apart for so long. So, when I sacrificed my existence and gave my life energy to my past self, I also unintentually gave him my halves which quickly became one. So now he has his own spirit and a copy of mine. And when we went through that door in the tomb to come to the present time, those spirits became one and I was able to come back, a whole spirit this time.” He looked at her with the gentlest look he could possess. “And it was thanks to you that I was able to be here today.”
She blushed and was completely speechless.
“And the thing I've wanted to ask you for a long time now…” He reached into his pocket and took out the box.
She saw the old looking box and waited patiently.
“Would you…” He opened the lid and she gasped. “Marry me?”
In the box were two golden Egyptian wedding rings, or bands.
She saw the carvings of the rings. One said `Atem to Yugi' and the other `Yugi to Atem'. “How…” She started to say, slightly shocked to comprehend a complete sentence.
“Let's just say that after my past self's last meeting with Seth, he didn't go straight to bed. He hid the rings where I could easily retrieve them by the ruins I was at today.”
She couldn't believe it, if she wasn't there when she took part of an amazing battle between darkness and light. “Yes…” She whispered.
He blinked, a little confused since he didn't catch it.
She looked at the ring that looked like it fit her ring finger, and placed it on. “Yes, I will marry you.”
He felt overjoyed as he placed his ring on. “When would you like the wedding to be held?” He asked.
She thought about it before smiling. “Five days, by the ruins.”
He smiled. “Sounds perfect.” He said, knowing that they don't need anything fancy and, hell, it was going to be a small wedding anyway.
They ended that night with a passionate kiss, while their desserts were long forgotten.
