Yu-Gi-Oh! Fan Fiction ❯ Then and Now ❯ Riviling Secrets ( Chapter 7 )
7: Reviling Secrets
Jou was still sitting on the ground minutes after Seto’s Limo had taken off.
“Jou! Come on Jou, lets go to my home.” Yugi tried desperately to get Jou out off his daze. He couldn’t stand the sad look in his friend’s eyes.
“Jou please, you’re frightening me.”
At that Jou looked up at his concerned looking friend. Swallowing down the tears which had gathered at the corner of his eyes, he stood up. “Sorry, let’s go then!”
Neither of the two saw the turquoise harried boy looking at them with a most interested expression on his face.
When they arrived at the Kame Game Shop Yugi’s Grandfather greeted them cheerily, but after he saw Jou’s sad expression he told Yugi to get the poor boy something good to eat (after all, everybody knows how much Jou loved food) and to go up to Yugi’s room. Sugoroku promised not to disturb them.
Yugi and Jou thanked him and gathered some food from the fridge before they went upstairs to Yugi’s room.
Jou sat nervously on the corner of Yugi’s bed. “Where is Yami?” He asked.
Yugi sighed. He wanted to comfort his friend, but he could see that Jou wasn’t ready to talk yet, so he would start first. “Well, that is part of what I wanted to tell you…just…don’t freak out, okay?”
Jou was confused. Why should he freak out? He nodded none the less.
At seeing Jou nod Yugi took off his jacked and pulled a big necklace out from under his shirt.
“You see that Jou? That’s a Millennium Item. That is what Yami lives in when he isn’t materialized.”
Jou looked bewildered at his friend. What was Yugi talking about? “Yugi, I don’t under…”
Suddenly the item in Yugi’s hand begun to glow and out of nowhere appeared Yami right next to Yugi. “Hey Jou.” Yami grinned
Jou was at a loss for words. He just stared, stunned, at Yami.
“Ex…explain” He wrung out.
Yugi took a deep breath and started.
“You see, my grandfather has this friend, an archaeologist. They have known each other since school and my Grandpa shares his interest in archaeology. They often go to a digging together. About a year ago the two of them went to Egypt to examine pyramids and that’s where my grandfather found this box.”
Yugi walked over to his desk and opened a shelf. He took a very old looking wooden box out of it and shoved it under Jou’s nose. Jou took it and could make out craving on top of it that looked like a…eye and also some hieroglyphs. Of course he couldn’t understand a syllable.
“Grandfather was immediately captured by it, but his friend told him that it was worthless after he couldn’t open it. He told him to just destroy it to see what was inside, or simply throw it away. But grandfather made it a present to me instead, knowing that I loved ancient stuff as much as him, and he as sure that I would be able to see the true value of the box . The night before my 15th birthday, he put it on my desk so I would see it first thing in the morning.”
Yami had closed his eyes and was listening to Yugi’s voice. That night his new life had begun and it was interesting to hear the events from another’s point of view.
“I was woken up by a strange light that night. That light seemed to emit from my desk, or rather, from the box which lay upon it. I immediately recognized it as my birthday present and jumped out of my bed, over to the desk. I tore off the wrapping paper and was amazed to see this miraculous box. I was almost hypnotized by the eye craved open it. When I lined the eye out with my fingers, the hieroglyphs started to shine and suddenly I was able to understand them. You can imagine how freaked out I was. Languages were never my strong point, and all of a sudden I could understand ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs. However, that didn’t hold me from reading the text.
´This box carries the evil spirit of an ancient tromp robber and murderer. It will be a prisoner in the Millennium Item until it is freed by his soul mate- by then it’s soul will be cleaned and his crimes will be forgotten.´
“The glow from the box seamed to get brighter with every passing second and suddenly the cap jumped open and I was blinded by a bright golden light. The light extinguished after some moments and when I looked down I saw this necklace and its pendant. The first time I saw it, it was like magic…I guess it was magic after all.” Yugi chuckled. “Anyway, the moment I laid eyes on the item, I just had to put it on. And the next thing I knew, Yami stood next to me. That’s how we first met.” Yugi ended his tale and looked fondly at Yami.
“So, that would make Yami the…?”
“…Yami the Spirit of the Millennium Ring. Exactly.”
Questioningly, Jou looked from Yugi to Yami and then to Yugi’s chest. “…the Millennium Ring.”
Jou examined the item around Yugi’s neck deeply. The necklace didn’t look very special, but the pendant…It was enormous. The cones hanging from the ring looked like small daggers, and the eye in the middle of the ring was almost hypnotizing.
Suddenly Jou remembered what Yugi told him before “But…but that would make Yami an evil spirit. A thief and…murderer.” Jou was shocked at his own revelation.
Yami sighted. “I…that is probably true, but the thing is…I don’t remember anything. I remember being cold and alone for a long, long time, but I don’t remember how I got there, nor do I remember anything of my past life.”
“And don’t forget Jou, it said that by the time the spirit will be freed his soul will be cleaned and his crimes forgotten, I think that’s why Yami doesn’t remember anything of his past life.”
“You really don’t remember anything?”
“I don’t know. Sometimes, in my dreams, I see a huge palace, servants all around me. In these dreams I’m wearing a crown.…but…it doesn’t make any sense. Why would a thief have servants or wear a crown...I think these dreams are just dreams after all, so…no, I don’t remember anything. And I think it’s better this was.” He adds quietly.
“Why would you say that? It must be awful not to remember who you are.”
Yami smiled sadly at Jou. “That may be true, but…I’m glad I don’t remember being a robber and murderer. I still carry the hope in me that this is just one big mistake and if I would remember…would know for sure…I don’t know if I could live with the guilt.”
Yami looked to the floor sadly and Yugi put a hand on Yami’s shoulder trying to comfort him, but not really succeeding.
Jou took a deep breath. “The tall guy who entered our school today- Seto Kaiba- I once called him my brother.” Jou wasn’t really ready to talk about it, probably would never be, but after Yami and Yugi had barred their secret to him he just thought it fair to do the same. And deep down, he wanted someone he could confide in. So he told Yami and Yugi everything. How they met, how they became brothers, how they became something more and how they separated. Talking about that last one was even harder than talking about the raping.
“I just feel so bad for doing that to him. I know I did it to save him from Gozaburo, but…I also did it because I wanted to. I loved Seto so much and I wanted to be his first. Someone he would always remember. And I just…forgot about the cameras in favor of my own desire and with that I bared Seto’s body and soul to the monsters eyes.”
“Oh Jou…”
“I enjoyed it, you know. It felt so fucking amazing to be with him. He…he even told me he loved me. He loved me and I betrayed him. I betrayed my best friend, my brother, my love and then…then I just left. Left a without a word of explanation, but what could I have said? If I had told him what I had done he would have hated me anyway.”
Jou sobbed into his hands and Yami and Yugi looked helplessly at each other. What could they say to make their friend’s pain go away.
“And then today. He…was surprised to see me, but he wasn’t cold and he…he called me by my first name, nobody had done so since I left the Kaiba mansion and I…I just snapped at him because hearing that name…it reminded me of HIM, but how could I snap at him? No wonder he didn’t want me near Mokuba. He must be disgust with me. Now more than ever.”
“Jou, what…what your stepfather did to you…Jou, that is awful, nobody should experience something like that…it…it makes me sick to the core and knowing that people like him exist, and knowing that it happened to you…I…am very sorry Jou.”
“Don’t be, its not your fault.” Jou sniffled.
“It’s not your fault either Jou. It’s not your fault that you were forced to have sex when you were still nothing more that a child. Its not your fault for falling in love with Kaiba. You didn’t’t do anything wrong. Nobody could expect you to just leave your beloved brother to Gozaburo’s mercy, and it wasn’t wrong of you to enjoy it. It shouldn’t have happened while that…that monster watched, but you had no choice. What could you have done?”
“I should have thought of something. Maybe, maybe if I had offered myself willingly to him maybe than… And you are wrong Yugi. It was so wrong of me to enjoy it. So very wrong. And I know he will never forgive me. Not for leaving him and if he ever knew everything of it…”
Yugi looked helplessly to Yami. He understood his friends dilemma, but nothing of that was his friends fault, really nothing.
Seto lay still on his bed when he heard a knock on his door.
“Nii-san, please let me in. Please talk to me.”
Sighing, Seto stood up. He knew he couldn’t leave his beloved brother in the dark for so long. He opened the door and was immediately jumped by Mokuba.
“Seto! You are not angry with me anymore?”
“Angry at you? I was angry with Katsuya, angry with myself, but never with you Moki.”
Mokuba let out a sight of relive. “Why are you angry with Katsu-nii? I always thought you would be happy to see him again. You were so sad when he was gone.”
“I…I was sad when he moved away, but more than that I was angry. He just left me…us and he didn’t even say goodbye to me.” Seto would never admit it but he had been so jealous of Mokuba when he learned that Katsuya had said goodbye to his brother. He was grateful that Katsuya at least talk to Mokuba before his departure, it would have been cruel not telling him anything, but it was just as cruel to leave Seto without a note.
“I…Seto, there is something I never told you…when he told me he would leave he said…he said he had done something awful and couldn’t stay because of it…I wanted to ask him about it, but…I heard Gozaburo’s steps on the stairs and I was so scared that I run away. Katsu-nii looked so sad when I left him there all alone…I should have asked him to stay, I should have stayed and listened, maybe he would have explained, but…I was so scared. I think…I think if I had stayed there with him he would have at least stayed in contact with us. He must have thought I didn’t care for him and that’s why he never came back. Nii-san, it’s all my fault.”
“Don’t say that Mokuba. Its not true. He left because…because….I don’t know why he left, but I know for sure it wasn’t because of you. But tell, what did you say before? Katsuya said he did something awful…and that that was the reason he would have to leave? Do you know what he meant by that? Did he say anything that would explain that?”
“No, he didn’t. All he said was that he did something awful, nothing more.”
Seto thought about that. What did Katsuya mean by that. Did he feel guilty for sleeping with him? No, that would be stupid. Katsuya knew that Seto wanted it badly and Seto was the one to offer himself. There was nothing forced about it. Maybe…maybe Katsuya had never wanted to sleep with him. Seto remembered how reluctant Katsuya had reacted the first time Seto asked to have sex. Oh god, maybe Katsuya just slept with him to give him a favor- for whatever reason- and afterwards he was disgust with himself and Seto…
Seto tensed. Was that really the reason? Did he with his wish for sex drive Katsuya away? What else could it be?
´It’s all my fault…´ Seto thought.
´Well, if that wasn’t interesting.´ Noah thought after he had witnessed the drama between Seto ´Kaiba´ and Jounouchi right in front of the school building. Noah wondered about their relationship and from were they knew each other, for it was obvious that they had some history.
However the fact that ´Kaiba ´ seamed overly protective of the small kid Noah had seen was far more interesting. Noah concluded that that must have been Seto Kaiba’s younger brother.
The kid had looked cute, young and…naïve. Noah grinned. The possibilities of getting into KaibaCorp and manipulate Kaiba had just increased.
´Just wait Seto ´Kaiba´. Before you will have realized it, you will not only have lost KaibaCorp, but your cute brother too. Just wait. I will tear apart everything you hold dear.’
“Hey Noah, what are you grinning about?” Ryouichi Otogi asked his friend. He had finally finished his detention and was surprised to see his friend still in front of the school and grinning evilly at something.
“Nothing, nothing. How was detention?”
Otogi laughed. “Better than I would have expected.”
Noah looked questionably at his friend who just grinned back. Right then Hiroto Honda exited the school building and after he caught sight of the two freshmen he let out an angry scream and started to run.
“Oops, sorry Noah, I will have too run. See you tomorrow.” Otogi cried over his shoulder and dashed away. Still laughing.
“Wait you sneaky bastard! I swear, if I get you…” Honda followed Otogi. During detention Otogi had sat right behind him and had constantly blown hot air on the brunet’s neck. It had been quite disturbing and strangely enough quite…arousing. But when the sensei had turned around to write something on the blackboard Otogi had leaned over his chair and had licked Hondas ear. The poor boy had been so shocked that he let out a scream. Well, more like a moan. Obviously the sensei hadn’t been very happy with that and had ordered Honda to wait after detention to have a word with him. That’s why he was currently trying to get Otogi’s neck between his fingers…or so he pretended.
Actually he quite liked the teasing ad attention Otogi would give him. The girly boy was just so…girly. But still cool in a way. And every time he was around, Honda felt…like he should feel when around a girl but he couldn’t help it.
It wasn’t his fault that Otogi had a nice figure, longer eyelashes and smoother hair than any girl in school. Nope, not his fault that he had fallen for the boy.
