Chapter 14

"Can't I please share a room with my onii-chan?" Mokuba pleaded, clutching Seto's arm harder. He buried his head into Seto's soft sweater as Ms. Shinto shook her head no. They stood in front of a small, gloomy looking room. It only had three beds in it, two of them had their blankets thrown off and partly hugging to the edges of the mattress to, the last one, next to a foggy window, was neatly made; just for Mokuba.

Seto felt tears flow onto his sweater, but it knowing he could do nothing to comfort his brother of what saddened him. Seto hoped that Ms. Shinto had noticed, maybe she could help. But of course she HAD noticed, but what could she do about a child that she had recently met, and barley knew his or his onii-chan's name?

Still, sobbing Seto brought his little brother up the stairs, following Ms. Shinto, to the bigger room, for the ten year old boys. It had eight beds, four on one side, and four on the other. It was a damp, cold room, the walls were a very dark, nearly black sort of brown, and covering aground on of the boys beds were torn wrestling posters; just peeling off of the wall.

Ms. Shinto tapped Seto on the back, motioning for him to walk into his room. Being obedient, he walked up to the only bed that didn't have its sheets torn or thrown to the floor. Looking over is shoulder, Seto noticed that Ms. Shinto had left, and shut the door as well. Putting his suit cases on his bed, he lifted His brother onto his bed on sat down next to him. He reached into his pocket and pulled out some tissue that he had taken from his car.

"Are you okay Mokie?" Seto asked as he dried his little brother's tears

"I wanna share a room with you Nii-sama" Mokuba choked out.

Seto didn't know what to tell Mokuba. He knew what it felt like to want something so bad, and then people just tell you the hard truth you already know. He knew Mokuba wanted comfort.

"I know Mokie, I want to share a room with you also, but according to the rules here, we can't. But don't worry, we'll be able to be together during the day, it just at night we won't see each other," Seto said, hoping that it would be comfort for Mokuba.

"I know," Mokuba sniffed, Seto pulled Mokuba on his lap and kissed the top of his head. Mokuba grinned as Seto pulled his mouth from the top of Mokuba's raven black hair. "Better?" Seto asked. Mokuba nodded, "Thank you Seto," he whispered into his sweater.

Seto pulled Mokuba off his lap, and set him on the cold hard-wood floor. "C'mon, let's go outside, it's hot in here."

Seto had a bit of trouble trying to figure his way through the many hallways, but soon he found his way threw a narrow hallway, to a sliding door, leading out to the back of the orphanage.

`Crap' Seto cussed in his head `Wrong way….I feel like such an idiot.'

Seto was about to turn around, when he felt someone come closer to him. "Hey" the voice said

Seto spun around to see a boy with dark brown hair, with a cap one looking at him.

"You're new here right?" The boy asked.

Seto shot him a glare; he didn't have time for this. "Yeah" Seto scowled, then began to turn away.

"Hey, don't go! I didn't mean to be rude. I'm Trent, who are you?" The boy said, grabbing Seto's arm, preventing him from turning around.

"Seto," Seto replied dully.

"Who's this?" Trent asked, motioning towards Mokuba.

"My brother, his name is Mokuba."

"Mokuba, eh? Ya know, my father wanted to name me that…but my mom left him before I was born, and named me Trent" Trent said. Mokuba's face lit up.

`He's lying' Seto wanted to tell his brother, he knew that. He was so used to people lying around him that he was an expert at telling lies from the truth. Trent had been talking in a fast, heavy voice; everyone did that when they were lying.

"Are you guys lost? Here come with me." Before Seto could say anything, he had Trent pulling at his sleeve, and Trent lead both brothers around the back, and back out to the play ground.

"I'm an expert on getting around. I've been here since I was six." Trent beamed.

The three boys sat down on the steps, at first, Seto really didn't want to talk with Trent, and he was rather quite annoying at first.

"You see that kid right there? Okay, that's Ajarro. A-jar-row it's a weird name I guess cause he's a weird kid." Trent chuckled

"How's he so weird?" Seto asked

"Cause his parents used to beat him a lot, and now he has a spilt personality, we call it, "Yohashi"' Trent said.

Seto looked over at Ajarro. He didn't seem like the type to have a spilt personality. He had scruffy blonde hair; he was standing against the fence by himself, looking away from Seto. Poor kid.

"And you know Miz. Shinto right? Well, her three kids, Peter, Yukari, and Annabird are coming. It's cause there dad, used to pay for them to go to boarding school, and know he stopped paying, so they come back to help Miz. Shinto at the orphanage, and they go to normal school, so we're not suck with Annabird, who's our age. I've never talked to her, but she's really kinda annoying. But don't worry, she'll probably just cling to her mom, but she can be nice at times just to let me warn you" Trent snarled.

`Great, just great,' Seto scowled in his head. He all of a sudden felt a small drop of water land on his nose. He looked up into the sky, it was turning grey, and soon the rain began falling harder and harder to the ground. All the children playing dropped their toys and ran up the steps, pushing past Seto, Trent, and Mokuba.

Soaking wet, all three boys pulled themselves into the orphanage. Seto brought Mokuba into his room, and dried his hair using a towel that he had been given by Ms. Shinto. Trent hoped on the bed next to Seto and watched as Seto forcefully pulled the small black comb threw Mokuba's messy hair.

"Hey how come Mokuba never got a hair cut?" Trent asked

"My dad couldn't afford one for him…anyway, he looks cute with long hair," Seto mused.

Mokuba blushed as Seto pulled the comb out of his hair.

"Oh yeah, Seto I need to warn you about Toji. He's like the biggest bully EVER! He beats up on all the kids. Be careful, with a skinny guy like you, you would be sent to the hospital if Toji got his hands on you!" Trent said, nudging Seto's boney arm.

Seto shot Trent a glare, telling him "You just scared my brother…I will kill you….," knowing Trent's "warning" had scared Mokuba.

"Oh…sorry"

Seto looked out the window, seeing it was late and some on the other kids were already in bed, Seto dragged Mokuba to his room, before Mokuba could collapse on the floor.
