Chapter 6: Friends

 

Yami sat up in bed and smiled to himself. Yugi and he had ended up getting only little work done. They had both gotten distracted and had begun to play duel monsters instead of working. Not that he minded but he was pretty sure the teacher didn't want a report on how badly he had been beaten. Yes, him, King of Games had been beaten. Then again it wasn't really that surprising seeing as Yugi had been a very good player.

 

Yami dreamed that night of their past, and maybe of their future. He felt the Gods had given him a second chance and this time, he wasn't going to screw up. The next morning Yami woke up feeling bubbly. With enthusiasm he hopped out of bed and gathered his school supplies.

 

He got dressed and grabbed a quick breakfast. Much happier than before Yami locked the door and began his walk to the school. Yami was humming at tune underneath his breath, he couldn't help it, he just felt… bubbly that morning. A few streets later he stopped, Yugi was waiting at a curb or was he just hallucinating that he was. His eyes sharpened and widened, trying to see if that would change his vision.

 

“Hey Yami!” Yugi called with a wave.

 

Yami grinned and waved back. Yugi really did come out and meet him. He walked forward eagerly, but made sure to keep himself in check. It would be embarrassing if he just started running.

 

“What are you doing out here?” Yami asked as he came within hearing distance.

 

“You don't want me here? I feel hurt,” Yugi joked, “but I decided to meet you once and maybe this time before school starts you could introduce me to the rest of your friends.”

 

Yami smiled at the shorter boy, “Of course, they'll be happy to meet you.”

 

The two walked towards school together, Yami's body tingling with excitement. He hadn't seen Yugi in forever and that the two were getting along so well only added to his excitement! Yami told Yugi about all the places in town that were fun to visit and the two debated on dueling strategies. Their conversation continued as they saw the gates of the school.

 

“Wow, that sounds like such a nice place, think you could take me there once?” Yugi asked as Yami finished describing a park.

 

“Sure,” Yami said with a grin.

 

The park had been one of Yugi's favorite places to visit so it wasn't unusual that Yugi now would show interest in it. As they reached the end of the street Yami looked up as he heard his name being called. His eyes spotted their friends, or rather their old friends and he waved. A grin popped up on his face as walked towards his friends.

 

“Whoa, when did you get a personal clone?” Honda asked jokingly as he saw Yugi.

 

“Ha Ha Honda,” Yami replied, “this is Yugi, well his real name is Nakatsu but he likes to be called Yugi.”

 

Yugi walked up next to him and gave a short wave, “Hello. I'm Nakatsu… or Yugi I guess, who would you be?”

 

“I'm Joey Wheeler! The best duelist around!” Joey exclaimed.

 

“Really? Then you and I must duel sometime,” Yugi said with a charming smile.

 

“You bet,” Joey replied blushing slightly. `He's so cute!' .

 

“I'm Honda.”

 

“Serenity, I'm Joey's sister,” a young girl said bowing to him, Yugi did the same.

 

“Hey Ryou! Bakura!” Joey exclaimed as he spotted the two teens walk up from behind Yami and Yugi.

 

Yami and Yugi each waved to them and Ryou waved back while Bakura rolled his eyes.

 

“You could show a little more enthusiasm.”

 

`I'm showing plenty enthusiasm,' Bakura replied.

 

“Hey Ryou!” Yugi exclaimed.

 

“You know him?” Honda asked.

 

“Well not really, we met briefly yesterday,” Yugi explained.

 

The day went by smoothly, well, as smoothly as it went with Joey and Honda for company. Yami couldn't help but feel as if it was the old days again… except.. no one here recognized him… this still confused him completely. He was sure that they would be shocked at his resemblance to Yugi. If they weren't going to complain, then neither would he.

 

The group later decided to stop buy and eat something together before taking Yugi to visit Seto, after all, he was nowadays a kind of friend.

 

Ryou sat back and watched as Yugi and Yami talked, stuck in their own little world.

 

“Isn't that cute! If things keep going like this Yugi will get to stay no problem! But we still have to make sure that some things happen….hmm….first you have to befriend him closely! We need him to trust you…not sure how you're going to do that but hey, you're a smart lad.”

 

`I agree with the we need to get him to trust me part but I'm a little apprehensive about the leaving it up to me part,' Ryou said.

 

Bakura sighed and wrapped his arms around Ryou.

 

#Why are we helping him anyway?#

 

/Because Yugi has saved us at one point or another and we owe him, plus he's a friend/

 

#(sigh) I deserve a reward for this#

 

“I know what Ryou can give you as a reward!” Gabriel giggled.

 

Bakura groaned inwardly as Ryou blushed darkly , `Can't you haunt those two for awhile?'

 

Gabriel glanced at Yami and Yugi, “Even if I wanted to I couldn't not without you or Ryou, I'm bonded or attached to you two. Isn't that great!”

 

Bakura glared at her and mumbled curses under his breath.

 

/It'll be over before you know it, not that I'll be happy about her leaving but just have patience/

 

#Hmph…I deserve a big reward#

Mistress: Very Short, but hey it's an update and this was just meant to be a filler anyway. I may add more description or something else to it later but for now this is what it is…. I decided to change the facts a little. I know earlier on I said that everyone close to him would remember him but I decided to tweak that one a little to make the story longer.
