Yu-Gi-Oh! Fan Fiction ❯ Tira and Jonouchi's Dangerous Prank ❯ The Planning ( Chapter 1 )
[ P - Pre-Teen ]
Tira Mimora and Jonouchi Katsuya were good friends. They both were in 10th grade at Domino High, they both played Duel Monsters, they both were friends of Yuugi Motou. And they both had an unhealthy taste in practical jokes.
Their most daring idea came from two unexpected sources, Seto Kaiba and Jonouchi's grammar teacher. Kaiba started the idea when Jonouchi “accidentally” tripped him in the hall. “What do you think your doing, Katsuya?” Kaiba had yelled. “You wouldn't last a day in my shoes, and you think you can just run into me if that's what you feel like!” Jonouchi and Tira both found this very funny. “'You're not worthy to bump into me!'” mimicked Jonouchi, sending Tira into gales of laughter. When she had recovered, she said, “You do sound a bit like him. Except he doesn't have an Osakan accent.” And that was what set them thinking about Jonouchi resembling Kaiba.
Jonouchi's grammar teacher, Tokada-sensei, was young, commanding, and unused to Jonouchi's accent. After listening to Jonouchi stumble through three paragraphs on formal punctuation, he lost his temper. “If you are going to read, Katsuya,” he thundered, “then do it in Japanese!” “Yes, sensei,” replied Jonouchi in the same voice Kaiba used when he making it clear he wouldn't do it. The rest of the class laughed. Kaiba did not find this amusing.
“You really shouldn't tease Kaiba so much,” Yuugi commented after class. “He might get you in trouble.” Kaiba took that moment to begin berating Jonouchi.
“Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery,” said Tira sweetly, cutting through his tirade. She added, “Unless it's a bad imitation.” This set Yuugi off laughing.
“Just you wait, Katsuya, Mimora. Just you wait,” Kaiba hissed threateningly. Then he turned around and left, accidentally forgetting his coat. Tira looked at the coat, then gave Jonouchi a small, dangerous smile.
“Oh no,” Yuugi said, catching on, “I don't know what you guys are planning, but whatever it is, don't do it.”
“Don't tell on us, Yug,” pleaded Jonouchi.
“Promise you won't do it. Both of you. And this time, don't get around it on a technicality. You know what I mean.” Tira was excellent at interpreting a promise so that it had no effect.
“Fine,” said the two in unison. Yuugi tried to pretend he hadn't noticed Tira hadn't stopped smiling. Then Tira changed the subject to Ancient Egypt, and she and Yuugi spent a good half-hour discussing pharaohs and tomb locations.
After Yuugi had left, Jonouchi turned to Tira. “I know we promised not ta do it, but whaddidya have planned?”
Tira smirked. “Who said we weren't going to do it? We didn't actually promise, we just said it was fine if we did promise.” Jonouchi groaned. This most definitely meant trouble.
“Maybe your brain was on overload, but mine noticed that” - here Tira held up Kaiba's coat - “Kaiba was kind enough to leave us this. A veritable weapon.”
“What are we gonna do wi' it?”
“How dense can you get? If you were to wear this coat and a brown wig, you would be able to pass as Seto Kaiba. You already proved you can mimic him. Now, admit it. Am I not a genius?” said Tira grandly.
“I dunno about the genius part, but it's a pretty good idea. How'll we keep him away, though?”
“Um… mysterious phone call. For a conference or something. In Tokyo. That's a good two hours away. Tomorrow is Saturday; we can do it then.”
Jonouchi dimly remembered something that he and Yuugi had planned to do that day, but he pushed it away. He could tell Yuugi he had too much homework to do. This was the opportunity of a lifetime: the chance to get a really good revenge on Kaiba.

Saturday came quickly, but not quickly enough for Jonouchi. He spent the whole night with one of his least favorite things in the world - his grammar book. By 2300 that night, he had managed to re-learn his Japanese enough that no one would notice what remained of his accent. He was exhausted, but immensely please with himself.
Tira, meanwhile, called up KaibaCorp. “Hello,” said a boy's voice when the phone was answered. “You have reached the KaibaCorp office, how may I help you?” Tira recognized Mokuba Kaiba's voice.
“Hello, this is Najisha Konini, representative of Gaming Ltd. I would like to speak to Mr. Seto Kaiba,” lied Tira.
“Seto, it's for you,” Mokuba said to his brother. “Some lady from a gaming company.”
“Tell her I'm busy,” Kaiba replied, not looking up from his laptop. Tira, overhearing this, realized she had called the mansion itself, instead of the office.
“Seto's busy, can I take a message?” Mokuba replied. “Oops, I mean, Mr. Kaiba is busy.”
“Tell him that the president of Gaming Ltd. would like to might with him tomorrow at 1700. Location is 1750 Sakura Lane,” said Tira. The equipment was ready, the time had been set, Kaiba was out of the way, and she had just the thing to keep her and Jonouchi in contact. It was a sort of miniature walkie-talkie, with a little microphone and an earpiece. That way, she would know what was happening, and be able to prevent Jonouchi from doing anything too dumb. Tira smirked. This was the perfect revenge.
